Hey all, I'm new Samsung Galaxy Nexus User so I need little bit help, hope someone can help me!
I I have bought Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.1 ICS and I updated it to 4.0.2 in about phone section in settings! and it does not find newer update for it!
Is there any official update.zip for 4.0.2 to update it to 4.0.3?
I bought this phone from Finland and it's not Verizon 4G LTE phone!
If I update it to 4.0.3 then can I keep my apps and all other? (dalvik vm must cleaned..?)
and Does 4.0.3 have Estonian language?
(I don't want to brick that phone so that's why I am asking help..
+ why Gameloft games is not working on Galaxy Nexus? /:
and what is the best and most stable + newest kernel for Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks if someone can help me!
The latest OTA from Google on the GSM Nexus is 4.0.2, hope that helps!
If you want 4.0.3, you'll have to go the custom rom route.

Yes, it is a known fact that rooting requires you to "oem unlock" you phone... which clears all the data on the phone, including the internal storage... hope you read that before proceeding...
4.0.3 was never published as an official update...
Not everyone got/gets the 4.0.4 OTA update...
And if you have the CDMA Galaxy Nexus... all updates will come from Google by they will be co-branded by Verizon (i.e., they will have Verizon proprietary files needed for CDMA/LTE)... so you cannot get an "official" ICS update without Verizon involved...
I just wanted to let everyone know that I just got the yakjuxw 4.0.4 update ota on my stock unrooted galaxy nexus (previously 4.0.2). I have the white international version and if I'm not mistaken, am receiving updates through samsung not Google.
There is hope for those of you yakjuxw stock users!
Many people here have posted it that YAKJUXW got the update to 4.0.4..
I used YAKJUXW 4.0.2 ROM but I didn't want to wait anymore so I flashed TAKJU and then Jelly Bean 4.1 and now everything is better... I still miss YAKJUXW ICS.
Hopefully YAKJUXW gets 4.1 update soon, if not then that's cr#p..
There is already a thread for this here:

Like many of you others out there, the past few days, I've been flashing all different kinds of Jelly Beans on my GSM Galaxy Nexus. First, I installed bigxie's 4.1 (v1 and v2), then I installed bigxie's 4.1.1 (AOSP). It might be important to mention that my Gnex is originally a yakju and obviously all these versions of JB are for takju, so my phone has essentially been "converted." Later I reflashed the stock 4.1 from the I/O and then installed the official Google .zip file (from xda) that updates from the I/O 4.1 to 4.1.1. After doing this, I noticed this morning that my kernel version was different from others who had just installed 4.1.1 via OTA with the System Updates. So this afternoon I used the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit v7.4 to download and flash the Google factory ICS 4.0.4 image, which obviously deleted everything from the phone. Then I turned wifi on and went to System Update and it was already downloading the Jelly Bean official update, as pictured below:

After installing the above update, I checked the phone's info section and I still had a different kernel version than everyone else, as see below:

While I have kernel 3.0.31-ge8de0e2, it seems like other people have 3.0.31-g6fb96c9. As mentioned before, I had to resort to going back to stock, vanilla 4.0.4, then downloading/installing the update and I still don't have this newer kernel. What is different about this kernel and why is my phone unable to get it?
I have that build of the kernel (g6fb96cp), it really shouldn't matter which one you have.
Something strange just happened to my phone.
After doing some searching online, it seems that the 3.0.31-ge8de0e2 kernel is the same one that comes with the developer preview of JB 4.1 from the Google I/O phones. Just now, I downloaded an update for Google+, and when I restarted my phone, I was suddenly magically on the 3.0.31-g6fb96c9.
Is it even possible that a single app update could carry a kernel update as well?!?!?

Now that I couldn't answer, it's possible but unlikely. All an app has to do is replace boot.img, something that many other kernel apps are capable of (franco.kernel's app, ezekeel's app).
Hi mates,
A friend of mine just acquired the GN mentioned above and haven't received the JB upgrade; he asked me to flash it to official JB, yet I haven't see any post with a especific method for that device, should I flash it with 4.0.4 yakyu and force the JB OTA?
Thanks in advance.
thats what i would do.
If you want the Jelly Bean then flash "takju" or "yakju" Jelly Bean stock ROM. (Not factory image), then flash XXLF1 radio baseband if you want and then LC03 bootloader and you have Jelly Bean, or if you want then flash yakju, takju factory image via Odin/fastboot and update itto JRO03C Jelly Bean via the OTA update...
it takes too much time to get Jelly Bean to Yakjuxw, I have Galaxy Nexus which had Yakjuxw as the original build (4.0.1 - 4.0.2) and I flashed takju Jelly Bean 4.1 and then I flashed other bootloader and radio via fastboot and now it's much better.. for my Nexus the yakju 4.0.4 drains too much the battery so that's why I use takju's Jelly Bean ROM..

Yes that's the right way to do it. Go to yakju and wait for the OTA or manually flash it if you're anxious.
Hi,
I am from India and using Gnex ("yakju") unlocked phone with JB 4.1.1 version. I am planning to upgrade my phone with 4.1.2 build since it is released. But the OTA update on my phone does not show any new version and still says "Phone is up to date".
Can someone please suggest me what could be the reason here.
Thanks a lot for your time.
Bhupinder
First, your location really has nothing to do with the OTA. If you're running yakju or takju, the software update will come to you quickly regardless of where you happen to live at that time.
As far as the 4.1.2 OTA goes, very very very few people are actually seeing it. I find it hard to believe that its even rolling out officially yet. If you're anxious for 4.1.2 you can flash the stock image, which is available. Otherwise, just wait for it to show up and notify you that it's ready to download. It will come, there's nothing special you need to do.
Thanks a lot for clearing my doubts. I was under the impression that 4.1.2 is released via OTA.
And surely I will wait for the release to be available by Google.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I couldn't find any significant changes for Gnex on 4.1.2 changelogs...
