I run rogue recovery and decided to give Blu Kuban fe10 1.0.3.9 a chance. Looks sharps and behaves well. Here is my issue. If my screen shuts off or if I hit the power button to kill the screen, I have roughly two seconds to hit the button again to get the screen to come up. If not, it stays black and about 20 seconds later, it shuts off.
Any Ideas? I read through the majority of the 428+ pages on the ROM but have found nothing. Really like the ROM but having to power on my phone to use it...no beuno.
I'm running the ROM on fe22.
I haven't heard of an issue like that yet. Have you played with the screen settings by any chance? Maybe go in and set to default, worth a shot. Of not that and it were me, Odin back to el29, download the rom again and start fresh.

Yeah, like the poster said above me I would redownload and reflash the ROM. You could have just had a bad flash since I believe your the only person with this issue. Also obviously make sure you do a full wipe before flashing.
Good luck
Running odin now.
Should I find another source for blu kuban or go ahead and try the one on my sd card?
Diffenitely download it again. Could be as simple as a faulty download. Happened to me before as well.

I started with an older version of Blu Kuban and it worked flawlessly (screen wise) but my browser wouldn't connect. Online apps worked, but no browser. I started all over with a new version and now the screen is giving me problems.
Any other suggestions?

Delete the old version you have on your sd card so you don't get them confused.
Download the full version of 1.0.4.0 to your computer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625535
Move it to your sd card.
Make sure you also have Calkulin's format_all on your sd card. It's at the bottom of the OP, in his signature.

Reboot to recovery.
Make a back up of your current set up.
Flash format_all
Flash the full ROM
Reboot and go to the ROM Updater, grab part 2 from *put things back to stock*
Reboot to recovery
Flash part 2
Reboot and enjoy

Make sure you freeze the update checker from titanium backup our you would have to go through this again

Guys team vennum has a script that prevents updates in Development and I believe there is an apk called FOTA.apk that you put in your system/app folder and prevents updates
This ROM is completely stock with exception of root/busybox added.
Big thanks to sfhub for posting ODIN tar files.
All I did is pulling system from my phone after flashing it via ODIN and make a flashable zip for those of you who prefers zip files.
Rom must be flashed through CWM and it has stock FD16 kernel so you will loose custom recovery.
Stock FD19 can be downloaded here:

Stock FD19 Deodexed rom can be downloaded here:
http://d-h.st/CFX
Stock FD19 kernel:

FD19 Modem:

If you want to keep CWM recovery here is link for FD02 repacked kernel:
http://d-h.st/nK4 FD02 repacked with CWM recovery.
Flash it after rom before you boot to system.
All zip files to flashed in CWM recovery.
Thanks to RainMotorsport we have another mirror for this rom.

RainMotorsports.net Mirror - Stock FD19 Rom Deodexed Zip
RainMotorsports.net Mirror - FD19 Modem CWM Zip

So call your self about three times. On my phone on any ICS build it was hard for me to reproduce the bug, I would literally have to call my self three or more times to get it to happen. So call yourself three times in a row and hang up and hit back immediately.
The other ways to repro is to send a message during a call read the message and hang up the other phone with the message app open. This would do it for me sometimes. The other way is to call someone and send a txt then go back to the dialer hang up and hit back.
So the score right now is
repro = 1
no repro = 1

That makes more sense. I think it has always been easier for some phones to hit the bug than others.
I flashed this rom and kept my EL29 kernel. Does that mean in order to get this Rom and get my CWM recovery back I have to reset my phone to stock and start all over again with the EL26? Also, is the swype keyboard in the rapps, and how do i get the face unlock to work?
When you flashed Frankenstein rom, your kernel changed to the FE21 kernel included with the rom so not sure what you mean by you kept el29 kernel since that's not compatible with ICS. The reason you have stock android recovery now is because of all the bricking issues performing certain functions in custom ICS recovery so devs are leaving out custom recovery from their roms. So yes, when you want to change roms, backup, etc., you must go back to the el26 cwm kernel first and flash, backup, etc. from there. Not sure about your last two questions since I'm not using that rom. Let me know if you need anything else.

Not to sure what you mean by that. If you're saying what I think you're saying, yes you must use el26 cwm kernel whenever flashing anything ICS related or backing up or restoring. Using anything else and you risk bricking your phone.

Slick_rick is correct, as far as Swype i just sign up for the Swype beta from you phone browser to get a download for it, that way i always have it to restore with titanium so i can get Swype on any rom. There's also some Swype keyboards floating around in the app section but i haven't tried them. They should work though.

Wow... I needed this thread. I just recently went through what I thought were all the instructions to flash this rom. I had previously used the PD Odin executable routine to upgrade from Gingerbread to ICS. I saw the reviews on this rom and really liked what I saw. I used Odin 1.85 to set up CWM-El26 so I could flash this ROM. I got everything working ( I do get that yellow triangle on reboots) but I did notice the CWMod Recovery does not stay on the phone. It reverts back to the basic ICS Recovery (where I GUESS you cannot flash zip files). Now all this said... After flashing this ROM, I am still on FE16. Is there something else I am missing.
I got into rooting when I had my Dinosaur Moment, and now I have that itch again. Thanks again for all your help!

Swype is in the removed apps. You have to Unknown Sources checked under device administration. You can mount your phone, add the swype.apk file to the phone, and install it using the astro file manager. I still go back and forth between swype and the stock ICS keyboard. Word prediction seems to work better in the stock.

Oh well your cwm recovery disappeared because it wasnt packed into the kernel that came with the rom you flashed. And you can get rid of the yellow triangle using a USB jig or an app called triangle away. Just Google search something like "triangle away apk+chainfire+xda" and you should be able to find it.

Hey... I hit the thank button but I got the triangle away and it worked like a charm! Thanks again. Maybe they can get the CWM 5.0.2.7 to stay packaged in the ROM setups in the future!
so i tried to redo this flash with the el26 kernel. but then my phone started acting crazy, telling me that the calendar storage stopped working. finally after putting frankenstein back on my phone, it stopped coming up. the only problem im experiencing now is that i cant download pics in my text messaging. but i can use my 3g, 4g, and wifi for everything else. I dunno if this is because im in PR or because i messed something up. Please give me some feedback if you know anything
You started up with el26? That will never work with this rom. You need an ics kernel.

Hmmh...i only ever do el26 never el29. I'm not sure what happened then. You are correct if you flashed the ROM it is ics. It must have been a bad flash or a bad download as well, sorry.

Epic Touch Blog: Temporary Stock E4GT from emmc
Utility for CM9 Epic Touch
This is a temporary ROM that boots Samsung's Gingerbread EL29 firmware entirely from emmc without making any changes to the ROM currently installed on your phone. When you reboot, you return to recovery where you can re-flash the ROM to return to CM9. This temporary ROM is useful for several purposes.
Update Profile.
Update PRL.
Sprint Activation.
Dial codes and diagnostic mode.
This should be helpful to users of any AOSP-based ROM including CM9, AOKP, etc.

Its for AOSP roms. You currently can't update PRL/Profile, activate your device, or use dialer codes on them so this temporarily allows you to boot stock el29 off the SD card without changing your current rom. You can do what i said from there. Saves you time from doing backups, restoring, etc.

1. I have everything extracted to emmc as directed.
2. I flashed directboot CWM utilizing mobile odin which correctly booted me into CWM version 5.0.2.7
3. I flashed boot_EL29.zip at location /emmc/multiboot/EL29 and received the following messages that appear to be correct.
Finding Update Package...Opening Update Package...Installing Update...Boot /emmc/multiboot/EL29/zImageCreate mount symlink.Remount partitions read-only.(Re)mount /emmc read-only.Unpack kexec.Load zImage and initramfs.Sync.Reboot into zImage.Install from sdcard complete.4. At this point I expected the phone to reboot into the temporary rom; however, it just shows the standard recovery menu. No reboot occured.
5. Because no automatic reboot occured, I selected "reboot system now" from CWM. Unfortunately this just brings me back into directboot CWM.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.
I am having the same problem I thought it could have been the downloading or unpacking so I downloaded it again and unpacked it and still have the same problem.

This sounds pretty cool and I would like to test it... what I don't understand is when I'm done with the temp rom, how do I get back to AOKP? Do I need to reflash the whole AOKP rom? Just the kernel?

When done updating prl/profile, etc. Just reboot your phone and it will take you back to cwm recovery. From there you can either just reflash the rom or just a compatible kernel so it boots.

Link: Dualboot CM9-on-EMMC for Sprint SGS3
The CM developers are rapidly fixing bugs in the CM9 nightly builds, however it might be a while before CM9 is dependable as a daily driver. Thus Team Epic has created this toolkit of CM9-on-EMMC and FakeCWM to allow both developers and testers to rapidly test standard CM9 .zip's. The phone's standard ROM and kernel are intact so you have a stable ROM to fallback on.
The alternate ROM is stored in /sdcard/multiboot/CM9 of the "internal sdcard" storage. Booting the alternate ROM is temporary. Reboot the phone to return to the standard ROM.
FakeCWM Recovery is used to install, upgrade, and manage CM9-on-EMMC.
If there is demand, we can adapt this CM9-on-EMMC method for other SGS3 LTE variants.
Follow Sprint SGS3 CM on Google+ for the latest development news relevant to this phone.

Thank you thank you thank you!
EDIT: will this work with the newest versions of CWM? Such as CWM Touch 5.8.x.x?

Unclear. It might only work with CWM that has a kexec enabled kernel.

That's what I was thinking. Ah well, it'll be worth using whatever recovery necessary to have the ability to dual boot!
EDIT: Got it up and running. Very nice! Thanks again!
EDIT 2: While restoring from titanium backup the app keeps freezing. I went to the Play store to try and download the apps that wouldn't restore and received an error message saying there was insufficient space. Can you make the data.img larger?
This is BAD @SS
Awesome!
*ninja edit: THNX to the kexec tools above, this CM9 is purring along nicely!
Gr8 set of instructions, no major hiccups so far......SMS/data/phone/email/play$tore/downloads/camera/[email protected], feels good to me!
fun fun fun...........really awesome bit o'
work w/ this, bbelos + mkasick, looking forward to running this awhile as it appears to be pretty solid for a first release on the S3!
just awesome sauce!

mlin, looking at your avatar, I keep thinking/hoping you'll say, "excelleeent" But no, in all seriousness dualboot is excellent! I can't wait to try it.
Not using this, but very cool.
Really cool cant wait for it to be my daily rom!!!
This is really cool, but IMO the nightly is already mature enough to be used as a daily as long as you can handle a few quirks. Way more stable than some alpha/beta stuff I've used before -- even roms based on stock (which is really sad when you think about it.) Amazing how much progress Team Epic has made so far!

Agreed, running good for past few hours, well worth it for its safe kexec nature, super responsible approach to testing as well.

Try it, you won't be disappointed.
I put the setup zip in root of internal sd. Flashed it. Flashed boot into fake cwm. But it did didn't reboot into red cwm. Is this supposed to to happen automatically? Did I do something wrong?

I had the same problem. Even though I was running a 5+ CWM recovery, it wouldnt work for me. I just flashed the CWM recovery referenced at the beginning of the guide. After flashing it, it worked just fine. Give it a try.

That's the cwm that I used at first to obtain root. I'll try again though.

Another thing you can try if fake Red CWM isn't auto-booting: reboot to system, power off + reboot to CWMv5.......flash multi boot file, it'll show the files already configured, then flash fake Red CWM.
Now you can flash your CM9 Nightly (flash GApps0429.zip immediately after for best results.)

You'll notice the Fakecwm has a reduced menu for your safety. This includes no backups/restores until we can properly implement the auto mounting/unmounting of the true internal sdcard.
