To start. Anyone That has a bricked phone or a broken market place.Pu your sd card in your pc redownload RC33 rename it update.zip, put it back in your phone and pull the battery if you are stuck on the start screen. Then follow the steps for normal update.
To the skinners. Please learn to fully check your work. Every Single RC33 skin on here is breaking peoples phones. I have tried EVERY single one and not a single one is working properly. You are putting people threw hell screwing up their phones. Its not that we do not appreciate your time and effort but ours is jsut as important and to have to keep reloading our phones because your taking shortcuts is not fair to anyone.

first off, there are usually disclaimers for all themes here on this board. You install a theme at your very own risk and we (theme makers) do this for the community. You can def. choose to install or not. If you noticed a lot of the errors are coming from users not following the right instructions to apply the themes. Most work here on this board are not final hence the title beta. In return we are getting feedback as to what we can improve or fix. If your on this forum, than you should know the risks involved in doing such things to your phone and have taken the necessary precautions to eliminate some of the headaches in the process. I DO TAKE OFFENSE to this as most of the theme makers on here put in endless hours to share something.
edit: also please do not pull out your battery. That's just silly. Please ask someone on this board if your unsure. there are ways to do things correctly. grrrr

I agree, I check all my work on MY OWN phone first and never screwed anything up... they might be using wrong versions other than what i posted or doing something wrong.. but i put my phone through the crapper before anyone elses dude...
Edit: I enjoy doing themes and lately I havent had many updates due to my job and family... but i love making themes and I USE my themes daily..
I hope that most of you appreciate what us theme devs are doing and I find this post troubling to me.

When someone offers to give you something for free out of kindness, take it or leave it.
Besides, I have never had a problem with any of these themes..
Why? Cuz I don't leave it all up to a theme dev, its also my responsibility to check that everything is in order.
Most apps / themes / ROM's are all still in development - you download and install as a tester and report any bugs / problems you find to the developer. If you can't handle that then don't install anything that isn't a final version; however, I challenge you to find any app or theme - Pay or Free, Final version or not that doesn't still have some bugs?
I for one am extremely thankful for everything / apps, themes, etc.. that these people have put so much hard work and long hours into developing. Our devices are better because of their hard work. Thanks to everyone

Learn how to apply the themes properly, there are plenty of RC33 compatible themes.

LMAO you have flashed your phone the amount of times as there are themes? what is that 10 or so? I will put money down that i have flashed at least 100 times with my FadetoBlue theme alone. I am sure every other themer has also. I have installed ADP1.1 on my phone because testers were having problems with the port of my theme. You think we don't check our work? how do you think we see how it looks after we create it? We have no choice but to flash our phones and you want to give us **** because your not smart enough to have a second SDcard with JF's RC33 install? I can see were they say ignorance is bliss, but in this situation it just makes you look like an arse! Try reading a bit before using something you don't understand! Wait a min you don't have to understand it, there is about 1000 people here that will hold your hand threw the whole process!
It's flamers like you that ruin a community, instead of educating yourself, you feel you need to tell the devs what they should be doing. If you don't like the job we are doing put in the 4 hours or so to learn how to theme!

alot of the bad flashes happen from bad downloads...
i have had to download some files twice to get the full file... also downloading straight to the phone without the pc can lead to corrupted downloads and partial downloads.
if you have a backup sdcard, just put the jf rc1.41 on there and name it update.zip incase of emergency...

I agree, OP, your post is completely uncalled for. If you hate the risks involved in trying out new themes then dont try any. Themeing is not an exact science and is still relatively new. I can also support the argument that many themes have disclaimers on them warning you about the possibilities that things can happen.
SO, with all that said it is your own fault for bricking your phone.
It is your own fault for all the trouble you've put yourself through.
It is you that downloads the update.
It is you that puts it on your phone.
It is you that presses alt - s. We dont make you do anything, therefore, it is your fault.

That's what I do... I have a reader and usually keep backup flashes on a 25MB card I had from back when I first got a phone with an SD Card.

sorry dude but you are an IDIOT. I've put 2 different R33 themes on my phone and NOT one has bricked my phone. Do better research before you flame and create a thread that has no facts to support it.

this is probably my 2nd or 3rd post only do to the fact that unlike most ppl I USE THE SEARCH OPTION when im having ans issue lol. ever since i got my first smartphone (t-mobile dash) and i found this site i've been sooo much happier. the devs and even other ppl like myself have made me the envy of many ppl due to their hard work and i definitly appreciate it. this post was sort of off topic but its dummies like op that piss me off. most themes/updates have DISCLAIMERS and most even have DETAILED walkthroughs dont blame anyone but yourself if u dont pay attention or ask question and use SEARCH FORUMS option. sidebar (im so hooked on this site that on a trip to south carolina where i was roaming on at&t's service on one bar that i actually drove 6 miles to sit on the side of the highway for 1hr until i got a good signal JUST so i could download the newest themes and jf's update) lol who new no one in the south wouldnt have wifi that i could steal? bottomline i love this site and all ur hard work! a dedicated G1 owner! ps. in the spirit of the market FIRST! lmmfao
I read over at "removed" that 7 comp themes are available at "removed". If so how did they get them and why aren't we shutting them down.

You have to realize, once that site got a hold of them. They can do whatever they please as long as the themers dont have a claimer in their themes stating no one other then so so may post or publicize their themes.
Which we all know, about 80% of these themers didnt have an issue before but might have one now.
I dont know if we can do anything.
But the question is, how they got them in the first place. I thought these weren't distributed for a certain amount of time.
Judges and donors where given the themes prior to public release.
As far as im concerned, One of them, owns that site, or gave that site a link to them, or someone uploaded them somewhere and someone sniffed it out.
I'd imagine they are a judge, or someone who donated, and has acces to the themes allready... google isn't bringing up anything easily at least.... mmmm moon dust is out there somewhere

Here I sit at the end of approximately 78 hours of a joyfully sleep deprived journey of pure tech excitement. It all started with my two month old G1 Dream, which I am crazy about, suddenly began to annoy me with its ridiculously small internal memory. I offered my dilemma to the overlord of infinite knowledge, Google, and all roads kept leading me here. I began to read, found answers,and developed the uncontrollable urge to join the action. I've read, rooted, rommed, wiped, re-rooted, re-rommed, nearly bricked, cried, picked myself up, read some more, fixed, and utterly tweaked my G1 into a steroid laced technological work of art. Twice I wanted to ask questions but fought my hands away from the keyboard as I read the seemingly harsh and usually condescending replies as my fellow noobs received. Quick and deadly were the Chinese stars of sarcasm as they split their heads open, ending each post with "you would have found this if you'd just taken the time to read the forum". Each one of them ending in that little blue "Link of Shame" they provide linking you right to the detailed answer that was posted like two weeks ago. Not me....no sir! I decided to read and discover the what lies within for myself. I'm so glad I did too because I've learned more about my G1 here in three days than all my accumulated phone knowledge combined. This place is a tech-rebels think tank of knowledge from some really knowledgeable people. Everything I studied and tried was 100% accurate and easy to follow. Thanks to all of you for sharing your discoveries with all of us "Noobs" out here. I'm hooked on XDA! Sleep.....we don't need sleep where we're going....STANDBY FOR REBOOT!!

I'm a carrier for the XDA virus....
I raced to the office today to ignore the growing pile of work on my desk, darted past my idiot boss mumbling something about deadlines or some crap, and sat down to start the day off with a triple espresso and a theme flash straight from the XDA threads. As I waited for my phone to reboot I started feeling the sharp pinch of conviction. All day long people, myself included, run to the elite developers of XDA for endless advice on flashing, features, firmware,roots, roms, and recovery screens and freely download to their hearts content. Then strut around showing everyone there phones as if they were some sort of underworld hackers. But does anyone stop to think about all the endless hours or trial and error, defeat, lines of code, complaints, and everything else that goes into these works of art? Each day I learn a little something more and gain a deeper insight on the hard work that so many put in so that I can carry around my super fast , fully loaded, and ready to tether G1 each day. Allthough I really dont think these folks do what they do for fame or fortune, I still feel like I need to give credit where obvious credit is due. Thanks for the hard work, warm welcomes, and dead on advice I recieve each day here. And the flavor of the day today is an RC29 build, Cyanogen pimped out recovery and his latest update, very nice "Black Ice" theme, and a phone I cant seem to put down. Oh crap...here comes that jack a** boss of mine and my boot loader is stuck in a loop. I gotta start establishing better priorities.......like getting up and closing my office door so I can wipe and reflash this bad boy!!

I understand that with the NOV OTA, you are unable to root your device with Unrevoked... Unless you are S-off. And S-off doesn't pertain to this thread. Can someone confirm that the Unrevoked team are working on updating it? I've heard the "just wait until they release it". But I would like to put my mind at ease... and others that are... stuck. We haven't heard a peep out of the team since the OTA dropped.
You would probably be better off hitting them up on IRC or Twitter.
Twitter to no-avail. One would assume they know about the issue. Instead of leaving such a large base in the dark, it would be appropriate they they would shed some light on the situation.

I'm sure they know...but I am basing this off of nothing. They had the same issues when 2.2 came out, so they'll get something going. Don't worry, pestering them more about it won't make it come any quicker.
When they are ready, they will say something, just because they haven't doesn't mean that they don't know about it. Patience.

Its the digital age, it takes 5-30 seconds to post a tweet. LOL I am being patient. I'm not just speaking on my behalf. There are other people out there that would like some closure, just look at the General, Q&A's and the other subforums for the device. The posts speak for themselves.

If all those people who are looking for "closure" pony'd up some donations, they could ask all they want. The unrevoked team does not charge for their work, so I would not "expect" anything until it comes. Something you read time and time again on these forums from developers is "don't ask for an ETA".

I didn't ask for an ETA. If you would have read the post thoroughly I never asked for one. Anyway the purpose of this thread is for the team to at least mention they're working on it rather than not saying anything at all. Just my two cents.
I'd like to get an update to the Unrevoked rooting method myself. I need an update and I need it fast I'm getting itchy hands from wanting to root. Hurry the hell up Unrevoked. You guys need to lay of my buddy cwowtbang's nuts and worry about other **** he's not the only one that's trying to find out when the update will become available there are thousands of us.

What about this post makes you think anyone would expedite results to you? All devs, including the Unrevoked team, work hard to produce results, as it is their collective passion to tinker and code. With or without you, results and progress will be made. And, seeing as how you do not sign their paychecks (do you?), there really is no incentive to respond to your gross, and ridiculously aggressive post.
Patience carries a lot of wait.
So the reason I can't root my droid incredible right now is because of the latest update on the phone? Well, I guess I will stop pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I did wrong then and wait for an update.
As for the donations, I'm a big open source fan, using linux exclusively for a decade, always contribute one way or another, gave a phone to the bitpim group a while back, created a linux help webpage, answer questions in forums, donate a dollar to free apps I use on my droid, etc. Hopefully others do the same thing.
Quite the sense of entitlement displayed by some. It bears mentioning that none of us are owed a damn thing.

Read your "boy's" post above yours, he's "not asking for an ETA"... He just wants someone from Unrevoked to come on here and say "we are working on it..."
If you need it so quick and cannot wait, then learn how to code and contribute. Devs don't need people like you telling them to "hurry up" just because you said so. Mind you, they do this stuff because they enjoy it, and they don't get paid except for when people donate to them. Did it ever occur to anyone that if they just "whipped up" and released something which started bricking phones left and right, everyone would then complain about how it wasn't thoroughly tested?!
Send them a sizable donation with your "hurry it up will ya" message, and see what happens...if not, then just wait like everyone else has to.

STOP RUSHING ME AND LET ME DO WHAT I NEED TO DO. I have school you know. This is my last full week that I have to see my friends and other things like that, then it's off to exams. If you were on my end, You'd see how busy I am. AND if he had a facebook, I hacked my friend's KIN as well. So guys please stop rushing me. It is starting to make me mad. Ever since I had said something you guys have been up my @ßß. If you wish not to end up in the current state I'm on (which is possibly a brick waiting for a phone to come tomorrow) then I suggest you wait. @johnkussiack, please come in feel free to comment leave your opinions but tell these guys how hard it is to hack a phone successfully. I would hate to see you guys end up with a brick, and I would feel responsible. Let me do what needs to be done. I'll upload screenshots and what I've done, Give me time.

just upload the guide honestly & let the users choose for themselves weather or not they want a brick. I got a year warranty so I will return it till im blue in the face. What did you expect when you first stated that you found a way into the Kin & made the announcement?

To be truthful with you guys, the screenshot was a fake, EXCEPT THE RECENT BOX AND TIME BOX, I edited those so they shade until you click them. I wanted you guys to lay off me for awhile. But I promise, I did not pull your chain guys, I hate when people do that, trust me, I had the enV touch and someone said they had android on the phone but it was a fake. The guy took a picture from google and pasted on the phone. So I left the facebook group because people were flaming me. Well guys later.

Here i stopped having any interest. As i told ya, post or don't post, but no teasers.
You can do small things, you can asure people that you got access to the phone, you can say that you did but you dont know what to do with it.
But never.... ever!! fake things. Now every post that you text, every image that you upload... will have the "Suspicius fake?" mark above it, even if this time is real.
Also, you were flamed in the group with reasons. You posted in a cocky mood about "recording your face when you see it", and then you say that some pictures were fake. That's flame fuel.
PS: btw, my nick doesnt have any "i" character. It's like the actor, but with "K". Just cause i saw it twice by now.
My problem is this. Like I said I understood you had a death in your family but you have a cocky attitude for one got on my nerves, You Faked the photo which I already had doubts on anyways.
What got me is this you said that you have been having problems with your phone for sometime now even before you started hacking into it. Then all of a sudden your phone doesnt turn on correctly you blamed it on the "So Called Hacks"
Prior to this you made a statement that you didnt want help because you didnt want people "stealing your work"
If you do have access to the phone put up the guide even if you did screw your phone up Ok but you cant claim something then never do it. We are Adults here not children it is our choice weather or not we want to attempt the job or not. There are smart users here that you & we can benefit from to get it done faster.
It doesnt take that long to write a simple guide. Either in my opinion A You are just B.S & trying to make yourself sound important or Your just lazy & cant write a 30 minute Tutorial.
Side Note You stated on Facebook when I got mad you said Do you want me to make a video showing proof?. If you can take time to make a video you can easily make time to write the tutorial.

Wow. some people here need to CALM DOWN. Give the guy a break. If he is in possession of useful information, name calling and what not is not going to help. If he isn't, name calling and what not is not going to help. While I think it would reflect poorly on him if he has been falsely leading people on, I for one take any 'breaking' news here with a grain of salt. I'll believe it when I see the proof, and until then, I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about it.
I'm somewhat hopeful for what JohnKussack's discoveries may hold, and mainly because he has actually been able to demonstrate what he has discovered.

Im just not understanding why the guide cant be posted thats all. I understand that your busy and all, but you seem to have enough time posting videos of your phone not working and talking about random things...
