HELP.

My wife is going to be pissed if this does not get resolved.
I wanted to backup her phone. I already flashed Mr X's telus stock rom a week or so ago. I realized I hadn't done a nandroid backup so I though i'd install rom manager to quickly backup that rom. When I selected it it said clockworkmod recovery wasn't installed so I started the process to flash it (i thought it was strange). It went slow and I thought that I'd flash it again for good measure.
I selected the backup option expecting it to reboot into recovery and back up but nothing happens. I tried to pull the battery and boot into recovery but nothing but black, same with a regular pull and try to boot. I get the boot screen for a second and nothing but black. It will go into download mode.
My guess is it did not flash cwm successfully and this is the cause of problems. How can I fix this without having to wipe even if I can get recovery flashed properly? Can I flash cwm onto it from my pc and possiblly have it boot properly?? I would like to not have to set her phone up again and wipe her sms and things.
Thanks
Flash CWM from ODIN.

+1 if it doesn't boot up after that might try flashing darkside cachewipe. If that don't work she's gonna be mad at you for flashing rom again and wiping her stuff, might try a dirty flash to save her data.

Thank you all for the quick advice. I flashed CWM and it rebooted right into my wife's glorious setup! I had the prompt to assign Apex launcher as default but that was it at a glance.

Or just a cold shoulder and no dinner for a week!!
That's the truth! I found it ironic that this happened because I wanted to back it up lol

Also don't forget how we have to tip toe around our wives when it comes to flashing! "Why are you messing with your phone again?! " Geez

^^I have found this to be the issue with anything that does not revolve around my wife or child.. It used to be the phone she complained about, until I got a car.. then I started getting complaints about "I really don't see the purpose of brighter lights" or something of that nature.
My wife doesn't let me touch her phone anymore....
Sent from my super fantastic SGS2 running AOKP
Mine complains, but also won't take my advice on what phone to get. The truth she'll never admit: her G2 running ILWT CM7 is the best any phone has treated her yet, and if she'd just try to learn what a problem means when I've occurs, she could solve it in 10 secs.
My wife doesnt like me wiping her data at all when im flashing a rom...even if her rom is full of bugs and needs a serious update lol stubborn

Repeat those same flashing steps again. Make sure you wipe fully as well.

Thanks for the reply Custodian, I did wipe the phone fully, I was however using the ultimate iPhone theme. I just have not found anyone on xda that is having this issue. Could it be the theme? I am just reluctant to flash this again, but I really like the Miui set up. Do you think I should try an older version? Thanks again.
i have the same problem,didi u use miui7.13?

same here.. i flashed calks format all in el26cwm, miui 7/13 and chris41g cwm5 safe aosp kernel, and couldnt get past lockscreen due to phone fc.. tried going back into recovery and flashed format all again (worked a charm thanks to chris41g!) flashed miui again this time not kernel and same exact thing except this time no cwm so had to pc odin a oc to get phone back.. i thought it was just me.. only thing i could think of was i dled it on my phone while roaming and it took a while.. maybe a bad download?

There is a solution in the rom's thread in development. It worked for me. I'd give you the steps but i can't remember exactly, but it involves flashing el26.cwm, miui 2.6.8, el29.cwm direct boot, then 2.7.13 with wipes in between. It should be on the second page.

It's a bug in this version, for some reason. I don't know if it is happening too everyone though, maybe just those who are coming from a different room like i did? It took me less than ten minutes including downloading all four files on my pc.

I used latest miui 13. I followed the instructions exactly but I didn't try an older version 1st. Maybe that's the problem too much work, back on caulks 3.0 with the candy theme and it works great.

Backups????

So I like to set up all my fav roms and then make a backup therefore when I go back to them which is often they are just the way I like them... The problem I have run into is they will all restore fine for a while and then all of the sudden I will go to restore one and it will say md5 mismatch
Is this because I change recoveries??? No because some I can restore and others I can't..
I'm hoping someone with a little more knowledge than me can answer the ?? As to why can I not restore some of these sometimes..
For instance I have five roms fully backed up and now I'm only able to restore three of them the other 2 which I love now say md5 mismatch.. is their any fix??? Or am I doing something wrong this isn't the first time this has happened and I would love to not have to redownload the rom and go through the trouble of setting it all up again..
Sorry if this is confusing I hope someone understands what I'm saying and can help..
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
If you have renamed them there can be no spaces in the name or it gives a mismatch.
I never rename them I know that also thanks though I keep a list:thumbup:

Do you remember which recovery you made those two nonworking backups with? Try to flash that recovery, if it is different, and see if that works. Could be something in the recoveries backup process but doesn't mean it is. Just something to try.
I've always used agats the only difference is I'm now using his latest source built but I can restore the other 3 which were made at around same time with same recovery

LOL NP. I am not sure about this one I would try the older version of the recovery just in case. If that doesn't work you might try the latest cwm from Chris41g to see if it can restore it. If those don't work I am really at a loss. The only time I have ever seen that message is while screwing around with renaming backups. Can't really think of anything else at the moment.

[Modem/Baseband] T-MobileGS3 UVLI4 Flashable Radio

ONLY FLASH RADIOS IF YOU ARE A T-MOBILE CUSTOMER!!!!!YOU MAY REGRET IT IF YOU DO NOT HEED THIS WARNING!!!!!CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!!!!
DISCLAIMER:
Flashing radios on your phone should not be done if you do not understand what the modem/radio is! Yes, it is a simple flash, BUT, if you do mess it up somehow, it can at best prevent you from obtaining a signal, and at worst possibly brick your device!!! IF YOU ARE NOT ON T-MOBILE, DO NOT FLASH!!!! If you have a different device (T999V) or are with a different carrier (such as Sprint, Wind, etc) T-Mobile radios will NOT work!
I have tested this on my own device with no issues, however, you flash at your own risk!
T-Mobile GS3 Modem/RadioBaseband = UVLI4
This is the radio which came with the update UVALI4, released Sept. 7, 2012.
Download and flash this from TWRP or CWM Recovery
TMobileGS3_UVLI4_Modem.zip
Note: Flashing the above file will backup your current radio. HOWEVER, If you flash it again, it will write over the backup.
To restore this backup, flash the file below.
Download and flash this from TWRP or CWM Recovery
TMOGalaxyS3RestoreModem.zip
The above file will flash the backup created by the first. It is the same as provided by Wildchld with previous releases, so again thanks and credit to him!
(I didn't see any reason to reinvent the wheel!)
Note: As stated previously by Wildchld, the Modem Restore zip file should be placed somewhere on your INTERNAL sdcard, else it may not see the modem.backup file.
Up to this point Wildchld has provided us with pretty much all our modem needs, so as always, thanks to him!
Being that his flashable radios have worked so well for everyone, I have basically just used one of his previous updates to create this one. I simply replaced the old radio with the new, and edited the script to match. This will work (backup and all) the same as previous releases.
All credit for the work goes to Wildchld so please thank him when you see him!
Also credit to mercado79 for the updater-script as stated by Wild in his thread.
The T-Mobile Modem Flasher by clark44 should be updated with this modem later (I'm hoping!). Be on the lookout! In the meantime it is an excellent way to test each modem for best performance in your area and on your phone!
Thank you for getting this out so fast!! T999UVALI2 is now out.. dated Sep 3rd. Glad to see them putting in some work.. hopefully they do the same for JB.
holy **** my data speed never been faster...in here houston texas 20mbs

Sorry about that man...ill have a look to see if I can figure out why. Guess they must've changed things and I didn't realize it. Ill find somewhere else if need be.

idk what happened to the signal..

i was rooting my friend's s2 and he wanted paranoid android. so i downloaded that, installed the rom and gapps and his signal gave out. he had the phone for over a year and he used it to tell me he was outside so for sure it isnt stolen. i thought maybe it was the rom so i installed slim bean and still nothing. i tried my sim and nada. i didnt mess with any of the apn settings. the signal with no data would come in for about 3 seconds then give out again. maybe i should update the firmware? would anyone know where i could find the latest one? im so lost hah.. thanks xda community
