I saw a post on Android Development of Galaxy S of CM10. It looks quite good and not much bug. Just to ask if anyone is gonna try to port it. As the source code is released. And Galaxy S has few bugs. So I suppose SGW as well.
I am new and know nth about developing ROM. But only know how to flash. : p so I wanna ask if any senior member can port it? I really wanna have Jelly Bean
No offence. Just asking
thanks

Oh that would be fantastic, I would be happy to test if CM10 does get a port to our phone.
Brian, next time use more meaningful subject for the post, please.
And I believe that this is not Development, so this thread should be on General.

Cm10 wouldd be great, i like butter . If the camera problem in cm9 would be solved, would the camera in cm10 automatically work? Or would it need other bugfixing/drivers/or whatever? I would like to test cm10, but it wouldnt be the rom im using all day if camera isnt working.

CM9 is based on 4.0.4 and I think you should know. CM10 bases on 4.1.1
I am new but according to my estimation. If the camera is fixed in CM9. I think it doesn't mean the one in CM10 can be fixed too. Though both are still on 4.x.x but they are named completely different. JB and ICS. If they are similar. I mean their source or sth idk I am new. Then android development won't name it JB but call it ICS 4.1
So I think more bugs are coming. I am just guessing.

Hi,
I think it will be easiest port the camera drivers from ICS to Jelly Bean. The big problem is make a Camera driver the first time. If we put the camera working I think will be more simply port to jelly bean.

Thats what i hoped for in the first place, that once camera wad fixed in ics, it would be easier in jb . Im seeing lots of development right now at sgw. How can it still be a low activityand legacy device? Or do other phones have way more development?

Other phones even ones with specs not as good as the SGW has more devs working on it, like for instance the Xperia x10 mini has more devs and custom roms than our phone even though more can be done with the SGW.
Just take a look for yourself http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=726
True , does the sgsplus also have more development?

By the way, since cm7 camera for sgw now works, that wont improve anything with cm9 will it? :')

ICS sourced dropped like a week ago, the device has been out for a couple months
The biggest problem is that there is no aosp kernel right now that works. So once we have that there is a better chance at getting aosp roms.

Well there's supposedly a build of CM7 Kang that works quite well on the SGSIIE4GT with some mod work. It was also sent to one of our main devs, Viper boy, and I'm pretty sure he and his team are ripping that thing apart line by line to make it work the best it can. They like to release finished products and they literally just got it yesterday... so.. idk hopefully soon!!!

Don't both phones share the same CDMA radios, and some similar Samsung hardware ?

Hold up: Who exactly did you "clarify" that with? I'm only curious because I was the one who sent that kanged Rom to Viperboy, and it was MOST DEFINITELY NOT an ICS Rom when I sent him the link to my Dropbox. When, exactly, did it morph from a tired CM7 build into an ICS ROM?
Am I now known as an "underground smuggler" of ICS ROMs??

wow.. i cant wait till there is a test version of this rom available for the masses. Im constantly going back between CM10 and Diet ICS/kyanROm. I simply dont have good battery life with ICS roms, but with CM10, its a day and night difference in terms of battery consumption. Only downside to Cm10 is that there is no access to netflix just yet.
But Cm10 is a work in progress (WIP), so it will get better, as it already has, in due time.
still prefer the pure bean!

Hi I was wondering how I could get jelly bean on my phone. I'm with Telus in Canada and they are not expected to get jelly bean for a long time or not at all. I keep seeing people on YouTube with it on their phones so I'm guessing they have a leaked version of it.
Is there a tutorial that someone could direct me too on how to do this? I don't want to wait for my stupid carrier just to tell me they aren't going to get it.

There is no TW JB at the moment. Any of the AOSP JB ROMS should work on the T989D. Be sure to nandroid first, just in case it doest work. Be wary though, AOSP JB ROMs have a random reboot bug. Many have reported going days without them. Up to you if you are willing to live with that.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Hmm I don't know if I want it randomly rebooting. I've dealt with that before and it's annoying. I can wait until something more stable is out.

try muni rom
JB is not yet stable, generally, on the T989.
Certain users are getting stability, but the JB ROM development threads are filling up with reports of random reboots (RR), and sleep of death (SOD). Numerous other camera, music, bluetooth and SD card issues are also common.
AOKP milestone 6 is the best combination of speed, smoothness, stability and battery life..... At least in my experience. And I've flashed a ton of ROMs.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
CM10 M2 is quite stable as well. Using it from last 4 days and no RR or SOD's for me.
Ya I guess it's a little early for it. I want to avoid problems. I'll just have to be patient until something stable comes out. I've always wanted a cyanogen rom so I could over clock. Maybe I'll find something else in the mean time.

Those random reboots have been fixed on the AOKP & CM ROM's, they've been fixed for a while now, i know this because I've been flashing basically all of them. The only issue for some is while recording video you may get a graphical glitch(lines popping up on your screen), but the latest AOKP jellybean have been fine for me.

There are a few JB TouchWiz leaks out there. They're still not stable enough to be daily drivers yet though. Latest one from a day or so ago looks fairly promising, but it'll probably be a little while before they're solid.
