So I like to set up all my fav roms and then make a backup therefore when I go back to them which is often they are just the way I like them... The problem I have run into is they will all restore fine for a while and then all of the sudden I will go to restore one and it will say md5 mismatch
Is this because I change recoveries??? No because some I can restore and others I can't..
I'm hoping someone with a little more knowledge than me can answer the ?? As to why can I not restore some of these sometimes..
For instance I have five roms fully backed up and now I'm only able to restore three of them the other 2 which I love now say md5 mismatch.. is their any fix??? Or am I doing something wrong this isn't the first time this has happened and I would love to not have to redownload the rom and go through the trouble of setting it all up again..
Sorry if this is confusing I hope someone understands what I'm saying and can help..

If you have renamed them there can be no spaces in the name or it gives a mismatch.
I never rename them I know that also thanks though I keep a list:thumbup:

Do you remember which recovery you made those two nonworking backups with? Try to flash that recovery, if it is different, and see if that works. Could be something in the recoveries backup process but doesn't mean it is. Just something to try.
I've always used agats the only difference is I'm now using his latest source built but I can restore the other 3 which were made at around same time with same recovery

LOL NP. I am not sure about this one I would try the older version of the recovery just in case. If that doesn't work you might try the latest cwm from Chris41g to see if it can restore it. If those don't work I am really at a loss. The only time I have ever seen that message is while screwing around with renaming backups. Can't really think of anything else at the moment.

since no one had done it yet, I'll take the liberty I suppose. I'm created a different thread as there is likely some differences between sbrissen's build and Darchstar's build. This way we can keep the issues between the two builds in two separate threads.
Consider this the thread to keep general chat about the ROM, thank you's, and brick issues so the dev thread doesn't continue down the path of being and uncontrolled cluster f**k

Well guys...after owning my 4th android phone and rooting/flashes with all of them....I finally bricked last night. Tried changing my font with rom toolbox on this rom and something went wrong. Maybe a corrupt file. I went in to sprint and told them I couldn't get my phone to turn on, they checked it out and handed me a new phone. I was hard bricked and only getting the blue led. No download mode or recovery obv. Just wanted to share my experience. Hope I can help stop these bricks. But yeah I've already rooted my new one and I'm getting ready to flash cm7 -cm9 from darchstar.

...there are still quite a few people on alpha 4, no? Different builds, different issues. If its all in one thread, people are constantly going to have to ask whether someone is on alpha 4 or not.
Just trying to keep everything separate so its easier to see what problems are specific to which builds. If the mods feel this should not be the case, feel free to delete.

My wife is going to be pissed if this does not get resolved.
I wanted to backup her phone. I already flashed Mr X's telus stock rom a week or so ago. I realized I hadn't done a nandroid backup so I though i'd install rom manager to quickly backup that rom. When I selected it it said clockworkmod recovery wasn't installed so I started the process to flash it (i thought it was strange). It went slow and I thought that I'd flash it again for good measure.
I selected the backup option expecting it to reboot into recovery and back up but nothing happens. I tried to pull the battery and boot into recovery but nothing but black, same with a regular pull and try to boot. I get the boot screen for a second and nothing but black. It will go into download mode.
My guess is it did not flash cwm successfully and this is the cause of problems. How can I fix this without having to wipe even if I can get recovery flashed properly? Can I flash cwm onto it from my pc and possiblly have it boot properly?? I would like to not have to set her phone up again and wipe her sms and things.
Thanks
Flash CWM from ODIN.

+1 if it doesn't boot up after that might try flashing darkside cachewipe. If that don't work she's gonna be mad at you for flashing rom again and wiping her stuff, might try a dirty flash to save her data.

Thank you all for the quick advice. I flashed CWM and it rebooted right into my wife's glorious setup! I had the prompt to assign Apex launcher as default but that was it at a glance.

^^I have found this to be the issue with anything that does not revolve around my wife or child.. It used to be the phone she complained about, until I got a car.. then I started getting complaints about "I really don't see the purpose of brighter lights" or something of that nature.
My wife doesn't let me touch her phone anymore....

Mine complains, but also won't take my advice on what phone to get. The truth she'll never admit: her G2 running ILWT CM7 is the best any phone has treated her yet, and if she'd just try to learn what a problem means when I've occurs, she could solve it in 10 secs.
My wife doesnt like me wiping her data at all when im flashing a rom...even if her rom is full of bugs and needs a serious update lol stubborn

Thanks for the reply Custodian, I did wipe the phone fully, I was however using the ultimate iPhone theme. I just have not found anyone on xda that is having this issue. Could it be the theme? I am just reluctant to flash this again, but I really like the Miui set up. Do you think I should try an older version? Thanks again.
i have the same problem,didi u use miui7.13?

same here.. i flashed calks format all in el26cwm, miui 7/13 and chris41g cwm5 safe aosp kernel, and couldnt get past lockscreen due to phone fc.. tried going back into recovery and flashed format all again (worked a charm thanks to chris41g!) flashed miui again this time not kernel and same exact thing except this time no cwm so had to pc odin a oc to get phone back.. i thought it was just me.. only thing i could think of was i dled it on my phone while roaming and it took a while.. maybe a bad download?

There is a solution in the rom's thread in development. It worked for me. I'd give you the steps but i can't remember exactly, but it involves flashing el26.cwm, miui 2.6.8, el29.cwm direct boot, then 2.7.13 with wipes in between. It should be on the second page.

This is my very first try to port paranoid android to the i957. This is still very much a work in progress. Anyone who wants to see it flash, http://d-h.st/V1f. Don't ask for help because I don't know yet. Flash the 21011 gapps with it. I'm only taking bits and pieces from others work who will get credit, I'm a noob who's learning.
You may or not get a bootanimation, it's kinda random. Give it a few minutes and if it still isn't booting re-boot. It does boot!
As always, clean install. And nandroid beforehand.

OK almost 3 hours of playing with this ROM.
It boots , its safe to try it .
Runs good, everything seems to be working that you would get from nrvates CM.
The FCs I get all come from the interface ,like PA settings, system settings , lock screen settings.
Still messing with it. I'll report back if anything new comes up.

Seems like the FC's are with a lot of devices. Did you factory reset after the install, as well as fix permissions?
Nice! will defiantly give this a shot. PA has always been one of my favorite ROM's out there. Never really expected to see it in here.
Thank you!
Is this good to go with TWRP?
