Activating Phone on a Rom - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I dont have a nandroid of stock and the stock nandroids in the forums wont work for me. The reason I need to do is because my dad is getting this phone with my upgrade, so they first need to activate it on my line and then i need to activate it on his phone and then finally return my phone which has this flashed.
I am running CM10 can I activate my phone with this rom or this a rom I can do it in? I don't want to odin because i want to avoid loosing data.

You can activate with the ROM installed. Do it online so you don't have to go to the store. All you will need is the phones unique ID.
That can be found on a sticker under the phones battery or through the phones about menu item in settings
Unique id = meid

How to get Touch Pro 2 back to factory ROM?

Hi, recently flashed my Touch Pro 2, about to sell it and need to have it flashed back to the factory ROM. Does anyone know where I can find the ROM file and then the steps of doing this? Im trying to sell it and want to put it back to stock. Any help is appreciated, and yes I tried a search, sorry if I did miss something.
Thanks
Mike

how about HSPL? do i put the stock on back? and how
Dude there are entire threads dedicated to how to HardSPL and put it back to stock. Additionally, there is an official download from HTC's website that is the factory installed AT&T ROM. Read the very first page of the HardSPL thread. It has links to what you need to return to stock.
Alternatively, why not just sell the phone with a better ROM on it to begin with?
The phone is T-Mobile not AT&T and also some people dont want to buy a phone that has been messed with and can tell the difference in the stock ROM and a custom one.

If you are selling ebay all you need to do is be sure and clearly indicate how the phone is set up. Also, you could advertise on the selling page that you can either leave the phone as is, or flash back to stock ROM - the buyer chooses. That way you may not have to flash back to stock.

[Q] Do I need to unroot

So I'm getting my number change.
Do I need to unroot for sprint to do it or can I stay rooted.
Thanks in advance
I'm guessing that you are on Sprint. I think that you can just call them and get your number changed, in that case I don't see why that you would have to, but if you need to take it in to get them to do something then that might be a different story. I think that they are required to take a note on your file if you are rooted or not now, but I'm not sure. I do have to say though that it is not hard to root again after you unroot your evo now. I have had to do this with a RUU in the past because of getting bricked for a few hours. My advice if you go in back up using titanium backup and unroot for the duration of the trip. That might save your ass in the long run. lol )

Then I don't see where you would have a problem with just calling them without unrooting. Granted if you still have doubts unroot anyways. I don't want to be the person who says yes you can leave rooted and then they tell you that your insurance is not valid any longer... lol. leave rooted at your own risk, but I don't think that it would be a problem. Hit thanks if this helped.
You need a stock Evo-based Sense rom if activation requires you to access menus through the dialer. Just to be safe, I'd do a nandroid backup and flash the stock rooted rom. When you're finished, just nandroid restore and you'll be good to go.

Number swaps don't require dialer codes. Only a profile update but yes you need to be on a sense ROM to do this.

Yeah, you should be okay leaving rooted especially if you're doing it over the phone. I've had to bring my phone into sprint before for speaker problem, stopped there on my way to Walmart a few days ago, didn't even think about it being rooted until they already had it in back fixing it, but they brought it back up all fixed up, and I still have my insurance, and the store manager asked me what I did to get my phone looking so cool lol... I took a risk and told him it was rooted, so I know they deffinitly now know...and he asked me to root his lol.

ATT Exchange rooted phone help

My phone is having service issues, loses signal and only airplane mode on and off restores. ATT is sending me new phone, but i rooted with Odin one step and i suspect they will reject when I mail the old phone in. The restore info I searched for seems to be way more involved and therefore I am looking for some help, what I really need to do.
Further, if I cannot unroot and return the phone with status modified listed and a 2 count, will AT&T reject?
Thanks

I've given att rooted phones and some with a stock ROM on it, just flashed the stock recovery. I've never had an issue just doing that.
I've sent 3 phones back to sammy/att and all 3 were rooted... Only I flashed a stock rom.

I will run this and restore to stock and see what happens. Hopefully no issues. AT already sent replacement, will arrive monday.

[Q] Unlock Rom Options

Please bear with me on this one...
I'm on vacation atm in Mexico. I called Tmo before I left, and asked them whether I could use my phone while roaming as they boast about with their free data and texting international advertisements... The nice but confused lady told me that it would work fine, and then proceeded to tell me I should unlock my phone and use wifi calling to make things free/cheaper. She told me that data and texting would work and would be free. I also agreed to have her send me an email with instructions how to unlock the phones we had... Then I go on vacation.
It's important to note that Before I left, I also installed CM and CWM so i'd have something to tinker with while on vacation. This seemed to be my only mistake. While on vacation I notice I can't make any connectivity to the cell sites and/or use data nor text nor make calls at the $.20 rate. So I again contact Tmo via their live support and learn this:
I'm on a grandfathered 'contract' plan and I can't actually benefit from free data nor texts... and that data will cost me 15$ a Mb and texts are $.50 each as well as voice being around $1.80 a min. This being the most rediculous thing I've ever heard tell them to not enable international abilitys and proceed to get a TelCel sim card to use a cheaper and considerably cheaper service that will have a local phone number.
Having the email with the Tmo unlock codes I put the sim in and try to unlock. I can't unlock my S3 and contact Tmo again to learn that if I fail enough attempts that the phone will lock itself and be unable to unlock, without knowing this I tried it several times in the TelCel office and afterwards a few times with support before they told me... because CM doesn't have the Tmo applications to talk to the service provider to actually unlock the phone... I learn from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023709&highlight=recording That you must be on a stock rom, or a rom derived from the stock updates in order to unlock your phone...
I don't want to go back to stock because that will erase CWM and my CM rom and since i'm on vacation without my computer I want to just flash a stock derived rom; I noticed that people on that thread had luck unlocking their phone with the Frosty rom(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874063) however after looking for it the link to the most recent download is broken and I'm not sure what other rom to use... Since i'm using an ASOP rom right now I can't unlock nor use my new mexican sim, and I would like any stock derived rom that would suffice without removing my CWM so I can revert back to the backup CM I want to create... What options do i have? The smaller the better...
Thanks, I'm tired and desperate...
I'm assuming you have the T999 model right?
Just about any stock based Rom will do, as long as it has the stock dialer. The key to this is the modem. You cannot be on baseband MD5 or MJ4. It MUST be an earlier one. LJC would work fine.
So check your baseband and if it's one of those two, flash the modem. Otherwise try grabbing S3rx Rom.
Do a nandroid back up.
Flash Rom.
Unlock.
Restore nandroid.

Few Points you should know.
1. In order to successfully unlock, your phone has be registered to T-Mo Tower with T-Mo Sim card. Otherwise the Unlock code will not work. I have repeatedly tested this theory on variety of devices and with several T-Mo Tech Help. It has been confirmed.
2. Once the Phone gets LOCKED after repeated attempts, you need a Personal ID Number that's unique to your phone. Its assigned by the carrier upon activation. It is also commonly referred to as PUK Code. If at this time your phone is actually locked and no longer accepting that Unlock code, its time to get your PUK Code from T-Mo. If you mess with that code or enter incorrect PUK Code then the phone will be hard locked to T-Mo with absolutely no chance of unlock.
3. To your present Dilemma, I'd take a nandroid, use Root66 Rom from Doc's Signature, then try to unlock. ( If it works great if not then I wouldn't attempt too many times. ) Once unlocked, restore your Nandroid.
Just to make sure, being safe...
Thank you both for the help, There is lots of good information here, however I've a few more questions...

I'm using a T999 aye, and I'm on baseband LJA so based on what you said it should work fine... I'm also downloading the S3rx rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326763 Which the new version says: S3Rx T-Mobile T999 UVDMD5 TW 4.1.2 Premium Suite, which I'm assuming is based off of MD5 which you said I should stay away from... - does this not matter because I'm not flashing the modem? Will this still work fine?
I also tried going with what Perseus71 said, going with the Root66 rom that Doc had in his sig, however it was in .tar.md5 format for Odin which I can't really use right now being on a shared computer. I would need it in .zip format to use in CWM nandroid which I am unable to find one. I made a nandroid backup of my current OS build and it should be fine, and I am going to try the S3rx .zip once it downloads on this super slow internet I have access to. I'm not sure about mobile odin however I read and fear that if i try it, it will erase my SDcard with my backups on it, and overwrite my CWM being unable to return to the nandroid backup I made.
Will that S3rx work to unlock from the provided .zip? or MUST I use Odin or mobile Odin?
Thank you two, I really appreciate your help...
Md5 is fine if it's just the Rom. Flash the md5 modem and you can't unlock.
I love Mobile Odin personally! Just read up.on chainfires thread for it and you'll be fine. But just flashing the Rom will work too.

It worked like a charm!
I used that S3rx rom, put the unlock code provided by Tmo and presto! Worked great, thanks for the help!
One happy camper now~ or Vacationer... ;p
Thanks DocHoliday77 you're the man, and thanks for the other unlock info Perseus71!
I appreciate the help!
Anytime! Glad I could help! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Need help with unrooting phone

Hello guys I need some help with completely unrooting my phone, so my phone is like factor new, I would like to update my phone to 4.4.2 (right now its on 4.1.2)but when I try it says suspected rooted, I tied many different ways to unroot my phone by looking though the post but most of them are confusing to me and most of them just ended up not working for me at all. So if any one knows a "dumb" way to restore my phone to factor settings. I will be happy.

You can unroot with app such as super su pro. I've never tried it, so I'm not sure how effective it is. Another sure way to unroot is flash the phone with stock firmware, that will sure return the phone to a state as you first purchase it.
Just flash back to stock with odin, it'll be factory new. Keep in mind this will wipe your entire internal storage...so backup your internal SDcard if you need to.
This is what I use when I mess up my device lol

Use this .tot (it takes ages to download, so find something to do haha) with above and it will put you on 4.4.2
This may work too
