G.Nexus sprint/verizon/GSM LCD-Digitizer differences? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi there,
Looking to see if anyone knows if the Sprint/Verizion models have different LCD-Digitizers than the GSM model. I have a GSM one that just had the LCD crack and i was looking on ebay for some replacements. Some of the cheaper posts don't have which version the part is from.
any help appreciated!

they are all fused... if your up to trying to do it anyways you are braver than I.The displays and digitizers had aught to be identical. The difference between models is the backs, and the motherboards. If you look at the physical differences, the toro/toroplus have a daugter board with a modem on it, and that accounts for the extra depth.
To me, seperating the digitizer and display would be more of a headache than buying one someone had dunked in water and just using the guts from that. Most of the cost of the phone is the display. The soc is only like $30 when buying quantities greater than 1000...

Oh im not planning on separating them. They are sold as one piece, i was looking to see if i buy a combined one if it would matter if it came from a cdma/LTE one to be placed on a gsm.

Shouldn't matter from what I know, they should all be pretty much the same

i'm in the same boat. if anyone is certain that an lcd-digitizer from an lte gnex is a perfect replacement for a gsm gnex, please do let us know.

Hi, so are they the same? I just cracked my screen and want to replace it.
Please let me know.
Much appreciated!

they are not the same. the cables are in different locations.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I wish it was otherwise! the sprint digitizer was much cheaper. Most of the sellers do not specify which version it'll work with and add to the confusion.

Not to mention they have different motherboard layouts so you will have to mod it heavily.

Hate to resurrect this old thread but can you tell me if the sprint and verizon versions are the same? My verizon has a cracked screen and the sprint replacements are DIRT CHEAP compared to the vzw versions.
Thanks!

Even though they're both CDMA / LTE? If you don't mind me asking, how do you know for sure? I was looking at photos of them on eBay and they look mighty similar but it's very hard to tell for sure.
Thank you so much for your replies.

Part swap?

My gnex has a broken screen and is a GSM that I'm using on t mo. What I want to know is if I buy a Verizon version with a bad esn would the screen on the cdma version work on the GSM one.
Also a bonus question would I be able to put the 32 gb memory in the GSM version.

Possibly... but the phones are definitely not built the exact same (just take the battery cover off and you'll see). So I'd need someone with more technical knowledge of the differences to chime in.
Depending on how much you're paying for that you might be better off selling yours for parts and buying a new one since they're only $399 now.

Definitely no.
They definitely have some differences in parts. When I had an issue with one of my GSM versions I remember looking up tear downs for both and they were a lot more differences that I originally thought. I'd be very cautious attempting to put a part from the cdma variant into GSM until you're 100% sure it'll work. Hopefully someone here can confirm.

[Q] galaxy nexus 16GB & 4G LTE difference

hi everyone
so, I was watching a review of Galaxy Nexus because I'm gonna buy one,
& I crossed over this only in Cnet's review, they said 16 GB one is unlocked, & also the 4G one is thicker as they showed.
now my question is if I buy the 32 one, can I unlock it later? myself?
& also if it's true 16GB is thinner, how thin is it in hand? because I already took one 32GB in hand & it was not that bad to take in hand
Unlock it to use on a GSM network? No (at least not as far as I know), the internal hardware in Toro (32GB version) is different than that in Maguro (16GB version).
The thickness isn't really too noticeable for me, depending on what phone you are coming from you probably won't notice a huge difference when held compared to the Toro model, It has a nice quality feel no matter which one you choose.
I hope this helps!
The 4G is used on CDMA, there's not point in unlocking it as you couldn't use it on another CDMA carrier's 4G (such as Sprint).
The 16 GB is GSM, not CDMA. So depending on what network you plan on using it on, that should dictate which one to use.
Since I'm on Tmo, the GSM is the one for me.

thanks, it's the first time I also hear it's CDMA
then if it's CDMA, why are they selling it where I live here in Cyprus?
cause there's no CDMA in here as far as I know.
is there any chance u might be wrong & 32GB also has a GSM version?
Nope just 16g

Well actually, some GSM 32 GB WERE sold a LONG time ago, near launch. Samsung quickly discontinued this model however, and made it a CDMA exclusive for some reasons (only reason I envy my gfs Sprint Gnex).
Anyways, I've seen a few sell on eBay, but as far as everyone knows, they stopped making them, and I don't see why they'd start selling them exclusively there. Maybe a misprint?

So, let's say, the one I saw is from the first few 32gb GSM
if I buy that, will I have problem with updating to other ROMs, because of hardware differences?
(like as u know these people release some ROMs according to the device model number for some brands)

Should not have problems.
No, the only change would be the 32 vs 16 gb storage. All GSM are maguro models.

No.. they were never sold as 32GB and GSM. It was a rumor. The "pre orders" were sold but no one got an actual device.

[Q] CDMA Screens

Anyone know if the screen from a sprint Galaxy Nexus phone can be used on the verizon CDMA model?
Noooo. It takes a lot of modifying to get the parts to fit. I didn't personally do it, but there's a thread here about someone who did. He ended up getting it finished, but it was a lot of trouble. I'll go look for that thread for you now and edit my.post when I find it...
Edit: can't find the thread
All I know is the parts do not just fit. You need to do some fabricating to get the screen to fit

Are you sure that's not from CDMA to GSM well the other way around? From what I know the Sprint and Verizon Nexuii are pretty much the same.

If you ask me, GSM, CDMA Verizon, CDMA Sprint, they're all the exact same, except for the radios, antenna ports and the SIM card slot...
Why wouldn't they fit, they're all 4.68", right?
Don't rely on me lol, I have no idea...

Gotcha. I think I've said this awhile ago, but that's an awesome signature lol.. Hate it when people ask that question...
The last time i checked Sprint's nexus don't have a sim card slot, so the innards should be different too.
It seems that most of these replys are talking about using a CDMA screen on a GSM phone or a GSM screen on a CDMA phone. I think we can all agree that without a lot of work this is not possible. However has anyone actually ever tried using a screen from the Sprint Galaxy Nexus on the Verizon Model? I haven't been able to find any post indicating that it has been tried.

i would image it is different. the sim is not removable so i'd imagine the rest is different due to this.

[Q] Will a Sprint LCD/Digitizer work on a T-Mobile Galaxy S3?

Just like the title says.....I am looking at a replacement LCD for my wife's tmobile galaxy phone but I only find the Sprint one cheap. Are these interchangeable?

my cousin has the sprint one and they look 100 percent identical, form factor wise. Only question is the plug inside the device at the same spot on both devices? Try and look at a break down /disassembly of bothers variants to see what's inside

Well i'm fairly certain the LCD itself is interchangeable, the board is not. Switching the cases from a T-mobile to Sprint will not work, as the boards are constructed slightly differently on the top and bottom. the T-Mobile will not fit correctly in the back of the Sprint case, I (sadly) know from experience. :/

AT&T motherboard swap to T-Mobile

Good Day!
I got my SM-910A and the network status stays only on emergency calls, bought it in for repairs and found out it that the motherboards needs to go changed. So I was looking on online to buy a new motherboard and the att one is expensive, which is a price for a used one about $99+. So I looked at the tmobile and its less expensive.
So can anyone advice that buying a tmobile board, is wise to put in a at&t device?

Interesting find, I read through the thread and it works good, expect the he gets a notification saying he doesn't the proper sim.
I live outside the US, live in the Caribbean Saint Lucia, the bands won't make much scene for me but my carriers are also gsm running on 4G. I try it myself in two weeks or three.

both phones are basically the same
just that one has an unlocked bootloader, while one is completely dead in development
you won't be able to use all the bands on the phone, but besides that
you are getting more than what you paid for
It will work I've done it before

Yes it would work just fine
It will. Using an AT&T Note 4 here, with SK Telecom (Exynos variant) motherboard. No locked bootloader included.
Had issues with camera though, but I guess I'll eventually figure that out. Shouldn't be a problem to you though, since you are going to use motherboard from the T-Mobile ones anyway.
