My SGW bricked after a few hours when i just flashed Black note hybrid gen 2...
and it stuck at the boot image showing SGW logo..
can anyone help???
first of all don't panic, you have nothing serious here.. think you forgot to wipe something before flashing
next try to enter recovery (hold HOME and VOLUME UP at boot) and then read ROM instructions carefully and reflash rom strictly following them, it helps always
here's the link about booting into recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390234
Good luck
Such a pity for you, the very first post on XDA and it's about bricking.. don't worry, it's all home-solvable

Haha, I've been following XDA but just i didn't apply an account here....
BTW, is that anything to do with my hardware?
Im just worried that if i keep flashing new ROM and it might hurt my phone.
Well, I did Wipe data before flashing the ROM, What else i need to wipe????
no, hardware remains unchanged, unless you write rom yourself or use smth carelessly, OC for example
cache and dalvik cache are also things to wipe before rom flashing, it's essential when switching between different custom roms
most of maniacs in development section have flashed tens of roms, however their phones. are still ok

I rooted my EVO through UnRevoked and Tried to Load Up the Revolution Rom.
But All it does is replay the start up animation. What Do I do? I know I am a noob but I really need to get this phone back to working.
Thanks,

Pull your battery out. Hold down power button and volume down at the same time. Select recovery option. When it boots into recovery make sure you wipe cache, wipe David cache. Flash Rom and see if that works.

Boot into recovery /power on while holding volume down/
Wipe dalvik and data both twice. Maybe also try /system format under advanced I think. Sorry I use RA recovery
If that don't work boot back into recovery and wipe dalvik and restore the nandroid backup that you should have made.
Good luck and this should be in q&a

Take a deep breath, the good news is, you can recover from this. Do what these other guys have suggested and let us know if you get back to a working phone.
Did you also run unrevoked forever?
Thread moved to Q&A.
I first want to say thanks for replying to my post. I also want to say sorry for posting in the wrong section of the forum. But I tried what you guys suggested and it didn't work. I can't seem to get past the Revolution load animation, it just keeps playing over and over. Does this mean I just Bricked my phone?
maybe you got a bad zip. try a fresh ROM, flash it and see what happens. make sure you wipe EVERYTHING twice just for kicks before you do this. www.geekfor.me

OK, here we go. I recommend you do this "because I know it work", deep breath, here we go.
Prerequisites: First I am assuming you have both Root and Nand-Off, if you need help checking let me know.
Some Questions:
1. do you have the Android SDK install on your PC?
2. What OS are you running on your laptop/desktop?
3. What recovery are you using?
4. Do you have a nandroid backup, one from before you flashed the ROM?
Answer this and I will help further.
Im going to say bad zip...redownload and try again

Hello all just bought a new Samsung Galaxy SII from craigslist already rooted with 4.0.3 Jedi Mind Trick. After reading for what seems 4-5 hours i have been trying to put together how to properly without bricking switching it to 10.0.0 Stable as i use to use Cyanogenmod 2-3 years ago on my devices. Seem alot of things have changed and there is a cluster**** of stuff out there now. If you could direct me to a how to or show me how to do it i would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks all!
Assuming you have nothing personal to back up that you can't just download from google play or your google account again: download cyanogen 10 and it's gapps. reboot into recovery mode. factory reset, wipe data, wipe system, wipe cache, wipe dalvik. pick the install zip from sd card or so option, browse to cyanogen, then install gapps the same way. wipe dalvik again and reboot.
I was thinking of doing this myself JMT to CM10. I didn't think there was anything special to do same as flashing from any other ROM to CM10. If there is a special requirement I would think they'd post in in with the ROM post information.

so I attempted to install it and got stuck on the boot logo for 20 minutes or so. So I bricked it lol... Anyway I just flashed it with Odin to 2.3.5 but the link to download file for root capabilities is broken. What can i do? Do i have to go to ics first before i reattempt to go to 10.0.0?

honestly - i backed up everything to my external and then formatted the internal when i went from TW to AOSP for the last time. well worth it. nice folder clean up and then you can just manually take all the stuff you want back.
and you should just be able to odin on cwm or twrp - then flash the rom of your choice.

If you get stuck at the boot logo, it's called a soft brick. You don't have to use ODIN or go back to ICS. Just make sure the ROM zip you downloaded isn't corrupt (check the size/m5d if possible), wipe everything, and reboot into recovery to try installing again.

You won't fail. Follow the guidelines step by step. Print it out, make notes. Anything. Read. The step by step guide works... that'll get you with cwm. Then, you can flash the zip you will put on your phone... either a SU zip or just a rooted ROM. Follow flashing instructions.
Just realized - you'll be way better off if, once you have cwm on, just format the internal ONCE YOU HAVE A ROM ON AN EXTERNAL SD CARD. then flash CM10. THEN you'll have a fresh AOSP install.

Please excuse my harshness but this is not as hard as many make it seem. I would say if it takes you more than a couple attempts maybe it is just not for you. I only say this because I would hate to see you mess up your phone. Now if you think a bootloop is a brick then we need to do things at a slower pace with you.
If you already have your phone rooted then
1.download goomanager from the playstore and then
2.open it up and allow it to grant permission from CM
3.hit menu button while goo manager is open
4.click on install OpenRecoveryScript
5.let it do its thing
6.reboot into your new TWRP recovery
7.Wipe/Data Factory Reset
8.Flash Rom
9.Flash Gapps
10.Reboot
You can throw in a backup of files somewhere in there if you like.... Your choice

I had a bootloop when using CWM v6.0.1.5. So a friend of mine told me he had success with CWM v6.0.1.5 Touch. So I switched to the touch recovery and... SUCCESS.
Here's the link to CWM touch and non-touch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893464
A boot loop could mean a bad download or bad flash but it is most definitely NOT a bricked device. All you needed to do was get a fresh download and move it to your SD card by mounting it in recovery. Then, wipe EVERYTHING but the SD. EVERYTHING. Then flash the ROM, Gapps and whatever radio. I go from CM to AOKP to other random TW roms all the time and never have issues.
The 2 best recoveries are twrp or my favorite because I'm used to it is cwm 6.0.1.5. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844637
Also if your phone boot loops don't freak out' just either reboot to see if that works out first and if not reboot into recovery. Also with these new recoveries do not use dark side scripts.
Factory reset
Format system
Format cache
Format data
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
Reboot and enjoy

Sorry for the necro on the thread, but I didn't want it to be stated I didn't look around some either.
I am going from JMT to CM and want to make sure it's as seamless as possible. I use CWM and usually usually use darkside complete wipes, but I read in a previous post not to use darkside. Is there a reason for this? I can't see why this wouldn't work as it's just a wipe.
Also I use Titanium Backup. Is it possible to backup my apps and data and restore them since its not TW any longer? I want to be able to restore as much of my data as possible and make sure I don't lose it.
P.S. - If thread necroing is not appreciated, I apologize.

Before you start flashing any custom ROM, you must keep a copy of your stock ROM with you. Any time if you brick your phone, you can flash this stock ROM and your phone is back to life again.
Go through @Doky73's thread for learning all about flashing stock & custom ROM. Read it carefully, it provides you links to download the stock ROM i.e. the ROM which came with your phone when you got it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800
Brick is when your phone gets hanged or stuck during boot or keeps rebooting, try to get into odin mode/download mode from this situation. If that is not possible, pull out your battery, wait 10-15 seconds and now put the battery and again try to get in odin / download mode ( vol down + home + power button). Now connect phone to PC and use Odin to flash the 3 files present in your stock ROM (phone, modem, csc). If you followed everything properly , you will unbrick your phone!

A sure way of fixing the problem is to flash the tmobile version of the Deviant Kernel.
It's cwm or twrp flashable no need for odin.
No need for Odin unless you messed it up worst and it does not even try to boot
into the Omega rom.
So in other words if it's still trying to boot into Omega rom then the Deviant kernel
will fix it if you go into recovery and flash the M919 version of Deviant kernel.
Here is the link to the Tmobile cwm or twrp flashable Deviant kernel: http://d-h.st/X0b
After flashing this, if it still gets stuck on the logo screen then go back into cwm or twrp
recovery and do a "factory reset" and after that I am certain it will boot normally.
(note: factory reset does NOT wipe or delete the rom)
Thank a lot for your help.
I tried everything but still getting stuck on galaxy screen.
I think I know what was the problem, I format internal sd (format data, app , and scripts) on TWRP, that was the only different thing that i remember .
IF I format format internal SD again and flash a rom or restore backup it will boot normal and work normal until i restart the phone or power off, then it will get stuck in galaxy screen and i have to do the same process again.
any suggestion will be much appreciate.:crying:

I think at this point an ODIN of the correct firmware for your device is in order, as on rebooting - nothing seems to work.
If this gets you back up, then reroot and flash TWRP again. Note - if you were using TWRP 2.5.0.3 - don't, as it has issues. The previous version is good.
After this, a restore of a nandroid backup should work (unless it was made with the TWRP version mentioned above).
Try to get into download mode and reflash stock tmobile tar. If you cant get into download mode get a usb jig. Only thing that worked for me

Hello,
I just installed the CM10.2 ROM on my SGH-T989 T-Mobile Galaxy S2 after having installed the Slim Bean (I think it's called), Jedi MindTrick, and AOKP so I already have the idea on how to boot a new rom already kinda experienced but I was gonna flash Gapps after installing CM10.2 and when I was gonna go into recovery it just didn't wanna boot up! I have very, very, important stuff including pictures, videos, and school projects so i would be very grateful to anyone that would please help me! At the moment, it's looping on the Samsung logo...
Just in case this helps I'm putting it in (but u already know this stuff anyways)
* CM10.2 made it so I have my own custom start up screen
* It also implemented its own charging battery icon when it's turned off
I really don't know if any of these features have anything to do with it but if someone could hand me like an updated/custom odin for that specific rom it would be great!
I have tried following the instructions given by techfanatic9 at YouTube indicating to go to download mode via USB, launch odin, and then use a .tar file called recovery-cwm-hercule but when it's done it just passes the Samsung logo and stays black.
If you need any more info I would gladly give out any!
BTW, I did wipe data/cache before installing the ROM those are the basics anyways

Hmmmm it doesn't sound hard bricked because it wouldn't start up at all if it nor would it go into download mode, you may have to take a hit on your storage and erase your SD.. can you get into your open recovery? Also as a disclaimer 10.2 is is very early alpha as team chopsticks is still working out their kinks and have said the 10.2 early roms have a likely hood of bricking the phone and messing with partitions.. very important to read thru the thread on very early rom threads.. report back and let me know

Its cwm recovery I'm 99% sure.. its known for not liking our device try twrp 2.6.. I haven't used cwm in forever but basically wipe everything but your SD cards.. flash over a 4.1.2 based rom.. try rushes shadow rom and boot.. also im not sure if cwm had the capabilities but in recovery hook your computer up to a pc mount your sd and copy files from your phone to your pc.. don't be scared to flash another rom especially sense its probably the reason for you not booting up<<<<--- this reason is why I have so many roms downloaded on my extra SD.. if I get stuck on a rom I wipe everything but my SD like 4 times flash the rom and kernel twice to make sure it sticks ex(flash rom re flash rom, wipe delvic and cache, flash kernel reflash kernel) usually works eveytime

Have you tried to remove the battery at all ? This has helped me in a similar situation. Remove the battery and try getting into CWM again and if that does not work, remove the battery and try getting into download mode. Good Luck.

The only roms I have on my internal SD is AOKP (4.2.2) and JediMindTrick (4.1.2) would either one be good to flash?
Sorry I'm asking so many questions lol! I'm just kinda nervous but I'm really glad you replied.

Your advice worked great Gabriel!! I think your doing a wondrous thing sticking by and helping peeps like me.
Thank you so much! C:
EDIT: Regarding the Odin thing, it didn't fix it I don't know why. I ran it but when I booted my phone up it kept freezing on Samsung and when I pluggen it in it showed the CM10.2 charging screen.
