Hey guys,
So I have a freshly rooted Arc S LT18i running ics 4.1.b.0.431
My question is, what kernel is recommended for this setup?
I'm pretty happy with the arc s as it is, I want to get rid of all the bloatware and I might try underclocking/overclocking, and possibly chuck a rom on it later on, so I'm looking for a kernel that will give me overclocking capability with keeping the current setup...
Thanks!

guys,,i really need your help i got a sony ericson xperia arc s upgraded to ICS 4.0.4, i followed all the instructions provided by sony support before upgrading,i can say the process was very smooth and done successfully but when i played deadspace, shadow gun, riptidegp and n.o.v.a 3 ,it crashes or forced close, even the very simple apps like dictionaries crashes/stucked. sometimes i need to remove the battery just to reboot my phone so i can use it again, these games works perfectly when i still have the gingerbread os..by the way i use pc companion for upgrading..i really don't know what to do i wish i didn't upgrade my phone to ICS...it makes my phone a crap! can somebody help me regarding this?any helpful advice will be appreciated..thanks!!
dude i really recommended you to flash a custom 4.0.4 kernel..and you will definitely see the difference..well gaming is not tat good on ICS..but some custom kernel makes games fly on ICS..check them out..
first i would advice you to try arconium 4.0 as it is the best custom stock ROM

just flash arconium..it is pre-rooted..if you want even better performance then flash custom kernel too..Xarc and ArcKnight are equally good

If you're planning on ICS rom your best bet would be Arconium 4.0 and trinity kernel for speed, this is the best combination I have found. If you want to stay on gingerbread the best rom I have found is Mokee OS, So fast and fluid and brilliant UI.
yeh im planning on going to ICS, right now i have CM7.2 on GB thanks man

Totally wrong combination
Sent from my LT15i using Tapatalk 2
I have tried all the available kernels and i always go back to stock kernel
it is the best kernel if you dont overclock and yea arconium 4.0 is the best
so i can use arconium 4.0 with stock kernel? since i dont overclock, but do i have to download the stock kernel or?
ofcourse u can use stock kernel with arconium..btr use stock kernel with cwm..
this might sound like a bad question but, is their a certain type of stock kernel for arconium 4.0? and if so could i have link for that stock kernel
here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680793

How is it a totally wrong combination? It is compatible in every way, there are many far worse combinations. I was merely stating that this is what I believe is the fastest ICS combination. It is my personal opinion, and to be honest your comment was totally pointless and of no help whatsoever.
thanks man
Hello Guys,
I've visited this great forum for a long time but i couldn't find what i'm looking for, then sorry if it's a noob question or a question that was already answared in other thread.
Currently I'm using the stock ICS 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.431) on my Xperia ARC LT15i with unlocked bootloader and thinking about overclock it, however, as I said above, I couldn't find a custom kernel that gives me that possibility.
I've researched about DoomLord, Mesa and other ones but I only see custom works for ARC S (LT18) and using ICS 4.0.3.
In case of anybody knows some good kernel for LT15 running ICS 4.0.4 I'd really apreciate if could tell me more about or indicate any research's source.
Thank you folks and sorry if this question is inappropriate.
Regards.

My friend has been using DooMKernel since May and he says that overclocking has been kind of spotty. Sometimes the phone gets really hot and unstable but for the most part is pretty stable.
Hey all,
I've just bought one of these and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
In the meantime, I'm looking for custom ROMs and kernels to use but there are just so many.
The reason I bought one is because I bricked my previous phone. I'm currently using a really old phone and intend to use the Arc as soon as I get it and I probably won't have a lot of time to do testing of my own.
What I'm looking for is a really stable ROM that has good performance and very little bloat installed. As for the kernel, whatever people think is the best will do. I probably won't be overclocking the phone (most likely underclocking) as the main thing I want from my phone is good battery life.
Thanks for any input!
jjHybrid Rom 3.2 and Arcknight kernel 3.3 no overclock.

Jelly Sandwich with XArc kernel. It's [~xDevilCharged~] and during playing 3D games home screen appears blazing fast! Try it out!

There is no best.
You have to search and find yourself, what features are important and what not, what do you want to use it for and if you want GB or ICS.
There is no best for everyone.
How to Install this

So my phone arrived and it's been updated to 4.1.B.0.587.
The bootloader is locked and I want to keep it that way just because I don't want to mess anything up.
I was wondering am I able to installed the locked bootloader version of JJ's Hybrid ROM 3.2 Stable on 4.1.B.0.587?
Thanks.
PS - I would have asked this on the development thread, but I don't have enough posts to post there.

You must root your phone using this method
Then you can proceed to JJ's Hybrid
best kernel is the stock kernel
and the best rom is the stock rom with all bloatwares manually removed, manually tweaked, manually supercharged, manually installed Mods...
install watever u want and delete watever u dont want..simple!!

Had been using MIUI (Chi Ver) for a month and then gave up.
JJ's HYBRID ROM v3.2 is good but I had to install the AnyLocale.apk and JAYS_Headset_Control.apk to make it works.
Been using Xperia Ice Cream Pureness (Build 10) with .431 then .587 for a week and love it.
Love them both because of the on screen button.
ROM
ArcKnight 3.5 kernel goes along with IC.Xperiance well. Its fast and great for beginners ! links below

JJ's and CM9, which one you would like a bit more ?
I did tried several ROMs but never the CM series before :silly:
..
If you don't care about graphical user interface ,defintely JJ hybrid rom is great (fast - compatible with games - has ROM control as well) ,few bugs though like wifi hotspot http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1537717
If you care about having nice user interface with reasonable game performance you can try Jelly sandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1836993 or the Remix http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1884958
For the Kernel i always advice to use stock kernel in order to avoid battery drain issues
