I have a kindle fire with no OS, it has TWRP recovery and I was trying to wipe android 4.0 from it and re install 6.2.2 but I accidentally deleted the OS and any hope of re installing it. I cannot communicate with the device whatsoever using kindle utility or Kindle fire unbricker. I played with the drivers for awhile in device manager to no avail. it currently sits in 'Disk Drives' as Amazon Kindle USB device but I cannot put anything on it because it it's showing up as a proper driver or w/e. when I turn it on I get what I believe is the firefirefire triangle and if I choose to I can access TWRP, but when I left it fully boot I get a black lighting. Any help is extremely appreciate. I did look around for a bit before posting my question and found nothing that fit my problem but if there is such a thread I'm sorry I posted an unnecessary one.
have you tried mounting your kindle in twrp if you can then just flash a new ROM and you should be good to go

I thought I already tried that but I went back and fiddle with a few settings and got access to my kindle, I went looking for the kindle 6.2.2 stock rom and couldn't find a download, I need to find a stock download because brother plans on selling this kindle, I'm only helping because I was the one who rooted and put android 4.0 on there.

Lol one does simply delete an entire is. I made this same mistake and had to push a is to my kindle while in fastboot mode through adb. Took awhile for me to think of it but it finnally worked and I fixed it.

Okay, I realize I tend to come off a little "jerky" sometimes, but I really am trying to help. When you hijack a thread that's several months old and post a problem that seemingly has nothing to do with the OP, only to later reveal that there is much more to your problem (even after being suggested to do it differently), it makes other people that would normally be willing to help, think twice about getting involved. Nobody wants to have to ask 50 different questions to get to the root of the problem. You need to realize that the people who would help, probably don't want to do more work than absolutely necessary. And you should be respectful of that if you want some quality assistance from the people who might be able to solve your problem.
So once again, and respectfully, I suggest you click on the link I gave you, read it, do any suggested research and follow the directions given in the post.

I actually figured everything out about 2 hours after my post. In order to get the Kindle recognized by my pc I had to change it over to USB composite device then I was able to load a ROM on it and I am now enjoying jelly bean 4.1 on the kindle now. I have not been able to restore the kindle os but I am assuming that if I look long enough for the kernal and firmware I will be able to restore it. Not that I have any plans to seeing as I have a dedicated android tablet now that does everything I want it and need to do anyways, I read on the kindle for like 3 months when it first came out, not worried about reading on it any more besides there's an app for it. Anyways thanks for the reply.
Hi, sorry if it is bad manners to post in threats months old but I am also having a similar problem with my kindle fire.
Today I spent hours rooting it and trying to get the google play store to work on it - all in a dangerously haphazard manner. It was really reckless of me.
Somewhere in the process I used KFU 0.9.9 after restoring to stock and re-rooting, then after a reboot the OS would't show up. it seemed like it loaded and everything but I couldn't see anything after it loaded past TWRP. I wiped system, and now am without an OS and only TWRP to use.
Some details:
Mounting works
Flashing stock is NOT WORKING. This is my main problem. I don't know any other method of restoring an OS; I do not know how sideloading with ADB works, or if that would help at all.

I was following directions on how to Root my KF ver. 6.3.1, and everything went wrong. Drivers weren't working, and now, I'm apparently stuck in the Limbo between normal boot and fastboot. I've tried the Firekit option, only to have my hopes shot down fast when my laptop and my desktop refused to boot from my jump drive. Not sure why, but they'll boot from disc drive...weird. It's been 2 days now. Nervous about the battery going out...help!!!:crying:

Well, from what I understand, the tutorial said that if I got stuck, it wasn't a big problem, I'm just stuck in fastboot mode instead of normal boot. Sorry for any misunderstanding!

I just clicked your link and read the information about posting. It's completely correct; there's no way to answer an unknown question after all. I'll try to be as clear as possible: I attempted to follow a guide on liliputing.com on how to root a kindle fire 6.3.1. I went ahead and downloaded the kindle fire utility and unzipped it to a folder on my desktop. I also tried to install the drivers using the file labeled "install_drivers.bat" in the kindle fire utility folder. I thought all went well, but in the guide, the author says that at times, the file may not always work. With this in mind, I ran Kindle fire utility, checked the adb status to see that it was offline, and i started to manually configure the driver by going to device manager. The author said to look for something that said "Amazon", but I only found something that said android...srry, i can't remember what else was there, but I assumed it was the kindle because it's an Android device. But anywho, I went ahead and updated the driver, and the adb status was online in the Kindle fire utility! Thinking this as awesome, i went ahead and installed the permanent boot with Superuser....thats when things went sour. I'm stuck at the KF logo, and my computer will not recognize it at all. I'm at a loss. I'd like to thank you in advance for any advice you could offer.

My apologies about the wait! School is starting and registration is a pain that I've been dealing with for these past couple days. I just recently switched my major from chemistry to computer science, so I may be lacking in a few concepts relating to windows technicalities. I'm more familiar with Unix, so I ask that you bear with me, lol.
I'm afraid I'm having some troubles with the kf utility. I removed and had Windows automatically update the kindle drivers. I also used the drivers batch file on the kf utility itself, and when i attempt to run the utility, my adb status is offline, and my boot is unknown. How would I remedy this? is there anywhere on the forum you can point me to? I can't seem to find anything. I refuse to go back to that old tutorial. It probably wasn't the author, but still...
Unix?...As in actual Unix? Or are you talking about Unix based, like Linux or Mac? This would be a lot less painful if you would ditch the whole Windows/KFU idea and do it manually.

By Unix, I mean Unix based. I'm forced to learn Unix commands for mpi programming and such, lol. I found a cool utility online t restore the kf back to factory settings, unrooted and all. I'm a little tensed up about it, so I think I'll chill out for a little while, and do a full root a little later down the line. Thank you so much for all of your help though. I'd still be stuck otherwise!

I have the same problem, what utility did you utilize?
Now I'm in an even worse position to further prove my dopeyness. :crying: I installed CM10 and GAPPs in the root of my KF2. Went to do the wipes as instructed and then I couldn't get those files or access my KF2 via ADB or USB and I was stuck in TWRP with no OS. I couldn't do a sideload ADB through TWRP or Terminal Emulator since they couldn't find the device. FYI I successfully installed the drivers by restarting my Win8 computer and going through without signing drivers, but the device still wouldn't show up anywhere.
After that nightmare, I shut my KF2 down to do some work and then when I started it back up again, I was stuck in the dreaded orange Kindle Fire bootloop and I can't get into TWRP, ADB or anything else.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!! I didn't realize. I also could swear that a KF2 thread lead me to KFU. Either way, what's the best method to get TWRP on my KF2. I love Jelly Beans. BTW I was able to install GAPPs with KFU without a problem. I just can't get a recovery on it.
I'm a dope. I installed the TweezerMod.apk and I have TWRP.

Yes. If you don't have a fastboot cable.. Get one. You'll need it to restore back to stock.

Its a fast boot cable? Dude- you need to read like EVERYTHING in the dev section here. There is a thread on recovery.

Before I do that, is there anything else that can be done without getting the cable? Believe me, I searched and read everything I could find on the problem, but since I can't get into ADB or TWRP due to the lovely bootloop (and no OS), my options look very limited.
The super sad part is my KF2 was working great for around 1/2 hour, but I got greedy and wanted JB.
BTW if it might be my only hope, is there an easy way to disable Android SDK as pointed out in the First Aide thread since uninstalling seems like a pain?

Your only choice left is to get the fastboot cable. No Adb, recovery OR ROM....
Not sure why you need to disable the SDK or what to do, since I've never used it on windows. I just use the files I need (adb and fastboot) and installed the drivers specific to this device. I've only used the SDK on Linux

ok this is my situation...i got a kindle fire or kindle fire 2 off someone and when i got it i couldnt get passed the White and Orange Kindle fire logo so i decided to search these forums up and down trying different things...decided to buy a factory cable and i get to the Fastboot screen with the green blinking light and i get no further...i have never seen the home screen or anything..just that darn logo until the factory cable came in now im only seeing the fastboot screen...so im guessing this think cant be fixed.
im running windows 7 64bit and i have a linux live usb already set up.
i just wanna get this thing back to stock if its possible. if someone could possibly help me or if you need more info then by all means im here to listen or give the information needed to get this thing working again.
oh and i forgot the device comes up in the device manager as otter2-prod-04
i see posts from everyone thats rooting there device and messing it up that way...this is a stock device and the people that had it i can least say wasnt smart enough to even attempt to root or anything like that.
if someone could add my to skype to see if we can troubleshoot my problem that would be great. because waiting for responses on here is just taking more time...no offense to anyone im just anxious and would like to see whether or not this kf2 can be fixed or just throw it out the window lol

The RootPlus tool looks like it will restore partition images, which I believe you can download from another thread.

Root Plus does not come with saved partition images. Though, it will restore partition images saved using the tool or from other sources. If you choose to use a set of saved partition images from another source, make absolutely sure you are using the correct ones for your device or it will surely brick your device, permanently.
I rooted my Kindle Fire 2 about a week ago and I was really enjoying it. Today I decided that I wanted to get cyanogen mod on my kindle. I went to a a forum page here on XDA which had a one click thing for TWRP. I downloaded it onto my kindle and started to install it. I allowed it with superuser, but then my screen went black and turned red. Now I'm kind of nervous because I've read that now I need to use a Factory/Fastboot cable to restore it. Is there any other way for me to restore my kindle? I can turn it off by holding the power button for 20 secs, but when I turn it back on the logo flashes for 2 secs and the red screen comes back.. Please help.. I'm kinda upset right now

Ok, so if I purchase the cable, will that allow me to enter fastboot and fix the problem? Is fastboot somthing that is already on the device.. or is it something that I should of installed on it beforehand? Someone told me that all I need is the Factory Cable and I can work from there. Is that true?

I'm sorry, I know im asking dumb questions; honestly I'm new to this and I just need some help and I do appreciate the help you are providing. I have read the link you posted, but I have one more question. When I plug in the Factory Cable is fastboot something that is already on the device? I dont think I installed fastboot on my device (if it can even be installed) But I know for a fact that my KF2 is rooted. I know this is a dumb question, but the only way for me to find out is if I ask. Thanks.

i just fixed mine it had a red screen I tried everything....but what worked was the kindle fire first aide...YAY!!!!!
i flashed to 10.2.3 and and rooted it's all good....but you gotta use a fastboot cable...SWEET!!!!

Okay you need factory cable it's really the fastboot cable..got mine from ebay bout $5...download kindle fire first aide...
download and install sdk manager((google it).....plug your kindle to your computer....(with the fastboot cable your screen on the kindle should say fastboot)open the kindle fire first aide and run the RunMe.bat file...choose restore image and run the program....the program also lets you root your device again.....Hope I helped you

Do I have to have my own system image backup? I wasn't able to "adb pull" before all of this because it wouldn't give me r/w permissions due to something called a protective shell or something?

It helps but you can use Kindle Fire FirstAid and a factory fastboot cord and restore to factory. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 You can make a fastboot cord or buy one for 10 bucks, up to you.
He did a good job describing everything.
If you want to try getting custom recovery again, root your Kindle Fire using Bin4ry's method. Use the new method (No Xperia stuff - You'll know when u use it). And use Kindle Fire First Aid and disable OTA updates. Download TweezerMod Installer (Google it) and follow instructions. You will be as amazed, excited, and happy as at first when you recovered your kindle.

cam you help me to unbrick my kindle fire in red screen with kindle fire first aid please
I have installed 22 different driver packages. None work. My PC connects to all my phones so I don't think the problem is there. USB port 2.0. Brand new factory cable (gets fast boot) canyon have the driver pack that works? I can believe how many bs file I have downloaded.
Also, yes, I uninstalled each one after failure an deleted all associated files. Please help before my wife shoots me!!

Turns out thing work better when you actually know what you are doing. But at leas I gained some knowledge. probably had the right drivers for a day and a half. Smh
Okay, let's get this party started. I rooted my Gen1 Kindle Fire a few weeks ago and installed Cyanogenmod, CM11, I think. It worked pretty well. Kinda sluggish, but it's an old tablet so whatever. At one point or another, I had to turn the tablet off and restart it after a few days. And then it broke completely. Still not entirely sure why, but that's not why I'm here. Rebooted to Recovery, and the next five hours were filled with failed install attempts, factory resets, full wipes, and mounting. I stopped doing all of this and went to bed at about 1 AM, so it was all kind of a blur unless state-dependent memory kicks in tonight.
Flash forward to this morning, I get back to work on my Kindle Fire and find that, much to my dismay, I can't mount it. Not even in TWRP. I used to be able to, but now I can't. At first I thought it was the computer, so I went to another computer, and that one didn't work either. No biggie, I'll just use ADB to sideload an OS and then I'll be able to transfer files on there. I install the new OS and the Gapps, but it still won't connect. The next 12 hours at this point are spent googling and trying everything.
So now I'm here. I'd say it was because I damaged the USB port, or wasn't using the proper cord, but I've been using the same cord I always use, and every time I hook it up, it says it's installing drivers, but that installation eventually fails. When I go to Device Manager, The F drive under Portable Devices is usually missing, and the failed kindle driver is under Other Devices.
Now, I could just use ADB, but it's just kind of a pain and needlessly obtuse compared to simple drag and drop, and I'm a little worried at this point because, as previously stated, it won't even mount in TWRP.
If I weren't desperate, I wouldn't have made an account to beg and annoy you fine folks for help, but I've looked everywhere else and can't seem to find anything.

Which bootloader? Have you tried Fastboot commands?

Some people worked very hard to prepare guidance material for beginners like you. So you just have to allot your time and attention reading that.
