As to signal strength, I do not experience any significant difference compared to my TYTN2. And my provider has some weak spots in the surrounding of where I live, so I have been able to test the signal strength under various conditions. Where it comes to quality, the TP2/Rhodium is significantly better (at least on my side of the call).
Cheers, Dela

I definitely find the signal much weaker on my TP2 than I did with my tytnII.
Also lots of (related, I guess) problems with it switching between 3g/H and G - get the "cannot connect" message too much.
Never having done much ROM stuff, will this be bettered with the new ROMs that will come after Hard SPL?

same here. Actually seems better than the HD for me

Actually I have batt problems with a specific operator. The batt wont last even a full day with Vivo. Buit with other operators, a day and a half easy.
I think it is signal related.

my signal is very weak as well. i have compared my new TP2 to my old S710. I get 3 bars on my old one as opposed to 1 bar on my new high dollar phone.
What can I do to make my signal stronger in my TP2? I have called Tmobile. They have troubleshot with me, checked the tower, etc. I truly think it is phone related. HELP!!
I am tired of dropped calls.

I find the signal on mine slightly better than my TyTN II or at worst at Par with the TyTN II. Does anyone ever get that chequerd 'H'? what does it mean? I am guessing it means a week HSDPA signal since I only get it when there are no signal bars.

My signal isn't as good as before (Tytn II on t-mobile)...
I'm still on t-mob but HSDPA connections and general reception indoors isn't as good as it was...

Biggest Rhodium Disappointment? Phone reception.

Since I have gotten my Tilt 2 (ATT), I have not ever gotten good reception. I've flashed every ATT Radio, the newest radios (even non-att) and am running EnergyROM latest and can never maintain good phone reception. I always drop calls.
I know it's not my area, as I got great reception with my previous phone!
I feel like there is no way to get phone reception!!
Very disappointed in that
You guys experience the same problems?
no but theres no dead zones at all in houston.
yeah, i have nothing but good reception in my area (austin, texas and surrounding areas). Maybe you have a faulty antenna on your device. Have you called in At&t and tried to get a replacement? Head down to a Device Support center and talk to the guys there and they might change it on the spot for you, which i've had done many times with my original tilt and fuze.
Good luck.
Well, I changed my GSM Band to 1900+850 and flashed the latest radio and I seem to get better coverage.
One problem though (though it is minor): with these settings, it doesn't use HSDPA, only EDGE, which is slow lol
Any suggestions... please? Haha like maybe ghetto-rigging it with tinfoil? Ha I'm desperate

have you checked the coverage map of AT&T in your area? and also the material your house is built can also play a major role in signal, do you get more signal outside?

LT28i WiFi Reception is very low

Hi,
My Sony Xperia Lt28i international version gives trouble with wifi reception. The WiFi receiving strength is very less even if i stays near the router whereas my other HTC and Samsung does the job well. Is there any solution for this? Does any one face the same?

I have noticed the signal strength doesn't appear to be as good as some of my other devices but I have no fix.
I also noticed Ion doesn't have a good reception - both wireless & mobile. It seem to have some interference within the phone. I hope the custom rom will boost up the hardware.

I've noticed that the bars are lower compared to my old HTC Tilt2, both for wifi and phone signal, but I've never had problem talking on the phone or using the Internet even with only one bar. I don't think that there is a standard among companies about how to show the reception strength, so 4 bars with a Samsung probably isn't comparable with 4 bars on a Sony. So far the only place I´ve noticed a complete signal loss was a basement office where I've heard people say they also don't have phone signal.

agree. never had a problem with ion's signal. probably sony is more honest lol?
I guess its because of the metal back cover.....

Verizon nexus call quality

Just wondering if any of you Verizon nexus owners have any issues with call quality. Not referring to signal strength but more of voice quality. When I talk to someone their voice sounds a little scratchy or sounds like the speaker is blown. Is this normal? Just wondering if I should get a replacement. Thanks !

The call quality is horrible. Besides low volume, the voice calls are always breaking up. Sometimes I can't hear caller and sometimes they can't hear me. It is on every call, whether it's 1 bar of signal strength or 4 bars. It is the worst phone I have ever had as far as call quality. I don't know if it is a Verizon issue or a Samsung radio issue. But my next phone will not be a Samsung or Verizon (even though I hate to lose unlimited data).
I love ICS but I am tempted to go back to iphone and AT&T (but my wife has an iphone and ios looks so old now). I left a couple of years ago, but this Nexus phone has pissed me off so much. Or I may wait until next decent Android phone and wait until it's out a few months to get reviews first.

Hmmm kinda wish I would have seen this sooner. Since no one responded I figured I was the only one with this problem and called verizon for a replacement. My problem was mostly with the speaker sounding like it was popped. I had no problems with dropped calls or people cutting in and out. Hope my replacement doesn't have those issues

I think this likely varies device to device. I have horrible signal reception on mine (50 feet from a tower, I was at -75dBm), but the voice quality of calls is perfect via handset, speakerphone, and bluetooth.

@cilraaz if I'm not mistaken lower the dBM the better signal reception.

Smaller numbers, which are actually higher since they're negative, are better reception. However, -75dBm at 50 feet from a tower is fairly poor. In my home, I'm usually at -100dBm (-93dBm at best) and at work, which has been notoriously bad for me, I usually stare at -120dBm with consistant signal drops.
Edit: My numbers are 3G CDMA RSSI based. 4G on radio FC05 uses RSRP, which shows a lower signal number for the same signal quality (here's a good explanation). I don't really use 4G unless I need the speed, though in a lot of areas I get better 4G signal than 3G. I've tested all of the modems and noted no difference between EK01, EK05, EK06, FA02, or FC04. On the 4G side, I noted no difference between EK02, EK04, or FC05, but had noted slow handoffs and data drops with the 4G FA02 modem.
Edit2: My device is using an 09 hardware revision (listed under baseband as i515.09). Some have stated that the 10 revision (i515.10) has inherent problems, whether due to poor hardware or poor construction (if true at all... I have no way to know).
I have good call quality on my Verizon GNex. Sound is crisp and clear. It's much better than the call quality I had on my ATT Captivate.
I always have Awesome calls.

If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^

Well I received my replacement and it was a 10 revision hardware. What a nightmare! Wouldn't make calls, wouldn't connect to the internet, no service whatsover. Long story short, I called verizon and they are sending me another replacement. Worst part is I used up my final screen protector on this recent phone. I guess I should try out the phone before I do anything to it. Will update on Friday when I get my third replacement

[Q] G3 D855 cellular signal reception and lockon?

I live in an area of weak signal strenght and got G3 as an upadte to my htc M7. G3 has problem maintainig network connection. On my M7 I always get 1 or 2 bars, but G3 will not discover network signal most of the time, even outdoors. Even my wifes old Iphone G3 will get 2 bars constant. We are on the same carrier.
I have found that thread and it doesn/t sound to promising. Well I think my G3 is going back on monday, maybe will try another one, but I don't promise my self much. <_<
I read propably all new smartphones have weaker signal reception S5,G3,M8,Iphone6 beeing no exeption.
Some worth mentioning facts from the O2 thread:
unless you live in an outstanding area of high signal strength forget it.

It's a sad fact that anyone would reasonably expect top end smart phones to have equal signal strength in any given area. Sadly we find this isn't the case and it disappoints me that manufacturers don't concentrate on the primary function of a phone. Shame!

No point having a handset that does lots of things without being able to hold onto signal

does not give me high hopes for new smart(crappy signal receiving)phones, does it? Wonder how Iphone6 is doing in that field? Ha this thread somewhat answers that question.
If you live in a week carrier signal area post your comments, comparisions here. Thx.

Reception

Wanted to know what people think of there reception?
My phone data is faster than my wifi anywhere I connect wifi it runs slower when using any app that uses data
I have 4 Note 10+s in my house now. We have never had good cell reception at my house and have always relied on WiFi. Previously my kids had LG G6s and their cell reception was bad, little to none anywhere are my property. My Wife and I have had S8+s and our reception has been 1-2 bars at certain locations though mostly nothing. The Note 10+ reception is on par with our S8+s. On the other hand we got my youngest a "cheap" phone in case she breaks it and it gets at least 1 bar anywhere on my property. Its a Samsung A10e. Who would have thought.
Wifi performance is the same as previous phones
4G download seems the same or slightly faster
But
4G upload is slower...worryingly so. Is it a separate antenna for receive and transmit?
Yeah some thing is wrong with upload speeds

That's what I get to
up/down wifi speed is exactly same as on all my previous phones. Haven't tested cell signal yet, but gps seems to be much more precise especially in high rise/high signal bouncing areas with very little drifting.

Agree with Gps performance. The only area of concern I see is cell 4G upload
