Lol u just need four more posts.. And only the stock kernel the fe22 calkuins one automatically reboots into recovery but if you head over to Agat's thread his kernel now supports booting into recovery to flash the mod... And part two of the rom is in the rom updater.. Click into it scroll down until you see "put things back to stock"... And you should see part two near the top

Thanks again!i might just wipe and reflash the whole thing again cuz I didnt do that fx2 wipe thing.I get a red blinking boarder around the screen at times when touching the screen, dont think it should do that.but I do love this ROM,made easy for people like me!

Part two is only for theming google talk. If you don't use it, don't worry about it.
Its not really required. Add far as the red border, I would wipe and flash again. Or just wait for the next update.

If you are already on Kuban when a update comes out you don't have to wipe if you are using the ROM updater. Just chose the upgrade when it comes available

Stock EL26 kernel with CWM Recovery download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?hkydca9ob98z89m
For AOSP users:
-Flash EL26 stock CWM kernel via the PDA option in ODIN; or use MobileOdin
-When phone begins rebooting, Hold Power + Volume up until boots into recovery.
-Wipe data/factory, cache and dalvik cache
-Flash ROM (flash twice in a row if the first flash takes less than 15 seconds)
-Flash Gapps
-Reboot
Some reports state that it may need a second flash of the rom to get it to boot. So if your initial rom flash is really quick, flash the rom a second time, right after the initial flash.
Thank you so much. I've been trying to track this down this morning so I can flash using Hemidall on my Mac. All of the other guides I've seen use ODIN and Windows and make it difficult trying to just find the kernel file I need to flash with.
I'm now running CM9 Alpha 3 without issue.
The download link which is the same as this link has been in the codename discussion/faq thread OP for weeks now. It's not been hard to find Just saying

you quoted a post that is almost an entire year old. the intention of this thread was clearly stated: simply to make it easier to find (hence this thread being resurrected). common sense dictates that i'm not trying to claim rights to or steal anything. also, in the entire year that this thread has existed, nobody cared about me not "giving props" or me reposting a link that at the time was a little difficult to find given the frequency of new threads created asking for said links. you should stick to just smoking since you lack the insight, context, and reasoning for this thread's creation and are therefore unable to contribute anything of value.
mods, please lock this thread. it is outdated and there's really no reason for it to be open for discussion any longer.

I run rogue recovery and decided to give Blu Kuban fe10 1.0.3.9 a chance. Looks sharps and behaves well. Here is my issue. If my screen shuts off or if I hit the power button to kill the screen, I have roughly two seconds to hit the button again to get the screen to come up. If not, it stays black and about 20 seconds later, it shuts off.
Any Ideas? I read through the majority of the 428+ pages on the ROM but have found nothing. Really like the ROM but having to power on my phone to use it...no beuno.
I'm running the ROM on fe22.
I haven't heard of an issue like that yet. Have you played with the screen settings by any chance? Maybe go in and set to default, worth a shot. Of not that and it were me, Odin back to el29, download the rom again and start fresh.
SENT VIA ICS MIUI ON THE INTERNETS!!!
Yeah, like the poster said above me I would redownload and reflash the ROM. You could have just had a bad flash since I believe your the only person with this issue. Also obviously make sure you do a full wipe before flashing.
Good luck
Running odin now.
Should I find another source for blu kuban or go ahead and try the one on my sd card?

Delete the old version you have on your sd card so you don't get them confused.
Download the full version of 1.0.4.0 to your computer

Move it to your sd card.
Make sure you also have Calkulin's format_all on your sd card. It's at the bottom of the OP, in his signature.

Welcome to our street on XDA! Glad to see you have an Epic touch! I personally enjoy Cyanogen Mod Alpha 6, but it does have a few bugs. The one that annoys me the most being that cusotm ringtones are not supported yet. (The gf doesn't like not having her custom ringtone when she calls me ) But overall it is highly customizable and a great rom! I also like Blu Kuban (yes I did spell that right, Blu Kuban) but it is a little too Blue for my personal liking, but other than that I hear great things about it. I too recommend that you thoroughly read "The Official how I hard bricked my E4GT thread" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509795 as well as the "How Not To Brick Your E4GT (UPDATED 5/21/12)" thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525495
From what I understand, the main things bricking Epic Touches right now is not being careful when flashing kernels. Currently, I believe that the recommended standard is when you wish to upgrade to a new rom, you first flash this in odin and then update: http://chris41g.devphone.org/EpicTouch/Stock Repack/EL26/StockCWM-EL26.tar.md5
This is a Gingerbread Kernel, and most people seem to recommend it when upgrading to ICS. In other words, Say one was on a stock FF18 root, one would open odin, flash this, then in the Clockwork recovery provided (the way people usually upgrade Modems, Roms, etc...) flash their new ICS Rom.
To Root, I might take a look at this, but I personally have not tried it, and don't know if it works or not. :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
I believe in order to do that, in theory one would do the following:
Download that
Flash it in Odin
Done
If one wanted to go to Stock FF18 to Cyanogen Mod, I believe one would do the following:
Download and flash that rooted FF18 above,
Flash that EL26 CWM file I linked to earlier
Flash the Cyanogen Mod Alpha 6 http://e4gtcm.blogspot.com/p/cm9-status.html
Before you go ahead with any of this though, I would confirm that this is working with others, as I personally have not ever tried to start out on a non-rooted ICS Rom.
Also, whats called an emmc bug is currently going around, that hard-bricks devices in theory. Do be careful of this. It seems to be contagious through recoveries and kernels. I would read up more on this, as I myself am not fully educated upon the matter.
Also, please note that I do not take credit for any Kernels or Roms mentioned in this post, and that I in no way helped develop them. I also take no credit in discovering the emmc bug, I simply read about it, and have bricked one of my devices by getting the bug.
If you have any questions, let us know!
thanks to everyone..appreciate the input!!!:good:
edit: rooted now just need to find a stable kick butt rom.
 for being rooted.. I'd recommend the blu Kuban as well.. Great rom with kick ass support ... Plus love the rom updater . A daily driver for me... Just throwing that out there

I'm also a relative noob, at least to Samsung devices. I am on stock rooted EG30 right now (no CWM). Say I wanted to flash Blu Kuban. From what I gather, I would Odin the EL29 kernel+CWM recovery only using the PDA option in Odin (not the full ROM), then boot into the recovery just Odin'ed, wipe data/factory reset (or use the Format All x2 script), then flash the Blu Kuban as instructed in the Blu Kuban thread. Correct? I don't have to wipe internal or external sd card either, right?
Also, once I do that, if I wanted to flash a different kernel, like agat FF18 built from source, how would I do that? Would I just use CWM to flash, or would I have to Odin?

won't boot into CWM recovery
this thread seems like a great place for my noob questions too. I thought i knew my way around my HTC Evo 4G, but Samsung is like learning a whole new language...
I'm running CM9 alpha 4, with EL29 baseband version and FE16 kernel, and i have CWM 5.0.2.7 installed (i know i do because i made some nandroids). I can't get it to reboot into CWM now though - only the stock recovery. What am i doing wrong?
IMHO the best d&^% ROM around. The only thing is (and I am sure I am screwing this us up) when I download a new boot animation it reboots, flashes but the old one still runs,,,what am I doing wrong?
Is it saying you passed the md5 before clicking install?
Edit
If you are using ones in ROM toolbox they won't work with a touch wiz kernel. Use the ones in the ROM updater

it takes a few to come back, then goes to lockscreen and says unfortunately UI has stopped working
everything but system Ui comes back, i can still access recovery, im kinda freakin here due to the simple fact that i failed to make a nandroid backup
reflash the Universe ROM from recovery. Wait for the first boot up. Then try it.
OR you could use the One-click FI03 'no data' http://sxtp-forum.com/showthread.ph...3-(FI03-Modem-Kernel-ROM-Full-Restore-Rooted)
That should get you to a stock rooted (choose the preserver data version) and should at least be able to boot. [hopefully] Once booted to that update the superuser app - open it >info>'tap here to update binary'
Then apply a safe recovery via Mobile Odin (best bet because it won't give you that anoying triangle) Or use one of the One-clicks rwilco12 has put togher in his awesome repository. Agat's or Rujelus22's
Good luck.
do i perform calkulin's fomat all prior to this or just flash

Glad to see you got it working. It's always good for the community to know the resolution and outcome(s).
I found that running Agat's 5.4 or RU's 1.8 kernel's worked best for me on this ROM. I also am a big fan of it. Has just about everything I use and like and is quick and smooth.
Make sure you also get the modem that works best for you. Check the repository for those. I've had the best luck with the latest (FI25) other haven't; modems are very device AND location specific I've found.
Take some time and read through the stickies and posts of all the devs and you will learn loads.
Also It would be wise to make a backup/nandroid or two. And once you make it verify it! I use the AFV app from the market. Dead simple. I also keep more than a few nands on my SD card. at least two of the current ROM I'm on and a couple of other builds I switch between. Makes it easy to restore and fix things if I get a bad flash, install something that kills my setup or try a new ROM that just isn't quite ready for use as a daily driver.
Good luck, have fun.
Tha ks had same issue now i know what to do
