Check the wiki section. They have the roms listed there. Also first before anything read "how not to brick" and for FF18 there is a rooted one click Odin. Its in the dev section.
Edit: there is a Q&A section. You can search for what you need. hope this is helpful.

I've heard that Blu Kuban is a cool ROM. I currently use CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 6. You can root your stock ROM with this guide: E4GT Wiki
Try searching next time
Team venum has some awesome roms. Just make sire to read the how not to brick thread first.

Welcome to our street on XDA! Glad to see you have an Epic touch! I personally enjoy Cyanogen Mod Alpha 6, but it does have a few bugs. The one that annoys me the most being that cusotm ringtones are not supported yet. (The gf doesn't like not having her custom ringtone when she calls me ) But overall it is highly customizable and a great rom! I also like Blu Kuban (yes I did spell that right, Blu Kuban) but it is a little too Blue for my personal liking, but other than that I hear great things about it. I too recommend that you thoroughly read "The Official how I hard bricked my E4GT thread" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509795 as well as the "How Not To Brick Your E4GT (UPDATED 5/21/12)" thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525495
From what I understand, the main things bricking Epic Touches right now is not being careful when flashing kernels. Currently, I believe that the recommended standard is when you wish to upgrade to a new rom, you first flash this in odin and then update: http://chris41g.devphone.org/EpicTouch/Stock Repack/EL26/StockCWM-EL26.tar.md5
This is a Gingerbread Kernel, and most people seem to recommend it when upgrading to ICS. In other words, Say one was on a stock FF18 root, one would open odin, flash this, then in the Clockwork recovery provided (the way people usually upgrade Modems, Roms, etc...) flash their new ICS Rom.
To Root, I might take a look at this, but I personally have not tried it, and don't know if it works or not. :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
I believe in order to do that, in theory one would do the following:
Download that
Flash it in Odin
Done
If one wanted to go to Stock FF18 to Cyanogen Mod, I believe one would do the following:
Download and flash that rooted FF18 above,
Flash that EL26 CWM file I linked to earlier
Flash the Cyanogen Mod Alpha 6 http://e4gtcm.blogspot.com/p/cm9-status.html
Before you go ahead with any of this though, I would confirm that this is working with others, as I personally have not ever tried to start out on a non-rooted ICS Rom.
Also, whats called an emmc bug is currently going around, that hard-bricks devices in theory. Do be careful of this. It seems to be contagious through recoveries and kernels. I would read up more on this, as I myself am not fully educated upon the matter.
Also, please note that I do not take credit for any Kernels or Roms mentioned in this post, and that I in no way helped develop them. I also take no credit in discovering the emmc bug, I simply read about it, and have bricked one of my devices by getting the bug.
If you have any questions, let us know!
thanks to everyone..appreciate the input!!!:good:
edit: rooted now just need to find a stable kick butt rom.
 for being rooted.. I'd recommend the blu Kuban as well.. Great rom with kick ass support ... Plus love the rom updater . A daily driver for me... Just throwing that out there

I'm also a relative noob, at least to Samsung devices. I am on stock rooted EG30 right now (no CWM). Say I wanted to flash Blu Kuban. From what I gather, I would Odin the EL29 kernel+CWM recovery only using the PDA option in Odin (not the full ROM), then boot into the recovery just Odin'ed, wipe data/factory reset (or use the Format All x2 script), then flash the Blu Kuban as instructed in the Blu Kuban thread. Correct? I don't have to wipe internal or external sd card either, right?
Also, once I do that, if I wanted to flash a different kernel, like agat FF18 built from source, how would I do that? Would I just use CWM to flash, or would I have to Odin?

You have done your homework ... once you have blu kuban installed...it comes with a rom updater where you can change kernals modems and such. You can personalize it for your preferences. Good luck and welcome to the blu family.

Thanks. Are there any standing issues with the Blu Kuban ROM? It says all existing FF18 issues are still there, but what in particular are those issues? Also, should I use EL29 or EL26 as the "base" kernel/recovery to flash from, or does it matter?

I've had the rom for almost 2 months now.. No issues at all.. Some black on black text here and there but that's not big in my opinion compared to some of the issues I've seen on other roms... And to flash you should be able to use agats source kernel and use ruj wipe in his OP

I used el29 when I first flashed this Rom. When you first install blu it has a caulks fe22 kernal...but with the updater you can go to the latest ff18. Ruj (blu developer ) will prob do a slight Makeover based on the released F18. I really enjoy his from. Great battery and love he themeing. Plenty of help in the developer area as well. Make sure after you flash you update your profile and prl... under about phone. Enjoy ICS!

won't boot into CWM recovery
this thread seems like a great place for my noob questions too. I thought i knew my way around my HTC Evo 4G, but Samsung is like learning a whole new language...
I'm running CM9 alpha 4, with EL29 baseband version and FE16 kernel, and i have CWM 5.0.2.7 installed (i know i do because i made some nandroids). I can't get it to reboot into CWM now though - only the stock recovery. What am i doing wrong?

first time I flashed aokp it was all gravy until I tried to boot into recovery, I got the Android System Recovery. I got scared and I read around and ended up odin'ing back to stock and flashing another rom.
I really like aokp so I wanted to try it again. I made very sure I followed the directions, I did not flash from an ICS recovery. I try booting into recovery to see if it worked this time and sure enough, there is android system recovery again, what am I doing wrong?
I searched for this too and saw that someone said to reinstall the packages and reboot, and do it again or something like that and it would boot into CWM, but that was for a different phone so I wasnt gonna try that.
Can I just run the eg4tauto.zip and isntall el26 with cwm to get recovery back and be good, or do I need to odin?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no cwm on aokp codename etc for a reason ....to stop people from bring stupid and bricking ....don't use a ics kernel with cwm for anything .... Use el26 to flash any ROM u need and when you want to go to another use mobile Odin or regular Odin to flash el26 kernel again and boot into cwm .... El26 is a GB kernel and won't boot a ics ROM ....then you can flash anything GB or ics

FC18 Modem: DOWNLOAD
Flash through Stock CWM Recovery OR pull the modem.bin out of the .zip file and flash in the Phone option in Odin(mobile Odin doesnt flash modem)

sorry if this is a dumb questions, but what if I get stuck in a boot loop and I have no recovery? just go into download mode and odin my way out?
one other thing, I started flashing ics roms with venum ice and flashed to mijjz ics and caulks and others and never had a problem, was I just lucky so far? I don't recall mijjz or venum's installation instructions saying I needed to odin back to stock before flashing. Sorry for the noob questions, but I've read a bunch and just trying to piece it all together. I read so I don't brick, but then I end up with more questions.
I'm also wondering about this I've spent a good deal of time trying to put the time line of the et4g together and I think I got most of it....just got my shiny white et4g two days ago my wife has had hers. for about 4 mo. shes much less fearless when it comes to flashing on this phone. (however shes settled in on build 27 of aokp, and I doubts shes gonna be flashing anytime too soon.) I'm coming over from my NS4G which always had clear cut rules to flashing! CWM all day. The only thing(s) I ever had to watch for was is it aosp, or not? An do I do a wipe or not? (I got in the habit of wiping just to be safe, and man I flash with the best of them! At least 2 times a week)
OK, OK sorry about the ramblings of my history my real questions are:
A) So Im sitting on alpha 2 of CM9 (nice piece of work I must Say) I made sure I was in the green, and had everything lined up to flash this one! went smooth of course. It wasn't until after my flash that I tried to make a nandroid....I get why theres no clockwork! but I'm totally clueless on how to back up with out it, or if you even can make one with stock recovery?
Can I keep CM9, and flash a kernel with rouge recovery to the make a nandroid? Or is there another way to go about this (I like to make nandroid often as a easy way to restore data after I play around with stuff and brake Wifi or what have you, and scrap unneeded back ups as I find out what I can and cant do with MY phone.)
I really really love Cryogen 9 (yeah its not as far along as I would like it to be ex- cm7 for the ns4g or kangs aokp builds) But there a team I'm familiar with. An I like there stuff, but I'm really nerves about where I go from here if/when i decide to change to something else. What are the guide lines for flashing from cm9 to say another ICS build? and is CM9 compatible with other kernels or only the one that is came packed with?
B) can someone straight up make a new clean thread with proper flashing tech. and no filler or out dated info then the have a mod stick it and close it>>>>simplify this for those of us that know what were doing....until things go funk for some reason, or another and that leaves ,us we are completely lost!
Well after wrighting my first novel (joke haha) I would like to thank everyone thats put up there time and money to make phones OURS and more powerful then what hit the shelfs an allowing me to get the most customized electronic device I have ever seen with the exception of my PC. Clapping
If you want to backup your system with the stock cm9a2 kernel, just mobile odin/odin el26 kernel/recovery, boot into cwm, flash stock cm9a2 kernel, now while still in cwm do a nand backup. That way it will be a full backup.

I would try that, but these folks have me scurred about using cwm within aokp. I have flashed between caulks ics/venum ice, anakonda/mijjz goodness, xplod mini and a couple other ICS roms all from cwm with absolutely no issues so far.
I am thoroughly confused right now. I am on aokp build 28 with a few significant issues and not sure what what direction to go next. I know how to get out of aokp safely now, but not sure which rom i want to go to, little issues with each that I dont know how to fix yet.

If you have been having luck thats fine but I can not see how you have not noticed int eh OP of the ICS roms and the OP of the recoveries it gives you instructions on what to do and what not to do. Also there are quite a few threads in here about the horror stories of the now infamous blue light of death. Once again if you have escaped this then maybe you should tell us your secret to success. Honestly the few extra steps it takes to ensure your phone stays your phone is well worth it.

I've read that, hence the reason for my posts. I am not going to load cwm and start flashing away. From aokp, I will odin back to GB before I flash any new ICS roms. I also won't be flashing between other ICS roms, even ones I have done before with no problems. I odin every time now, but it is putting a serious damper on my flashing addiction.
I could flash 3 roms in the time it takes me to odin back to GB, lol!

UPDATE: It seems that using recovery on Touchwiz-based ICS roms (like Blend ICS) is safe but it is much more dangerous on roms built from stock (like CM9). Your buddy must be using roms based off of leaked builds and not stock AOSP.
------------------
If you flashed back to Gingerbread to change your modems and installed an Ice Cream Sandwich rom over it the modem should stay.

It is the same recovery and soft bricks ate usually from not wiping right....but use that kernel with cwm and wipe data and your risking a b.l.o.d. It doesn't take much ....the thing is Samsung changed a couple things with how the data partition is handled and they also changed a couple other partitions and sfhub said he thinks it writes over two of the partitions at the same time when wiping and makes both unusable creating a brick
... writers thing is it damages the emmc somehow and makes it even impossible to jtag it .... Which should really never happen

So the best thing I guess would be to just to avoid ICS recoveries all around.
Hi.. just moved from the Samsung Vibrant S to the Epic 4G touch. I am confused on how to get Clockwork Mod recovery on my phone. Flashing it via the ROM Manager Premium app doesn't seem to work. I reboot into recovery, and no Clockwork Mod.
What is the appropriate and correct way to get Clockwork Mod on the phone? It seems for now, the only way I can play with ROMS is to find an ODIN version of the ROM. I am willing to use that if necessary, but a lot of ROMS are not released in ODIN format. Can someone help? Thanks!
Recovery is packed with kernal. So you have to flash a kernal with the recovery of choice. I think the consensus is to use Odin or MobilOdin for now.
Agat63 has some nice kernals and CM9 folks are making some safe ones.
Make sure you read the stickies on how not to brick your phone. There's some dangerous stuff that can brick you permanently, especially if youre used to flashing stuff on other phones. Theyre not just for noobies. Definitely read the stickies here. And did i mention to read the stickies?

thanks guys. Right now, I haven't flashed a new ROM as of yet. Is there one that you would recommend. I'd rather wait till CM is in beta stage, and I have checked out Phantom's rom.
I did try installing a kernel FE22 i believe, and thought it would have recovery in it, but getting into recovery mode, I don't see Clockwork mod. Am i doing it incorrectly? Which kernel would u recommend. Thanks!
Heed tdunham's advice about ROM manager or you'll paperweight your shiny new phone. Here are the kernels http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662295 Read through some of the threads. I would recommend using the EL26 CWM or one of the latest ICS versions (FF11 FF18) from Agat63; they have not failed me or others. Being new to this device I'd recommend using one of sfhub's one-clicks then odin a kernel with recovery (again Agat would be my choice). Be careful to choose a recovery and install method that is expressly laid out by the developer. Using the wrong format, kernel, wipe, install method can also paperweight your phone.
Good luck.

I'm not sure what you've done so far but this is the method to install stock rooted and also CWM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24158551&postcount=9980
From there, you can flash anything you want. I would REALLY recommend sticking with a Gingerbread rom for a while. Flashing over to the leaked ICS builds can be pretty hazardous if you're not absolutely certain of how it's done.
I prefer Calkulin's 3.0 GB rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332837
It may look stock but believe me it is not. There are a few themed GB roms around to try also.

I have what may appear to be a pretty dumb question. I am running EL29 stock but rooted with Rogue Recovery which states it is CWM 5.0.2.7 I believe. I've been told that Rogue is not currently a safe recovery. I would like to know if there is a way to get my phone to where when I boot into recovery it is CWM and not Rogue ?? Hope this makes sense. I've searched for delete Rogue recovery to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Here is the Kernel Repository maintained by RWilco. Just pay attention to the notes and the descriptions for each group and then read the threads linked for each.
:edit: Side note - Do NOT use Rom Manager to apply kernels/recovery for this phone.

I'm so very confused as to what to do right now. I just bought an e4gt phone that I was told was rooted and flashed to cricket already, but when I get home, no custom recovery and I su doesn't respond to auto allow requests from superuser.apk, so I figure it lost root on that ics update. It's saying it's Fl24, and upon following various threads and stickies and videos, I'm absolutely overwhelmed, especially considering e4gtauto-sfx.exe and e4gtauto.zip are missing from their download links in a monster thread here in xda, so any help would be appreciated...

Okay, now I would just like to say, as long as you necro post in a thread relevant to your isssue/question you shouldn't be responded to in that manner^^^
If it's already there and they post a new one they get flamed like hell for it, at least they took the initiative to actually search obviously!

That's the problem, his questions don't pertain directly to CWM. He just says that there is not one on his phone. Basically, he is asking about how to get root back on a device that sounds like it actually wasnt rooted, and that is a completely different subject. And even if he was directly asking about CWM, the answer is in the post right above his. So he my have searched, but he isn't reading.

All sorted out now, and you're right, it was all there for me to find. The issues with this phone regarding bricked devices and various unsafe recoveries and kernels WAS overwhelming, but after a couple days of lurking the stickies and all the other related threads I believe I've got at least a working awareness of the situation. For anyone else who comes after me, agats tREC CWM based recovery combined with the fl24 kernel as compiled by garwynn is a good place to begin, and qbking77's video tutorials will go a long way to getting you up to speed. Thanks (for nothing ) folks, this e4gt will live to see another day!

Easiest way is to Odin full restore (rooted) the desired ROM. As of now I'd say GB27

Well, while that is the newer repack, i wouldn't day it's the EASIEST method, because the vast majority (dare i say all?) of AOSP based ROMs specifically instruct you to "not use with a JellyBean modem." Following your method, they'd have to Odin flash to gain root, mobile Odin their CWM recovery, then follow ir up with flashing back to an ICS modern, re updating their carrier data & PRL (as well as nv items n all that) then get on to the ROM flashing business. If they start with FL24, they're able to side-step the whole modem compatibility consideration and jump right into flashing their custom OS of choice. Unless, of course, they decide to go with something that's TouchWiz based. But having been new to this device not that long ago, i can say with confidence that the AOSP based ROMs that reside in the "Android original development" thread are much more appealing to someone who's just gained root and is settling down to tweak their device to the fullest extent that modern development safely allows. So, yes, that is the most updated method, but easiest? Gotta say that was covered in my post...

I was a bit cheeky. Apologies. That's what i get for drunk posting... His post was written with the best of intentions. That was no way of me to show my gratitude. However, graydiggy, I'm guessing you weren't hugged enough as a child.... As for what you said about his post, you're half right, the GB27 method would be a fine choice for some purposes. And to clear up the mess i was in when i first posed my question to this thread, that'd have given me root and gotten me back to a happy place. But i didn't expound on my end purpose... I wanted to be able to flash Cyanogenmod, AOKP, etc, etc... And perhaps without the bundled recovery that'd still be a fine route to go, except for the JB modem issue i mentioned, but that's just an extra step. But, on a side note, Garwynn just uncovered some real troubles with the GB27 kernel and custom recovery repack he put out, in case anyone wants to look over it you can find the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40218765. But, for flashing aosp ROMs, sidestepping the jb modem issue does save a step, so for that purpose, I'd still go with the fl24 one click. In my opinion and for my purposes. So again, sorry for my cheeky-ass post.

I don't know how many times I was hugged... Who cares? Some people do like me and some don't, because I am brutally honest 95% of the time. When a user offers advice that is lacking or more work than what needs to be done, I tend to let them know how dumb it is and I have no problem doing it. For starters you can use this gb kernel that will directly boot into cwm (won't boot system until something is flashed over it) : here
Then I suggest reading about some of the options available to kernel/recoveries that are safe to use to wipe/backup/restore once in ICS.
New and Need Your Help. Thank you.
Hello. I am brand new to this, but can follow directions really well. I Rooted my Galaxy S II EL29 w/o a problem and followed the directions here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229... to get a ROM version of ICS.
Now, my questions are (After searching through the forum for two days):
What is the BEST and SAFEST way to try and install other leaked ROMs?
I currently have 'Android system recovery <3e>'. Do you recommend something better or stick with what I have?
Also, Which ROM do you believe is the best one that comes close (w/o bugs) to the latest ICS/Jelly Bean?
P.S. ~ How can I add Beats Audio after flashing a ROM?
Thank you in advance for your prompt replies.
So you have stock rooted FF18 Rom and kernel now. You need a kernel with custom recovery to flash anything. The safest way is to go to sfhub's thread where you got ICS tar file and click on the Auto Root link in that thread. That will tell you how to add Clockwork Mod recovery to the setup you have now. It's a script you run on your pc with the phone plugged in. Pretty easy and he explains it pretty thoroughly. After you have CWM, good idea to boot into recovery and backup your phone before you go any further. Hold volume up and power at the same time and hold them until you are in recovery mode. Select backup and let it run.
Once you've done that and want to get on another ICS Rom, flash Calkulin's format all zip made especially for this phone. It will wipe everything except your sd card in the proper order and has never bricked a phone as far as I know. It will clear all your apps and data the same way flashing the FF18 tar file did so you'll have to reinstall all your apps. Get it here.
http://db.tt/sUM1uH72
When the format all its done, flash your new Rom. Wicked Sensations and Agat63's Rom are a couple of my favorites but there are several I haven't tested yet. If you want to try AOKP roms or Cyanogen Mod, better do more reading. They are different animals than the Touchwiz based roms so you have to know what you are doing with the recoveries on those.
We don't have jelly bean for this phone yet and I can't help you with beats audio except I think a couple of Mijjah's roms might have it built in. I don't think you can flash it on top of a Rom but I could be wrong. Good luck
Edit: Wicked Sensations was just updated and has a few elements from jelly bean in it. I plan on trying out over the weekend
I'll second Agats rom as a rock solid product... I also really like m'ics lately.

What do you suggest... Thank you.
Hello and thank you for your response.
After waiting awhile for a response decided to read and read and read more. Basically doing some more research so I DO NOT BRICK my mobile phone.
This is what I did... I flashed back to EL29 Rooted, installed Clockwork Mod recovery, and installed Team VeNuM Blue Boa v0.2. Everything seems to work fine. I did find and installed 'Beats Audio Mod' an hour ago. Oh yeah, I did do a Backup right after installing CWM.
Now, is it SAFE to flash another ICS ROM, like Wicked Sensations or Agat63's ROM, after flashing Calkulin's Format All Zip? QBKING77 stated that he recommends going back to Ginger Bread and installing CWM before flashing another ICS. He does not recommend going from ICS to ICS. What do you think about that? Also, can you send me the links that has the instructions to install the ROMS you like? Thank you.
You are doing things right by reading up and waiting until you are confident you know what to do. That's why I am more than willing to help. This stuff has all been covered but there are still plenty of new people who are tired of waiting for ICS rooting this phone recently. The Odin method QBking describes IS the safest way and I did it that way quite a few times when the leaks became available. It involves more steps and you need your pc. Since you already know how to use Odin maybe you would feel safer doing it that way. However, many of us have used the format all zip to switch ICS roms and its been done probably thousands of times with no problems. Never heard of a brick yet using it. Also keep in mind most of the custom roms such as Boa already have a custom recovery built in so you won't have to keep using Auto Root to add CWM. Good job
Hi all!
Brand new to this device, I'm currently running EL29, rooted... but do not have CWM installed.
I would like to install an ICS rom, not the official 18 rom, but something like AOKP.
Problem is I'm confused as how to avoid bricking my phone and would love confirmation of my thoughts.
If I use CWM to install any ICS Rom, I should be fine flashing another as long as I ODEN back to EL29 first, THEN reinstall CWM and then flash another ICS rom, correct?
Thanks!!!

As long as the CWM you are talking about is EL29+CWM (or any GB-based CWM) that would work fine.
However, now that we know the trigger points there are more efficient ways of flashing.
I suggest you just read carefully the instructions for any ROM you are flashing and follow them closely. If you do that, you'll be fine.

Thanks sfhub! Although new to this phone, I'm very well aware of your contributions to the Epic Touch and very much appreciate taking the time to respond to my question!
I'm only really interested in flashing AOKP, so I will install the CWM for EL29, then flash AOKP and if need to ever return to EL29 simply use one your packs to flash via ODIN and return to stock.
Thanks again!
I guess I do have another question... when using the zimage installer application, EL29 only presents me with CWM-Rogue for the option... but I've read that CWM and CWM-Rogue are two different things.
Is it safe to use CWM-Rogue to flash ICS roms? Or has it been demonstrated as dangerous?
Thanks everyone!!!
With the new source kernel and now Chris's ICS based CWM kernel, it should be alot less intimidating

CWM-Rogue is safe if its based on EL29 or older but in order to install AOKP you need stock CWM. So look for chris41g EL26 with CWM or EL29 that boots straight to CMW and as long as you use either of those you should be safe.

EL29+CWM-Rogue is fine. If you want, Auto Root has the option to install EL26+CWM, which is the last CWM repack chris41g released on GB.
There was some concern before we understood the nature of the superbrick situation, but we have a better understanding now so you can use either.
I don't believe AOKP/CM9 require EL26+CWM, my recollection is folks switched to EL26+CWM when we didn't know the cause. The install script itself isn't interpreted by the Recovery, it is done by the update-binary executable included with the ROM.
In any event, both EL26+CWM and EL29+CWM-Rogue are included in the Auto Root package for you to choose. It is only being used temporarily for the install as the ROM install is going to overwrite it.
As long as you know what you're doing, and follow directions, it's actually quite easy to accomplish. I recommend The Blu Kuban if you're wondering about a good rom to flash, it looks great, and runs great too, by far my favorite rom so far.
I'm actually extremely glad that you created this thread. I'm in your exact same situation and this helped me a lot

If you are new at this, its best to go with something close to stock like sfhubs stock kernel and rom or data josh's rom. All of team rejectz roms are based off stock TW. So they are all safe to flash. If aokp is what you need then Times infinity has a great aokp rom. Just like sfhub said, make sure you follow the OP and you should be fine. Also my rom .. The supernova rom might be what you need.. Try them All.
I tried to install several ROMs last night with no luck. I just couldn't figure something out i guess. I watched the out of date videos from qbking77 and still couldn't get it. So i was looking to download something like blu kuban. So I did and couldn't get it to flash for some reason. I was trying to do it with el29 root with cwm rogue then stock and neither worked. I downloaded the first link and it didn't seem right do I need to rename it or something like when I updated manually to ff18?. Not sure if I didn't put in the right folder or what. I had it in the external sd and the internal. Then that zip file I downloaded installed when i did it on el29 root with stock recovery and it installed the stock ff18 build. I'm lost any info would be greatly appreciated I would really love to get some custom roms installed someday. So for now I'm back on ff18 stock.

Are you rooted? If not you will need to root first. If I were you I would download sfhub's auto root tool. You can use that to root FF18, if you aren't rooted already, and install cwm. After that you should be able to flash FF18 roms. It doesn't matter where you store the roms. If that still doesn't work you might try downloading the rom again to make sure it isn't corrupt.
I'm not currently rooted but I will root and then i just need cwm rogue or stock? I guess I will try rogue first. Then I just download the file which is only one now I believe. Maybe I will try a mirror file since the first one didn't work? This is what i did before from el29 rooted with cwm. Maybe it was the file I'm going to go back to el29 again and download the file again and try since you aren't supposed to flash ics from an ics roms far as I know.

As crawrj was saying, its a multiple step process.
The link they provided had all the details on how to get to ff18 root (and since you said you were already ff18 stock, use the no data one click) then apply the autoroot for ff18 + cwm. All is in the op. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27635571
Then you will need to follow the OP for the kuban that rujelus22 has written, which includes videos by qbking77, on getting everything setup. It too, is a multi step process.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25448865

One way to check the downloaded file is checking md5. Easy to find and use.
Did you download via phone or PC? Its recommended to download via PC.
And Kuban is top notch, although i run another rom, Wicked Sensations. But its all a matter of taste and what you like what the dev has done. Not an easy question to answer.
I bet if you ask for help getting the Kuban rom up and running in rejules thread, you'll find a lot of helpful people there.

Looks like you're very new here and headed for making an expensive paperweight.
Please take some time to read through the forum stickies and how tos. And read through them thoroughly and throug all the posts in those threads.
Seriously not trying to be a **** but you will learn how this phone is built/configured and how to make the modifications you desire.
Loads and loads of reading and patience will save you a whole lot of time and trouble.
OK now to start
As was said already
Grab sfhub's One-click and follow the very well written instructions and flash the 'no data' version to you phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
That will give you a stock rooted FF18 ROM (and FF18 modem too).
Now you will want to add clockworkmod (CWM) so use sfhub's Autoroot Package [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728 ] and to install FF18+CWM-agat-src
This will now give you stock rooted FF18 and a 'safe' custom recovery (Agat's CWM).
I suggest you run this for a day or two and do some of that reading. Patience and education are invaluable here.
Then
You can then go and check out rujelus22's thread and follow his very explicit instructions for flashing The Blue Kuban http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625535
Good luck and welcome to the community.

Okay What I was doing wrong was not transferring the zip file incorrectly. I kept clicking on the zip instead of taking the whole file when I was transferring onto my sd card! Thank you so much for your time and I've been reading for the last two days. I am very new and know about the emmc bug and everything though. Thank you guys again for your time.

Glad to see you got it. Lurking, learning and reading can only be of a huge benefit to you. There is a sh$t load of stuff to learn about how this device is partitioned and laid out vs some others. Some of the terminologies are different too - ie. modem = radio in some others. And the bricking thing too.
Hope all works out. Once you get a handle on using the custom recoveries and making and restoring backups you can then flash a bunch of different ROMs and try them on for size.
There are so many highly polished (read everything working) very good ones here it really comes down to what works for you and what your styling preference is.
Have fun.
