Is there anyway to get this feature without going to cm9 or cm10?

I know with the headphones you can press the volume button to skip music.
Yep, I have a pair of skull candies that work great for that. I still would like to have that feature for the volume rocker too. When I'm working outside and I have my phone plugged into my toolbox it would be nice to be able to skip forward without have to take off my gloves.

I know I can use the front facing camera to take a self portrait but the picture quality is not very great. Is there anyway I could make the power button double as the physical camera button with having the phone got into power down mode. I search the forum and yet to find decent alternative

if you look again in development there is an aio mod that makes the volume rocker the button. and you zoom in by pinch.
This camera mod works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284486
I have to be rooted I assume

UnNamed ROM that I'm using lets you use the volume rocker. Lots of other great features, I'd highly recommend it.

I'm going have to check that out. Just got this phone the other day so I'm just root and leave roms alone for a min. I am going install that mod

So I just rooted my Kindle Fire and installed CM10 and I LOVE it! But the only thing I need is a volume control of some sort. Anyone got something like that sorted out? I did search but couldn't find anything specific. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Volume Control by RUBBERBIGPEPPER works great. I use the free version and it's awesome.

This is the best volume management. Absolutely wonderful!
I even used it on my Galaxy Nexus for a few days, but made no sense since it has a volume rocker.
You won't be disappointed! (Hopefully..)

You can also try VOLUME IN NOTIFICATION app.
I have been using volume in notification for quite a while now until I just found this thread and discovered rubberbigpepper... Think I might be using this for now on... Very nice!

You Have to use status bar volume plus

I've been using "Notification Toggle". Works great. Tons of options. Using it on my S3 as well for brightness adjustment and EZ flashlight

This one works fine for me.
To the OP, I take it you're doing this for a tablet in the car? You doing an indash mount? What kind of car? I've got a kindle fire running cm10 in my powerstroke diesel right now. Not perm mounted, probably going to build a docking station setup in the drivers sun visor though.
If you have twa_ piv cm10, you can get the volume slider on the notification screen.

+1, I used "Volume in Notification" before switching to this rom. I like the slider much better.

One more here for 'volume in notification'
A kindle running CM really needs this IMO. For my kids it is a real lifesaver combined with tabletUI
Volume In Notification is my favorite of all of these. The sliders in the first one can get in the way occasionally but this is always out of the way unless needed.

I haven't tried this app on a Kindle Fire (I wish I had a Kindle Fire), but I think SVC+ will work with it. I use it on my Galaxy and I love it. It only takes seconds to change volume using this app. I've used other sound control apps and this one is by far the easiest to use.
You guys should be careful with any sound app the speakers on the 1st gen fire I heard they are really weak and they can blow out very easy just a heads up

Leave it alone, please.

I would advice not to play with the volume because my speakers on my kindle fire 1st generation blew while trying out different volume apps. Playing around the volume is something you don't wanna mess around with.
So when I was on custom roms There was this awesome feature that you can control your music using volume buttons when the screen is off. But I returned to stock and I miss this feature a lot. If you guys know how I can get the feature on stock please share. Thx
Ditto. I loved that feature when I had my nexus s. I'm currently using jedi 7.2 but it isn't part of this rom. Is there a way to add this?

Use poweramp, it's a well rounded music app with lots of extras.
I'm aware of poweramp but it still doesn't give you the option to change songs without turning the screen on.

Is there any way to get the control talk cable that comes with the Beats by Dre headphone or the Monster headphones to work? By work I mean the volume up and down buttons to do something, anything? I had and HTC EVO 3D and the up and down buttons would cause it to skip to the next track, well at least one of the buttons would it would play the next song on Pandora and that really all I listen to as far as music but I listen to it a lot. On the galaxy note 2 the only button that works is the center button which will play/pause/and answer and hang up calls, it also will allow google search but that isnt what i need at this moment. I was wondering if there was a way that a Developer on this forum could write a program to allow those buttons to function with our phone?
No clue I see......... damn it.......lol

If you double tap the Center button, it should skip to the next song also.

As you know the speakers are loud on the One. The minimum setting is very loud for an early morning
Anyone know of a more controlled volume app that could set the minimum volume lower for media?

Installed Volume+ from PlayStore - makes it just a little bit quieter, but still not enough

Or wait when devs add volume steps tweak to roms... It's nice tweak...
Really want to keep it stock. I'll get into a ROM spin if I start... And i dont want to start as i wont stop.
Would just prefer this phone as is. Still a little app would be great.

Interestingly, when I use the phone volume button rocker to change the TV volume (via the ir remote app), one push on the phone moves 3-4 increments on the tv

Right!
'Fine volume control' from app store seems to work.
FYI volume at its lowest on this phone is 8% which is rather too high.

This is my biggest bugbear with this phone. On minimum volume, both on speaker and headset, it's way too loud. I hope HTC realise this and fix it soon.
OT - does anyone else hear a constant annoying clicking through the headset, even when there is no music playing? I hope HTC fix this too.
there is a mod in the trickdroid thread to increase volume steps. i think its around post 5400

Here is a better solution. Dsp manager lite. I just set the db sliders down now I have a lower volume and highest volume is still ok.
