[Q] Why is my sim not recognized in cyanogenmod? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an Xperia Play and I decided to flash it with cyanogenmod. First version I got working was the 7.1.0.2. Everything was working fine except for my network: the phone didn't even ask me for the PIN.
After this, I tried the experimental CM9.0 RC1, yet I found the same problem: SIM card not recognized, phone didn't ask PIN, no networks found.
At this point I realized I didn't install a baseband on my phone and tried that. I started flashing it with flashtool, but then forgot to install the .zip file from CWM.
With this the phone was asking for a PIN, but soon afterwards it asked for a "SIM network unlock code". My phone is not sim locked.
After I installed the baseband -36 correctly (with the .zip file from CWM), it returned to behave like before: no PIN asked, no networks found.
Is there a fix for this? I searched for a whole afternoon for this, didn't find anything. I'll give further details if needed, thanks in advance.
By the way, if I revert the system to the stock sony ericsson ROM everything works fine. My carrier is "3 Italy".
EDIT: Installed CM9RC2 and now everything works fine except for wi-fi. Well, i suppose it is to be expected from experimemntal builds.

[Q] CM 7.1 GSM FXP028a: keeps asking for network unlock pin

This is probably a stupid question, but I can't find the answer. I did the following to get CM 7.1 FXP028a running on my R800i GSM:
Flashed official 4.0.A.2.0.368 ROM with flashtool (wiped all data)
Renamed update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-XperiaPlay-R800i-KANG-signed.zip to update.zip and copied to SD card
Flashed new kernel: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Entered recovery and applied update.zip from SD card
Wiped data and cache
Reboot device
Everything seems to be working fine except that it keeps asking for a network unlock pin. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm back at the official 4.0.A.2.0.368, because it would be handy to be able to use it as a phone (as much as I like SNESoid combined with the gamepad).
I've actually encountered the same thing before.
Have you flashed googleapps after booting the first time?
(when it asks for a service pin or similar, just cancel that one)
Click on "Discard" and ignore it.
Haven't installed googleapps, will try. Simply ignoring means I can't call.

I have CM7 28a in R800i just like you. The prompt appears in my phone too, and I bought it Sim unlocked. And of course, I can call, receive calls and use 3g
I've got a similar error. my SIM card when I insert, I will always ask for the code that is supposedly wrong. disable a cell phone I need the other pin. until I get to my menu r800i GSM. then sometimes when I'm in, I get no data connection (it saves automatically or manually my network operator.
Finally had time to test again and since FXP041 is available I tried that one. Works like a charm! No issues with network pins and feels very snappy.
FYI.
I'm newbie,
But i've unlocked bootloader using this method ' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12873655&postcount=1 '
Rooted using this method ' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859&highlight=root '
And INSTALLING CYANOGEN MOD using this method ' http://www.xperiagamer.com/Beginners-Guides/loading-custom-roms.html '
after all i've done , nothing odd happen,
then i realise when my phone reboot it show (No Servis) i did insert my SIM CARD.
means no network isn't??
anyone can help me?

Because no one's concern about this.
I just figure it out.

[Q] SIM card not reading after root

I've found quite a few seperate threads on different sites about this same problem, most with different solutions.
My Original Aim:
To install the latest build of Cyanogenmod on my R800i
Methods:
I unlocked the bootloader, that worked fine but...
Problems:
after root, the phone cannot read my sim card (this is the general problem many of us seem to be having)
also:
Wi-fi connects fine, but...
the web browser cannot connect
the market seems to just crash second after opening [seem to have gotten through this problem now, will keep updating]
Any G app constantly requests login details but still cannot connect
This basically means i can't get the clockworkmod ROM manager from the market, so can't continue with my cyanogen flashing.
[from more searching it seems clockworkmod ROM manager can't flash on the play, so trying to boot it myself using other guide]
[now using fastboost to boot up SWD recovery, and then load cyanogenmod from there. will update with results]
[couldn't flash on cyanmod, some sort of assert failure... this is not going well at all]
Theory:
It could have something to do with the newest firmware update from sony? (might be UK only)
Either way, Everywhere I search seems to have a different solution, any chance anyone here has some clear and better advice? I'd like to get Cyanogenmod running, but if not then just returning back to the default firmware would be good enough.
I'll keep working at this and update as I find solutions. Eventually update this into a thread explaining how to fix the problem.
[EDIT: another useful thing might be to figure out what the source of the problem is, so we can tag/fix those instructions that might cause this]
Check the BaseBand version if it is "unknown", if it is, u need to flash your phone again
Same thing has happened to me , after unlocking boot loader and then rooting.
I no signal , (no service) message , also baseband is unkown , I have flashed a few uk roms and no good
Keeps saying insert sim card , i have tried o2 and tmobile , just the same.
EDIT : MANGED TO FIX MY PROBLEM, FLASHED THE FIRMWARE FROM THE THREAD BELOW.

[Q] Error searching for network

EDIT: Fixed. I had already tried flashing updated stock roms before flashing CM9 and it didn't seem to help but I tried a few more, and the one called "R800_4.0.2.A.0.79.ftf" fixed it. After that I wiped everything, installed cm9 again and now it gets a signal
original post:
I installed CM9 on my Xperia Play and now it doesn't properly detect the SIM card. It says "No service" and when searching for available networks it gives an unhelpful message "error searching for network". If I try to add the APN manually it gets ignored.
I've seen other people with this problem but every solution I've found has been things I've already done, or broken links.
I updated my baseband using Flashtool but it didn't help and in fact the phone seems more sluggish now after doing that.
The SIM works fine in another phone. These are all unlocked devices.

Help! No network after flashing stock rom on xperia S

Well... I've got an Xperia S with Cianogenmod 10 installed. But i decided to go back to stock rom, so i flashed it with flashtools this firmware: LT26i_6.2.B.1.96_World. Everything seems to be ok when i did it. But when i turn on the device it asks me the pin code entering the system without problems. But it doesn't connect to the Vodafone network and i can't call or recieve them...
i have to say that my phone comes from movistar and it was liberated to use it with other companies. and then they have installed cianogenmod10.
I didn't like it at all so i went back to stockrom as i told before, but with this problem: if you get into the menu: #*#*4636*#*# and i try to select the euroband it only appears USA Band. I've already flashed an european baseband with no results!! Does anybody knows what to do?? Thanks!!
Your TA-partition probably got deranged by a bug in Flashtools. Same happened with mine, and since I didn't have a backup of the TA I now only use it at home for streaming music. I wasn't gay when I found out!

ZA2 Modem Problem

Hi everyone,
I´ve just installed LineageOS with some problems.
Nearls everything works fine. This OS is great. But...
I can´t use the telefon app because ist says "kein dienst verfügbar" what means
no service by vodafone availble. flight mode is off. WIFI works propperly.
SIM Card Data was read properly. I can see the right data and settings e.g. APN; provider and so.
Basebandversion: 1311-2845_50.2.A.3.22
ROM Version: H3113_Customized DE_1312-2606_50.2.A.3.77_R1B (installation by newflasher)
lineageOS: lineage-17.1-20200903-nightly-pioneer-signed
Had to Install this version of ROM because the Installation of TWARP or LineageOS Recovery failed originally. (no flashing on boot _a, can´t find partition size).
After that Installing TWARP aund LineageOS worked fine. .. exept Modem
i´ve reinstalled those files of the rom above.
modem_X-FLASH-ALL-18AE.sin
modemst1_X-FLASH-ALL-18AE.sin
modemst2_X-FLASH-ALL-18AE.sin
have been flashed twice, but no success.
Has anyone a idea what to do?
Found something: the telephone number is not shown in the SIM readings. APN and provider is ok.
Maybe that´s not a modem issue but a problem with reading the SIM. SIM is ok and works fine in other phones.
Other SIM tested, similar result. No reading of the telefonenumber.
Tested telefonining over WiFi. Doesn´t work either.
Flash stock firmware see if the problem is fixed. And check if phone IMEI is showing.
Good Luck
Edit:
Maybe https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=80469769this is your solution?
