Means that i can flash all customs roms without any hack?
Br Tom
I'm new in this Forum an i have unlock my bootloader today with this tool.
What steps should I run now, so I get root on the device?
I guess I didn`t need to downgrade etc. ?
I thought that Sensation was locked, not DHD.
I may be wrong has you're not the first one to say that.
But I kept my DHD because the sensation was locked.
Anyway, go in dev section and follow the tuto you will find.
Don't know what you mean by "unlocked" so check which of the first step are ok (based on the tuto) and continue from there.
At each step they provide tips to check that the step is ok.
Sorry I can't be more precise, I've done it a long time ago...

Hello,
I have unlocked the bootloader using HTCDev.
I thought that I could uninstall some system apps, but I was wrong.
So it's pretty useless to keep this situation.
A few questions:
1. can I use this guide: ????
http://www.desirez.strawmetal.com/p/downgrading-from-gingerbread-to-froyo.html
2. or should I use this guide instead: ????
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453066
I have software version 2.42.405.2 Android 2.3.3 HTC Sense 2.1
Can I go back to stock rom after doing all this?
Last question: Can I use a clean, fast rom and install HTC IME (the apk from system/apps) to use that with the new rom if it is not HTC based?
So far so good, TIA
Jodelol
You can use the second one. Tip while the guide help helps you to be able to root and flash roms with htc dev unlock, you will need to be near a computer to flash anything. With xda unlock andd root you can flash to your hearts content without a pc. So read the part where you have to relock your bootloader after which you could follow the first link you mentioned.
Thank you so much.
Correct me if I'm wrong:
S-OFF is possible! We can relock the bootloader to allow a downgrade
Go to FASTBOOT USB mode (where you got the unlock token code, and unlocked the bootloader)
Code:
fastboot oem lock
That's only the first the step, so after that I can follow your guide?
Great
Thank you Strawmetal.
All done and happy rooting for me now!
Hi guys...
I am losing it here....pulling my hair out...
I have rooted and flashed roms on a Gnex and a HTC Incredible S and I have never encountered so many dam problems doing so...
The DHD is a pain in the rear. I have GB 2.3.5 and I tell you what...GRRRR haha
I gave in and went with the HTCDEV (Official Method) and I'd like someone to tell me what the F*&K that actually does....I thought it unlocked your bootloader....nope...
Theres a big UNLOCKED in the HBOOT but it means jack... I can flash recovery, then I try and flash CM7 for example and the thing wont boot...WTF??? So do i still need to go S-OFF anyway?? IF so, HTC WTF??? Whats the point in this stupid "unlocking" crap....so annoying... If anyone could help me understand this I would be much. much appreciative...
Thanks in advance...
you have to get ENG S-OFF before you can flash custom ROMs. Relock your bootloader and use AAHK (search it on Google, attn1 removed it from xda) to get super cid (SIM Unlock), root, CWM & ENG S-OFF

You don't need eng S-OFF to flash ROMs, S-OFF is OK. you need to flash the boot.IMG for the ROM separately when flashing ROMs on a HTC dev unlocked device. That's why I doesn't boot after flashing a new ROM. Relock it and use the advanced ace hack kit.

Thanks guys....
*sigh*.... I've been on this now for like 30hrs straight... I actually have root an everything and it still wont s-off.... I'm trying to downgrade now and that wont work either....goldcard and everything... I've looked for the Hack Kit too... I must be looking in the wrong places... I cant find it or I'm just too annoyed to see straight...haha
Just want to say i really appreciate your answers guys...
Sorry, I wouldnt normally ask but I'm just spaced...can anyone point me in the direction of the kit...probably not as its a little sensitive I know...just putting it out there...
Thanks again guys... I feel sort of lost now...like wtf ya know... haha
Cheers.
EDIT:
I did find something and it looks pretty bad...haha (Slow your bootloader??? jam you up?? I dont like the sound of that...haha)
Do NOT attempt to install earlier ENG HBOOTs on these models. AAHK now has Hboots that safely support fastboot image flashing.
Doing this WILL severely degrade bootloader performance on Inspires and DHDs and causes issues trying to install RUUs. In other words, it WILL jam you up. (Note: Issue confirmed on later DHDs – ignore at your own risk).
Sense 3, including those with RELOCKED HTC BOOTLOADERS (NOTE: NOT UNLOCKED – MUST BE LOCKED OR RELOCKED) is auto-detected in hack step. Option is given to download a GB RUU and downgrade or abort. This WILL wipe data.
6 days ago I decided to unlock my phone with HTC dev and I tell you what, that is useless! Fortunately I found a guide that save my life! Firts relock the phone then you have to downgrade with AAHK and finally always with AAHK you can unlock the phone and root it. That's what I've done, that was my first time so I apologize with you if I wrote something that you already know! Sorry for bad English!

QUestion. How do you relock your phone after HTCDev unlock? I love to know because I too ave spent too many hours working on this dam phone...
Anyway a work around for this is to find the rom.img of the rom you want to put on your phone and put it in your pc file where you have fastboot. Then flash the new ROM onto your phone normally. Then go into bootloader, fast boot and make sure you have fastboot usb set up. Then you neeed to open the cmd window and navigate to the folder with fastboot in it anf type in fastboot flash boot boot.img . Once this is done reboot the phone and your new custom rom will work fine.
However if someone can tell me hoe to rook and then use aahk I would prefer o use that and go o s-off....
HTCdev has instructions on relocking the boot loader. Basically the same step where you types 'fastboot oem bootloader unlock' or something like that, replace unlock with lock and it will lock it. If you want to use AAHK to get S-off, I suggest you run an RUU and get your phone to complete factory state before doing it. I don't know if it'll work by relocking an unlocked bootloader, so RUU seems to be the safest method (recommended by AAHK).

1.How to root htc one m8 android 5.0.1? 2.How to unlock sim ?i want use another sim. 3.How to make s-off?im s-on but bootloader unlocked via htc dev.. sorry for bad english im ukrainien
Any help me? So sad
All fairly easy to find.
1: flash a custom recovery and install the superuser.zip
2: you need a unlock code (carrier) or s-off
3: sunshine.....No other way at all !
And don't bump this thread every 30 minutes, first its not allowed and second not necessary. Read up in the many provided guides in the general section. Seems to me you didn't do any homework at all !
Cheers.
I got the bootloader unlocked with HTC Dev and rooted, installed TWRP. I installed Revolution (?) rom but had the restarting issue I presume because of the firmware being incompatible. Searching ways to achieve S-Off leaves me a bit confused though. Could someone hold my hand through the process or direct me to where I can update my Firmware and apply the newer Roms please? Thanks.

OMG do I agree with that post! When you ask about how to do this, they point you to a thread with 300+ post and say its in there, go read... Ive been reading for 2 freaking days and Im more confused then ever!!! CID, SUPERCID, brick without them... NO explanation from there. REALLY!?
Now some people go OUT OF THEIR way to help you, where others seem to just say search the forums. With any of the searches, there is 4000+++ hits, it would be time to upgrade before I read them all. Ive read. Im still reading. Heck, I'm about to ADB back to stock to by pass s-off because of the lack of info, or its scattered across 5 or 6 threads. Sorry for the rant, but Im tired, sleepy, and cant find the info on the threads. Ive done my time reading, came out worse then I started...
Guys, I know your first few weeks at xda can be frustrating, but there are reasons why we do it this way and why requests for hand-holding don't go over well.
First, this is, as the name says, a developers' forum where a certain amount of technical knowledge is assumed. All of us were noobs once, but we got past that by reading and asking intelligent questions, not throwing up our hands and begging to be spoon-fed. If you get less-than-helpful responses, it's often because what seems baffling to you is a question that gets asked regularly to the point that people get tired of dealing with it. S-off and firmware updating are in that realm.
Second, and more importantly, once you go s-off and start mucking with firmware, there is a very real chance of bricking your phone if you're not careful. So having a solid understanding of what you're doing is critical. The people who brick are the ones who rush the process and miss or skip important steps because they don't realize why they exist.
Now, having said that, I can give you a little guidance.
S-off for the M9 is pretty idiot proof at the moment. It's only possible through a paid app, Sunshine. You download it, install it, and it will tell you if s-off is possible for your phone. If so, you buy a license for $25 and run it. Done.
Updating firmware is trickier, but this thread is the best place to start. Read the whole thing from the beginning (especially the first few posts), and if there's anything you don't understand, asking specific questions will usually get you helpful responses.
Good luck!
Good advice from iElvis to go slowly and try not to rush before gaining necessary knowledge .
Usually for example with firmware flashing thread all relevant info is contained in the first four posts written by original poster.
Basically if you are S on you may only flash firmware that matches your currently installed software.
When you have S off (as described above by iElvis) then you may flash any firmware, by changing cid if necessary.
Firmware flashing done in download mode via command
Fastboot flash zip nameofirmware.zip
Phone will flash part of firmware then reboot to download mode,
Then you enter same command again and remainder of file is flashed.
Then you're good to flash custom roms based on the firmware you flashed.

I am not new to xda or flashing roms , but definitely new to htc device. The problem is Alot of threads don't seem to explain "Why" .
your quote here has explained something so simple, that unfortunately was made to sound so complex in some other threads. Also many threads give slightly differing or slightly incomplete instructions. thats why I notice many people asking for a "FULL guide" and even some people offering to "donate if you can help me step-by-step update firmware" .
So , can i ask, just to clarify, after S-off, then SuperCID, we can flash any firmware update from any region? eg If i am from 1.32.710 i can flash 1.40.401 firmware? And ONLY then i can flash a custom rom that MUST be 1.40.401?

Yes, you can flash any firmware for your model. You can't for example, flash cdma firmware on a gsm phone (nor should you try).
But you don't necessarily have to match rom to firmware. It's advisable for best performance, but not always necessary. in this case, however, there is a conflict between firmware and kernel across 1.32 and 1.40—they need to be the same. That means you can run a 1.40 rom over 1.32 firmware as long as you have a 1.32 kernel running (this is my current configuration). But if you have 1.40 firmware, you pretty much have to run a 1.40 rom.
I am missing somethihng some where.. Ive tried the steps above, although no "guide" said anything about supercid. However, Ive tried to flash the firmware, and i do get a cid mismatch error. So I'm stuck and lost. I dont know what to do... Cid is being reported differently depending on how I get it, Adb reports htc_001, the app and the scrip report CWE_001, and I cant seem to find anything to flash to it. Im literally pulling out my hair.

You want to unlock your bootloader or sim unlock ? Be more specific please. S-OFF I needed to flash firmware, radio and some audio mods. Maybe u can do it here http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ or to ask the owner to send you unlock_token file.

You're a bit confused. Based on your other posts, I don't think anyone really told you that you "need s-off to unlock the bootloader" ( as that statement is not completely true - so hold on and I'll explain why). Rather, you are incorrectly trying the following method to unlock the bootloader, and this particular method requires s-off:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571
The method above clearly requires s-off. This is an absolute truism, and no amount of trying it over and over is going to work. However, this is not the only method to unlock the bootloader.
You've already been advised, that you can unlock the bootloader s-on using the HTCDev.com unlock process. Again, this works perfectly fine when s-on. If you need further guidance, the following thread includes very good instructions.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727
But note that the guide is quite a bit outdated. The portion about unlocking the bootloader is still relevant, and therefore still a really good guide. But once you get past that point, you will need to note the following:
a) When you go to install TWRP custom recovery, you should install the current version 3.1 from here (don't use the TWRP version linked in the guide - it's outdated and will cause problems.
b) If you intend to root the current ROM, you will want to use the current stable version 2.79 (link in the guide automatically goes to the latest stable SuperSU version, so you are okay there.\
c) The remainder of the guide (S-off, SuperCID) isn't necessary for most purposes, such as root, custom ROMs, etc. But it should be noted that the s-off method referenced (firewater) not longer works, and not amount of trying will make it work (sunshine is the only valid s-off method, and costs $25 US).
If you have any other issues or questions about the process, post the specific questions to this thread, and folks will be happy to try to help.
