anyone else try tommys pre-final and have a problem with the volume during a song? when i press the volume + key it goes down and then up on the second press. any ideas?
did you theme the rom? cuz ive read in a different rom (cannot recall) that a certain theme actually cause random sound issues.
also maybe try reapplying your kernel, and see if that makes a difference
Thank you for your time,
And no I haven't done any theming. Though I did add the beats sound. But I have done that before on Tommy's previous release and had no problems.

Was sound working properly before you added beats sounds? Remember Tommy have changed a lot in version 0.9. Maybe you should reflash the rom? Or restore nandroid if you made one.
Sent from my lair.
Well that's what I was thinking as well.but I wasn't sure if it was working before adding beats because I flashed a new kernel and beats at the time I flashed the rom. So I reflashed without changing the kernel or added beats and still having the same results. I'm not sure if it could be a Bug but in Tommy's OP(I believe) he said that selecting the volume to wake and the volume media rocker could clash. But I have neither selected. If it is a bug since 0.0.9 is kinda a tester for 0.1.0 I'm hoping it gets resolved and if anyone can do it I sure Tommy can.

Finally, I have found someone with the same problem.
It's not the ROM. I was on Shooter (evo3d port) and i still have it on DigitalKarma's v8 Reincarnated.
I've wiped and reloaded a half dozen times, three different kernels (classic 1.1, anthrax, then classic 1.5), and two ROMs. Even tried reflashing the 30 step increment mod, and it's still there. Someone please help us.

Notice: Flashables are divided into Post #1 and Post #2. Post #1 will contain all the information, misc & flashables for 4.1.2 and Post #2 will contain the flashables for 4.2.1/4.2.2, take note all the latest will be the most recent upload. All 4.2.2 builds start from V3B4
What This Mod Does:
Nexus devices have pitifully low volume. Previous fixes like the Volume+ app and Franco's app only increased the volume on music playback, or in the headphones, but did nothing for in-call volume or notifications.
This mod changes all that. It will increase ALL volume, across the entire phone: ringtone, music, notifications, loudspeaker sound, ear speaker sound, in-call volume, and headset.
Requirements:
-Rooted.
-Custom recovery like CWM or TWRP.
-Jellybean Deodexed OR Odexed.
-Custom kernel with high quality audio tweak enabled is recommended (e.g. Franco or Trinity or AK).
-Nandroid Backup, I implore people to have at least one recent one as this method is faster.
Compatible With :
-Galaxy Nexus, Kindle Fire (reported), also Nexus 7.
-Universal for all kernels and ROMs.
-All major players, including: Google Music, Noozy, PowerAMP (see note below), Apollo, PlayerPRO.
Note on PowerAMP - To allow PowerAMP to be controlled by external DSP/EQ you must disable Direct Volume Control under Audio Tweaks in Settings.
Installation:
*Revert previously installed patch as necessary.
1. Copy zip to Internal Storage
2. Boot to custom recovery
3. Install zip from sdcard
4. Reboot
5. Choose EIZO ReWire PRO under Settings > Sound > Music Effects
Note: If you do not have the "Music Effects" submenu then EIZO should be enabled by default since it's the only DSP present.
FAQ:
What you should do:
Configure EIZO, Select it in Music Effects.
Refer to the Op for EIZO settings.
Practice tuning your own values. EVERY user has their own listening experience. What sounds good to one and not the other doesn't become the fault of the MOD.
Keep backups of your Alsa Mixer if you use call recording BEFORE flashing this MOD
Keep backups (The revert is safe) but I am not responsible for loops if you flash this on another device.
Flash the MOD after every ROM flash. Not necessarily kernel flash.
Search if your ROM has been mentioned. KEYWORDS are a must. Example is 'PA works' and the results will be displayed. If not feel free to ask and I shall assist you.
What you shouldn't do:
Test the loudness via Settings. There is an implemented system limiter so you can't tell the difference. Call yourself or sms yourself so you can know the difference.
Complain of distortion without testing your own values. I've set a recommend layout in the OP hoping it's to give you an idea.
Error 7, Error 7 is a halt procedure. Please debug the error and see what's written before saying Error 7 only.
Alternate flashing. (I know some of you prefer to flash the Gnexus mod on the N7 but doing so breaks the media codes, if you have the patience to swap the media codes in etc folder of the N7 then it's fine)
Don't use Noozy lockscreen controls, they're unreliable till a new app is remade.
Don't use compression in EIZO. Causes massive volume fluctuations as it was set to be an AVLS.

Reason for major swap from DSP+Apollo - Noozy
As much as I like giving the option to people on DSP and how they chose to listen to their choice of music, I did a poll over the N7 side, and collected all the data here, and about 70% don't use DSP but only 30% do. So inorder to satisfy both sides, I decided to integrate proper XLouder+Beats that work perfectly without issues, this would highly benefit the audiophiles and those who complain about bass and it's distortion. On another note I have tried my best to retain the loudness infact this build has a whooping 5% loudness, 7% with HTC enabled. And all this is safe.
Word to the wise when using Noozy do not max Psychoacoustic II, as the bass works best on 20-40% [And I repeat for this to work, Please invest on Class A/B/C Bass headphones, Also, Beats..Is class C :|, Most of you might think Beats was Class B or A but it's not. I've tested out this so called 5.1 Surround Sound and Razer Electa $60 headphones can output that and Beats can't] Just my 2 cents. Don't shoot the messenger LOL.
Noozy was the ULTIMATE choice as this cleared the headache of choosing which side do I lean on and which side would I end up screwing over. Bass+Loudness vs those who like baubly neat interfaces, and earlier today a friend of mine linked me Noozy and I tested it out and I was shocked as to how it abused EVERYTHING properly, This player was recommended to most HTC Beats Users but after enabling it on our build.prop it works just the same, Amazing, Crisp, Clean, Flawless! and the album artwork is GORGEOUS! Please do not forget to enable the options in Settings shown below to get the best feel of it. Also Lockscreen Controls are glitchy, but I'm sure the developer would work on a way to fix this.

Caution: Clear cache/data for all DSP's if you had saved values previously as 4.3 and 4.2.2 settings delete them as they are like 2 saucy women in a bar getting ready for a ghetto booty showdown.
Word to the wise, In order for the DSP's to kick in, 4.3 has made some security changes where it won't just run in the background, For EIZO & Beats to kick in, you need to launch the app manually after selecting it from Music->Effects, proceed to GMusic or App of choice, followed by going to the EQ settings from the music app, and change the settings. When changing DSP's from one to another, completely close out the app from the Multi-tasking menu, and notification bar (Best if you FC it from App Info) then change DSP in Music->Effects Settings and finally relaunch the app, making your changes in the EQ.

Highly agree, that would benefit me especially as I could add it to list of combinations that work. Besides I've set to a manner that it works on Stock/CROM's and should work on AOSP based roms.
Flashed this on my N7! Sounds way better and a lot louder than Stock on my beats headset as well as the external speaker!
Just installed this on my N7 with stock ROM and Motley kernel. Booted up. Showed "Android upgrading" all 89 steps which took about 90 seconds .
Amazing increase in volume!
Thanks,
Is there a particular DSP manager/app that you reccommend?
NEVER mind. I see that the MOD installed the DSP manager app. Very cool.

That question got me confused a bit
If you're asking about DSP, there's a DSP Manager included, I have included a script to remove any older versions and include the one that works best with all Beats presets. It should be in your App drawer DSP with a B logo.
If it's about what apps work well with DSP?
Not in particular as it works with both GMusic/Apollo, I've always liked Apollo anyways, Lightweight and works best with DSP.
now the sound dont work
try to install the rom stock
Happens the first time. Then it will restart and work again. It takes a while for the system to re catch and re scan the file system and load the modules.

Edit: On another note, Uploaded a new revision called NexusLouderAOSPTest.zip in the OP, kindly do try that and let me know, That should work for AOSP based ROM's. If it works and it's louder (Sorry I included Apollo to make sure it works) then let me know, then I will put out a Beta2 by tomorrow. The contents of the AOSPTest are what's supposed to be the main core of the audio patch. If that works, then ofcourse, I will work on stage 2.

NexusLouderV1 didn't seem to do anything on CM10 Nightly 09/15, there is no option in the DSP manager for "beats boost". I enabled Bass Boost and set it to extreme and then enabled the Equalizer and set it to Acoustic and there was no difference in sound from Google Play Music. AOSP Test didn't do anything either and it removed DSP Manager so I couldn't do anything, am I missing something here?
edit: I just went back to stock and rooted, then flashed the first zip and everything gets copied over but DSP Manager doesn't get installed. It says that the APK is invalid. I checked the MD5 sum and it's the same as on my computer. I even re-downloaded it and the sums are the same.
Hey all,
why in any custom rom the maximum ringtones, notifications, songs, and anything that uses the phone speaker is very low you can barely hear the ringtone, the morning alarm - sometimes i miss it -, however in stock roms the sound is amazing and sometimes noisy? why guys? and any fix or a possible solution to fix this?
am running CM10 nightly BTW

I don't know if this phone is like my previous LG Optimus 2X but it also was like that, on Stock ROMS the speaker was way louder than on CyanogenMod based ROMS, try using a stock based ROM or install Volume+ from the Play Store it helps with the speaker volume. (Be careful with Volume+ and don't put the value too high or else the sound may be distorted.)
i've already tried the volume+ with no luck, i think its related to the speakers drivers in sense stock rom, and am looking for an advanced help to be brought to CM10, hope anyone from the dev team to find a real fix for this.
probably due to a proprietary driver in the tegra that is closed source... android is an open source software for closed source handset...
This may be an odd request, but I'm looking for recommendations for 4.0 based ROMS that have strong vibration for notifications and incoming calls. I've been using Rushing's Intergalactic Infantry for a while now and love the stability and battery life, but I'm missing a lot of calls because the vibration intensity is too week even though I have the settings all the way up. I keep my phone in my pocket and can't feel it vibrating. I even took a completely stock phone and tested the vibration and then installing Intergalactic and the vibration intensity went drastically down. I've used a lot of different ROM's and recall vibration being weak on them, but this is the first one I tested against stock.
I need wifi-calling so can anyone recommend a 4.0 ROM with wifi-calling that doesn't suffer from weak vibration settings? Also, I'm not a fan of the highly themed ROM's like some of the Jedi stuff. A little theming is fine, but I don't want glowing red keys and icons.
Any suggestions?

I've used some of his other ROM's and they were always stable, I just never liked the look of the Jedi Knight stuff. I had downloaded that one a while back, but never installed it because of the look. I didn't notice the S3 theme so I'll give that a try.
Thanks again.

You're dandy welcome.
Also of extremely minor concern: I think it flashed with both the LG Alarm/Clock and the AOSP style Clock. Woo.
EDIT: Speaking of which, if I try to edit either of the two alarms that are set as default in Clock, it crashes.
I am able to create new alarms though. ... Hope they work...
EDIT: That problem magically disappeared. Maybe I'll come back with some useful observations soon. Thanks.

Seems spiffy so far.
Thanks for turning off the camera shutter sound in the build prop.
Maps 7. Coool.
One concern: during the initial boot, I waited about 5 minutes until I decided I'd reflash it. But, I didn't reflash it, because the moment I hit the power button, the home screen showed up.
Pertinently, I flashed Liberty 1.22 with the ROM.

I tried building this with Evolutionmods latest kernel, but ran into the extremely slow bootup so I went back to the stock kernel. I PMed him for help. With the stock kernel I timed the initial boot at about 2 min 10 sec.

I had old apps show up if I didn't wipe system before flashing.
I spent the last month tinkering with this to get it where it is at, I didn't want to post something terrible my first time out. Glad to see you guys trying and enjoying it.
Has anyone tried the viper4android effects? I thought I had it working the other night, but now I can't tell the difference with it on or off. I have been playing around with all the sound mods I can find and can't seem to get one with a noticeable difference. Either my LGOG came with great stock sound or I am doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Any of those kernels past 1.22 boots slow for me. 1.23 is where they get OC'd.
And insofar as the system app showing up when I didn't wipe system, that makes sense.

ihitcows - Let me know if you test out the sound mod. Also, are you experiencing any call problems? It might be because I use Google Voice, but my wife will call me and her phone will ring for 30 seconds and go to my GV VM and it won't even ring on my phone.

Sound mod confirmed working on speaker, headset and Bluetooth.
Though the effects are, generally, so slight on the speaker it's difficult to tell. But it does work.

Thanks, but is this sound mod better than AC!D or Beats? Like I said, I haven't noticed that much of a difference with any of them. I am still trying a couple of others, but I don't want to get rid of it if everyone likes it.

All righty. Since I was prompted to update the drivers for VIPER, and did, the headset hasn't worked. Haven't tried speaker and BT.
So, I'm gonna ditch it. But hey, it's sound. Hard to be more subjective than that!
All of the adjustments, for me, on both Beats and AC!D work, with one exception: the EQ on AC!D's Noozxoide. But I really dig its room-size adjustment.
And, dev, I appreciate the dark-themed Play Music, but I cant get it to show any content. Tried clearing data and rebooting and resyncing.

1. I think I messed up something with v4a and believe I can fix it. Fixed or new sound mod will be in the next update.
2. My player loads everything from my internal storage. It is not the same as Google play music, it is just a plain old school android music player with an updated theme. If you use Google play music you will need to download it.
I will be working on this more tomorrow and will hopefully have 1.1 tomorrow night maybe.

I'll give it a shot on the next build. Or whatever's out by the weekend. I got a stable setup I revert too but like trying new things....just need a driver for them business days.

Darndest thing just happened:
Seeing as how I still had the Alarm/Clock, etc., and notification bar and menu I had from LifeLess, I decided to reflash this ROM after wiping system. So,
I wipe data, dalvik/cache, and system, and boot into a several-minute long LG logo.
Better yet, my backup of this ROM nor of LifeLess would boot. Same thing.
... This may very well having to do with something outside the ROM that I've done. Just thought I'd mention.
EDIT: Formatted data, we're good.
Flashed it without Liberty kernel; initial boot was normal this time.
if you use evos kernel you can use faux sound to adjust sound settings and it works really well
