Used the method posted here to get my MSL. It worked great to open the ##DATA# menu to remove the sprint proxy. However, when I use it to unlock ##DEBUG# I get the invalid code errors. Sprint game me an alternative MSL which didn't work. I have terminal emulator and the sprint msl .zip.
Any thoughts?
Sprint's unlock code is

you dont need the lock code
You can access the debug menu without the lock code by using anycut from the market. Add a shortcut to IOTHiddenMenu(screenshot below). Gives you access to all that fun **** w/o the dialer codes or lock codes.

The 777468 is the code needed in the debug(##33286#) menu. The msl is the one for the data (##3282#) menu
ok i got it to work to use Get My MSL you have to update you busybox, but default just a regular root seems to install busynbox 1.20.1 you have to upgrade to 1.20.2 and the get my msl will work. just tried it and got my msl coded you can download the latest busy box from the market.

works like a charm had to speed of my 3g since no LTE coming to colorado for who knows when. if you try it allthe portsettings are under multimedia
then you can put in the following
1. Get your MSL, by calling Sprint or by using CDMA workshop like i explain below
2. After you have your MSL go to your phone and type ##3282#
3. Click Edit Mode
4. Click Advanced

You are better than sprint!
Sprint kept telling me that the unlock code was the same as the MSL. Thanks everyone! I still can't get my data much above 20k (often lower than that). last night until this morning it was over 1MBs, but no more. The data is HORRIFIC. I wish I knew how slow slow really was (slower than dialup!).
No, the unlock code is the code for the ##DEBUG# menu. The MSL is the master subscriber lock that is used under the ##DATA#. Take a look at this thread to see how to get the MSL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745888&page=3.
By chance did you take the OTA update since you were getting 1.0Mbps? Look at your baseband and see if your last 3 say LG2. If they do it might be the OTA that killed your speeds. Search about it and you will find the way to revert if you are having issues.

Thanks for the input. I did update the baseband, but the speeds were slow. Sprint officially said that the network is seeing "a lot of traffic" in my area. The good news is that in 2 weeks they'll do a data upgrate to the local tower (I've heard that before). And in 7 months we get a T1 line! (Only will help marginally, if at all).
I think I'm going to start working to get out without paying ETF. I'm trying to find the contract's arbitration provision to go that route if needed.
If anyone else is in doubt, DON'T GET THE SPRINT GALAXY S3, THE DATA IS SLOWER THAN DIALUP!!!! (I get 8-20k down 123k up most of the time, even on the weekends).
That is a matter of opinion though. I live in the Atlanta area and my S3 is giving me 30 down on LTE and on 3g I get 1.5 down.

Dang, that's cool, unfortunately there is no 'activity' for that menu on the Galaxy Nexus (Sprint). Can't find one for Debug, or 1x Engineering.

In order to make changes such as these (There may be more or better ones listed for the Epic 4g but these ones are for the EVO 4g) follow these guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733773
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726877
First you will need your MSL. You can either go through the hassle of contacting Sprint and trying to get them to give it to you, or download a terminal emulator program from the market at follow these instructions:
Once in your preferred terminal program (connecbot, terminal emulator, etc.) type the following EXACTLY:
getprop ril.MSL
It should display your MSL.
From there you can do the 4G and 3G tweaks.
Turn 4g on, go to the dialer, enter ##3282# click view then click Wimax. Enter your MSL, scroll down and choose extensions from there. This is where you will change certain settings mentioned in the threads above. To change the following edits to suggestions below, just long press the option you want to edit and click write extension.
1. Scroll down the list and click on "WiMAX_Scan_Retry(s)"
2. Enter the number 15 and click "OK" (This equals 15 seconds instead of 120 seconds, stock is )
3. Scroll down the list and click on "WiMAX_Entry_Delay(s)"
4. Enter the number 0 and click "OK" (This equals 0 seconds instead of the stock of 300 seconds)
5. WiMAX_Entry_RX(RSSI)(dBm) - Default is -89. This is the minimum signal it has to be picking up to connect. I'm not sure what the best value here is, but the lower the number, the quicker the connect, since it will connect to a weaker signal. You'll have to experiment some with this, I recommend trying about -95 to -100 first. If it's unstable, raise the value closer to -89.
6. WiMAX_Exit_CINR(dB) - Default is 2. See the entry CINR value for an explanation of it. If the signal degrades to a CINR of 2, it will drop the connection. Change this to 1. This should let you stay connected longer. If you run into problems with staying connected but having an unreliable connection, change it back to 2.
7. WiMAX_Exit_Delay(s) - The default is 2. Since it's measured in seconds, that means if the CINR drops to 2 or below for 2 seconds, it will drop the connection. Raise it to 5. That should be enough to cover just a random drop in signal that will pick back up right away. That way you don't drop connection if you drive under a bridge or something (I'm rocking mine at 15s here, but it'll take any value up to 600 seconds, which is 10 minutes!)
8. EntryCINR, change from 0006 to 0004.
Thanks to Geniusdog254 and swatspyder for finding these tweaks!

Not 100% sure, but one tweak I did use on the Evo 4g that I just tweaked on this device is the:
RTSP Proxy Address changed to 0.0.0.0
RTSP Proxy Port to 0
HTTPPD Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0
HTTPPD Proxy Port to 0
Stock is:
RTSP Proxy Address: rtsp.vog.sprintpcs.com

HTTPPD Proxy Address: pd.vog.sprintpcs.com
HTTPPD Proxy Port: 8085

It is suppose to help streaming and 3g. Try it, if it doesn't work go back to the stock settings above.
Im really curious if this works for 3g. No 4g in indianapolis and 3g speeds are usually 100kb.

I called *2 and first thing I asked was for this and she gladly gave it to me, as always it is hit and miss. If they don't do it, hang up try again. There are other ways but I think they all pretty much require root, I could be wrong though.
to the OP.. i dont have the phone yet but im wondering about the wimax settings myself.
first thing to try.. ##DATA# but instead of going to edit.. go to view. see if theres a wimax setting in there. it does NOT show up when u pick "edit". if there IS a wimax option under ##DATA# > view.. then it will most likely require your MSL.
another place to try is ##DEBUG# which will require MSL as well. there might be wimax settings somewhere in there.
one last thing i'd like you to try is to install AnyCut from the android market(free). open it and choose to add shortcut or whatever(forget the exact option) and it will give you a list of all the system apks/menus on your phone.. scroll down and see if there are any wimax options. if there are.. could you please list them? could you also make shortcuts for each wimax option you do see and run them to see if you find anything interesting.
please report back with details. you're my eyes on this for now

Alright, with you last paragraph I think I may have found it. Here is what was listed and here is how to do it (you have to have 4g on in order to make changes however):
WiMax CT
WiMax DM
WiMax Mode Change
WiMax_CFG
WiMax_CFG
WiMax_NETEST
WiMax_RC
WiMaxLineTest
In order to make changes such as these (There may be more or better ones listed for the Epic 4g but these ones are for the EVO 4g) follow these guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733773
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726877
Download Any Cut from the market, open it and choose New Shortcut, then choose Activity. Scroll down to WiMax_CFG (the first one, there after two listed) and it will create a shortcut on your home screen. Open that and select Extensions and make the changes from the threads above in that menu (just long press what you want to change and click save, it will automatically change it). You might have to reboot your phone in order for them to actually take but I'm still not sure if this all works.
It also looks as though you may be able to adjust frequencies. I'm tempted to test them. In wimax_cfg the first one under MRU you'll see 4 sts of frequencies and you can edit then it seems.

I've reprogrammed about 12 total devices and they were all experiencing the same issue, including mine. What's funny about it is that even searching for the videos works while on 4g, just streaming it doesn't work. All other streaming apps work fine.
I've done data restores on all those devies and also factory resets, still not working. Every device has same prl same YouTube same firmware
I'm not sure, but I tried checking logs to see what was wrong...i don't exactly remember what the code was...the same problem happened when trying to watch YouTube through the browser as well...I'm just glad I found a temporary fix...

Youtube seems to be working fine on 4g connection for me. Completely stock. Unless it somehow switches to 3g when it starts streaming. I highly doubt it, considering I usually turn 4g on before watching videos because 3g is just too slow.

Awesome, thanks for the list.
Quick question for you. Any idea where dialer codes for High Temperature Property can be changed? I want to see if it will resolve microstutter I am experiencing.
1. Enter the following based on your device model:
3845#*800# (for At&T model)
3845#*801# (for T-Mobile variants)
3845#*802# (for European variants)
3845#*803# (for AT&T and Canadian variants)
???? (Sprint)
Sorry at the moment no. In producer menu there is a battery thermal selection but i cant access it

Sadly the easiest way is to ask sprint for it

I called Sprint and asked for my MSL number and she gave it to me, no questions asked. Also you can just ask them for the instructions to program your phone, and the six digit dialer code they give you is your MSL.

You should be able to call Sprint to get your MSL without issues.
However those that prefer not to call Sprint can try this method in the link that worked for me. What is great about this method to get your MSL is that it appears to work on the major OEMs of phones like HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola, etc. If this works for you on the LG G2, maybe you can try to see if it works on the GS4 or HTC One or Moto X if you have one.
Disclaimer: I actually got my MSL from Sprint when I called Sprint to activate my phone so I was able to verify after the fact that this method works below. I was only able to verify it on Windows 7. I don't expect it to have issues on Windows 8 but you never know.

I tried the Chat method, here is what they told me:
I would like to share that we can only give the MSL number of the phone if the contract is expired, but since the contract is going on for your line so that is the reason we are unable to provide the MSL code from here,. we do not want that you face any sort of issue, I want to help you as much as possible from here. for that I recommend you to please contact our dedicated technical team at 8882114727 and there will be no issue,

I used the method on the linked thread to obtain my MSL. After obtaining my MSL, I went to the ##DATA# menu and turned on the two disabled LTE bands. A pop-up asked for my MSL, so I entered the number I obtained and the phone rebooted with the additional bands enabled!

Right now the LG G2 by default has the B26 (800 MHz) and B41 (2500 MHz) LTE bands disabled. With your MSL code, you can manually enable these B26 and B41 LTE bands to do some LTE testing.
See these speedtest screenshots of my B41 LTE testing I did last night.

What are you setting the Priority at?
I don't have much time so Ill revisit this later and give it more details
What this update zip does
add apns
allow edit of default apn
allow edit of tether apn
add 3G
add ipv4 option (and actually work)
proper icons (E, 3G, H and 4G)
all network modes visible (probably not needed but added anyway)
TETHER BROKE FOR NOW
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A NANDROID BEFORE YOU FLASH (works for me might not for you)
THIS REPLACES THE BUILD.PROP SO ANY PREVIOUS BUILD PROP MODIFICATIONS WILL BE LOST USE WITH CAUTION
If you want to use this with your modified build prop check back in a few days or take a look at the build prop inside the zip.
Reboot into twrp
Install apn_mod.zip
Wipe cache/dalvik (do not skip this)
Reboot system
Tell me if you get stuck in 3g I think I fixed that bug but not 100% sure (temp fix: open network mode and select GSM/WCDMA/LTE)

Honestly if you need to ask you probably wont benefit from it. But you can change the default tether apn to fast instead of pcweb + 3g + mega apn pack. I need ipv4 for my vpn to work properly and not leak my ip but there are lots of reasons to use ipv4 instead of ipv6.
This is awesome. could you possibly add lte/wcdma to the network modes? I can get the option in the hidden menu through the dialer, would love an option for it in the network mode menu.

When Roaming IPV6 doesn't work that well. I had to create another APN so I could connect to the roaming network. Even that was a little finicky. This will come in handy when going to Wyoming to visit the Family.

Probably not unless you are only seeing 2g and 4g lte if that is so you will see e/3g/lte after flashing this. but you can just go in the build prop and edit that in. I will try to update the op tonight with details but probably wont get to it until tomorrow. I guess if you already see e/3g/4g you will get a lot of apns from around the world with this package.
*Edit*
can you get ipv4 apn to work properly with this phone on att? I dont mean ipv4/ipv6 but the real ipv4? if not that would be another benefit for you if you care for ipv4.
It shows ipv4 in the APN, but I never see 3g, just LTE, 4g, and a couple times 2g.

yeah then you would only be getting apns from this. If you are interested in that I'm going to make a apn only package tomorrow for the zone people.
*Edit*
sorry didn't see you don't get 3G if this phone supports that band (I think it does) you should get 3g from this.
*edit
but that's just a simple build prob edit Ill have that in the op tomorrow
So this actually changes the tethering APN for the stock tethering app?
Does it also replace framework-res then?

This should help out with VPN and torrents. Checking it out now!
Does this removes the 5GB cap of tether use on T-Mobile ?
Thanks
VPN works now, that's awesome. Still not able to download torrents though, oh well. Nice work!
Hay boss do you have to make the changes to the build.prop for this to work? Reason is it cause poor signal and 4G to drop in and out. At least it does on my device. Had the same problem with those edits on the G2.

If you can get your tethering to work with the fast.t-mobile.com APN, data will not be counted as tethered data.

No 3G bug since I flashed this last night.
Last night I noticed my tether is broken, but I didn't know why. My computer will not connect to the hotspot and will complain that the signal is low.
I did some debugging and found this:
I/hostapd ( 3179): wlan0: AP-STA-MAX-REACHED
The phone is not allowing the client to connect because it thinks the max has been reached. It's not a build.prop thing, I couldn't find it there.
Doing some more digging, I found that the hostapd.conf file that is generated when the hotspot is on (/data/misc/wifi/hostapd.conf) has max_num_sta=0 even though I have set it to 8 on the Settings Menu. I have changed the settings to something else and this always comes up as 0.
I also see some errors about some config files not being setup properly:
Code:
E/hostapd (31402): Configuration file: /data/misc/wifi/hostapd.conf
E/hostapd (31402): Invalid MAC address '/data/misc/wifi/hostapd.accept' at line 1 in '/data/misc/wifi/hostapd.accept'
E/hostapd (31402): Line 15: Failed to hostapd_config_read_maclist '/data/misc/wifi/hostapd.accept' at config_file.c
Not sure where this config_file.c is, probably in the code of the hostapd binary.
I don't think I had seen hostapd being used in the stock tethering, but I wasn't really looking for it when debugging previously.

The stock firmware has a hidden tethering APN, which is pcweb.tmobile.com. Using this zip allows you to change the tethering APN. If that one is configured as fast, then you should be good to go. Is your tethering working with this patch? Mine isn't
