I've tried many solutions, I completely wiped and reflashed different roms. I've also repartitioned my SD (doubt that would do much) .
and still my button's wont work.
Has there been reports of physically damaged bottom buttons? I see no damage whatsoever also lights up perfectly.
Just an idea!
Please help me, its the only phone I currently have in my apartment. Any help or suggestions would be amazing thank you !
Only thing I can think of if there is no damage to the digitizer part would be damage to the ribbon cable that connects the digitizer to the rest of the phone.

That's what I was thinking... is it difficult to open the phone up ? or is very sophisticated with the amount of screws?
Dude I had/have the same issue. I opened up my phone and put it back together. It started working better now. But whenever it stops working momentarily I just lock and unlock the screen.
there is a seperate flex cable for the buttons, it could be this or it could be the digitizer, either way relativley cheap and easy to replace. you can't always see the problem so just opening it up and looking may not tell you the problem.
but like strawmetal said, if there is some corrision on the contact points or some other intermediate problem, just opening the phone, disconecting it, cleaning things up, and putting it back together may fix your issues

Came down to once yesterday. Earlier I even had a thin horizontal strip on the screen where touch wouldn't work. I had a tough time accepting/canceling dialog boxes. This is no longer an issue. Hope the bottom capacitatives don't show any more problems today. Then I'll be back onto the rooted side of android.

EDIT: I got a lot of ghost activity on myscreen today. Fixed by lock and unlock but goes back to ghosting in a minute.
Today I didn't have any issues, phone was working normally, no unresponsive screen at all, capacitive buttons also worked well. It is puzzling...

Hey Everyone,
My LCD screen seems to not be displaying colors as well as it should, almost as if it isn't displaying all the colors that it is in fact capable of...
I had some prior problems with my phone, including a non-functional power button, a digitizer with some unresponsive blind spots along the left and right side of the screen, and a very faint/low volume through the in-call speaker.
I had been planning to go inside my phone using the teardown/repair guide, and actually ended up stripping my phone down to the LCD panel.
The good news is I have fixed all the problems that I had set out to fix while doing the teardown.
HOWEVER, my screen is now a weird teal/blue color. For example, when I equip the standard HTC skin (the one with the nice colorful bubble background) Instead of the notification bar/button being a solid steel gray, they seem to have striping pattern with some dull colors of gray but with this teal coloration.
I was wondering if it is more likely something to do with the pcb/lcd getting slightly damaged when I did the teardown, or is it possible it is something to do with a setting on my phone? (the boot screen did load up once, when I was doing the teardown and checking if my phone still worked, I chose reboot as the option)
HELP!
Well more then likely it is the conectors I've seen it to many times when people dicide to take apart phones id say take it all apart and make sure your cabbles are plugged in nice and and firm report back and tell me. Also make sure you havnt nicked anythng on the pcb boards (traces or anything) no nicked cords ect

Same thing happening with mine, it's a week old and I've never taken it apart.
Only thing i can think of that happened that makes sense is a damaged pcb flex cable, thats it.but the weird thing is i fixed everything else. Its annoying cause videos look wack and taking photos is also messed. Ill probably go back into my phone and see what i can do, ive opened it like 8 times so wont be too hard.

Just wonderening if anyone found a solution to this problem as I am experiencing the same thing. I have never taken my phone apart. I have my own post called display color problems. Please help! This is absolutely obnoxious!
I sent mine back to Bell for repair. Took 2 weeks, don't know what they did but it works great now.
Was that an expensive repair? Wish I knew what the problem was so I could try to fix it myself.

Is your phone not under warranty? If it's because you rooted it, you can relock the phone with gfree and restore the BellMobility RUU...
Yeah I guess I could but I really can't go two weeks with no phone. That's the main problem.

Figured I'd give this thread a bump. Really just hoping that someone out there has some experience with this problem. I've searched the net high and low to no avail. I don't want to waste money on unnecessary parts if I just need one. Presently, I plan on replacing my LCD. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them...
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
This happened to me before i first opened up my phone. I wouldn't replace the LCD because i cracked mine, and had to replace it and it still does it. Just try and get a replacement phone from your carrier or the store from which you bought it while they fix it. Easiest option.
A relative of mine also owns a G2 but recently they experienced a weird issue. They just picked up the phone just to see that the screen went bad. Wasn't in the process of flashing anything. The phone ran CM7.0.2 for the longest time. It was all black with a white line running across the screen and the capacitive buttons are stilll lit. After a week or so, the white line disappeared and its just a black screen now.
There's no water damage as it went nowhere near water and the water damage indicator is still white. Could the screen be broken? A loose connector? Any help?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
I don't know much about the g2 but try and enter the bootloaders. If they come up then its programming. Something like that happened to my hd2 cuz a bad flash.
If they don't then its prob the screen.

if it ran a long time i would guess a hardware failure (if it doesnt even show up bootloader)
so you need to replace the display.
does the display even initialize when powering up the phone?
when switching the phone on you see its "switching" from black to dark gray (lighter black as it is when powered off)
cause if it doesnt even get power, it could be something on the phone too which doesnt give (enough?) power to the display...
Yeah. but I'd take it apart if u know how just to check

Try to connect with adb just to make sure your phone is still working before you spend money on a screen. Unless it rings when you call it or something.

Hi friends, from last week am facing a display issue in my desire z mobile. The display changes the colors when ever i unmask the KB or sometimes even when it masked... when i googled for this problem i came to know that the ribbon cable is loose. so i decided to open the mobile and reconnect the cable. I did everything perfectly, but when i repaired and turned on the mobile , the screen is black.. only after rebooting (by hearing the welcome tone) my menu keys start lighting and by pressing the power key my screen turns on. Even i cant see the boot loader page ..
I think this could be a software issue, but i dont know how operating with the hardware can mess up the software
Friends please guide me
Something is up with the ribbon cable either it came loose again when u were putting back together or its broken.
I actually fixed mine today, it was wearing through the black outer part and was making the screen jump during scrolling and long pressing when only tapping.
I fixed it with a small piece of electrical tape placed over the exposed part. I guess it grounds out once it becomes exposed.
U only have to remove the mother board from the phone to really see most of it.
What exactly did u do? Is there an exposed part of the ribbon from wear and tear?

there is no physical damage in the ribbon, even i saw the whole connection of the ribbon... no physical damage.
But now, after reconnecting the parts i got another problem to... i cant see any boot animation and boot screen... when i start the mobile it remains black screen and only after hearing the boot tone, again by pressin the power button the screen turns on.. till that the screen is black.. dont know what to do .

Sorry use a cotton swap dipped in the alcohol to clean the connector on the cable and mother board.
Does the phone have a custom recovery? If so what happens when u boot into it?

no it doesnt have any custom recovery. first i come across the screen colour fault, so i rerooted my phone to claim warranty, but unfortunatly i was not able to claim the warranty. so i felt to open the mobile myself and tight the ribbon. After attempting this repair now new problem araised ie i cant even see the bootloader page and boot animation.. but the phone is working fine..
whenever i turn on the mobile the black screen remains , then i will here boot tone then my soft key lights will lighten, then i will press power butto, then my lock screen will pop up. this is my situation.
Dont know what to do
First let me try your cleaning option, but could you advice me something other than the alcohol ?
Alcohol is the best cuz its sterilizes and dries fast. U don't need to soak it just to get the cotton swab wet and shake off excess and dab it on the connections. If u rub it might get cotton stuck. U could also use a keyboard dust blaster or some kind of compressed air to blast away any particles.
The main thing is to make sure u connectors are down all the way and not to have any tension while putting it back together.
If u separate both halves of the phone make sure u connect to the back of the motherboard after u have tightened down the brackets that keep the two pieces together.
Are u trying to avoid having to remove the sticker while loosening the motherboard?

dont know what to do. Its just a 3 month mobile, cant lose it
Ur doing something wrong all ur problems has to do with the cable. That cable connects the screen to the motherboard

yes i think i have to replace the cable, but now i think i damaged the digitizer too..so i have to change both the ribbon cable and digitizer.
but i dont know why i cant see the bootloader and the boot animation.

as i want to root my mobile again i need the bootloader page, guys please help me on this
then anyone having a desire z for sales?? (2nd hand sales ?)
I would probably just replace the ribbon cable before doing anything else digitizer is tied into the ribbon cable as well.

when i'm taking picture with HDR option selected

I too had the same issue.. I think the HDR option is not working in that ROM, so you better turn off the HDR.
I apologize for my english, i'm french..
I've the same problem. After a 1 meter-fall, it fell to the ground flat. Since, it doesn't work.
When i press the power button, the phone seems to start : vibration, and the sensitives touchs light. But i can't see anything on the screen, it stay black...
Do you think it can be the LCD screen to repair or the ribon cable ? If it was the ribbon cable, the sensitves touchs didn't turn on, don't you think ?
Thanks for your help, and again i'm sorry for my basic english..!

We cant guess it without testing. In my case i first faced problems regarding ribbon cable and slowly the prob builds up and now my screen is full back. But in your case it is most likely to be the lcd part.
So, better you make a test about it by swapping it into another phone or so..
then one more thing, even if the ribbon cable fails some part of it may work like sensitive light and touch..
I had the same problem. Just get the cable replaced.
Hi everyone,
I am using htc one x for over two months now, and recently i have noticed that my lcd is not working correctly.
I am using arhd 31.1 now, and before that i have been using arhd 31.0, and so on and so on...
This error happened when i installed arhd 31.0, but i tought that it was the rom problem so updated my phone to arhd 31.1. And problem still persists.
The problem is following, part of my lcd display does not recognize gestures, or touches or any other input, it is like that part of lcd or digitizer is dead, i cant do nothing in that area.
Picture explaining problem more precisely and effectivly is in attachment, those lines you see should be continous.
So what do you guys think this is? I am really pissed and you cannnot imagine how much this is annoying :/
Is this hardware problem or something else? Just so you know my phone never dropped, and it was never punched or anything.

I hope i helped and if you have any questions ask me.
And sorry for my BAD english!
I'll start by saying I don't have a whole lot of specifics on the issue as this isn't currently my phone. I'm looking to buy one and the seller said that one morning the phone would sporadically not respond to touch and by the end of the day wouldn't respond at all. She said that sometimes if she repeatedly locks and unlocks the phone it will work for a short time before becoming unresponsive again. She says there has been no water damage and she hasn't done any sort of software updates recently. She did say that a couple weeks before the issue started that it fell off her night stand but didn't seem to effect it at the time.
My question is has anyone run into this issue before? If so is it a software issue that could be remedied by doing a full wipe back to stock software? Or is it a hardware issue such as a bad digitizer or maybe something as simple as the digitizer cable coming loose?
I did some googling and the only thing I found about this issue was a result of flashing the wrong ROM to the s3. Any help would be appreciated.

Forgot to mention it but I pulled the back off and checked the ribbon cable. Removed and reseated it as well as made sure it wasn't corroded. Still a no go but on the bright side I found a nicely priced "blemished" screen on eBay so in a couple weeks I should be rocking the s3! And I'm glad to be in these forums. If blemished means lightly scuffed just use some glass cleaner on it in a small coat, buddy of mine did that with his iPhone looked brand new.
& yep lol, soo many choices for ROMs and kernels for this phone, gotta love it :good:
So I got bored and disassembled and cleaned the connections on the board as well as the connections on the back of the screen. After reassembling it I get response from the touch screen again although its as though there's a phantom finger making random movements on the screen.

Making the iPhone jealous one user at a time.
So I guess it was just a bad digitizer. Just got my new one and got it swapped out and I'm good as new! Though if anyone else is looking to replace a screen and aren't too brave when it comes to taking a phone apart I would suggest getting a screen that has the frame already attached to it. Removing the screen from the frame and reattaching is a bit tricky.
