When you're in TWRP, plug Kindle into the computer and go to Mount and then Mount USB. Then transfer a rom to your Kindle. Unmount. Wipe cache, dalvik cache. Then flash the rom. There are tons of Jellybean and ICS roms in the Development section that you can use.
Edit: Here it is a little bit easier to read
1) Let the Kindle boot into TWRP
2) Plug Kindle into Computer and Mount USB (Mount>Mount USB)
3) Download a rom from the Development section
4) Transfer the <whatever the rom name is>.zip to the Kindle
5) Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, and Factory Reset
6) Install the rom
7) Reboot and don't make the mistake again. lol.
where is the development section
Thank You Guys!:good::victory:
Sorry to keep bugging but can I unroot from here on.
I download JellyBean and it works fine but I want my kindle back to the original settings-Stock.

Try the MoDaCo GR9 ROM. It's exactly like stock but you have access to play store also and it has some customizations.
Kindle Fire Problems Need HELP
So I just got my kindle fire for my birthday a week and a half ago, and I really wanted to get google play. So I rooted my device using TWRP with the hopes to install Modaco. Well the problem is that now even with installing the drivers the 'path' is not recognized by any thing and I'm not sure if it's bricked (Can access TWRP with a hard reboot in recovery) or the interface is entirely wiped outside TWRP. I would post what it was stated in Wget but this is my first post so gotta wait 9 more posts before pasting apparently. Noob here obviously.... i feel horrible cuz even though it's mine my boyfriend got it for me... and yeah he's severely disappointed. >.>
Any Help is greatly appreciated, a walk through even better. The warranty is void and the store it was bought from will not take returns on KF. Please help Thank you! :crying:
Will add also that it comes up under device manager as two differnt things:
Android ADP Device
&
under USB's:
USB Composite Device (Not Kindle, etc etc)
Next time your online pm me I will help you look at what the problem is

I have a kindle fire with no OS, it has TWRP recovery and I was trying to wipe android 4.0 from it and re install 6.2.2 but I accidentally deleted the OS and any hope of re installing it. I cannot communicate with the device whatsoever using kindle utility or Kindle fire unbricker. I played with the drivers for awhile in device manager to no avail. it currently sits in 'Disk Drives' as Amazon Kindle USB device but I cannot put anything on it because it it's showing up as a proper driver or w/e. when I turn it on I get what I believe is the firefirefire triangle and if I choose to I can access TWRP, but when I left it fully boot I get a black lighting. Any help is extremely appreciate. I did look around for a bit before posting my question and found nothing that fit my problem but if there is such a thread I'm sorry I posted an unnecessary one.
have you tried mounting your kindle in twrp if you can then just flash a new ROM and you should be good to go
Sent from my CM9 LG G2X using Tapatalk
I thought I already tried that but I went back and fiddle with a few settings and got access to my kindle, I went looking for the kindle 6.2.2 stock rom and couldn't find a download, I need to find a stock download because brother plans on selling this kindle, I'm only helping because I was the one who rooted and put android 4.0 on there.
TLR; Where can I get kindle fire stock rom at?
One does not simply delete an entire OS.... ;~;

Okay, I realize I tend to come off a little "jerky" sometimes, but I really am trying to help. When you hijack a thread that's several months old and post a problem that seemingly has nothing to do with the OP, only to later reveal that there is much more to your problem (even after being suggested to do it differently), it makes other people that would normally be willing to help, think twice about getting involved. Nobody wants to have to ask 50 different questions to get to the root of the problem. You need to realize that the people who would help, probably don't want to do more work than absolutely necessary. And you should be respectful of that if you want some quality assistance from the people who might be able to solve your problem.
So once again, and respectfully, I suggest you click on the link I gave you, read it, do any suggested research and follow the directions given in the post.
Hey I'm having the same problem. I tried to root my kinble fire and accidentilly wiped the stockos off it but I have TWRP on the device, however I am not able to mount the device using twrp to put a ROM on the device to boot to. Any help getting the device to be recognized by the computer and mounting it would be a great help and any other info about installing a ROM to my kindle would also be a big help.

I actually figured everything out about 2 hours after my post. In order to get the Kindle recognized by my pc I had to change it over to USB composite device then I was able to load a ROM on it and I am now enjoying jelly bean 4.1 on the kindle now. I have not been able to restore the kindle os but I am assuming that if I look long enough for the kernal and firmware I will be able to restore it. Not that I have any plans to seeing as I have a dedicated android tablet now that does everything I want it and need to do anyways, I read on the kindle for like 3 months when it first came out, not worried about reading on it any more besides there's an app for it. Anyways thanks for the reply.
Hi, sorry if it is bad manners to post in threats months old but I am also having a similar problem with my kindle fire.
Today I spent hours rooting it and trying to get the google play store to work on it - all in a dangerously haphazard manner. It was really reckless of me.
Somewhere in the process I used KFU 0.9.9 after restoring to stock and re-rooting, then after a reboot the OS would't show up. it seemed like it loaded and everything but I couldn't see anything after it loaded past TWRP. I wiped system, and now am without an OS and only TWRP to use.
Some details:
Mounting works
Flashing stock is NOT WORKING. This is my main problem. I don't know any other method of restoring an OS; I do not know how sideloading with ADB works, or if that would help at all.
Much apologies in advanced for my juvenile-ty
thanks

Need more information; as in...
What OS are you using? How familiar are you with it?
What's your current level of experience?
What exactly did you do to "reset to factory settings"?
Have you flashed a ROM to your Kindle or leave it stock?
When you say "it goes to the twrp then goes to the orange kindle fire", are you saying that it boots up to the TeamWin blue curtain splash screen then goes back to the stock boot logo? Or is it something completely different?
Are you familiar with the difference between TWRP and FireFireFire?
Based on your description and depending on your current understanding of how the Kindle Fire works, your problem could be one (or more) any number of things.

Hi,
You download Kindle_Fire_Utility_v0.9.6 and run it.
Then choose 1 then 1 ( normal mode). KF is live again.
If still live again, you try Kindle Unbrick
If still live again, can you try factory cable and run command
fastboot -i 0x1949 boot twrp-blaze-2.0.0RC0.img
In TWRP, you can install rom stock kf ( download rom for KF from Amazon)
reseting bootmode sounds realistic but as you can see in his post above he says his kindle goes to recovery I suggest doing very little till you have fully explained your situation with better clarity as soupmagnet recommended in his response.
sorry guys
You guys are right, i should explain better and ill try to, I don't have much knowledge of the Kindle fire. OKay so, I have a kindle tht runs andriod software 6.3.1. I've recently rooted my kindle using 0.9.6 utility. I've upgraded my kindle to go launcher ex. I wanted to reset my kindle to how i bought it at the beginging. So i went to device menu and put it to factory resent, which didnt reset everything. Then i turned it off and tried going to twrp to see if i can find a reset to normal button. There wasn't any, and after twrp when it goes to the orange kindle logo, it just stays there and doesnt do anything. The kindle fire logo isnt lighting up or changing at all. So i need some help on what to do, thanks hope this information is better
If you just want a factory Reset then just flash the Kindle Fire Stock ROM.
First go into TWRP.
Just to be safe go to wipe and wipe cache, dalvik's cache, and then do a factory reset. Then put the Kindle Fire Stock ROM zip file on your kindle fire. To do this go into TWRP and select Mount. Now you can acess your sd card so put it on there. Now go to install and you should see the .zip file. Install it and you have a brand new Stock ROM(basically a factory reset).

So you couldn't do it because it wont detect your device? Did you try going to TWRP and pressing mount? If that doesn't work, then I'm not really sure what you can do. It should detect it. Try a hard reset and mount again. Sorry that I cant really help you right now
Could you maybe give anymore information? Like what it says when you plug it into your computer.

Hello, I bricked my kindle fire by flashing a update.zip file because I wanted to return to stock. I wiped everything from cache to system and now my Kindle Fire just hangs on the KF screen.
I tried using KFU, FireKit, and I can get into adb but I can't access the adb shell and I can not get into fastboot.
Any help would be appreciated. And I don't know if my battery is even charging either. The battery is dead. Thanks.
I'm having the same problem except I soft bricked mine. :c It doesn't even show up on ADB.
I literally just had this exact problem, and the ONLY thing that actually worked was buying a factory cable from SKORPN. After I got it, all I had to do was plug it in and used the Kindle fire utility to install FIREFIREFIFE and boom, it worked like a charm.

Even if your computer won't recognize the Kindle fire, it won't matter. The factory cable made by SKOPRN is specially made for your computer to recognize it, but it won't say that it has recognized it. By the way, there is no utility that will unbrick your fire, and trust me I have tried. The only thing that actually worked was buying a factory cable. It's only 12-13 dollars and if your fire ever gets bricked again, the cable will save the day. Almost always.
Pls try reinstalling the drivers.. I have attached the steps below: It should help

I did all that, besides I can't get past step 2 because it says ADB is offline. Even with the drivers installed it shows up on the computer. What am I doing wrong
EDIT: I got it to activate ADB but still won't go on fastboot or anything. Atleast I got somewhere but now what? It won't even start up lmao. Why did I ever have to install CM9 on my device without installing FireFireFire
EDIT again: LOL I just broke it even more now it doesn't get past the Kindle fire screen, now what? Atleast I have a reason to take it to best buy now, the last time I went I said it was a hardware issue, now I can say it won't get past the kindle fire screen. Maybe I can take it back there and see if they can do anything xD
EDIT again: Good news, it's broken enough to get a new one! So I'm gonna get a refund and see how this goes c;

Just so you know, your device was never "broken". You just don't know what you're doing. But I agree with the previous post. Until you have a better idea of how the Kindle Fire works, leave it stock.
---------- Post added at 04:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:19 PM ----------
[Edit:] And this constant practice of breaking one's own device and sending them back to Amazon despite knowing that it violates the terms of the warranty, is probably one of the biggest reasons Amazon locked down the new Kindle Fire HDs and probably every subsequent device moving forward.
The old saying, "You made your bed, now sleep in it", definitely applies here.
Hey guys, I've been lurking pretty hard the past couple days and can't find a thread that addresses my question, so here goes:
I have a 1st gen Kindle Fire that I don't sue and wanted to put a ROM on it. I grabbed KFU v0.9.6, used the install drivers bat, then I believe I ran permanent root with superuser and TWRP recovery install. This all worked, I used TWRP to create a backup, restored my kindle to factory, and then I put the latest Cyanogenmod rom on it and installed that. This is the point that I'm at now, where I can start my kindle and it boots, but I can't get into recovery mode (I didn't install FireFireFire because I didn't know what it was) and so it boots from the kindle logo to Cyanogenmod, where it hangs as long as I keep it powered on. I've tried reinstalling drivers and running KFU in hopes I can get adb shell to recognize it, and although it does say it's "Online", the boot status is unknown, so it isn't able to reboot it, and adb shell just doesn't recognize it, although adb devices does.
I hope that all made sense, let me know if I need to elaborate on anything or post any screen shots, as I'd be glad to, I just don't know what you need. I'm hoping I haven't bricked it, and that there's some way to get the kindle file system recognized or something, but I haven't been able to figure it out on my own.
Thanks for the help, and again feel free to ask for any sort of info/screenshots.
(Windows 7 x64, Kindle Fire 1st Gen, KFU v0.9.6)
Never Mind
Try KFUBU.
I believe that its not bricked. Try using Kindle Fire Unbrick utility. Pretty neat and easy to use..
I think you should have installed FireFireFire and used the latest KFU, though. Just an opinion.
Anyways, try out the Unbrick Utility. I can't post links here as I'm a new member!
Hit "Thanks" if I helped!
Yea, that's what I figured. I think I had a tutorial from when KFU didn't need firefirefire? I could be making that up. Anyway, thanks for the idea, I'll hopefully try that in the next hour, otherwise I'll be back in a week since I'm gonna be out of town.
Thanks!
Hello guys,
Well am kinda stuck with something really annoying with my kindle fire (1st Edition). Since it had amazon software, i wanted to root it into android jelly beans Rom which i was able to do. But it was a bit laggy so i decided to root it with another Rom which i found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2747564. I plugged the kindle into my pc and i copied the Slimkat Rom and the gapp build 6 into the storage. Then i used the run application found in the KFU. Next thing i did was i pressed the number 1 which is bootmenu and then number 3 for the recovery and it went into TWRP. There i wiped the Dalvick cache, cache, and system. Then i went in install and there were the 2 files Slimkat Rom and the gapp. I installed both which was done fine and i rebooted the system. Here is where it gets nasty, upon rebooting the system it shows the kindle fire blue logo and at the bottom it says Booting...and nothing happens. Its stuck here and i dont know what to do. Another problem is that when i plugged the kindle into my pc with the kindle fire blue logo and the booting...stuff, it doesnt even detect it anymore. Can u guys see if u can help me with this please
Im using windows 7 Ultimate service pack 1 64-bit. Please help me do something to make it work again. Thnks.
Slimkat ROM is an otterx. You need the new boor loader and twrp 2.7.1 in order to flash the ROM. This will change your partitions to otterx rather than the Amazon layout. If this sounds confusing, you should choose a standard otter ROM, not otterx.
