This may be an odd request, but I'm looking for recommendations for 4.0 based ROMS that have strong vibration for notifications and incoming calls. I've been using Rushing's Intergalactic Infantry for a while now and love the stability and battery life, but I'm missing a lot of calls because the vibration intensity is too week even though I have the settings all the way up. I keep my phone in my pocket and can't feel it vibrating. I even took a completely stock phone and tested the vibration and then installing Intergalactic and the vibration intensity went drastically down. I've used a lot of different ROM's and recall vibration being weak on them, but this is the first one I tested against stock.
I need wifi-calling so can anyone recommend a 4.0 ROM with wifi-calling that doesn't suffer from weak vibration settings? Also, I'm not a fan of the highly themed ROM's like some of the Jedi stuff. A little theming is fine, but I don't want glowing red keys and icons.
Any suggestions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861009 try this rom out it was my preferred rom of choice when i was on ICS and the vibration is strong and you can flash a S3 looking like theme to make it keep the stocky look you want with out all the theme stuff you dont want PTMR ROMs are [email protected]$$ you wont be disappointed

I've used some of his other ROM's and they were always stable, I just never liked the look of the Jedi Knight stuff. I had downloaded that one a while back, but never installed it because of the look. I didn't notice the S3 theme so I'll give that a try.
Thanks again.

Been having a great time playing around with my evo, have it fully rooted and flashed with the latest cm which has been really great on battery life and experimenting but I think im trying to run before I can walk. My first question is what exactly is it that sense brings to my phone?
Is it just a bunch of bloated screen effects to make the phone look pretty?....I really enjoy cm 6 but I do miss some things from stock like the call window, gallery, contact list, and browser (the stock browsers auto adjusting seemed a lot better)....but I don't miss the horrible battery life.
Is it sense that brought me those things I liked, or can I get them in cm with enough customization?
Tbh I've been looking at the new fusion mod since I'm in a 4g area and it would be nice to put my phone to full use. I was just curious about the sense vs. senseless.

Is it possible to increase the vibration levels throughout the whole Sense 4 ROM such that it behaves on CM9?
Preferably these are the areas that I would like the vibration to be stronger.
3 navigation keys,
Sense keyboard,
Dialer,
Notifications
Awaiting a favourable reply Thanks!!
reason if i am not mistaken is due to the kernel providing that haptic feedback extra vibration. when i had cm9 on my s2 the vibration was very strong...going back to stock though and using a different kernel it was very low...so if a kernel dev adds that to the kernel then maybe yes you can have that.
have you tried in settings adjusting them

i don't really understand much about the kernel, but isn't it true that our cm9 ROMs have use the same kernel as the Sense 4 ROMs? I don't know truly though>< (in the case of faux, franco, etc)
While I would like to, from my digging within the ROM, I can't find any setting that can adjust the intensity of the vibration. I have tried other keyboards and they can alter the intensity of vibration, but that's only limited to the keyboard. (I used Ice cream sandwich keyboard from the Market)
I'll make a request if it really is part of the kernel, thanks for your help

[Q] How to remove "power-off transition" after flashing Blu Kuban 1.0.5.1 ROM
After I flashed the Blu Kuban 1.0.5.1 ROM onto my Samsung E4GT, it added this bizarre and annoying screen transition which triggers every time you "sleep" or "power-off" the phone. After much disappointment with Blu Kuban, I changed to Calkulin's E4GT 2 v1.6 (ICS) ROM. Interestingly, the obnoxious "television-off" screen transition effect seems to have stayed, and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. I just want my phone to simply black-out, not perform some kind of circus act. Any idea how to get rid of this?
EDIT:
Ok, this new sleep transition effect seems to come pre-packaged with ICS. I reverted back to Gingerbread with Calkulin's E4GT v3.0 ROM, and guess what--no goofy effect when sleeping and powering-off! Yay? Well here's a new problem: I want to be running on ICS not Gingerbread. Is there some way I can run on ICS and lose the transition effect, or am I stuck with Gingerbread?
It's called crt off animation, its removable use the search feature. Its that button that looks like a magnifying glass  you could just deal with the transition, its a 2 second animation and if your switching your screen off why are u staring at it hard enough for a brief animation to annoy u so bad you wouldn't use ics because of it

-EViL-KoNCEPTz-, Thank you for your reply. I actually spent a good hour or more searching for an answer to my question; however, I would not know this transition was called a "crt off animation". I suppose that comes with experience. Hopefully other folks falling into my category will find this thread useful. I will spend some more time researching how to disable this. How could this little feature bother me enough to stop using ICS? Well, everyone has their peeves, this one being mine (it hurts my eyes and feels laggy). Again, thanks for the guidance.

It doesn't bother me cuz when I shut my screen off I don't watch it turn off, lol. That's why I was wondering how it could bother u. I think in themes and apps section there's a mod to disable it it's been available for a while and was incorporated in some GB roms. There's both crt-on and crt-off, its designed to mimic a tube TV/crt monitor turning on and off wwhich is how it got its name, some may call it tv-on/off but it's technical name from the developer is crt-on/off so there's alot more info when u search crt vs TV

Smokey -- don't remember the details as it has been quite a while since I was on Calk's ROM, but I seem to remember there being a set of flashable mods from Calk a post or two after the OP, including one to disable the CRT off animation.
On the kuban, it's in the ROM updater (accessed via the system menu) under "general mods". (Side note: Ravaged Pheonix has put together a great Blu Kuban FAQ: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809881) IMHO I'd say give the kuban another chance -- it took me a couple of days to get used to it and get it all tricked out the way I wanted, but it's really a kick-ass ROM. Don't get me wrong; Calk's ROM was awesome too, it's just not been in active development for a while. Also, cool if the blu kuban isn't your cup of tea; for a close-to-stock experience Calk may still be pretty hard to beat -- again, been a while since I was looking for a close-to-stock ROM. Another one I have experience with is Agat63's -- lightly themed with a more AOSP/ics look to it, but still basically a debloated/tweaked/optimized stock ROM w/o heavy theming or mods; agat generally focuses on stability 1st, performance enhancement 2nd in his tweaks.
I just went from BAMF to Paranoid Android 4.2 and for the life of me I can't figure out why so many people are talking up this ROM, could someone please explain it to me because I need to be missing something.
The only thing that looked interesting was the UI features which do not work correctly. The Opaque Statusbar and Taskbar do not work. Randomly they will go back to solid black then never goes back to Opaque. The Tablet UI seems awesome but the Taskbar buttons are way to small. So I figured I would change the DPI but it makes the Statusbar clock huge and the notifications area pop-up moves half-way off the screen rendering it unusable.
So after those features are taking away there really is no custom / developer settings on the ROM so it's pretty much pointless.
A lot of people like a tablet UI but don't like the smaller DPI or visa/versa et cetera.

I came from AOKP milestone 1 to PA 2.99.5 and while I like the 4.2 I'm thinking it might be time to go back to AOKP. I thought the Phablet UI was interesting but when I tried it... it didn't work correctly. I do like the per-app customization but I'd rather customize other areas of the phone with my time. Add I miss my integrated weather on the lockscreen.

You are pretty much in the same boat am I. I was just hoping something happened during my install of Paranoid and that's why it wasn't working or features were missing or something. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this ROM is defiantly lacking.
I am staying hopeful though. Once they get this ROM out of beta maybe Tablet UI will be working, and they will include some basic customization.
I do not see any problems with PA 2.99.5 whatsoever.. It works perfectly fine..smooth, good battery life, no lags, everything works as it should.. Once again, it is a matter of preference.. You putting up this thread was a matter of preference.. But once again, it is advisable that you do not complain by making a new thread.. Just post in the PA thread.. Molesarecoming is always open to constructive criticism..Once again, the word is "constructive criticism" the diversity of ROMs in the Galaxy Nexus community is what makes many stick with the nexus. so before bashing other ROMs, please just remember you not liking it, doesnt mean it's the same for others. If you hate it so much twitter it or fb it or something. >.<

I'm not bashing anyone work at all, honestly I just wanted to know if I was missing something from the ROM since so many seem to use it. I have used it for 2 days now and none of the UI tweaks are functional, or do not work properly or are just way to small with no functional way to increase size. But the ROM is smooth and quick with insane boot speed.
Here is info on PA 2.99+ in a nutshell. First and foremost, you all downtalking tabletui need to realize that it does not actually exist in android 4.2, the paranoidandroid team found it deactivated by google in the code for 4.2 and they spent their time making it available again, it is in no way a finished product, if you want to see it work good then download a version of PA with an android 4.1x base ( i.e. PA 2.54 or before). Now onto people that cannot see the big deal, well anyone that tried the pre 4.2 PA knows that there is more customization available in PA than any other rom put together. Now PA 2.99+ are all AOSP based instead of CM based so they basically are building this rom from scratch to improve speed, performance and battery life for everyone, this means that a lot is not even integrated back into the rom yet. Simply trying out the newest PA will not give you a feel for why it is hands down the best rom out there. As for transparency, that only works on the homescreen and in order to properly utilize it you must A. be using a compatible launcher which has the homescreen backgrounds drawn correctly ( i.e. Apex, Stock or Holo etc, NOVA does not work) B. Choose a correct transparent hexcode or slide the transparency bar to where you would like it for that said Launcher in the "apps" section of paranoid preferences. I am on 2.99 Beta 5 and have full transparency with no issues that you speak of (Photo included as proof), in fact, Beta 5 has added almost everything I want back into the rom and fully functional, I can hardly wait for v3.0, seriously, I cannot see ever using another rom after using paranoidandroid, it just has the edge on everything else out there. AOKP and CM have nothing on it especially when it's at 100% again, which will be in the next couple weeks at the rate it's awesome devs work at!
tabUI is not existant in 4.2, what you see right now is raw honeycomb. if you want to see how good it was install 2.54, thats still based on 4.1. but right now i got to make my hands dirty with this. i know that on xda most people do not understand the difference between developing and kanging, and they wonder "why's this rom slower than others" but someones gotta do the dirty work and im okay if crackflashers avoid ours. they avoid cm for the same reason.
as for hybrid engine, i dont think you have understood it yet. it works flawless and it gives you more customization than all roms on xda combined, IF you can handle it. yes, you are able to make a button pink in this and that rom, but hybrid can transform thousands of apps and components to the better, with practical implications that are unheard of. the apps that are running on your huge 720p screen were not optimized for it, they're in the same layout that applies to pocketwatches or stone age miniature phones like the htc wildfire.
as for opacity, no app, obviously, draws underneath the bars - why would it. the launcher can do it, but again - not all do. nova has even a bug that offsets the wallpapers which leaves a black gap. our launcher works, apex works, holo works and perhaps a bunch of others. no rom does it differently, simply because its impossible.
the real difference is that we are producing features that push androids boundaries, we are sick of a homogen rom culture that hasnt really moved one inch for a couple of years now. all these roms are the same, do you realize that? kanging has produced one grey mass and nothing stands out. when we are done with our beta we will of course bring in all the essential features aswell, but new features have greater priority. and these blow everthing related to it clean out of the water.
compare build.prop hacks with hybrid engine, its like night and day. this is quite possibly the biggest rom scene improvement android has ever had.
compare rom scene color tweaks with per-app-color, its like night and day. normal roms are static, they give you one color and thats that. our colors shift from app to app.
compare extended desktop (which also came from us) with per-app-fullscreen
compare our recents with clearall implementations,
we had the most versatile toggles on android in 4.1 (right now we're implementing a new panel which will come in beta6)
etc.
but you got to understand that this stuff takes alot of time. i know i could just rename an open source rom, call myself "founder," post in 30 device forums and make craploads of money here on xda, but i chose not to and im happy i found a few guys that think in the same way. im content with the few people that use PA and the support i get from those, i dont see myself competing with any other rom for that matter. i dont feel like i have to stop all my work now just because this and that rom has a minor option that we dont have at the moment.

I think the new 4.2 based PA roms might only be available for the Nexus series phones and tablets currently since the developers have started over building it from the ground up using AOSP source instead of CyanogenMod. I am not certain if the code is out there for other devs to build on their particular devices yet though.
I know that I should "try them myself", but there are a billion ROMs here and I haven't been following any outside of CM/AOKP. It doesn't help that a few of the ROM threads here that seem promising are kind of messy and difficult to sift through and the forum is too saturated to search properly for simple terms. Instead of posting questions in ROM threads and risking getting flamed, I decided to create a thread here. I'm looking for a new daily driver based on TouchWiz JellyBean (no AOSP/CM/AOKP/etc.), and I'm willing to try out ROMs based on your suggestions
Primarily looking for:
-Stability and lack of bugs (all hardware/software works as intended)
-Speed and smoothness
-Battery life
-Screen Modes (dynamic, standard, natural and movie modes from international version/Note 2)*
-one-handed operation mode (for keyboard, dialer, etc. from Note 2)*
-pop-up browser and/or multi-window/multi-view
Not crucial, but preferred:
-AOSP/multi-target/circle lock screen
-GNote 2 SMS app or inverted/dark background AOSP SMS app
-4.2 keyboard (I can add this myself if anything)
-camera on call and enable camera on low battery
Don't want:
-4.2 camera (unless I can remove it and use the TouchWiz camera)
-AOSP/AOKP themed MMS with quickreply (unless the bugs with image display, sending and rotation have been fixed)
-Bravia engine/acid audio/beats audio/etc. (it's fine if I can remove it myself without breaking anything)
-heavy/over-the-top theming
*not sure if any ROMs here have this feature
If you're running, developing or familiar with a ROM that you think is close to what I'm looking for, please direct me to the thread and I'll give it a try. Thanks in advance for the help

Well, I spent many hours online researching and reading about ROM's, made a nandroid and clean-flashed a few ROM's from AT&T and Rogers bases. So far...I'm really disappointed in TouchWiz. While my friends with the S3 or Note 2 on other carriers have shown me a fast, fluid and flawless out-of-the-box experience (albeit with some bloatware), every TouchWiz ROM I tried was noticeably laggy to the point that some of my apps and games were unusable (same apps are just fine on my friend's devices and on my device running AOKP). On top of that, TouchWiz seems to introduce black clipping in video playback using any hardware player (not present on my friend's Note 2 and not present on my S3 with AOKP). This is a dealbreaker for me.
I guess I really do have to settle with AT&T's devices: either certain important features don't work or I have to deal with a bunch of minor bugs and the device lags more than my Captivate in some common scenarios

Does your ROM include an MMS app besides the AOSP one with quick-reply? I know everyone says it 'works 100%', but I always have problems with MMS images not displaying properly/at all after a week or two of using it. Not to pester you with questions, but do you also happen to know if the mDNIE mode can be changed in TouchWiz ROM's (ie. via build.prop)? I suspect this is what's causing the black clipping issue, as I always disabled mDNIE in AOKP.
Edit: Nvm, I just noticed the option to flash another MMS app. Still curious about mDNIE modes though, as I can't stand the dark scenes in my videos being invisible on TouchWiz ROM's.

I just started downloading it, I'll definitely report back tomorrow when I get a chance to flash it. Not sure how I overlooked it in my search :silly:
From what I remember from a post by supercurio, the mDNIE tuning is part of the drivers and would require a custom kernel to fix, as the black clipping issue is present on almost all TouchWiz devices except the original Galaxy S and devices with screen modes that can be changed to something like 'Cinema' or 'Movie' (Exynos devices).
Try loserskaters rom "LoserRom" I flashed it a while ago and its doing great, no FC's, no random reboots etc etc

I was recently running Drew Garen Serenity 1.2. It's a port of the Jelly Bean ROM from the Note 2. It has all of the working features of the Note 2 except Multi Windows. It does include the 1 hand operation mode you were wanting. It also includes the Note 2 Gallery, which I really liked.
Galaxy Mod Rls14 is really good too and features working Multi Window. I can't remember if it has 1 hand operation.

Definitely an improvement. Seems similar to the previous ROM's I tried, but now my apps and games no longer lag horribly. I like how light and AOSP-like it is from the initial flash. Unfortunately, the black crush issue is still present and I think that'll have to be a kernel fix similar to Voodoo color on the original Galaxy S. I might keep this for now though.

I'll give it a try now that I'm in the mood to flash everything

I was recently running Drew Garen Serenity 1.2. It's a port of the Jelly Bean ROM from the Note 2. It has all of the working features of the Note 2 except Multi Windows. It does include the 1 hand operation mode you were wanting. It also includes the Note 2 Gallery, which I really liked.
Galaxy Mod Rls14 is really good too and features working Multi Window. I can't remember if it has 1 hand operation.

How stable do you find those? The main reason I was avoiding Note 2 based ROM's is that there seemed to be a lot of bugginess reported in the threads and after a while I just want something I can flash once and forget.
Thanks for all the replies, these suggestions are all in the direction I'm looking for
Edit: I gave Serenity 1.2 a try, and while it gives me the one-handed operation I'm looking for, but the Screen Mode option in the settings doesn't seem to do anything, so videos still have black crush. I was able to poorly get around this on my Infuse by using a screen filter app, but this doesn't seem to have an effect on the S3. I'm positive this is a kernel/driver issue at this point.
I found Serenity 1.2 and Galaxy Mod Rls14.1 very stable. Actually I can't remember encountering a single problem. I personally love TouchWiz. That's one of the main deciding factors for me when choosing a ROM. I guess I've just got used to it over the years. My first smartphone was a Galaxy S Fascinate on Verizon. I tried Galaxy Mod 15 but had some other issues with my phone that had to be addressed before I could really get to test it out. I'm thinking about trying it again. Which ever ROM you decide to try my best advice is to do a lot of research before you do any flashing and for goodness sakes MAKE A QCN BACKUP! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546 I didn't and lost my IMEI and had to order a replacement phone because I never could get it completely straightened out.
Jovy23 Darthstalker #9 TW and Ziggy kernel is my DD themed with Morphology. Very, very fast excellent battery life and VERY stable. I've had Serenity, CM10, Triune, Liquid Smooth, PacMan, parakangandriod and many, many others.
I highly recommend Darthstalker its, in my humble opinion, one of the best.
