are you using the official cable? Perhaps the cord is damaged. You can try downloading the drivers here: http://www.archos.com/support/support_tech/updates.html
no it isnt the official cable i lost that a while ago. it isnt damaged and it works on my vista computer.
i may just be being thick but i couldnt find any drivers for the 80g9 on the website.
If you're 64-bit, forget it. Archos don't do drivers in 64-bit versions.

i got an S3.. and my computer has xp pro. i had to restore my computer recently from a saved image of my system. before i restored my computer, i was able to connect my S3 to it via USB with no problem. but after i restored it, i'm unable to.
i downloaded and installed the MTP driver, which got my computer to recognize my phone before i restore it. but now its not working and i dont see it listed in Device Manager. whats weird is that when i connect my S3 to my computer, the phone doesnt give any notifications that the phone is connected to USB like it used to before. and it also doesnt give me the 2 options of connecting by either MTP or Camera. all it does is charge my phone. how do i fix this?

Try a different USB cable. I had a similar problem and using another cable fixed it for me.

You also might get the pdanet usb driver and install that in your PC in order to get the usb to recognize an internet access via USB.
You should be able to download the USB driver from PDANet's website.
Just a "maybe" thought. Hope it helps!
You might first want to check this link out:

I recently acquired a Sony Xperia C6506 (ZL LTE). Before I start playing around with this phone, i need to offload some photos. I'm trying to connect the phone to my laptop running Windows 7 via the USB. My system does not recognize the phone. I'm assuming it's because I don't have the correct driver on my windows system . (I've also tried "PC Companion but had no luck there either). I searched the Sony web site for a driver but did not see a specific one for the C6506. Does anyone know where I can find the correct driver for the USB on Windows 7? Or does anyone have any other ideas why this might not be working?
Thanks
I have the same phone and windows 7 recoginzed it and installed the driver by itself. Didn't remember if it downloaded it or found it from the system. Perhaps you can try the PC companion software from Sony.

What happens when you connect the phone to your PC? Anything? Do you see any messages popping up? Any errors? Do you see it in device manager? Also, do you see any messages on your phone when you plug it in? What USB connection mode is set in your phone's settings? In general, MTP should be the most universal method.
I have the same phone, and it is recognized perfectly by Windows 7 (at work) and Windows 8.1 (at home). When you install Sony PC Companion, it includes the proper drivers, so you don't need to do anything extra (you do need additional drivers for flash mode and ADB, but that's a different topic). I would suggest trying another PC, to see if it makes any difference. If it still doesn't work, it might be something with your phone...
As an alternative, you can use a WiFi connection to access your files on the phone. I often use either ES File Explorer or Software Data Cable - they both provide an FTP service that you can connect to from your PC over WiFi.
Have you tried with another cable? My Xperia is recognized perfectly out-of-the-box on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, as soon as I connect it, PC starts to search and download drivers, no PC Companion installed nor Flashtool drivers. :/

Yeah, that would be a good option to start, forgot to mention it. I've seen bad USB cables quite a few times, more often than I'd expect...
Thanks again for the quick replies and the suggestions cause they worked - it was the cable. The cable I was using was capable of charging the phone but did not allow Windows to recognize it. I used a different cable and it worked fine. Tharnks again. Now the fun begins changing the phone into a media playing device. If you have any suggestions on this I'm all ears.
Thanks
Someone with more knowledge please help me.
I can not, for the life of me, get my computer to recognize my watch.
I've tried everything, I've tried installing the driver package another user posted.
I've enable usb debugging in dev settings.
I have adb working correctly but when I type adb devices it's blank.
The only glimmer of hope is I successfully connected my watch via bluetooth debugging and got a debugging dialog on my watch.
I've tried on two computers as well
I really need a detailed guide on how to get my computer to recognize this damn thing
Thanks - A very frustrated novice

Does your PC react at all when you plug in the USB cable? (Sorry if this is too basic.) Just wondering if its a bad charging cable.

Yes, my pc makes a noise and in my device manager the watch is identified as a Marshall London device. I think that's due to one of the many drivers I attempted to install. Thanks for your help by the way

Any ideas?
I have some problem how to solve??Any one have solve?
Thx
I've posted this many times in the various Huawei forums and it has worked for everyone so far.
First, remove all other drivers using USBDeview.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html
Then use this tutorial to manually install the Google USB driver.
http://visualgdb.com/KB/usbdebug-manual/
Good luck!
edit - here is a fool proof method.

I could not connect my Lumia 950 to a Windows 10 PC using the data cable the phone came with.
When I connect them the phone asks if I want to enable "data connection" I push yes. The PC is installing some 950 firmware or driver but nothing happens. I cannot reach the phone. Any idea?
try install Windows Device Recovery Tool (because drivers)
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=525569
P.S.
in case that not helped, also try install Nokia Software Recovery Tool (this tool not working with Lumia phones but install and fix current drivers)
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=525568
you dont need to enable any data connection, just plug USB cable and look in "My Computer"
if Windows Phone not show in "My Computer" go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers, look for Windows Phone there

Doesn't work. It cannot find driver for it. I tried it more times using different USB ports. This is ridiculous. A Microsoft product cannot find driver for another Microsoft product.
driver work just fine... seems your Windows update not working (or you block something). i dont have any problem with Lumia 950 on Windows 10 Pro
did you try install Windows Device Recovery Tool and Nokia Software Recovery Tool? (you have drivers in this tools)

Not sure, how can I check?
I solved it. If anybody runs into similar issues the problem was the Windows itself. I had Win 10 Pro N version freshly installed. Win 10 Pro N doesnt contain Media Player which is needed to connect a mobile phone even an Android. Which is strange. I realized when I couldnt connect an old Android either.
I tried to install media feature set but it didnt help. I had to reinstall Win 10 Pro version. Everything works now.
so you moved the piano because you couldn't move the chair?
Mine was connecting a week ago, but now the Lumia 950 is recognized by Windows Device Recovery Tool , but doesn't appear in the file browser no more.

I had the same issue and found this thread while looking, my issue is that the usb3 port of my pc would only charge the phone, no other options available however when I moved the usb cable to a usb 2 port everything worked as it should, phone companion, import photos etc, strange considering the cable supplied with phone is fast charge usb c type yet in doesn't work in the fastest port on my pc.
hope this helps someone out
I had a similar issue after Win 10 anniversary update. Plugging phone into USB 3 hub would not recognize the phone (even though it worked before the update). I tried plugging it directly into a USB port on the MB and it recognized the phone, installed the drivers, and connected. AFTER this, I was able to connect via the USB 3 hub, as I had before the update. Hope this helps somebody.
Interesting...
I had some similar problem with the Continuum docking station, where the provided (with the dock) cable wouldn't allow the phone to see it at first.
It then worked after I swapped both ends... Go figure.
Hello guys,
It seems I have the same issue here, but my phone won't turn at all its just vibrate when plug in the cable.
I want to connect it to the PC to use windows device recovery tool.
I think its a known problem (Lumias) so any help will be appreciated !

Hi all,

is there any device with a question- or exclamation mark in the device manager? when connected, is your device shown as "ADB generic" or similar in device manager?
in both scenarios you'd have to install another driver.
Hi.
Had a similar issue. I just uninstalled the driver in device manager and it got recognized.
Think it was som sort of Kedacom driver.
Thanks

I tried that earlier with no luck.
I was able to borrow a friend's known working Nexus 5X and plugged it into my PC and it was detected just fine. Swapped my 5X in using the same cable and USB port and nothing. I'm beginning to suspect a hardware issue.
