guys,,i really need your help i got a sony ericson xperia arc s upgraded to ICS 4.0.4, i followed all the instructions provided by sony support before upgrading,i can say the process was very smooth and done successfully but when i played deadspace, shadow gun, riptidegp and n.o.v.a 3 ,it crashes or forced close, even the very simple apps like dictionaries crashes/stucked. sometimes i need to remove the battery just to reboot my phone so i can use it again, these games works perfectly when i still have the gingerbread os..by the way i use pc companion for upgrading..i really don't know what to do i wish i didn't upgrade my phone to ICS...it makes my phone a crap! can somebody help me regarding this?any helpful advice will be appreciated..thanks!!
dude i really recommended you to flash a custom 4.0.4 kernel..and you will definitely see the difference..well gaming is not tat good on ICS..but some custom kernel makes games fly on ICS..check them out..
first i would advice you to try arconium 4.0 as it is the best custom stock ROM

just flash arconium..it is pre-rooted..if you want even better performance then flash custom kernel too..Xarc and ArcKnight are equally good

The same as everyone else, make your own mind up.
i just wanna know is it possible to revert back to official gb..??
or after updating ics with acustom rom can arc s have all ics features plus smooth performance??
well on icS everything is smooth except few games..if u are a hardcore gamer then btr stick with gb..or else feel free to try ics
u can always go back to GB
the whole ROM thing is kinda "YMMV" - it works great for some, but doesn't for someone else. Try some popular ROM and kernel and find out what works best.

you can definitely return back to gb if you have an unlocked bootloader. and why dont you consider installing custom kernels or roms on your phone?
Yes ICS is really cool . iam runing on ICS 4.0.4 on my ARC S.full stock. i did not unlock my bootloader yet since i just bought it recently (still have my warranty) . i suggest u go for the Jump. ICS is real smooth. Hey if u Jump u can always Fall back . u can return to GB anytime u want. its your Handset, it's your decision.with a little help from Everyone here WE can FLY UP & Down as we Wish , after all it's our wings.:silly::highfive:
Go ahead and update to ICS its smooth and good. Then dont worry about going back to GB, its very easy and YOU DONT NEED TO UNLOCK BOOT LOADER. There is a tool called flashtool you can use it and flash any Sony offical ROM on to your phone. If you want more internal memory you can root your phone and get rid of unwanted apps. A little advice, use Sony Update service to update your phone not PC Companion. When updating through SUS choose to erase all and install update. it makes the phone smooth. Just updating using PC Companion dont erase data and you will experience a some lag.

You can return to stock GB even with a locked bootloader (as I did). Just flash a SE stock GB ROM using Flashtool.
In regard to the original question, in my humble opinion, the performance drawback of ICS on Xperia Arc S and the buggy video shooting capability could not be outweighed by the advantages of ICS (which are debatable; one that stuck with me was the ability to dictate to the phone continuously, can hardly remember any other advantage at all, apart from the allegedly improved photo quality). So, in short, ICS was a pain in the ass for me, I'm back to Gingerbread and cannot believe this is the same sluggish and inoperable phone it was under ICS.
Your mileage may vary, and given that you can revert back to GB safely, it makes sense to try ICS for yourself and decide.

i need a little bit more space in internal memory... is there anyway to move apps to sd card (those cant be moved)??
and to get rid of unwanted system apps??
Root your phone. (There are plenty of threads on that already).
Get Link2SD. See it up using XperiaBlog's guide. No more issues with low memory.
Get Titanium Backup. Helps you remove even those hard to remove apps.

don't update..honest advice..I updated and returned to GB after long struggle with ICS..
Hey all,
I've just bought one of these and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
In the meantime, I'm looking for custom ROMs and kernels to use but there are just so many.
The reason I bought one is because I bricked my previous phone. I'm currently using a really old phone and intend to use the Arc as soon as I get it and I probably won't have a lot of time to do testing of my own.
What I'm looking for is a really stable ROM that has good performance and very little bloat installed. As for the kernel, whatever people think is the best will do. I probably won't be overclocking the phone (most likely underclocking) as the main thing I want from my phone is good battery life.
Thanks for any input!
jjHybrid Rom 3.2 and Arcknight kernel 3.3 no overclock.

So my phone arrived and it's been updated to 4.1.B.0.587.
The bootloader is locked and I want to keep it that way just because I don't want to mess anything up.
I was wondering am I able to installed the locked bootloader version of JJ's Hybrid ROM 3.2 Stable on 4.1.B.0.587?
Thanks.
PS - I would have asked this on the development thread, but I don't have enough posts to post there.

You must root your phone using this method
Then you can proceed to JJ's Hybrid
best kernel is the stock kernel
and the best rom is the stock rom with all bloatwares manually removed, manually tweaked, manually supercharged, manually installed Mods...
install watever u want and delete watever u dont want..simple!!

Had been using MIUI (Chi Ver) for a month and then gave up.
JJ's HYBRID ROM v3.2 is good but I had to install the AnyLocale.apk and JAYS_Headset_Control.apk to make it works.
Been using Xperia Ice Cream Pureness (Build 10) with .431 then .587 for a week and love it.
Love them both because of the on screen button.

JJ's and CM9, which one you would like a bit more ?
I did tried several ROMs but never the CM series before :silly:
..
If you don't care about graphical user interface ,defintely JJ hybrid rom is great (fast - compatible with games - has ROM control as well) ,few bugs though like wifi hotspot http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1537717
If you care about having nice user interface with reasonable game performance you can try Jelly sandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1836993 or the Remix http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1884958
For the Kernel i always advice to use stock kernel in order to avoid battery drain issues

I'm trying to go from stock android 4 to MooDeD JB-ICS 1.0.2 on my lt18a arc s

If yes what does it differ by from the stock one
Thanks alot for any help )

is this rom compatible with my lt18a and is it better than the stcok android 4
i dont have an idea of the rom u have linked up, but if you want any recommended rom in XDA dev section go for JJ hybrid or Xperia pureness rom or jelly sandwich its becuase its supported here and you can find all support you need int respective rom threads.
speaking of diffrences from your stock rom these are higly tweaked more fast and stable roms . just go through the OP of each rom for thier features and you will know what im saying.
and if your bootloader is unlocked use LUpus or Archnight kernels with these roms to tweak battery and performance or ur arc s.

i agree with u but i love Jellybean ( original , not combo between Jelly and ICS).
Any ROM with Paranoid settings which allow you to set dpi for single apps is awesome. I have compiled paranoid android 2.55 and put link in thread in dev section of you wanna try. Camps is also pretty awesome but my phone got really sluggish with that so I use regular PA.

If You are looking for GB based Roms then X-Gamer v1.6, this will give you an Internal Mem of 355MB, and RAM of nearly 240MB after installation and its stable too. If ICS based Roms then JelleySandwich 7.4. its stable (by stable i mean after installation everything works).
The above Roms i have tested it on LT15i with LB though.
