google wallet not showing? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a yakjuux (Canada) phone 4.0.2. Today i flashed it to takju (for the wallet) i also flashed the base band and everything, then updated to jelly bean over the air, but Google wallet is not showing in the app drawer. why is that?

Because Google Wallet isn't supported in Canada.

It's disabled by default. You can use Titanium Backup to "unfreeze" it. (I think there is a way to do it without TB as well iirc).

Thanks for the help. Do you know a root free way to enable wallet? I'm on takju so its pre built in the ROM

i just noticed the same issue with google wallet not showing. it IS installed in system/apps and I have also made a few transactions as well, but all of a sudden, it disappeared from the app drawer.

[Q] Some apps not showing - weird problem with web/phone based Market

OK here goes ...
I got a Galaxy Nexus on a new plan with Vodafone Australia and passed on my Desire HD to my Mrs.
The G Nexus came with 4.0.1 installed.
I havent rooted the GNex, but the DHD is rooted and running English version of MIUI from miuiandroid.com.
Cut back to yesterday, when I tried to install an app from Market on my GNex. Its called "My Vodafone" and is published by Vodafone Australia. It didnt come up when searched on Market app on my GNex.
Then I tried to search for the app on my wife's DHD. Same thing doesnt show up. She's with Vodafone as well. I know the apps there on Market because ppl have installed it.
Even more surprising is that a friend of mine who is with a different provider (Optus) can see the app in his Market app on his GNex !!!!!!!!!!!
Then I try to get it via the web based market.android.com.
Logged in, searched for the app, but again it says its not compatible.
What could be wrong ?
Is it the phone/ICS/carrier that is causing this to happen ?
Apart from this I am getting turned off by this fragmentated, rugged experience of using Android. ICS was supposed to be more polished than ever !
But sadly, it hasn't lived upto its mark for me..
I have had other issues with the GNex/ICS but this one is the worst one so far.
What can I do to install this and other apps which are showing on my friends GNex, but not on mine
The developer must update the app to show its compatible (in the market) with ICS.
I would pull the .apk with titanium backup from your wifes phone and side load it to your phone.

Its not that straight forward. The app is showing on my friends GNex which also runs on ICS !!!!!!

Google play music & movies no longer in market?

I am running stock ICS yakju build and I no longer see Google play music or movies in the market. Does anyone else in Canada or other regions see this. Seems weird for pre installed apps to no longer show. Especially for updating purposes.
Yes, I cleared cache and data etc...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I've pulled them from AOKP M4 for you.
I can still see Google Play Music in the Market but not if I do a regular search for it. I can find it under My Apps>All. It says that there is an update (v4.1.513) but when I try to apply the update it says "Update for Google Play Music could not be downloaded due to an error (940)". My installed version is v4.0.1.501. Running 4.0.1 yakjuux.
Still there for me on the LTE version. Running Codename Android 1.5.5 and Google Play 3.4.7.

In that case I would guess that the newest version is only compatible with 4.0.3 or higher. I presume OP is on 4.0.2, so my guess is that Google is blocking the new music app for incomparable ICS versions. Probably still works anyway if anyone so chooses to install the apk, just not tested fully.
I not that I don't have the newest version, its that it is no longer in my apps list, so when a new update comes out, it wont be in the market for me and presumably other canadians.
Can other people in Canada or anywhere outside the US check to see if it is still in their market?

Just installed Wallet on GSM Nexus, no tricks

So I read that Google Wallet is coming pre-installed on the Galaxy Nexus phones on the Play store. So I went ahead and searched for Wallet on the Play Store and it was finally able to install. Looks like whatever was blocking it before has been lifted.

Yup. I just did the same. I'm on the latest build of ICS, if that matters.

What's new in 4.1.2?

Can you guys post the new feature you found in 4.1.2? Currently I flashed the takju 4.1.2 factory image, and I think it's almost the same as 4.1.1
Features/Bugfixs found from replies
1. One finger swipe to expand rich notifications. (boyzzykid)
2. Moving the Location settings out of the old settings to it's own settings page. (boyzzykid)
3. 4.1.2 build does not contain either the /system/recovery-from-boot.p or /system/etc/install-recovery.sh, so it will not automatically install the stock recovery upon reboot. (Palaryel)
4. There is a new language selection screen (when you enter your phone for the first time - fresh install). (Joplisan)

One finger swipe to expand rich notifications and moving the Location settings out of the old settings to it's own settings page. That's pretty much it for GN users other than translation fixes and minor changes.
I've had to install 4.1.2 from the stock images from google sinceI ****ed up some things in my 4.1.1. rom that i couldnt fix that easily...anyway, ive noticed that the 4.1.2 build does not contain either the /system/recovery-from-boot.p or /system/etc/install-recovery.sh, so it will not automatically install the stock recovery upon reboot
*please ignore*
well it's good to get an update for the Galaxy Nexus but I'm a bit sad that I don't see any major feature changes...
- No new version of GMail with swipe actions and pinch to zoom (guess it will come later as an update in Play)
- Still can't connect to my 5Ghz Wifi (but it used to work in the past)
- Google Voice Search still crashes presenting results (but it used to work in the past as well)..

You realize that's a leaked version of GMail coming with a new version of Android, right? I don't see how you can be disappointed that a 4.1.x update doesn't include a new GMail that no one was supposed to see in the first place...

It is possible to add Facebook account for sync now, But I don't see any contacts from Facebook in the phone.

Oh I thought it had been leaked ahead of the 4.1.2 release, and not that it didn't belong to the 4.1.2 release

well could be something with the specifics of my 5Ghz wireless but I've seen other people with the same problem. It worked when I got the phone in the beginning but I think it stopped working after Android 4.1.1

yeah I've read people reporting the crash and how you had to deactivate some of the search "domains" of the Google Voice Search for it to work however it didn't work for me. I guess I could do a factory reset with 4.1.2 and see if all these problems go away

No issues on 4.1.2 connecting to my 5 GHz wireless, just throwing that out there.
I noticed that there is a new language selection screen (when you enter your phone for the first time - fresh install). So, that's a small change for 4.1.2 as well, I guess.

People have been saying this after every update for the last year. It's not new And contact sync is not coming because of the spat with Google and Facebook.

And if it does come it will come with a Facebook update. Android supports syncing fine already, it's Facebook that doesn't support it.
The webbrowser has improved alot when viewing flash content. It loads up almost instantly. Web pages also load faster now. My nexus beats the S3 and the iPhone 5 on web browsing (my own test on 100MB fiber optics internet).
I am at 1.5Ghz (The frequency our chip was disgned to run at) and it is beating the S3 and the iPhone 5 (s3 was on Android 4.0.4, 4.1.1 update is not out yet for the S3 in Holland....)

[Q] running kitkat 4.4.3 CM11, but no tap to pay on google wallet?

i thought google was allowing google wallet "tap and pay" on all NFC-enabled devices running kitkat. well, my note 2 (at&t of course), is rooted, running CM11 kitkat, with google wallet installed, and i can't seem to find any evidence at all that "tap and pay" available anywhere in the google wallet app.
little help?

It works on ota 4.4.2
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
just flashed 4.4.4 (liquid smooth) to my sgh-i317 and? nada... no tap and pay for google wallet. anyone know how to get this working?
-peter
I'm a bit stunned that xda developers has so little knowledge about this...
So now I unrooted and went back to total stock, with at&t's latest 4.4.2. And tap and pay is up and working.
Back to my question...
I thought tap and pay was supposed to work with all kit Kat phones. Yet it doesn't seem to work with aosp kit kat roms, (at least the ones I've tried). Is that right?
-Peter
1. Do these roms have an option in settings or notify bar to turn NFC on? Does the NFC icon then show up on the status bar?
2. Have you installed Google Wallet app from Play store and configured to enable tap & pay?
If you answered yes to all questions and tap & pay still doesn't work, check out this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448712
It's for 4.3 but there may be some things in there to try .... ymmv
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Your questions in order:
1) CM11 had a "turn on tap and pay", setting. It did nothing. I frankly forgot to check of Liquid Smooth had it. It was a VERY nice 4.4.4 AOSP rom. For sure, Google Wallet tap and pay was not only not working, it was not even available. There was no NFC logo that appeared.
2) yes, I've only ever installed GW from the play store. And what I finally found out when I got tap and pay working on the stock unrooted att 4.4.2 rom was that Google wallet did not even offer the option to set up tap and pay in the 4.4.4 aosp roms. In fact, it was not even showing as grayed out. It was not even mentioned at all. If you were not a savvy smart phone type, you'd never even know gw ever offered tap amd pay or that such a thing even existed. But now with this new stock rom, it just shows up in gw and was easy peasy to configure.
Thanks for pitching in. It has partly renewed my faith in xda. Googljng outside xda I have seen slivers of evidence that aosp roms need patches to do hce, or at least the 4.3 ones do.
