New update made my phone worse
I rooted my phone and I have the latest update but I am stuck at the 5ghz wifi band. What if I only had 2.4 ghz and didn't know the difference; I would be freaking out. The selection between auto, 2.4, and 5 ghz is missing and 5 ghz is not supported everywhere. Sprint should double up on an update or their networks will be in high use.
---------- Post added at 12:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:12 AM ----------
One thing I forgot to ask. When Sprint release the update to fix the wifi can I get it and use it since my device is rooted? And will my phone stay rooted if I do an official update by an official method?

Google Talk as in the "Talk" App? That is still there as for voice dialer I'm not sure, BT is in the car but I can check latter tonight if no one else has by that time.
Taking out dialing over BT seems stupid at best, it's a good safety feature so I don't see why they would take it out.
They are saying you can't even use the blue tooth to call contacts like when you press the blue tooth ans speak something like "call Matt on mobile.". With the talk app they are saying video calling no longer works. Hopefully someone can check these out for me. Thanks again

Just as a side note I contact my friend at Sony regarding the update and he happened to be in a meeting with the AT&T guys. The AT&T guys didn't even know the update got pushed out yet. They told him they expected it to go out later this week. Who cares as long as its out. Hopefully the smartdock gets detected by the AT&T firmware unlike the International.
I'm gonna try updating now and will have a ftf available shortly (as long as I get the update notification)

The AT&T firmware doesn't include the Backup & Restore app so you can do the simple root procedure. So you have to install the Backup & Restore app. Here is a link to it. Just extract and install both apps then you can do the root procedure: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/44704/backuprestore.zip

I enjoy it, When I got my I777 that was my first android phone and I HATED GB but I also didn't know alot of what I do now, which isn't much, once I got it rooted and CFW on ICS I loved it, I love this phone even on just normal ICS with root and I cannot wait to see some Custom roms for it! I also was skimming google, forgot what I searched, midget something? Lol, but I saw something about Sony doing JB for the ion? Maybe I read wrong and I didnt read the whole thing just the google preview thing. Anyways, yeah Im enjoying ics thus far cant wait to see battery life!
Also for anyone who does not know, Power+Volume down is the new way to take Screen shots.
OH I forgot ATT doesn't use the H symbol but the 4G thing. I hate that lol. That us how to take screenshots on any ICS phone BTW. I'm surprised how many don't know.

Hello,
I've been having some severe signal loss issues for a long time now. I will lose my cell signal for sending/receiving texts and calls (even though it continues to display bars). It will not come back until I notice and restart my phone. It used to be that I could turn on/off airplane mode, but this doesn't even seem to do the trick anymore. It is becoming more and more severe. I use wifi a lot, and a theory I have is that when leaving and returning to a wifi area, something happens that causes my signal loss.
I am using:
-CM10 from 11-26-2012
-PhantomPhreak 3.0.15
-FH13
Please let me know if you have any ideas!
Thank you

Hey there, so Ive been a member for a little on these forums, don't usually post, but this is bugging me so I would appreciate any info I could get.
I have a Bell Galaxy S3 (ATT version) unlocked and running it on fido. For a while I was using a version of Cyanogenmod 10 just before they switched to 10.1. I usually had gotten Edge (E), HSPA+ (H+) then fido recently launched LTE in my city and I was getting 4G (4G apparently is LTE on this phone I read somewhere)
CM was giving me little annoying issues so last night I tried AOKPs latest nightly rom which is 2013-05-15. While the rom had some awesome features and was very snappy, I noticed I was olnly getting G or 3G signals everywhere I went. Full bars, but no H+ which is what I normally get and no 4G.
I made sure I added the APN found on the fido website, I selected LTE/GSM/WCDMA from the network mode list and still nothing. One thing I did notice though, in Canada Fido uses the Rogers Network. When I clicked search for carriers, usually Id get 2 fido networks, (it would say if it was lte or what not) then other networks such as telus, bell and rogers. Now I get 3 Rogers networks, it doesnt tell me what networks they are, if I click them, it registers and my signal says Im on Fido.
Anyways, I thought since AOKP wasnt working, Id try Supernexus. (I wanted the pure android experience to begin with). Still having same issues.
Do I have to flash a radio or something? Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info I can reply with whatever you need.
Thanks!
gave rmiyar
Ok, So I looked into modems, Im still on Supernexus and it came with the stock modem for the phone, I flashed the lastest version and I was getting H+ signals but it was jumping from that to 3g every 5-7 seconds or so and then Id loose signal, so Im going to try and flash other modems and see if that works.

I have been starting to have issues with my Spark Connection since a few days ago. It would cut off my LTE and put it in 3G mode barely connecting. I tried troubleshooting before I called Sprint. I upgraded PRL and Profile but still no dice. When I called Sprint, I spent over an hour on the phone trying to find an answer before they transferred me to Technical Support. Tech support told me to turn the phone off for a minute and then after turning it back on, upgrade the profile. I ended up doing that along with the PRL and it fixed it until today I started having issues again. I tried doing the same thing but am not having any luck, I have attempted this over 10x and still no dice, it barely connects to 3G now and I can't even talk to customer service because they are closed. I am using optimus 4.2.2 rom. Does anyone have any clue if this is my handset or Sprint's side?

You got OTA Sprint 4.4 ZVC for Sprint? I have not received the update and have not heard of an official release date for this but I believe the OTA for Verizon has dropped :X
Edit: When I called again just now to Sprint Support, the lady I spoke with said the estimated time of fix is for tomorrow and a 3G Connectivity hold has been placed on all phones in the area while they upgrade the towers. When I asked if it was related to the new firmware update, the lady said it was unconfirmed as to when the firmware update would be releasing as it comes straight from LG and they have not announced anything. So ETA of the fix for ATX is tomorrow afternoon.
Oh dang, i wonder if it is the same issue for me
