Hey Everyone,
My LCD screen seems to not be displaying colors as well as it should, almost as if it isn't displaying all the colors that it is in fact capable of...
I had some prior problems with my phone, including a non-functional power button, a digitizer with some unresponsive blind spots along the left and right side of the screen, and a very faint/low volume through the in-call speaker.
I had been planning to go inside my phone using the teardown/repair guide, and actually ended up stripping my phone down to the LCD panel.
The good news is I have fixed all the problems that I had set out to fix while doing the teardown.
HOWEVER, my screen is now a weird teal/blue color. For example, when I equip the standard HTC skin (the one with the nice colorful bubble background) Instead of the notification bar/button being a solid steel gray, they seem to have striping pattern with some dull colors of gray but with this teal coloration.
I was wondering if it is more likely something to do with the pcb/lcd getting slightly damaged when I did the teardown, or is it possible it is something to do with a setting on my phone? (the boot screen did load up once, when I was doing the teardown and checking if my phone still worked, I chose reboot as the option)
HELP!
Well more then likely it is the conectors I've seen it to many times when people dicide to take apart phones id say take it all apart and make sure your cabbles are plugged in nice and and firm report back and tell me. Also make sure you havnt nicked anythng on the pcb boards (traces or anything) no nicked cords ect

Same thing happening with mine, it's a week old and I've never taken it apart.
Only thing i can think of that happened that makes sense is a damaged pcb flex cable, thats it.but the weird thing is i fixed everything else. Its annoying cause videos look wack and taking photos is also messed. Ill probably go back into my phone and see what i can do, ive opened it like 8 times so wont be too hard.

Just wonderening if anyone found a solution to this problem as I am experiencing the same thing. I have never taken my phone apart. I have my own post called display color problems. Please help! This is absolutely obnoxious!
I sent mine back to Bell for repair. Took 2 weeks, don't know what they did but it works great now.
Was that an expensive repair? Wish I knew what the problem was so I could try to fix it myself.

Actually it was covered under warranty so cost me nothing.
Well thanks anyway.

Is your phone not under warranty? If it's because you rooted it, you can relock the phone with gfree and restore the BellMobility RUU...
Yeah I guess I could but I really can't go two weeks with no phone. That's the main problem.

Figured I'd give this thread a bump. Really just hoping that someone out there has some experience with this problem. I've searched the net high and low to no avail. I don't want to waste money on unnecessary parts if I just need one. Presently, I plan on replacing my LCD. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them...

This happened to me before i first opened up my phone. I wouldn't replace the LCD because i cracked mine, and had to replace it and it still does it. Just try and get a replacement phone from your carrier or the store from which you bought it while they fix it. Easiest option.

My camera LED just burnt out. I was messing around with the torch app and the light started flickering about 30 seconds after I turned it on. I tried a reboot and different apps that use the LED and I get the same issue with all of them.
I've tried searching google, amazon, and ebay for replacement LEDs and I haven't found anything. I figure it's a standard little bulb I can just replace relatively easily, but I don't know how to open up the phone to get to it and I don't know what to buy exactly.
Any help would be appreciated. I do make use of the light pretty often. I can't replace the phone since I bought it used and this is the only real issue that it has.

Have you tried throwing the phone off a cliff?
Let us know how this turns out!
How what turns out, throwing the phone off a cliff? Replacing the flash requires removing 3 screws and little more. Once the back case is off it is right there and it pops right out

or you could do the cool thing and solder on a new more powerful led, that would be a sick mod

Are there any videos? I'm afraid of really messing things up. The LED does seem to come with the tools I would need, so I'm glad for that
Youtube should be full of videos, the led is one of the easiest things to replace on this phone, super hard to mess up. Just look for any replacement (digitizer, lcd, etc) one of the first steps should be to take out the led

How did your replacement go? I've just ordered the kit from eBay.
I love my G2.
But now I know to reserve the flashlight function for emergencies
I got my phone the other week and after 2 hours of using it I noticed a strange behaviour.... I had a horizontal band in the middle of the screen that would not response to touch.
Since then I contacted my carrier to send me a new one, and of course they delay me with all the madness of black friday and "Orange black week" but I should get a new phone sometimes next week.
In the meantime I noticed something, at some point the touchscreen woked, I started to question myself why does this happen? I read a few posts on the internet about this and tested some things for myself and I got the point where if I rub the phone against my wool coat the touchscreen would start working, although when it works it somehow overloads and no touch input is registered until I turn off and on the screen. Obviously when I rub it on my coat the touchscreen get electrostatically charged which somehow makes it's "wheels" turn.
This happens everytime I restart the phone and after some time of sitting idle.
This is really weird behaviour, I'm certain it's a hardware fault, can something be done, a final solution? Rather than constantly rubbing my phone on my coat? (it looks weird ).
Try recalibrate, in keyboard settings - advance or choose reset calibration.
I have dead spots at the sides, if I use a drawing app and try to draw a line from left to right of the screen, it don't actually go to the edges.
I'm kinda hoping its just a calibration problem that'll go away in a future update, if not I'll send it in.
It's kinda annoying not being able to skip flash video using the bottom slider/progress bar, first halve works, but then gets more difficult further than halfway.

My dead spot looks like this. It s about 20% of screen setate.

Did you try the calibrate option?
If it don't help then I guess its hardware and time for warranty maybe.
It helped me a little, but I still got small area's, smaller than before.

I got the exact same problem with an idevice earlier this year. Hardware fault nothing to do with calibration or software. Better send in for repair ASAP.

Yes, Wednesday I made a request for a new unit, should be here on Monday Tuesday, hopefully
This was mine after changing display. So I changed the display with another one, and now there are no problems. Got a refund for the defective one. The dead spot only occured 1 or 2 times in the week I had the faulty display.

What should be the cost
Hi,
I have the same problem, is it worthwhile to send for repair, or I may buy a new one?
One is the expected cost of the repair of replacing the defected hardware?
here is my solution

put a piece of paper like the picture below. It fixed mine. Hope it fix yours.
Do you have any explanations why is it fixing it?
for some reason just in a sudden my wildfire has lots of scanlines. it seems asif the lines, which are horozontal btw, are with a pixel space distance from eachother. but when you touch the screen there is one line that dissapears... even in boot and recovery it is showing this problem...
any help appraciated...
Could possibly be a loose or worn connection, i dropped my Willy (still tickles me that slym) on a tiled floor and had a few dots that seemed to get bigger and smaller of their own accord, not saying you should do this but i accidentally dropped mine again and it fixed my problem.
Probably a loose connection between the screen and motherboard or the screen is beginning to fail.

If you look on youtube, there are videos showing how to open it up, its not difficult but there is a cable which folds around at the bottom of the screen for the backlights on the buttons, just be careful you don't tear it or your button lights won't work anymore. It may just need a little clean out. If that doesn't fix it then new screens are cheap enough but i've said it before n i'll say it again, is it worth spending money on?
Maybe time to think about an upgrade.......

i do have an upgrade i have a sensation xe since 4 weeks, but a friend of mine borrowed this one cause his died 2 weeks ago and it all was still good untill last weekend... but i might wanna try to look for the video and indeed clean it, maybe it helps... thanks for the info
Hi everyone,
I am using htc one x for over two months now, and recently i have noticed that my lcd is not working correctly.
I am using arhd 31.1 now, and before that i have been using arhd 31.0, and so on and so on...
This error happened when i installed arhd 31.0, but i tought that it was the rom problem so updated my phone to arhd 31.1. And problem still persists.
The problem is following, part of my lcd display does not recognize gestures, or touches or any other input, it is like that part of lcd or digitizer is dead, i cant do nothing in that area.
Picture explaining problem more precisely and effectivly is in attachment, those lines you see should be continous.
So what do you guys think this is? I am really pissed and you cannnot imagine how much this is annoying :/
Is this hardware problem or something else? Just so you know my phone never dropped, and it was never punched or anything.
Any help or somekind of advice would be great.
And I dont have a warranty.
Regards.

Had a similar problem but with the lower part of the digitizer, had to replace the whole screen+digitizer assembly(pity you cant replace only the digitizer).
I have one question tho - was your phone in moist environment -e.g pocket while running etc?
I cannot say it was in moist environment, but i use endomondo a lot while running, but then phone is in armband never in pocket.

I have this problem too,but in lower part of screen.I turned on visible touches in developer options and it just skip this area. And my auto touches in this area sometimes.
I have solution that worked for me but problem is coming back sometimes,so i must do that all over again.I hope it will help to someone still using this phone.
I solvet the problem by pressing up right edge of of my phone. When i press it it looks like its coming back to place.Try pressing phone with two fingers on edges of the phone and see if it makes the difference. And if it not work use lighter igniter, just google unresponsive part of touch screen fix with quartz lighter
I hope i helped and if you have any questions ask me.
And sorry for my BAD english!
I'll start by saying I don't have a whole lot of specifics on the issue as this isn't currently my phone. I'm looking to buy one and the seller said that one morning the phone would sporadically not respond to touch and by the end of the day wouldn't respond at all. She said that sometimes if she repeatedly locks and unlocks the phone it will work for a short time before becoming unresponsive again. She says there has been no water damage and she hasn't done any sort of software updates recently. She did say that a couple weeks before the issue started that it fell off her night stand but didn't seem to effect it at the time.
My question is has anyone run into this issue before? If so is it a software issue that could be remedied by doing a full wipe back to stock software? Or is it a hardware issue such as a bad digitizer or maybe something as simple as the digitizer cable coming loose?
I did some googling and the only thing I found about this issue was a result of flashing the wrong ROM to the s3. Any help would be appreciated.

I was going to say it sounds like the digitizer controller died/was bricked by a wrong rom.

Forgot to mention it but I pulled the back off and checked the ribbon cable. Removed and reseated it as well as made sure it wasn't corroded. Still a no go but on the bright side I found a nicely priced "blemished" screen on eBay so in a couple weeks I should be rocking the s3! And I'm glad to be in these forums. Looks like I'm going to have more options than I can handle.

If blemished means lightly scuffed just use some glass cleaner on it in a small coat, buddy of mine did that with his iPhone looked brand new.
& yep lol, soo many choices for ROMs and kernels for this phone, gotta love it :good:
So I got bored and disassembled and cleaned the connections on the board as well as the connections on the back of the screen. After reassembling it I get response from the touch screen again although its as though there's a phantom finger making random movements on the screen.

Looks like you've got ghosts
Making the iPhone jealous one user at a time.
So I guess it was just a bad digitizer. Just got my new one and got it swapped out and I'm good as new! Though if anyone else is looking to replace a screen and aren't too brave when it comes to taking a phone apart I would suggest getting a screen that has the frame already attached to it. Removing the screen from the frame and reattaching is a bit tricky.
