Battery dies on 4g not Wi-Fi - HTC One X

Hi y'all! So I've been going to these classes at my local university which I have to use the bus to get to. I use my HOX for music on the bus. I text a little but around five p.m. my phone is completely exhausted of battery. I took some pictures to explain myself.

When I reach the university usually after 45 minutes of listening to music.
When I reach home from the university. As you can see something is wrong. My phone has never done this before. I also noticed my phone lasts a while when on Wi-Fi. (I also saw there was a battery fix for the phone but the link was broken.)

Do you sleep? at 9am you have already had 9Hrs on battery which then extended to 17Hrs by 5pm.. because I get around 22+Hrs before I need to charge but I never get that far as I charge over night, if you use phone longer than the time frame you are giving us then id recommend a external battery to last you the rest of the way!

Do you mean your phone was fine while on 4G before and it's only draining battery this fast now, or are you asking why your phone is draining battery a lot with 4G when compared to WiFi? If it's the latter, then it will. WiFi uses very little power so it hardly affects battery drain. 4G on the other hand is a huge drainer. I don't have 4G in my country but it's a known fact that it drains battery fast. Especially from your battery usage I see you've used Chrome quite a bit. Web browsing + 4G = very fast battery drain. Here, my friend's One X doesn't last too long on 3G itself. Especially if it's being used actively for streaming music or web browsing. The only way to get this phone to last through the day is to not use the screen too much and to keep it on 2G (or the CDMA equivalent of it).

First thing, you posted in the wrong One X thread, this is the international one. But anyway, I had this problem on my Vivid. I cycled the battery while only on HSPA+ for a weekend, and that fixed my problem. If that doesn't work, try a factory reset but backup your data using this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1607254 after doing that do the factory reset and restore it using the same thread.

In the states, HSPA+ is considered 4G, and, if you look at the status bar in his screenshots, the phone says 4g in AT&T's style, instead of the normal Android style. He has the AT&T model, not the Tegra 3 model.

My phone was originally fine before this problem stated happening. I only put Wi-Fi on if I am home. My phone before was fine on 4g but after a prolonged period in my house and my phone on Wi-Fi this problem started to occur.

3hrs 30min of screen on time, and your phone was awake like 90% of the battery cycle. That's pretty much normal...
You were actively heavily using your phone for hours at a time. What the hell did you expect?
I have no complaints. On this charge I did a bunch of reading with Aldiko, playing with Maps and Earth, and some Flick Golf and a bunch of text messages. I don't think I had a single phone call. Screen on time was just over 3 hours. At this rate I could get an entire 24 hours on a single charge.

Mine's the best I've had on an Android phone, my Optimus 3D used to last around 8 hours, my desire around 10, my G1 around 18 (this shows how I use it and what I have running).
The GN lasts around 24 hours, in fact, since I got it around 3 weeks ago I've only been in the red twice.
I went out for my sons 2nd birthday 2 weeks ago, from 10AM until 3PM I was filming a LOT (including using the light when indoors) as well as taking photos. by 4PM it was still at 50%
and I'm loving how quick it charges!
Also, takes me around 1-1.5 hours to full charge...but I am not using the bundled adapter though...
The battery is definitely way way way better than the Optimus 3D.

My last phone took me 2-3 hour for a FULL CHARGE. I think my GN cannot be charged completely.

I'd say the battery life is pretty normal and standard for an android phone. Nothing commendable but not horrible either. It serves the purpose as it should.

Nah, not possible to undervolt it that much. Have never seen someone with more undervolting than -200mv.
And the battery isn't gonna last that long even with super under clocking and undervolting cuz the screen is such a battery eater.

Sorry but very real. And very possible. I was quite surprised when I saw 10 hours screen on time as I get around 4 hours on normal day. But I guess using One X for reading in dim environment with excellent wifi connection extended battery life.

Word! 3g is a little ***** when it comes to battery life and auto brightness as well as anything above 25% brightness seems to unleash havoc on the battery life as we.. however for indoors usage you will not really need more than 15% brightness. Can stick to 0% too bit then it feels dim like the sgs3 screen at 80% brightness

This doesn't prove ****. I struggle to get 3+ hours out of mine when i use the phone. I am starting to doubt that i neee all this quad core ****. Would easily give up a few core for a few hours of on screen time.

Terrible battery life after updating to 4.1.2

I've had TERRIBLE battery life ever since upgrading to 4.1.2 a couple weeks ago. I unplug at 7am, and by 3pm, it would be dead with minimal usage (max 30min. of screen on time) I've tried factory reset, and deleting all mp3 files to see if it's a bad mp3, but to no avail.
Attached is screenshots of battery usage and badass battery monitor.

I'm still talking about battery life after update so I'm guessing your just a idiot and have the reading comprehension of a 5th grader like most people.
Also I have noticed testing with my phone by forcing it on 3G only the battery life is much better so I'm pretty sure its the switching back and forth of the networks. That was for people who actually have a brain.

Same here for me. I wiped everything, reflashed the stock 4.1.2 image and still have the battery drain, even with no accounts set up, location services deactivated, flight mode on and no extra apps installed. Drain is pretty consistently 5% / hour and my battery stats show no active states when the screen is off. I thought about it being related to a defective SIM card, but the same drain is observed with 2 different cards or even no sim card inserted. I have no clue what else to do...
I got my Gnex after JB was released. How was the battery life on ICS? How long could you have the screen on?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
When I didn't use my phone a lot, I went home with 70-80% battery after a workday (sync fully enabled, working WiFi all through the day). Screen time was ~3h.
So, is it worth going back to ICS? JB is superb, but i hate not being able to keep the screen on for a long time. I read a lot on my phone.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Depends on what screen time you're getting now. My major concern is standby drain which is so high I couldn't get a decent amount of screen time if I wanted to. Oh, and and I use the European GSM Nexus, btw.

Battery life...wtf??

This battery so far is underwhelming. Today especially.
I went to Universal Studios with the family but I left my phone in the car because I don't have a case and I didn't want it falling out of my pocket. That and water rides, I didn't want it getting wet. After getting back to the car, I grabbed my phone and checked the battery. Sitting in the car unused, with full signal, in 9 hours it dropped to 68%.
That doesn't sound right at all.
Wtf???
man it is too hot may that casue battery drop so fast
you should feel lucky your phone not blowout
You could have a app in the background not letting your phone deep sleep.
Also, what he said. When your battery is hot it's less efficient.

Especially since my kid's 2013 Nexus 7 is on 4.4.2 and it went all night and most of the day yesterday unplugged and never dropped from 100%. I mean yeah it's a tablet with a bigger battery but still...

LOL, complained endlessly? I've made this thread about the battery life and a thread about the screen not sitting flush. Two whole threads with valid complaints, ohnoes! I'm sorry that I apparently am more scrupulous about my purchases than you. I love the phone, but there are obviously some build quality concerns, and I think the battery (at least in mine) is overrated/underwhelming. Overall I like the phone, though. So yes, if I want to complain about a few problems in hopes that they can be fixed, then I'm going to. Am I doing it endlessly? Absolutely not. So stop exaggerating.

Nope, just exaggerating. I did a search and I haven't posted anything since December of last year when I still had my Note 2. Then around launch day for the M8 I asked a couple questions about being able to install a GPe rom on the phone, and if HTC/sense phones had the infamous Android OS battery drain. Then a thread about build quality and a thread about battery life.
So get off my nuts. If you don't like my threads, stay out of them. I just got a Seidio case and a Mime screen protector, so obviously I like the phone and intend to keep it. I'm sorry you have lower standards than I do when it comes to expensive purchases.
For everyone that at least attempted to throw out ideas as to why my battery drained so fast that day, thanks for the help. Wase, thanks for nothing.

Even if they do update to 4.4.3, it will still be Sense 6
I'm running SlimKat 4.4.3, and notice very little differences over 4.4.2, so the updated Android code won't make for a groundbreaking update from HTC
Looking forward to the updated radios
4.4.3 is soooo yesterday. How about 4.4.4 now?
I think there will be a small update still on 4.4.2 for volte

Hopefully I'll be really upset if they just give it to those phones they've announced.

LTE is no more a drain than WiFi nowadays

I mostly agree. Thing is LTE does use more power when used for long times. It requires more power from a signal further away and the speeds will vary more and the latency won't matter as much. WiFi you usually are at a set distance so power isn't varying as much, you're closer to source of signal and the speed will usually be more consistent. I've used my unlimited LTE to watch videos and noticed it drained a little faster and got a little warmer than using WiFi and that is with a pegged LTE signal. If I'm just browsing or using apps like xda I'll usually use LTE for the extra benefit of low latency and faster race to idle. When steaming video WiFi has the advantage.

My unscientific analysis is this..
On WiFi or lte I get the same on screen times while it's lower on hspa

Why I said I mostly agree. I don't watch videos all the time so it's either or. If I don't watch any videos usually my sot is usually a little better if LTE used all day. Otherwise it all evens out.

Whether I do or don't it's still the same
However it's hot in central ca thus my phone heats up and that's when drain increases.
