Hey guys,
Looking to get a new bluetooth and I have been at Best Buy and Walmart lately trying out a couple with no luck. Anyone have any recommendations for a good bluetooth. Im basically need it to work when driving and walking outside (the last couple I tried people couldnt really hear me or vice versa). I dont often listen to my music on my phone but in the rare times I do, it would be nice if it would play via my headset. I know the saying you get what you pay for, but since I dont use it often Im not looking to spend a lot on one (a $100 is really pushing it).
Any ideas or recommendations?
Thanks
I usually use jawbones they work really well I havent had any issues
I have both the Jawbone Icon and Era, they are both nice the Era is better noise cancelling but yeah if you don't want to spend too much the Jawbone Icon is pretty reasonably priced

Since the Q1 is now "updated", I wonder how this would compare to the t1 bluetooth headset that they sell?
Guess I made a good choice ordering the t1 today. No one seems to be saying, "Wait! The t1 sucks"
the T1 is a great headset i love it but the only problem i have with it is the ear hook the rubber ear holder is not always spot on in the ear. I may look around and see what the price is on this one or see what the latest update does for the Q1.
love the T1; great prices, great sound, and I dumped my Jawbone Icon for it..
hope that with Froyo, you will be able to use all the voice commands on the EVO..
Thanks guys for the input.
Kratos - I remember the thread you started about ordering the t1 from the cellguru. Went ahead, bit the bullet and ordered from them.
On that note, was the product authentic? I mean...was it new condition like you would buy from say...bestbuy or radioshack?
got mine from cell guru; brand new, retail pack..
only down side is NO RETURNS ON BT HEADSETS through them..
Well I read the 300+ reviews and they showed that the products shipped out were authentic and good quality. Only a few people had problems, but cellguru made things right.
Freaking excited because I ordered it with FedEx 2 day shipping. Gotta give my Plantronics Explorer a proper burial
could have saved the money, cause they ship out really fast..I think they are in the Boston area..

I'm in Texas buddy it would take a while to get here. Plus I'm in school so I really needed it ASAP.
As far as FroYo goes, I'm really excited to get the Bluetooth functionality like the push-to-call feature that is missing from 2.1 OS. Hate the fact that I have to connect the Bluetooth and physically touch the screen to dial the person.
In my never ending search for the ultimate BT headset, I have a new favorite; the Blueant Q2..
Just came out a few weeks ago, and, not easily available, except at ATT retail stores, this guy has it all; best sound, clear and loud, wonderful, lightweight fit, no breakup while walking around, and some awesum interactive features, BING 411 being the most notable..
Blows away my Jawbone Icon, tons better than the T1, and, frankly, I am totally impressed in the one day I have had it.
Its expensive, at 129, but, I am sure it will be around 100 bucks once they start shipping them in earnest.
Dont miss out on this one....
I'm planning on picking up one of these next month when I get my FinAid reimbursement back from the Govt. Hopefully I don't lose this one like my Z9i.
This site has them on pre-order for $100 but I don't know trustworthy and/or reliable they are.
go to the Bluant site, and order it direct from them; use this coupon code to get it for 99 dollars:
colony
code is good until August 31st..
Yep I got the same code emailed to me I plan on orderimg one soon
Technology changes every second, so before you say yours is the best, Sound ID has a new model coming out with an app where you can adjust the incoming sounds levels, not just volume. They are suppose to be coming out with an android also!! but this will give you an idea of what it can do.

whats the difference between a $100 BT headset and a $20 one?

Well, was looking at sound id, but...
-NO A2DP without a firmware update, and no MAC software to update the firmware; only 32 bit windows
-NO Android app like the Iphone app that makes it a cool headset
Pay 130+ for a headset with no A2DP now a days? Not a chance
its a nice headset for Iphone users, but a waste of $$ for Androiders

The Sound ID hs looks pretty good. The feature I like the most, which I have wanted for a long time with other sets, is the tracking feature (only [q] is how far it extends though). I've already lost one $80 headset and my $20 replacement was stolen by a former co-worker. I also like that is touch sensitive. The only deal breaker is the lack of an Android app which will hopefully be out by the time I'm ready for purchase (next month or two). The iPhone app looks damn cool! Oh and firmware shmirmware - If you can flash an EVO you can flash this too.
The new Blueant Q2 will call out the names of incoming callers...a feature I've been waiting for...
I'll probably get it...
As long as their names are in your phone's phone book...
correct...which is all I need...

My T1 does that also. I think its a feature of most of the new BlueAnt headset.
true, they both do that..
The major differences between the T1 snd the Q2 are
-Bing 411 on the Q2 is very cool
-Clearer sound on the Q2
- NO BREAKUP on the Q2 when listening to music and walking around
Both are very nice headsets, with similar features, but the Q2 is definitely an upgrade from the T1; is also smaller than the T1

Smaller than the T1 Coming from a Plantronics Explorer, the T1 looks and feels like I have a pebble hanging onto my ear.
I would jump on the Q2, but I think I will wait until Christmas time. Hopefully people would have had some time with it and the price has gone down
yeah, even with the coupon code from blueant, its still 99 dollars...
you know, you could sell your T1 on Ebay for around 40 bucks, which would help lower the cost of the Q2..

Eh its a good idea, but I think I will pass. Never sold anything on eBay before and really do not have the time to hassle with it now. I think I will just wait it out and see how everyone likes the Q2.
Who knows...maybe by the time Christmas comes around BlueAnt will be releasing the T2
I snagged the Jabra EXTREME for $49.99 at Staples... I love it so far... A2DP is awesome
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a mobile signal booster on the EVO. I generally have great signal, but every two weeks I have to make a two hour drive. I have signal about half of the time. Since the trip isn't terribly often, I don't want to spend a lot of money for a product like the Wilson.
The product I was thinking of was the Cell Ranger STIX. It apparently retails for $149 but Amazon has one for $14.99. Since I am basically teetering on usable signal, I was hoping this would work for me. I had wired antennas (plugged into the phone) that mounted magnetically back in the 1990s for AT&T (Nokia) and Sprint PCS (Samsung) and that worked phenomenally.
Any ideas would be great. Like I said, I don't really want to spend a lot of money since it's not a trip I make daily. $20-$50 is about my sweet spot. I'm pretty sure I don't want one of those silly stickers to go on my battery though.
Thanks in advance!
- nivron
My comment really doesn't help you at all and i'm sorry for that, but i'd be really interested to see someone's "real-world" review of that STIX.
I've Googled for it, and the PORT (their USB version). The comments really go to both extremes with a slight lead in favor of the device actually working. I still want to get an opinion from someone on XDA who's used it before (hopefully with the EVO) though.

I believe the STX only boosts the signal one way (send or receive). The Wilson Sleek is just under $100. You can find it on the same alternativewireless.com web site.
you get what you pay for. get a 15$ booster and you get 15$ worth of boost. I read the reviews and honestly I'm skeptical of any electronic device that costs under 50$.
a signal booster that costs as much as a bad pair of headphones I would keep my distance from
Signal booster
I own a plumbing business and have tried several devices. Buy the Wilson or Wi-Ex brands that cost $150 minimum. Use the matching antenna that comes with it and you will be very happy. Increases your send and recieve signal.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate your input.
I guess I may have to see if I can find a sweet deal on the Wilson. As I said earlier, I wanted to stay cheap because it's a trip that I only make every other weekend and my signal isn't always dead. I'll let you all know what I get and how well it works.
Does anyone use a Jawbone Era? If yes I would like some feedback as far as voice commands and other features. I did notice that blackberry and iphone have a better integration with the jawbone products (at least thats what it looks like because they mention the 2 OS in their website) but I would really like to try it if I get some good feedbacks from you!
Also, if anyone already has a Motorola Droid ComandOne, how is it? I know this one is probably better as far as feature goes with android phones but how is the voice quality?
I would love some help from you people...
Thanks a lot
i have a jawbone icon.
the voice commands for dialing people isnt entirely reliable, to the point that i don't even attempt it anymore
saying someones name results usually in someone entirely different being called
other than that, great little bluetooth
I had an Icon before.......and now. Bought that Era, but Icon is much better. Better sound quality, smaller.....maybe i just got used to it, IDK, but Era has been returned. And it is 30 bucks cheaper....yes, Era has couple of new things like few sensors i don't really need
Cool! thanks for the feedback, I'll think about what to do now
Have any of you tried using a Galaxy player as a bluetooth headset for the tablet to make phone calls? If so, how did you fare?
I'm thinking of picking up a used Galaxy player 3.6 to use as a headset paired to the 3g GN 10.1 I just ordered. I've never been a fan of bluetooth earpiece which have to remain in-ear constantly, I like the idea of answering a pocketable, phonelike alternative that I could also use to spot check emails while I leave the note in my backpack while commuting. I dont care about the performance of the player for gaming and the display size, obviously if I have the time to care about what im looking at I'd be whipping out the tablet. Just looking to see if anyone has done this and enjoyed it, or if I should just bite the bullet and buy a traditional BT headset.
Any suggestions on viable, handset-like alternative from other companies is welcome, too.
While looking into whether the GN 10.1 can be used for voice cell phone calls in the US, I stumbled across this handy - if weird - little bluetooth device.
I'll let the article on this "stylus-phone" speak for itself.

Holy crap thats cool. I might get one of those just for the sake of having all the available accessories. I'd propbably use something like that sparingly, because I'd need to A) Really keep track of that thing, and B) need to have the Tablet open in front of my to see who's calling. I'm proabably still leaning towards the Galaxy Player to to get the caller function. The 3.6 im watching on ebay is actually cheaper than the Bluetooth S Pen
I guess I go really go old school and get one of the OLD samsung Yepp mp3 players.. they had this functionality to, but with them I need a proprietary charger and I'd lose email checking. Dammit this is complicated. lol.
This would be really great to see come to fruition. I wonder if an app would need to be developed to properly pair the phone to the tablet.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
From my understanding, Its lees about an app than it is about the Bluetooth Profile. The Galaxy Players give you the proper Profile (plus earpiece and built in Mic) to do this affectively. You get caller ID, and headset functionality. You can pair phones to other phones but never have the option to set what type of profile youd like the pairing to utilize. Would/Could an app do this type of thing, or would it have to be a tweak/add to the bluetooth profile?
Lol, I never get too deep in this. When in doubt - throw money at the problem
