I dropped my phone and shattered the screen. Everything still works fine, but obviously the cracks are obnoxious.
It is my understanding that you really have to replace the AMOLED/Digitizer/Glass at once since it is nearly impossible to separate the glass from the assembly without destroying it.
So my question to those of you who have replaced yours, where is the best place to get the screen assembly? What is a fair price?
I was going to file a claim against the insurance until I saw that the deductible was $130. Used phones can often be had at that price or less, so I think I need to ditch the insurance.
Any advice is appreciated.
another question...
is the screen assembly from the T959V interchangeable with the screen assembly from the Vibrant?
The screen assembly is going to be around $100-115, might as well get a new one through the deductible.

I have been looking, but the only response I got to one was some bs about buying from some obscure auction site. Seems to be a shortage of used Vibrants here in OKC.

Sadly due to some personal issues I will no longer be able to take orders.
I do however have some parts left mainly S4 stuff. It's been great doing business here and props to the mods for letting me do so.
I will fill any remaining orders I have pending then sell my stocked items.
I'll still be here on xda just on the HTC One forums. Thank you all for your business

Hahahahaha! Funny. I think they mainly buy organs, though, which would be comparable to motherboards. Just looking to sell faces, backs and arms. ;p
No one ever seems to go to the market . I have my small inventory of parts here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868947
I need a replacement screen. Please let me know what you are selling them for because I recently shattered mine.

Okay so currently my sales are kinda slow. So for a short while I will donate $5 to anyone who refers a sale to me over $50. Once I receive payment from the buyer i will pay the person who referred the sale. The buyer must mention who referred as well. I will also give the buyer a $5 discount on their purchase.

Yeah, I just prefer to ship it on my own time instead of having to meet up. I think it's just no one really goes to the market place. I've gotten way more views on this thread than any one that I've posted in the marketplace.
I've got parts for the epic 4G Touch, Galaxy SIII and the HTC EVO 4G LTE all OEM, all in working order.
Epic 4G Touch parts:
2 white screens - $50/ea
3 white housings - $20/ea
1 black housing - $20
2 black battery covers - $10/ea
3 white battery covers - $10/ea
1 battery - $20
Galaxy SIII
2 white battery covers - $10/ea
1 battery - $20
HTC EVO 4G LTE parts:
1 black screen - $80
4 black housings - $20/ea
8 black tops - $20/ea
3 batteries - $20/ea
Pm me if you're serious about buying. I cover shipping so all these prices are what you'd be paying. I do not cover return shipping.

Is where I keep my inventory updated.

Be careful about buying a cheaper display from some 3rd party store that ships out of Hong Kong. It might end up being a low end LCD instead of the replacement AMOLED. I bought mine off ebay for 220 shipped. I'd rather pay a little more than end up with a crappy display. At that point minas well just throw it away.

The phone retails for $600 (for the 16gb version). The display is 50% of the phone. $240 is not highway robbery if you break it down. I'll admit, as I've had to replace mine, that if FEELS like highway robbery but your buying one of the more essential parts of the Phone. You can do without the wifi, the bluetooth, headphone jack, speaker phone, maybe a button or 2. But you HAVE to have the high end display.

Yes I understand that most parts are made in China. I simply mean that parts from China can also be the other end of the spectrum, low end. You have to be careful who you buy from. Make sure it's a reputable company selling genuin parts. Buying through Ebay give's buyers protection from fake products. Buying from Tmart does not.
And, yes, there are low end crap replacement screens out there. When my son decided to "test" his 3GS otterbox with his other friend and the display quit working once the phone hit the ground I opted for a cheap replacement. He really didn't care as long as it still worked, plus he's lucky I fixed it at all and didn't give him my 7 year old moto flip as punishment. That display came from a Hong-Kong retailer, but I knew what I was buying from them.

**EDIT**
i asked a samsung live chat guy, he said that the lcd and digitizer are the same throughout all models, the difference is in the frame. i found other posts here backing that up **
**EDIT 2**
just called samsung, only cost 135.31 after shipping!!! thats a total of only 135.31!!! whats the point of accidental warranty???

dont replace just the screen..it can be done but you risk the chance of dust getting between the lcd and glass which will drive you crazy.
get the lcd/digitizer replacement..usually around $150-260 and swap it yourself..i did mine and it was pretty easy
What a an lcd digitizer? Lol, sorry i don't really know much about this yet.

I got my gn2 at best buy and pay 11$ a month for insurance... I'm happy to pay that cause i usually drop my phone every month or so and just take it there and get a loaner phone for bout 3days and then I get a refurbished gn2.. In the last 2years I've dropped, water damage and bricked over 10-12 phones and just gotta wait a few days for a refurbished one
Radio Shack does it for about $80 but you are without the phone for a few days.

Hello there
A few days ago I was using the public transport when my Note II fell on the ground. When my girlfriend asked if it was broken, I replied that the Note II was unbreakable. When I picked it up my screen was broken (karma hits player 1 for one million thousand trillion points). I mailed to the store I bought it from and they told me it would cost 250 euro's.
I'm wondering whether this is a normal price for a screen replacement.
Thank you for the replies!
Stores always want to rip you off! I have seen issues about screen on the galaxy s3 which obviously is different but almost the same. The glass can be bought for under $10 online and there are plenty of YouTube videos with instructions on how to do change it yourself. So to answer your question yes I think $250 is wayyyyy too much
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
If it were me, I'd attempt to fix it myself, after reading up extensively and making sure I had the right tools.
Only you can contemplate whether it's worth it for you, watch some YouTube and make a decision

The alternative is getting it fixed in a local 'foreign' shop here in my city. Not entirely reliable, but I have little to lose.

Did you ask if they were going to change just the front glass or the whole display such as glass+ digitizer+amoled? Because if it's just the glass then it would be a major rip off! It's not that simple to just change the glass since it glued with an adhesive and you'll need to be very careful when removing it.

I'd do some research before running to pay. These companies tell us w/e they want in hopes of making more money off customers
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
First of all. If the screen is scratched or broken but still works it means than the screen is not damaged. Only upper glass over screen is broken and you can buy one from ebay for 20$ and replace yourself by video tutorial on youtube. Anyway if you fail to repar it yourself you can anytime go and replace whole screen for 250 eur. But I think its worth to try to repair upper glass only if screen is still responding after damage.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
You should try eBay. I see lots of people selling broken things for parts. Make sure you describe what's wrong with it in the product info.
They both have cracked LCDs from failed front glass replacement attempts not sure what I should ask for them on there everything else on them works flawlessly just can't afford the digitizer replacement
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I guess you should put them up for bidding and set the starting price to like $30 and it will go up from there.
Place to sell yer used phone...
I heard of those kiosks in the mall where you can sell your phone even if the screen is black. I sold mine to bumblebee wireless in the west covina mall. still got like $90 out a phone that you couldn't even see the screen. cash is always nice!
EBay would be your best bet.
