don't bite the hand...

hey people, having for the first time(llooooonnng holiday) had time to try different roms ,i hope without fear of contradiction tried the latest being idria, hemli & lt.cmdr.ivan.
lets rember one thing - with only standard operator support(t-mobile,orange,o2 & many others)
THIS HANDSET WOULD BE A PRETTY BRICK.
all the rom's brought forward by the very intuitive and intelluctal people deserve praise and PAYPAL donations.
but i wish to put forward a challenge & or straw poll (hence title)
1) a rom( any rom helmi,indira.jcw,lt.cmd.ivan) -as a vanilla
2) amongst this forum, feature's that work (i.e what people need/want)
3) for me that would be internet sharing ,but hey let's get the poll started
without forgetting ,without sounding sychophatic ,without the help og the above this would be pointless(thats alot of without)
Hi,
I would like to second this initiative.
I specifically want ICS to work on my unit.
Otherwise I would like to thnk everybody on this forum for keeping the Universal alive. Specifically Helmi, Ivan and Indra for the great new firmware.
Please keep up the great work.
Cheers
Ian

new project for XDA website

hello,
how you doin all, hope you keepin' well .. i have new idea and im gonna start to work on it with my team but first wanted to know what you think about it ... the software is easy access way to get the windows and the updates for your pocket pc ... like you run the program you pick your device and you see all the avalible windows (roms) for your device with their download link just an easy way to get roms especially for new users ... an easy way to use it ... all you gonna need is user name and password of ur xda and thats it.. the program will be for sure free to every one and maybe gonna need some guys to manage the update of data base from time to time
tell me what you think about it and any comment you welcome
come on guys just vote just comment if worth bulding this project or not thank u so much
thanks for every one who did read and vote ... hope to have more voices pls
i say go for it!
thanks sil3n
and yea ill start work on it and maybe ill need testers team ill let ya know about it later when i finish the work ... thanks every one
Its a great idea. Maybe:
PC Program: Roms and apps program
PPC Program:Have a apps program, like Microsoft Marketplace? But free.
This might be a good idea.
Iam willing to help you with some stuff.
thanks flyboy ... and rly nice ideas from u too ... ill contact with u as soon as prototype of the program be ready so we can work togther too and share ideas thanks buddy again
i agree with this new program.... as long as it is free & useful
so what about an android version? and what about when wp7 comes out? Would you plan to expand the app to those platforms as well? I think it is a great idea regardless, especially for phones that have lots of roms available to them. It won't make much since for people that only have 1 or 2 roms to choose from, but would be a nice and quick way to get updates.
eddy790 : yea for sure its gonna be free and much more easy way especially for new users to get updates for their devices
ebbinger_413 : and yes buddy ill do my best to expand the app but not in mean time .. now we building the base of the program and everything gonna contain and after the release just in time ill expand it to contain more stuff and more OS

[WIKI] for the Xperia Play

Hey Guys,
well wiki and sticky are up - so lets gather more information
If u got some ideas of missing topics - just add them or post it here...
thanks for helping Piratetris, XHale931
OLD:
got my Xperiay Play since Friday.
Since I searched and found a lot of information since that day, I wondered why we dont have a propper complilation... like the ones im used to have from other devices.
Since this thread is not maintained anymore and its hard to updated it all by one person alone I thought about using the wiki wich is totaly underrated here at XDA anyway.
So I added a picture and started creating the WIKI page for our beloved device - wich didn't exist yet
Since im quite new here and I propably don't know all the things and my time is very limited atm - any help is welcome - feel free to add your favourite content and correct all the mistakes and typing mistakes I did
e.g. add the hardware specs,...
Please keep the structure clean and don't go into detail too much so it doesn't get blown...
@Mod: would be nice if this got pinned since many people really don't know and use the wiki at xda atm
editing as we speak :]
Stuck it
Good idea, keep it growing
Best, DK
Great Job.
Fixed phone models and colors. Fixed a crap ton of spelling errors so it actually looks decent. Fixed false information.
Good job. Keep it going.
Excellent job on the wiki!
Would like to see maybe a table of ROM versions and which phones they are compatible with.
do u seach users, helping u with that?
If you need any help with Wiki clean ups, I have a fair knowledge of making them look good. I was and still am an admin for the EQ2Emulator wiki (;
Amazing!
Keep up the good work!
Thanks.
Nice. I've added and will add to it.
nice !! thanks
I'm going to contribute to the page a bit
Great job. Let's make it grow
EDIT: Sigh. Never mind.
All this talking I was doing about the kernel update, it was just because of a very simple thing I did not understand until today:
*** If your ROM update includes a new boot.img file, then UPDATE THE DAMN boot.img IN YOUR PHONE AGAIN, using flashtool or whatever tool you used before.
My apologies for being that slow.
xperia play is really good but some of glu mobile games is not compatible and the screen is LCD but its great
So if I unlock the bootloader, install a ROM and then I install the stock ROM and re-lock the bootloader Sony still will know that my xPLay was once unlocked?¿
Official Method
If you unlock your bootloader using the official SE method, even if you relock it, they will always know.
I heard if you unlock it with the S1 tool method you could relock it again without any problems.

Future Developer(Tips & Tricks)

Hi guys, I'm currently a senior Computer Science major about to graduate in the next year, and a half. I've been really interested in Android development, and wanted to inquire from the pro's and how they learnt to create, edit, and make such software. So far I haven't been exposed to many real world applications of programming, but any tips that could be provided would be very appreciated!

These are awesome links, I've been recently reading Programming Android by Mr. Zigurd Mednieks. So far it's pretty good, and it's builds upon my previous knowledge of Java(which I haven't used in a while).
