Google play music & movies no longer in market? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I am running stock ICS yakju build and I no longer see Google play music or movies in the market. Does anyone else in Canada or other regions see this. Seems weird for pre installed apps to no longer show. Especially for updating purposes.
Yes, I cleared cache and data etc...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA

I've pulled them from AOKP M4 for you.

I can still see Google Play Music in the Market but not if I do a regular search for it. I can find it under My Apps>All. It says that there is an update (v4.1.513) but when I try to apply the update it says "Update for Google Play Music could not be downloaded due to an error (940)". My installed version is v4.0.1.501. Running 4.0.1 yakjuux.

Still there for me on the LTE version. Running Codename Android 1.5.5 and Google Play 3.4.7.

In that case I would guess that the newest version is only compatible with 4.0.3 or higher. I presume OP is on 4.0.2, so my guess is that Google is blocking the new music app for incomparable ICS versions. Probably still works anyway if anyone so chooses to install the apk, just not tested fully.

I not that I don't have the newest version, its that it is no longer in my apps list, so when a new update comes out, it wont be in the market for me and presumably other canadians.
Can other people in Canada or anywhere outside the US check to see if it is still in their market?

Oh and the Google wallet trick of opening in the phone browser then selecting market app doesn't work either. Just days item can't be found
It should be compatible. I have MLB at bat lite working on my nexus.

Must be because i am running 4.0.4? Had to shoe horn it in cause market days incompatible. Are you running stock?
Can you explain how you got it to install on 4.0.4? Did you buy it and then some how side load it?
I just installed the lite version on my stock GN through the web based market (market.android.com)

I made a titanium backup on My eris, then transferred the files over and restored them. Prolly an easier way, but it worked. Market doesn't recognize it tho, so won't be able to update. Gonna try a different ROM

That sounds like the culprit. I'm on 4.0.3 and no problems here.
Having this issue as well, on my Galaxy S II. I'm on a leaked ICS rom... this might be the reason lol.
Tip, downgraded from 404 to 403 and installs from market fine.

[Q] Google Play Store app on A100?

I have two Acer tablets, an Iconia A100 and Iconia A500. Both came with the Android Market app installed. When the Google Play Store app became available last month, my Acer Iconia A500 tablet automatically installed the new app.
My Acer Iconia A100 still has the Android Market app; it never updated to the Google Play Store app. I have the latest stock operating system (Android 3.2, Build Acer_A100_1.018.05_COM_GEN2). Google tells me that Acer is responsible for pushing the Google Play Store app to the tablet.
Have any of you in the U.S. received an automatic update to the Google Play Store app on your A100? If so, approximately how long ago? I'm fine with keeping the Android Market app, but will it work okay with Ice Cream Sandwich once that's pushed later this month?
Thanks for your assistance!
The only difference I can discern between my "Market" app and the "Play" App is the icon.

Only thing different is the name...on 3.2.1 it will automatically update once you click on the android market icon...the process is less than 10 seconds...maybe you should upgrade to 3.2.1?
Thanks for your responses!

When I go to "About Tablet" and click on "System Update," it tells me "Your device is up to date." How do I get 3.2.1 on my A100? I'm not very Android-savvy beyond the basics and I don't want to mess up the tablet!
The only thing different is the name. You are better off waiting for the ICS update next week then messing with trying to get the 3.2.1 update.

I'm actually fine with the Android Market app. My only concern is if ICS will still be pushed to my A100 around April 27th if I'm currently running 3.2, or will 3.2.1 be required before that will happen?
My Acer Iconia A500 has 3.2.1 and I received an "Iconia Tab Update Enhancement" on that tablet earlier this month (which I understand is for the A500/501 only, in preparation for ICS). Nothing like that has come through on my A100, and I'm wondering if it's because I don't have 3.2.1.
I rather have my icon say Google Market rather that Play. The latter seems a little corny to me.

After starting this thread, I sent an email to Acer. I told them that my A100 has Android 3.2 and the Android Market app, and I asked if it will be necessary to update to 3.2.1 before the 4.0 upgrade next week.
In part, here is their reply:
I have verified your product serial number and found that the unit is covered under the standard limited warranty.
I suggest you to wait for few days as the new version of the operating system would be installed on your system sooner or later.
If you are not getting the new operating system, then you can for sure contact us back again.

Very vague. Well, a few hours after receiving their reply, my Android Market app was updated to Google Play, and I received notification of several app updates. My A100 has not been updated to 3.2.1, however. When I check on the device it still says "Your device is up to date."
The tech support person did not answer my question as to whether it's essential to have 3.2.1 before the tablet can update to 4.0. Does anyone here know? Also, how long ago did you receive the 3.2.1 update? Was it months ago or more recently?
Maybe he doesn't know. The 3.2.1 update is suppose to fix some issues with the headphones (from what I've read). PS: Version 3.2.1 was released quite a while ago.
Thanks for your reply, dansul. I did a Google search and learned that 3.2.1 was sent out to the U.S. in January. I also found some forum posts saying that Build GEN2 (the version I have) didn't get 3.2.1.
I'll just wait and see if 4.0 comes to my A100. If I don't see it by early May then I'll contact Acer.

On my Nexus YouTube was preinstalled.. which rom have you got? Normally you should be able to download youtube from the play store... or maybe it is country-specific?
Jellybean from this link has YouTube preinstalled:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849
YouTube works fine, what I did:
I COPIED THE YOUTUBE.APK FROM MY BACKUP DATA.TAR AND I INSTALLED IT TO MY NEXUS, IT LOOKS DIFFERENT
Here is the Youtube.apk if someone needs it: http://ge.tt/5sdaPnJ/v/0 <--- I'm using it and it works perfectly..
Still though, it's strange that the Play Store says YouTube is not compatible. I'm hoping this get ironed out soon...I like to convert as many system apps as possible into Play Store user apps. This also means you cannot manage YouTube from the web interface on other devices. Same deal with Google Wallet btw.

This is because you are running an OS that is not yet released. Same problem when ICS first came out. We just need to wait until devs update their apps to support Android 4.1

Compatibility errors in Google Play Store with custom ROMs?

Has anyone else had issues with custom ROMs on the toroplus and downloading some apps from Google Play?
There are a couple of apps that the Play store insists are incompatible with my JellyBeaned toroplus, but which the developer insists should work fine (and have verified toroplus in the developer console of the store).
Example:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pepinonline.pjstreamer
Play insists that app is not compatible.
Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is that because I'm rooted and running a custom ROM Google Play isn't picking up my device properly. I've verified build.prop values and everything is as it should be (I think) as far as model and device values.

This happened to me on [ROM]|Purely AOSP|JB|Simple, Stock, Stable and Bugless...wouldn't let me get some apps. Ditched it cause of that. I haven't had any issues on Dreams and Shabby's ROM. Wrong place to post this thread though....
@Keegan99
I'm running Purely AOSP JB and have no issue installing your example app. Is there another example you want me to try ?

Why is it in development?
If you read forum rules you would know development is for developers to make threads

Now that this is in the proper forum... yes, I've had the issue with JellyBelly. I'm using JellyBro right now (for other reasons) without that same issue.

Adobe have stated that after this date flash will not be downloadable from the play store for devices that ARE NOT natively supported (meaning it doesn't have a plugin libs in /system/lib/plugins/ in the unedited stock rom).
Those that are, flash will still downloadable through the market (though no longer updated).
Flash already installed on devices will continute to operate and will not magically shut off after this date.

Who needs flash? I'm not using and the only difference between having flash player installed or not is the amount of advertisements you see on a webpage. As long as you don't player flash games through your browser there won't be any need for it.

Lucky you, there are several websites that don't have an optmized mobile page/html 5, and all info / website is in flash... I'm more than happy to be able to navigate in such sites, even if it is clumsy, unoptmized, laggy... At least I can see the info I need whenever I need, even if not perfect...
While most people won't hit such web sites often, it is possible, specially whenever you are on the road, have the phone with you, and the info you need is in that god damned flash page... I just can't remember how many times my sister called me telling she was en route to some place, trying to get info from another place, and couldn't because the page won't load on her phone, asking me to check the information for her.... :victory: I probably could live without flash, I probably could also live without a smartphone and not checking the web while on the streets, but, if I can do that and that saves me precisous time, I'm more than willing to not part with Flash Player... I just use it with plugins on-demand setting and that work very fine for me.
I recently bought a Nexus 7, which doesn't come with the Android browser, only Chrome which doesn't run Flash. I uploaded the Flash player that was installed my Galaxy Nexus phone to Dropbox, then installed it on my Nexus 7. Several 3rd party browsers can run Flash on the Nexus 7, I choose Firefox. Now I can still run Flash infested sites even though Android 4.1.1 wasn't supposed to have it. This gives me hope that Flash will continue to be available on our GNex as well.
Flash works fine on a Stock (OTA updated from ICS) gnexus running JB 4.1.1 if you sideload the apk, it has the same old flash problems (buggy in places, bit of a cpu hog) but it works.
Basically that adobe link says that they will flip the switch and only allow people who have it installed, to get updates, nothing about deleting it from your phone
tl;dr sideload it until it breaks due to changes in android.
Flash is needed for the bbc iplayer apps.
Just checked on my 2nd GN (stock jb 4.1.1) and the adobe flash app and bbc iplayer is not showing in the store. Though it is installed and working fine on my main GN which is identical but i had flash and iplayer installed before i updated to jb.
Neither are available for my nexus 7.

I'm pretty sure the BBC have HTML5 streams for iOS devices, they just need to pull their thumbs out and update the app
Indeed, maybe this is google giving them a good kick up the arse!
