[Q] where can find official ICS 4.0.3 ROM (not verizon..) - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey all, I'm new Samsung Galaxy Nexus User so I need little bit help, hope someone can help me!
I I have bought Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.1 ICS and I updated it to 4.0.2 in about phone section in settings! and it does not find newer update for it!
Is there any official update.zip for 4.0.2 to update it to 4.0.3?
I bought this phone from Finland and it's not Verizon 4G LTE phone!
If I update it to 4.0.3 then can I keep my apps and all other? (dalvik vm must cleaned..?)
and Does 4.0.3 have Estonian language?
(I don't want to brick that phone so that's why I am asking help..
+ why Gameloft games is not working on Galaxy Nexus? /:
and what is the best and most stable + newest kernel for Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks if someone can help me!

The latest OTA from Google on the GSM Nexus is 4.0.2, hope that helps!
If you want 4.0.3, you'll have to go the custom rom route.

Yes, it is a known fact that rooting requires you to "oem unlock" you phone... which clears all the data on the phone, including the internal storage... hope you read that before proceeding...
4.0.3 was never published as an official update...
Not everyone got/gets the 4.0.4 OTA update...
And if you have the CDMA Galaxy Nexus... all updates will come from Google by they will be co-branded by Verizon (i.e., they will have Verizon proprietary files needed for CDMA/LTE)... so you cannot get an "official" ICS update without Verizon involved...

[Q] ICS 4.0.2 (ICL53F) (F)OTA due in Europe (Netherlands)

Couldn't find the thread while scrolling through numerous threads, so many have been written. I currently own the SGN with official 'yakju' build from Google, ICS 4.0.1.
It is well known the OTA 4.0.2 ICL53F has been rolling out in Europe. I am however still on 4.0.1 (ITL41F) and selecting software update showing there are no updates available.
Anybody already received the update to 4.0.2 (with a fair few bug fixes) in the Netherlands? I am starting to think we do get our updates fairly slow in the Netherlands.
I live in Sweden and have a British (UK) handset bought from Clove in the early days of December.. I'm still on 4.0.1 (ITL41F) as well! Hopefully we will start seeing 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 rolling out soon
No update here. Yakju build..

I ended up flashing the 4.0.2 stock image from http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html and just wiped my phone and set it all up again.

Thanks guys for your replies Knowing I, with many, am not alone with 4.0.1
Is it necessary to get root if I want to install the official image?

I got the 4.0.2 update on my NL purchased GN (studentmobiel.nl) almost as soon as I took it out the box... in fact I got the notification before I even had a chance to root and unlock it, this was way back before Christmas (I got one of the first batch of deliveries).
I'd heard they've pulled the update due to some issues with the build. Probably releasing 4.0.3 soon, though
You don't need root to install a stock image but I think the bootloadee must be unlocked.

Hmm this is one of the reactions I was hoping for 'cause I too ordered it at studentmobiel.nl and nothing yet!
I haven't rooted the GN yet but am waiting for the FOTA. I know updates are spread over a period of time but still odd. You think it's related to a specific provider?

Yeah heard that too so the update never reached mine (and a lot of others) before it was pulled out.
Well time to wait or to root and flash some then, cheers!

If Google fixed something in 4.0.3, it should be released with newer built number. 4.0.4? Or 4.1 that was discussed a bit lately?
My only hope is battery life improvement and faster performance

I believe they fixed a few things in our build 4.0.1 that resulted in 4.0.2. I don't know exactly what the changes are for 4.0.3 although I'm running 4.0.3 on my SG S 1 but that is custom CM9.
I have to say my battery is great on our SGN and it's really fast in it's performance, especially if I compare it to SGS 1 with ICS. Ofcourse we have a way better processor, memory etc. in our SGN.

That's weird. I'm pretty sure i have had my GNex in the first "Studentmobiel.nl" Delivery Batch and was delivered on the 8th of December.
Untill now, i did NOT receive any OTA Update so i'm still running 4.01 Yakju.
The phone came SIM-locked Free, in combination with Vodafone SIM. But i'm still using my KPN SIM and did not even used my Vodafone SIM-card yet.
What could be the difference? You do have received the OTA Update!
Tnx

No mate, I live in Belgium and have the GSM version, still on 4.0.1 ! I heard that 4.0.3 is much faster !

Not sure.
Remember the 4.0.3 update was halted - I'm not sure about the 4.0.2 update.
I had a VF SIM in when I got my OTA but like yours mine was SIM free and unlocked.
But really, just put a custom 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 rom on there and be done with it...

So you now running a Custom Rom? Which one and what are your experiences?
I've learned that Unlocking the Bootloader will wipe all my data?
Can you, besides having Root, explain the advantages between Custom and Stock Rom?
Much appreciated......

Yes, I'm running MCR Ir8 (Modaco Custom ROM) which is actually a tuned version of stock, not a full custom ROM. As a result it's very, very stable. It's based on 4.0.2 which is Google's latest release for the GN.
If you run a custom ROM you can even get a 4.0.3 one which is compiled directly from Android source code. But there's a reason Google hasn't released 4.0.3 yet via OTA so you can read into that what you will - 4.0.3 is cutting edge now but may not be 100% stable.
Nevertheless, I used the 4.0.3 AOKP ROM for a bit and thought it was great.
Custom ROM's tend to be more feature rich than stock ROM's including many settings that people feel are "missing" from stock roms... some of which are mods that can be applied to a stock rom but others are changes that go much deeper. For example CyanogenMod, by far the most popular custom rom in Android world, has and additional 30 or so options you can set that you can't do with a stock rom - from memory management to user interface to all sorts.
Yes you will wipe your phone if you unlock the bootloader. There is a way to backup beforehand using ADB, I think there's a guide here somewhere??? But in my mind it's worth the pain, you only have to do it once.
Best way to discover the wonders of a custom rom is to install it and have a play... I'd recommend either MCR (very close to stock) or AOKP (bleeding edge 4.0.3).

No Update for Yakjuzs Build

I bought a galaxy nexus from newegg and checked the version to be Yakjuzs. It loads an Asian language by default when the phone is switched on for the first time
I still have the 4.0.1
Basebad Version - I9250XXKK1
Build Number - ITL41F.I9250ZSKKB
Has anybody with similar specifications received the 4.0.2 update?
I do the *#*#2432546#*#* several times a day but no luck!
I'm currently using the phone only on WiFi and without a SIM card.
same build, no update
I'm considering switching to yakju build

I doubt it. The 4.0.3 update isn't large enough for a large scale deployment, but really...buying a Nexus phone and not rooting it is like buying a Ferrari but only going 20MPH..
odd, my yakjuzs nexus came with 4.0.2 and baseband version - I9250XXKK6 out of the box, meaning there is actually an upgrade out there i guess.
IMO 4.0.2 is not worth it, neither is waiting for the official 4.0.3 roll out - you're better off sparing yourself the wait unlocking/rooting then flashing a custom 4.0.3 rom. the difference is so huge that it's embarrassing, frankly speaking

Agreed. 4.0.3 is soo much better and smoother than 4.0.2 theres no point in waiting for an OTA upgrade
Whats bugging me is that the Nexus S ALREADY has an official stock 4.0.3 rom and the motorola xoom has an OFFICIAL IML77 Rom out right now.
Google should be putting out the latest builds to the nexus before anyone else gets it.

The Nexus S OTA has been stopped, and the Xoom ICS OTA is a beta build you have to sign up for.
Google will push the 4.0.3 OTA when its ready. If you're ancy you can just root. But I understand if you dont want to.

Excuse me, but does anybody know what was the reason for stoping OTA for SNS? I flashed it manually same second I saw info on the interwebs and it runs pretty good. No big complains.
My gNexus is ("was", 'used to be') a yakjuzs ...
After reading about the lack of OTA I downloaded the update from the official google website and installed it 20 minutes or so ...
Works nice but I couldn´t find any improvements ... people say that franco's 4.0.3 (#12) changes the device from water to wine ...
If you decide to update to 4.0.2 yakzu, just one advice: mine got stuck in a loading loop forever ... until I did a factory reset (from the fastboot mode).

[Q] franco kernel for 4.0.1/4.0.2

Hey guys, I have a galaxy nexus and I was wondering if there was a franco kernel for 4.0.1/4.0.2. I'd like to keep the stock ROM and just get that kernel. I only see the 4.0.3 one..but I want to stay on Stock, I don't like custom ROMs.
I found many franco kernels but i'm not sure which one to use.
On a separate note, I'm currently on 4.0.1 and waiting for 4.0.2. If i root using the GNtoolkit, does it automatically upadte me to 4.0.2? (I did not want to make a separate thread for for this question)
Thanks!!
Don't think so
I guess you're right! now I have to find a good 4.0.3 ROM for the kernel
Personally I use aokp, definitely happy with it.

Download the GN Official Update Checker from the market and run it. If your phone is "yakju" then you will get 4.0.2 soon, but since you are still waiting for it I'm guessing you aren't yakju. You can use the Toolkit to flash yakju with the stock factory image from Google. Rooting is separate.

Help with Nexus update!?!

Hi guys. I'm from Brazil and the Galaxy Nexus is named Galaxy X around here, but it's the usual GSM thing that is out for AT&T. Anyway, I'm running stock ICS (4.0.2) and I checked Internet and discovered that several people are already running Jelly Bean due an OTA update by Google. But when I check if there are any updates on the phone, it just tells that it is updated. My question is: is it alright or I am missing an update? Should I root and use CM10? Will it take too long to get stable? Thank you, greetings from Brazil!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.cbruegg.officialupdate try this and tell us what is says
A little info. You could flash a Google stock image or choose one of the numerous custom ROMs available, only you can deside which is right for you.

Only yakju and takju builds of GSM Galaxy Nexuses are updated by Google, Galaxy X has a yakjuvs build and is updated by Samsung. Samsung promissed end of August as a deadline for JB on yakjuvs (no 4.0.4 for yakjuvs).
If you don't want to wait, there are a ton of tutorials explaining how to flash a factory image, just get the jelly beans factory image and do it, but, be aware that you will loose all data in your phone (and by all, I mean ALL data, including "sdcard" data). If you don't want to lose all your data, cross your fingers and hope that Samsung deliver what they've promissed...
If you still need to ROOT and are worried about losing your data you can use the Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit.

Official Jelly Bean update for my i9260 (Canada/Unlocked/GSM)

Hello all. I appologize for the silly question, or if it has been asked before, but here it is.
I just picked up a Galaxy Nexus online, brand new and unlocked. I got it, popped in my Virgin SIM, have it all ready to go and synced with my Google account, but I am stuck on ICS.
Here as some specs:
Android Version: 4.0.1
Baseband Version: I9250UGKK7
Kernel: 3.0.1-ge2433f2 [email protected] #1
Build Number: ITL41D.I9250UGKK7
If I go to System updates for the OTA update, it tells me that the sustem is up to date.
Is there any way to get the official update for my Nexus?
Also, the device is not rooted, and does not have an unlocked bootloader.
Please let me know, as I am very interested!
Thank you!
Lambrecht van Dijk
The GSM version of the Gnex is sold with different software variants in the although all look almost the same.
Only the Takju and Yakju variants are updated to Jelly Bean and that update is offered directly by google. All other variants (yakjuxw, yakjuxx and others) are updated by samsung.
You can, however, flash a yakju or takju factory image from google and then get all the updates fast but that means you'll need to unlock your bootloader, and flash that image. That will result in a complete wipe of your data, including the internal memory (where you keep your music, photos and so on). Make a backup and read the threads here in the forum.
Cheers!

That is a radio, not a build. And yes, yakjuux will get a update pretty soon... There's already been a leaked version on xda right now (thank you efrant!).
If you are willing to wipe your phone once to unlock your bootloader, I day flash to yakju or takju, since these variants gets the updates much faster than yakjuux variant.

Even though Google devices are kings in the Android world, WHY THE H£LL DOES GOOGLE F-UPS ALL OF THEIR NEXII!?!?!?!?
Is it hard to say, "WE ARE GONNA BE IN CHARGE OF UPDATES!!! SO SHUT UP VERIZON, SPRINT, CANADIAN CARRIERS, AND EVERYONE ELSE FOR THEIR OWN BUILDS & CARRIER CONTROL!!!!"
The only success seems to be the Nexus 7 since they can't run on a carrier, leaving it with only one version of the OFFICIAL software.
