Go to this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?qdzchln5vze836g and download the froyo RUU. It takes the phone back to stock, out-of-box, condition, as far as OS is concerned. You can then run the reflash package from unrevoked.com to achieve S-Off
Another user (soniclude) posted more in depth in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488351 which is more specifically about fixing the "low on space" warning. However, I don't recommend applying that fix... It made my incredible freeze and randomly reboot all the time. So I ended up reflashing back to stock to eliminate the "fix"

Your best bet is to follow one of these threads.

Thx for the answer!
Edit: Sorry, now i see how it is done. Another question, can i do this using CM9 on my phone? Cause it is suppose to upgrade my phone.

If I flash an older rom, can I then use an older RUU?

I wasn't sure about the answer to this question, so I thought I'd just go to Q&A and ask. I searched and didn't find anything on this specifically. I'm a bit worried about using the latest RUU since the whole 2.02 HBoot thing (though I'm not sure if it would update older phones to that version). I was wondering if I'd be able to use the recovery to flash an early rooted rom and from there use an RUU and unroot it to that earlier version.
Sorry if that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, I'm just wondering if I can trick the RUU into letting me install an old version. A botched unrooting left me with the 0.93 hboot instead of my usual .76 eng hboot.
I don't think that this will work for ya, you need to downgrade your hboot. From my experiences by downgrading my hboot i was able to flash older ruu files.

Oh well, I'll just flash the latest PC36IMG.ZIP. I found it on the 2.02 hboot thread. It doesn't really matter, I only need to unroot this thing long enough to have Sprint accept it. It's been rebooting so much lately that I can barely use it for longer than 30 minutes. This was my last resort after wiping repeatedly, changing SD cards and other things.
just remember to flash the Unrevoked S-On tool too.

[Q] Does PC36IMG Also Contain A "Stock" Recovery?

This is a simple question that I have:
If I were to want to return to bone stock -- I mean like, fresh out of the cardboard box -- on my EVO, would using Bootloader to flash PC36IMG.zip replace EVERYTHING, including Amon-Ra's recovery image?
Just curious, and unfortunately there seems to be some FUD in some of the threads I've seen about unrooting and such.
Any knowledgeable folk have an answer?
T.I.A.
A "stock" recovery is no recovery. So if you unrooted, ran the ruu, ect, and tried to boot into recovery, you'd be met with the triangle and a ! indicating no recovery.

PC36IMG is sufficient. Same results as RUU. Just be sure to turn your S-on before running the PC36IMG, using the Unrevoked S on tool (that is if you ever used Unrevoked forever at any point in time)

I don't know if when you download it, it would change to the correct extension; you could always try changing it. Either way, you're in luck.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19699565/3.70 RUU Zip.zip
A link to my dropbox of a 3.70 RUU in PC36IMG form, just put on your sdcard and flash in the bootloader.
PC3GIMG.zip is just the name of the file that hboot looks for to flash, they are all different! Some PC36IMGs have recoveries, some have radios, some have ROMs, etc... You need to be careful which one you flash, and KNOW for sure whats in it before you do because you run the risk of messing up your phone if you flash the wrong one!

Correct, then the PC36IMG and you'll be all set.
So what is the difference between an RUU and a PC36IMG.zip? My hardware 0003 evo has an 2.10 hboot and the baseband of 2.15. 00.11.19

The RUU (ROM Update Utility) is IN a PC36IMG.zip.
Turn S-ON back on.
Go into Bootloader.
Allow it to detect.
Update (make sure you have the correct PC36IMG.zip).
not to hi-jack the thread but say HTC/Sprint did upgrade to the EVO 4G to GB could i flash the "stock" recovery without running the ruu and wiping everything? i use stock rom but like the features Root and Amon Ra brings havent found a custom rom that like everything seems to be themed and not my style.

Again, "stock" recovery is no recovery. And if you were to upgrade, you'd have to root, and you can keep the rooted stock rom. You can flash CM7 which is basically stock android AOSP, not themed. Can always flash back if you don't like it, and everything is working.
Yeah I know about cm used it on pretty much everything g1 nexus mt4g etc I like some stuff sense have to offer over asop I always end up flashing to see the new stuff I prefer stock android but the usb transfer speed is killing me atm waiting for that to get fixed and I understand stock is recovery guess ima have to titanium backup which works but some issues thanks tho I try stuff nandroid is my bestfriend in android

Did you use unrEVOked to turn S-ON? If so, and please correct me if I'm wrong, to my understanding you can only use that method if you used unrEVOked to root originally. In which case, you may need to use a different method. Perhaps the reason for S-OFF coming back.

[Q] putting stock rom back on branded htc desire

Morning people. Just have question in relation to unrooting h3g UK branded desire. I need to send back to get q minor hardware problem fixed. My software info is as follows.
andriod version 2.2
baseband version 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14

I also have the newer model which when rooted via unrevoked does not give s-off.
I have a goldcard and would just like to get a definitive answer. Will using the Rom for h3g on shipped roms website unroot my phone. Bear in mind I cannot back up my current Rom
thanx in advance!
the at is the sign but can't post it due to link rules for new users1
Yes, it will unroot your phone.
Swyped from Oxygen
Thanx for tje reply. Any suggestions on which one to use. Also how do I use my gold card?
Use the latest h3g ruu which you can find on http://shipped-roms.com
Put your goldcard in your desire, run the downloaded exe and follow the instructions on the screen.

Thanx for the tips. It a real comfort having u guys around to put our noob minds at ease. Big help!
Actually could I ask one more thing. How would o go about rooting again. This time I can't flash a new Rom. I want to be able to back up my current Rom before using alpharev to change boot. Any suggestions?
To run alpharev, you need root access. If you have root access (probably with using unrevoked), you have a revovery with witch you can backup your current system.

So it should be. But due to my model I can't flash recovery. All that happens is after selecting recovery in CWM the screen goes black and I have to take tje battery out to start the phone. I done some research on tje web and it is due to the model of desire I have. UNREVOKED does not take s-off. I know I have to use alpharev to correct it but ad I can't flash recovery I am nervous to try. Any suggestions?

Clockwork does not work with pvt4 desires. You have to flash amonra recovery.
Sent from Oxygen
aaaaaa!! was looking at that, so i flash amonra and i can then flash recover. good. i canthen take the risk using alpharev. will the ruu work with pvt4 and the hboot that i havegot. saw something that indicates that it may need downgrading?
Yes, the ruu will work with your phone.
But i think you getting something wrong:
You cannot backup your hboot with recovery. If the s-off procedure by alpharev fails, your phone might be bricked. Now backup can protect you from this, because the bootloader (which gets changed in this s-off procedure) is the absolute base of your phone. If this one is bricked, your phone is not more than a paperweight.
in the meantime i have managed to replace CWM with AmonRa. I now have a current rom back up. If some thing goes wrong with the alpharev procedure, will this recovery image allow me to restore to the current state i have now. It sounds like it won't if i am getting you correctly?

Yes I'm running a custom ROM I'll try a Froyo-based ROM and see if that helps.
It's a shame that Revolutionary doesn't support this version of HBOOT, is there any way of 'tricking' Revolutionary to S-OFF the 0.75 HBOOT?

Moving to Q&A
You can always update bootloader... if you have a goldcard then put the attached file in the root of your sd-card, and then boot into bootloader and wait for it do do it's thing.. when it prompts you select yes. This will update your bootloader to version 0.93.1002
You shouldn't lose any data, but do make a backup of the ROM in recovery in case you get a bootloop.
Then run Revolutionary.

I downloaded the file and put it on the root sdcard... Bootloader seemed to just skip over the file though.
Do I need to change the text file in the zip to my CID or anything else? It doesn't like it
you need a goldcard, so it ignores the CID.. or actually.. what network are you on?
EDIT: Just noticed lol
Wait I'm downloading a Telstra RUU and I'll give you a new PB99IMG
try this. If not, then you can always use the RUU to do a full update, and then S-OFF and flash a custom ROM.
Thanks I'll give it a try.
I have four microSD cards at home and I've tried gold carding all of them... I don't know how successful I was cos I couldn't do what I wanted on the Desire HD

Okay, well I'm gonna get to sleep now but I'll give you some advice before you go.
If you can't update the bootloader with that, I'd suggest backing up your ROM (if you havent done so already), flashing the RUU to bring it up to the latest bootloader version, and then using revolutionary.
Once you've S-OFF'd with revo. Use android flasher to flash recovery (Note: your backup will not work if you do not flash the same version of recovery) and then do a full wipe and flash a ROM of your choice.
Would you happen to know where I can get the original Telstra RUU from? I think that might be my best bet.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks - this looks like it worked now HBOOT 0.93.0001, running revolutionary now.
Is there any benefit in upgrading HBOOT at all? What does 1.02.0001 offer?
Hboot 1.xxxx is the stock hboot for gingerbread. So it offers you nothing. By flashing a hboot like cm7 (most roms fit in this hboot), you get much more space for installing apps, because its /data partition is much bigger.

[Q] Returning to stock

I'm selling my DInc on eBay in a few days (upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus). It's currently running CM7 - I plan to give the buyer the option of a stock phone or a rooted phone with CM7 (as an aside, is this a good idea, or should I just sell it stock?). So I need to make sure I know how to return it to stock if necessary.
I found a very detailed and seemingly clear procedure over on another forum (I hope I'm allowed to link to it here, if not I apologize), but I just want to make sure of a couple of things.
1. The 2.3.4 PB31IMG.zip I downloaded (from here) contains a radio as well as the ROM. It's the same radio I'm already running (2.15.10.07.07) - am I ok to flash this over what I currently have, since it's the same baseband?
2. Will this also return recovery to stock (I have CWM recovery), or is that something I have to do in a separate step? If I have to do it separately, in what order do I do it - before I return it to S-ON using Unrevoked or after? Before flashing PB31IMG.zip or after?
3. Finally, in addition to CM7, my phone has the EXT4 4 All mod installed (/data and /cache are formatted ext4 instead of ext3), do I need to be concerned about this?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Yes it is ok to flash the ruu even though it contains the same radio.
Flashinh an ruu will install the stock recovery. You will wany to flash the s-on tool on the unrevoked forever site before doing an ruu.
First you have to flash thru hboot the froyo 2.15.00.07.28 radio.
Then flash the s-on tool thru recovery.
Then do the ruu.
Thats it the phone is complete stock again, remember to format the emmc and sdcard before selling.
The ext 4 mod is not an issue if returning to stock, as it will be overwriten by the ruu. If the buyer wants it rooted i would still go in to recovery wipe everything in mounts and storrage and then flash a fresh rom.

Thanks for your response - it's very helpful. I have one question though -- why do I have to flash the Froyo 2.15.00.07.28 radio if I'm doing a Gingerbread 2.3.4 RUU that already has a later radio (2.15.10.07.07) included?
Don't worry, I'll definitely wipe everything and flash a fresh copy of CM7 if the buyer wants it rooted!

You have to go to the 07.28 radio to go s-on. Both unrevoked and the s-on tool require that radio to function properly. But then when you flash the ruu it will go back to 07.07

No problem. Also even if they want it stock you could just leave it s-off and flash the ruu. This would make it stock rom / recovery but much much simpler for them to root if they would so choose in the future.
U probably would get more money leaving it rooted with cm7
