Hi guys. I recently dropped my phone and the screen has a line across the top of the phone. What do you recommend? Is there a place I can get a legit screen replacement for a cheap price? Thanks in advance!

dont replace just the screen..it can be done but you risk the chance of dust getting between the lcd and glass which will drive you crazy.
get the lcd/digitizer replacement..usually around $150-260 and swap it yourself..i did mine and it was pretty easy
What a an lcd digitizer? Lol, sorry i don't really know much about this yet.

I got my gn2 at best buy and pay 11$ a month for insurance... I'm happy to pay that cause i usually drop my phone every month or so and just take it there and get a loaner phone for bout 3days and then I get a refurbished gn2.. In the last 2years I've dropped, water damage and bricked over 10-12 phones and just gotta wait a few days for a refurbished one
Radio Shack does it for about $80 but you are without the phone for a few days.

The glass on my T989 have had scratches for the last month. It hasn't gotten worse, but I really want to get it fixed, because its starting to really get to me. I'm weighing my options, it seems it would be too costly, and I plan on rather spending money on getting a SG3 at full retail. Should I repair this, and sell it, or sell it as is on craigs list? What would be the most cost effective way? I notice there are OEM original glass replacements on ebay for like 10-15 dollars but don't know how to replace it myself. How much would it be to get a professional to do it? What price would I be able to sell it at on craigslist just to sell it as is? I'm not sure what I should do, any suggestions would help. Theres like 6 hair thin crack lines spread in a circular pattern about 2 cm apart on the top half of the screen. Any suggestions appreciated thanks!
I have never tried it myself but I have heard that replacing the screen on most phones is not too difficult.

I dunno this one seems pretty darn hard. My Hd2 was a b**** since it needed soldering so instead of trying I just sold it
Ive been meaning to post up a tutorial but I did it for myself...it was simple but Replacing the screen on this phone for some scratches is not the best option though as its an expensive screen
Btw the screen and the digitizer are one peice... Or at least very well glued together
Isnt there some type of 'scratch filler' thing that you rub into the scratches?
Try on of these ideas

Cellulardr.com
They can fix it, they handle my phone's screen and USB port in about a week.

Are they scratches or cracks? Big difference.
I had a few thin, semi-deep scratches on my screen a while back. I put a dab of white, semi-gritty toothpaste on the scratches themselves, and buffed it into the scratches with a dry towel corner until all residue was gone, then repeated. Did it about 4-5 times and lines were almost entirely buffed out. Can no longer feel lines and can only see when looking extremely close for them. Phone smelled good to boot! Haha!
Cracks... that's a whole another issue.
Best,
AP

Phone was plugged into my laptop and I was using it while I sat on the floor and the laptop was on my nightstand... I got up to close the laptop lid and it fell...unfortunately the corner of the laptop hit the screen... I spent 175 for the replacement screen and fixed it myself

Holy crap $175?! I'm assuming you didn't have insurance? The deductible is only $130.

Replacing the screen is very easy. There are tutorials online to follow. I've replaced my screen once, I think anyone can do it. Don't pay someone to do it.

Dropped my T989 the other day and finally the glass broke. So should I spend the $130 to insurance swap it or the $200/250 to upgrade it?
Both

If it were me I would consider my budget. If you can afford the extra 80-130 bucks then by all me as upgrade.

Depends on how much you liked your SGS-2. If you've got the upgrade credit, I'd use it for the SGS-3. And BE SURE to get insurance for it. That thing's more fragile than the SGS-2.

OMG... I dropped my Device yesterday for the first time on my ceramic tile floor and the back cover flew off and it was face down. I can barely get the back off when I try it's attached so good. I was freaking out when I picked it up.
Luck was on my side because it left a tiny scratch on the corner where it hit the floor and nothing else, but man it must of hit with some force to fling off the back cover.
I love this device, but I say go with the upgrade if you can only do one.

Hello there
A few days ago I was using the public transport when my Note II fell on the ground. When my girlfriend asked if it was broken, I replied that the Note II was unbreakable. When I picked it up my screen was broken (karma hits player 1 for one million thousand trillion points). I mailed to the store I bought it from and they told me it would cost 250 euro's.
I'm wondering whether this is a normal price for a screen replacement.
Thank you for the replies!
Stores always want to rip you off! I have seen issues about screen on the galaxy s3 which obviously is different but almost the same. The glass can be bought for under $10 online and there are plenty of YouTube videos with instructions on how to do change it yourself. So to answer your question yes I think $250 is wayyyyy too much

If it were me, I'd attempt to fix it myself, after reading up extensively and making sure I had the right tools.
Only you can contemplate whether it's worth it for you, watch some YouTube and make a decision

The alternative is getting it fixed in a local 'foreign' shop here in my city. Not entirely reliable, but I have little to lose.

Did you ask if they were going to change just the front glass or the whole display such as glass+ digitizer+amoled? Because if it's just the glass then it would be a major rip off! It's not that simple to just change the glass since it glued with an adhesive and you'll need to be very careful when removing it.

Well they said they had to replace everything, which probably explains the hefty price tag.

I'd do some research before running to pay. These companies tell us w/e they want in hopes of making more money off customers

First of all. If the screen is scratched or broken but still works it means than the screen is not damaged. Only upper glass over screen is broken and you can buy one from ebay for 20$ and replace yourself by video tutorial on youtube. Anyway if you fail to repar it yourself you can anytime go and replace whole screen for 250 eur. But I think its worth to try to repair upper glass only if screen is still responding after damage.

It happened yesterday, i knew it would happen at some point...
Anyone know how much it will cost me? The device is still working fine, but i have no idea for how long it will..
It's pretty funny actually, i was thinking about buying a case, a few hours later my phone fell on the ground.
So, any cheap repair options and useful cases for the future?
Visit cnn.cn I've bought from them before and have no complain. You'll find the rear housing for around $10 and if your screen still responds to touch and asking as your amoled is intact then you probably just need to replace the front glass which is also cheap and around the rang of $10 - $20. However, if your amoled or digitizer is unresponsive then the whole screen assembly would cost you around $320. Good luck.

I would like to get my glass replaced. Sprint seems to be very picky on replacing glass or screens. I'm looking for a guarantee way to get new glass threw sprint. Yes I do have the insurance. Thanks in advance.

If the crack is too big they won't do anything. File a claim.

This,
Use to replace them free with insurance. My og Evo got shattered 6 months after I got it when I fell through an attic and I landed on it. They replaced the screen for free. Now it has to be a crack less than 2" I think.
