Hi,
My Sony Xperia Lt28i international version gives trouble with wifi reception. The WiFi receiving strength is very less even if i stays near the router whereas my other HTC and Samsung does the job well. Is there any solution for this? Does any one face the same?

I have noticed the signal strength doesn't appear to be as good as some of my other devices but I have no fix.
I also noticed Ion doesn't have a good reception - both wireless & mobile. It seem to have some interference within the phone. I hope the custom rom will boost up the hardware.

I've noticed that the bars are lower compared to my old HTC Tilt2, both for wifi and phone signal, but I've never had problem talking on the phone or using the Internet even with only one bar. I don't think that there is a standard among companies about how to show the reception strength, so 4 bars with a Samsung probably isn't comparable with 4 bars on a Sony. So far the only place I´ve noticed a complete signal loss was a basement office where I've heard people say they also don't have phone signal.

As to signal strength, I do not experience any significant difference compared to my TYTN2. And my provider has some weak spots in the surrounding of where I live, so I have been able to test the signal strength under various conditions. Where it comes to quality, the TP2/Rhodium is significantly better (at least on my side of the call).
Cheers, Dela
I definitely find the signal much weaker on my TP2 than I did with my tytnII.
Also lots of (related, I guess) problems with it switching between 3g/H and G - get the "cannot connect" message too much.
Never having done much ROM stuff, will this be bettered with the new ROMs that will come after Hard SPL?

same here. Actually seems better than the HD for me
Actually I have batt problems with a specific operator. The batt wont last even a full day with Vivo. Buit with other operators, a day and a half easy.
I think it is signal related.
my signal is very weak as well. i have compared my new TP2 to my old S710. I get 3 bars on my old one as opposed to 1 bar on my new high dollar phone.
What can I do to make my signal stronger in my TP2? I have called Tmobile. They have troubleshot with me, checked the tower, etc. I truly think it is phone related. HELP!!
I am tired of dropped calls.
I find the signal on mine slightly better than my TyTN II or at worst at Par with the TyTN II. Does anyone ever get that chequerd 'H'? what does it mean? I am guessing it means a week HSDPA signal since I only get it when there are no signal bars.
My signal isn't as good as before (Tytn II on t-mobile)...
I'm still on t-mob but HSDPA connections and general reception indoors isn't as good as it was...
Has anyone noticed low wifi signal.
I tested standing next to my wifi router with my:
old HTC Desire: 100% wifi signal
new Galaxy Nexus: 70% wifi signal.
Walking a few steps back the Nexus drops to 50%, Desire stays at 100%.
Anyone else?
Same here, worst signal I've ever hand in a mobile for WiFi. Only really a problem when I'm quite far from the router with walls in between, still though, none of my other handsets had this problem.

i think overall this is the worst reception I have ever had on a cell phone. Its really the first one thats ever given me a problem in my house. Constantly drops to 1 / 0 bars which is like -107 to -111 dbm but i pop in simcard into my 4s and its at -87 dbm. Same type of thing with wifi as well.
I have tried other radios and it seems that UGKK7 radio works best for me on ATT.
Ive tested the UGKL1 for just an hour or so and this one may be the best yet for me. TO early to tell though. I can say that im on full bars for both wifi and hspa for the first time at home with my GN. Just curious if it will hold though. Usually it ends up dropping and not recovering.
It seems like the wifi range on my Nexus just doesn't hold up. Here's (attached) a shot I just took of my Galaxy Nexus and another of my iPhone4 in the exact same spot at the exact-ish same time.
The router is on the other side of the house, and while the iPhone4 and my Macbook (which i'm typing this on right now in the same spot, connected) pretty consistently stay at one or two bars at the very least, the Galaxy Nexus has a noticeable/distinct lack of ability to keep a consistent signal, and struggles to do so.
Every Samsung phone I've ever owned has this issue.
My work iPhone 4 works on the 3rd floor of my house (router in basement) with full bars whereas the Samsungs (GNEX included) barely connect.
Very frustrating as I like to use wifi to save carrier data. Oh well. At least I have unlimited data, so I stream away via 3g.
mine doesnt do as well as my motorolas and nokias but it still holds it own. The bars are not as indicative for me because even when showing no bars i have had a reliable connection.

Actually I find it just cuts out continuously. I turned off "avoid poor connections" but that didn't make a noticable difference. It connects and reconnects all the time.
You can watch when i download a game it will hang for a few minutes then start the transfer or continue it again.

Aggravating. Anyone know if the SGSII is the same way?
Do any of you guys know if the wifi strength is an improvement over the nexus s?

It's a downgrade from GSII as far as I know.

I am following this thread with great interest.
I have Motorola Razr and for me the WiFi reception is appalling.
It can only just see my home network.
To compare my three year old HTC Hero is showing seven!
I have a plan that allows my to connect to BT Openzone hotspots around the UK (something that is very important to me)
I went into my nearest town yesterday and it could not find a single WiFi signal!
I want to like my Razr, but I am finding it difficult and I was thinking that the Gnex would be the logical way to go but it seems that you guys are experiencing similar problems.
ive tested both phones as well.
the 4s definitely destroys both the wifi / cell reception on the galaxy nexus.
in my house my iphone is usually around -80 to -89 dbm but the galaxy nexus is -95 to -107. Kind of pathetic if you ask me but I like the phone way to much to go back to the iphone.
Definitely still having issues with this, if anyone is curious. At my girlfriend's house tonight, and despite the router being the next room over, the phone still can't keep a solid signal. It is rather pathetic, honestly. For Google/Samsung's sake, I hope this bug can be fixed via software.
my SGSII has terrible wifi performance also. My captivate had bad wifi performance also, so ill be used to it when I get the Nexus lol. Good thing the router is right next to me

Jup it's pretty horrible the signal drops from 20mbps to 6mpbs if I put the nexus on a table just 6 meters away. S2 same prob although it doesn't seem to be as bad as the nexus.
I'm seeing the same thing on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
In the same room iPhone 4 and HTC Thunderbolt gets 3 or 4 bars, the nexus gets 1. Go into the next room, or god-forbid go into the basement and there's no wifi connection on the Galaxy Nexus but 3 or 4 bars still on the other phones.
There is certainly an issue.
I called VZW support and got the usual run around : reboot the phone, "we're sending new settings to your phone" etc. Finally he told me that it's probably a problem with the SIM card and they'd send me a new one. I said "no thanks, I want to talk to someone who knows what they are talking about."
After being transferred through to Samsung support I didn't get much further but the lady there at least knew what she was talking about.
They mentioned an upcoming software update, which I've been reading about, but I'm not sure that this is really the issue, since it's not just that it does't show enough bars, it loses the connection.
Tried a different radio?
At the moment there are many different smallband versions. And they all give a different signal. The smallband xxkk6 seems to be the best.
Try upgrading you smallband with the radio.img that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374077 This is only for the gsm version.
My HTC Thunderbolt is the same way.
It has at least 25% stronger 4G and Wifi signal at all times.
Seems like Samsung uses weaker antennas to save on power, cost, and/or weight??
It's better than my Captivate was. Can't go by bars anyway.
I returned my Galaxy Nexus for a new one. Probably got a defect one from factory.
Lost connection to my wifi-network when i went around 2-3 meters from my router.
Tried switching channels, 2,4Ghz/5Ghz frequencies and flashing different radios. No go
My GN suffers from the "Avoided, poor network signal"
As many other have said its rather annoying when your trying to conserve your 3G Bandwidth Maybe Samsung will fix this in the coming weeks (Maybe not)
I found out that the WiFI signal icon on the GNex is misleading; on my Optimus 2X it was full and Wifi Analyzer showed -60 dBm. On the GNex it was half yet Wifi Analyzer showed -50 dBm, sometimes -60. The link speed is 65Mbps on GNex, 72Mbps on O2X. Both show Excellent signal strength in network details.
Today I noticed that the signal on my hox is worse than on my old desire. On places where my desire got constand hsdpa the hox switches constantly from hsdpa to 3g with less signal bars. Anyone else with this problem ?

Same here, I now have to go outside my office to be able to make calls that dont drop. With my SG2 would get full bar in my office, but with HOX only get 2bars
Yup mine seems the same, stumbled upon this thread looking for a solution so hopefully someone who has some success resolving the issue will be able to help.
I'm having this issue too, hopefully when s off has been achieved we will be able to flash different radios it has fixed this issue on all of my previous phones.
My phone also seems to have a somewhat weaker 3G reception than my SGS-2, although they both act in the same way in regards to switching between 3G and H+ all the time. I think this can be corrected partly via software updates since the wifi reception is much stronger on the HOX than any unit I ever had before. It is the same "antenna" the receives both signals isnt it?
Mine seems to get faster 3G speeds than my Gnex and GS2 (unless my network has improved in the past 2 week)
But phone signal is far worse, especially since the 1.28 update... I'm not getting signal now in places where I used to always get signal
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
My data speeds have dramatically decreased after the latest 1.28 update - quite dissapointing! I have no use for better signal if the data is worse lol
Have been lurking on here for a while now and noticed a few threads and comments about reception on the One X
I am in the same boat, was using a Desire S and now a One x and noticed there is a distinct difference in signal level between the two. Not just the signal bars (desire s has 4, One x has 5) but the dBm levels too.
I would say that 80% of those that have had the update and posted about signal have said that it has improved, regardless of carrier they use.
I went into the store where I bought mine from (ThreeUk Retail shop) and they were going to swap it out there and then for me but the handset on display (working demo) had a similar level to mine, so seemed pointless as Im guessing that all/most of the units are like this, it isnt an isolated case.
So, im not sure what to do now. I have just swapped my main number to Three (and its now my only number). Im without coverage far more than I used to be with Voda, or with Three using the Desire S.
Three shop says they have a 28 day policy for faulty handsets, I hope that the update is out before that so I can see for myself.
Brilliant handset though…. screen is lush, using the phone is a pleasure…. just brilliant.

I am noticing far worse signal on my handset than previous handsets , an awful lot of the time my handset switches between t-mobile and orange , whereas previous handsets were solid t-mobile all day , and also the data speeds are worse. I am not very impressed as the 1.28 update appears to have made this worse, and its an unlocked generic variant in the uk if thats of any help
cheers
james
My signal is loads better.
Before the update I couldn't sit on the sofa and make a call I would get 3bars then nothing.
Now I'm a fairly constant 4 bars sat on the sofa.
I'm on Tesco (so O2) I was going to take the handset back before the update.
Battery seems twice as good on a completely different note.

I have had a similar experience as descb600f. Prior to 1.28 my signal would drop regularly. After 1.28 I am finding it is far better, regularly seeing 3 bars, where before it would continually switch between 0 and 2 bars.
WiFi reception is great, puts my Desire to shame!
So which is it, does 1.28 make signal alot better or not? And what about actual call quality, its one thing getting 3 bars but another if calls are choppy
I do have to agree with the signal/Wifi issues on this device.. I came from a Nexus S (GSM model) and I used to get good HSPA/UMTS signals on that device, I also have a Wifi network setup in my house, it covers most of the house and some of the backyard.. However when out in the backyard the One X seems to drop the connection to the Wifi network, however my old Nexus S still has atleast 2-3 bars of Wifi connectivity and constantly keeps the signal/connection.
Has anyone else had issues like this with Home Wifi networks not getting as great a signal as other devices?
If I hold the One X in one hand and the Nexus S in the other and move away from the Wifi Access Point, the One X drops signal strength a lot quicker and the Nexus S keeps connection/signal a lot further away..
Bit dissapointed with that, and hope it's some how able to be fixed with software/firmware upgrades in the future?
Also I noticed the One X seems to switch between H/3G (HSPA/UMTS etc) quite a lot more than the Nexus S does, same network, holding both in same spot..
Apart from these minor issues and the screen flickering issue I'm more than happy with the One X..

WiFi and 2G/3G are two different chipsets and different antennas.
I have also notices dropsin the last 3 days, including hours with no reception at all
Need to switch from 1.26 to 1.28 soon to try it...
I should say I live in an area with only 2G reception and we sit in a dip partially hidden from the transmitters.
We can only get O2/Voda (orange/TMob if I just want to live upstairs in a corner of the house) and since the update I now have no issues with reception just like I used to.
1.28 has resolved my issues.
On the wifi front
I live in an old stone cottage with timber frame extension (wifi b/g can't make it thru our internal walls in the old part of the house), I have the N wifi router upstairs in the extension and have no issues with losing WiFi either (didn't have issues before 1.28).
Hope this helps people, I realise some may say it has got worse but for me the difference is night and day making the phone completely fine.
I just found an old 3 SIM (from a dongle) and popped it into my desire s and placed both by the window running Network Signal App for 30 minutes.
Both were attached to the same tower and the HOX was getting between -89 and -91 dbm, the Desire a consistent -75dbm.
Just hope that Three shake their touche's and get the update approved ASAP…. im quite a technical guy, but the idea of rooting and doing the update myself gives me the shakes…..
Steve
Wanted to know what people think of there reception?
My phone data is faster than my wifi anywhere I connect wifi it runs slower when using any app that uses data
I have 4 Note 10+s in my house now. We have never had good cell reception at my house and have always relied on WiFi. Previously my kids had LG G6s and their cell reception was bad, little to none anywhere are my property. My Wife and I have had S8+s and our reception has been 1-2 bars at certain locations though mostly nothing. The Note 10+ reception is on par with our S8+s. On the other hand we got my youngest a "cheap" phone in case she breaks it and it gets at least 1 bar anywhere on my property. Its a Samsung A10e. Who would have thought.
Wifi performance is the same as previous phones
4G download seems the same or slightly faster
But
4G upload is slower...worryingly so. Is it a separate antenna for receive and transmit?
Yeah some thing is wrong with upload speeds

That's what I get to
up/down wifi speed is exactly same as on all my previous phones. Haven't tested cell signal yet, but gps seems to be much more precise especially in high rise/high signal bouncing areas with very little drifting.

Agree with Gps performance. The only area of concern I see is cell 4G upload
