Just thought I would share this. I spotted one of these Saturday @ Bed, Bath and Beyond. It really sparked my intrest, as something us Android fans rarely see the price is decent. I currently have it sitting on my desk @ work next to my monitor with my HTC Sensation on it.
I purchased this for my GS3 that arrives tomorrow, due to the center bottom port.
I will say without a case on it, it has a little lean in it. But nothing bad. I even tried my gf's HTC OG EVO last night and it had a little lean, but charged her phone and was quite sturdy.
Check it out!

Edit: I also had Best Buy price match Bed, Bath & Beyond. Saved me $10. Total of $50.00.
On a Rated Scaled I would give it a 4/5
Sound quality is great for an alarm clock or desk radio. Do not expect to listen to in multiple rooms.
Don't you have to plug in an AUX cable to utilize the speakers? Not much of a dock if you still have to plug another cord into the phone...
I hope the plug rotates.

Yes, it actually does. They tried to make it a little more universal for the broad amount of Android devices.
As previously stated. It does require the 3.5mm to be plugged in for Audio. I agree, it could have been a better design. But this will replace my need for a $20 Office dock and $20 desk radio. Just thought i would share, as i have never seen one before.
After a little research Phillips makes some also. But are much more pricey.
i've been looking for speakers for my bedroom for a while now. i want wifi, though. no cables or docking.
I cant believe there isnt much intrest for this?

The 3.5mm plug requirement kills it for me and for most others is my guess.
It's gotten bad reviews, and the fact that you have 2 wires coming out of your device is ridiculous. I really want to buy the official Samsung speaker dock, but it's too expensive for what I want.
This one may be worth looking into though: http://www.samsung.com/us/video/home-theater/DA-E570/ZA
Haven't seen any reviews for it yet though. But it comes with an S3 dock and an iPhone dock built in and connects to audio via bluetooth.
Agreed. But that option doesnt have an alarm clock or radio. O well. Im actually pretty happy with mine. Regardless of the addtional 3.5mm needed. It works great. To each their own.
I'm not a big fan of having to plug in the audio jack as well, I'm looking at possibly getting the bluetooth Philips alarm clock
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Philips...87&skuId=3044077&st=philips alarm&cp=1&lp=12
A lot of complaints are about the app but you can use your alarm on the phone and connect via bluetooth and it comes through the clock from what I've read. A bit more expensive

I am trying to find a relatively simple and cheap method to build what could be considered a night stand for my phone, and I am fairly confident that I am not the only one. Is anybody out there looking for ways to build such a device (even in passing)?
A member of the t-mobile forum recently ordered a stand from www.ezestand.com, which they are going to test out. The website mentions that the stand is not compatible with the droid incredible in horizontal mode, though. That seems like an issue that could plague the mytouch as well.
Another option I have been looking at a bit would be to use a business card stand. Something along the lines of the following stand could work...
http://www.amazon.com/Rolodex-Disti...MH/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1294169822&sr=8-13
Because the ends are open, the width of the phone would not be an issue. There is also a small base under the stand, and depending on what it is made out of, one could conceivably run a wire under the stand and cut a hole for the micro usb plug. It would be best to use a right angle micro USB, though.
Simple, cheap, and compatible with any phone.

LOL brilliant
While that is very neat, I don't like the idea of having something permanently on my bedside table that looks like garbage.
For what it's worth, I stopped by office max and they had that exact business card holder that I linked to in stock. It was cheaper there (about 6 bucks), and the bottom is made of a solid piece of some kind of particle board (as opposed to hollow plastic). That makes it a bit trickier, but I can imagine how a right angle micro usb plug could be worked in through the back piece of metal and a little shelf could be put in the bottom to hold the bottom of the phone up.
so i have been thinking of doing a car dock for the mytouch 4g, since I successfully modded the oem desk dock to use the three pins on the side..
well, I have a alpine blackbird navigation I bought awhile back and it had the car dock for it and I was thinking may be I can do something with this since I hardly use or I lost/broke the blackbird...
but I here are pics I took:

I was thinking of switching or joining the mytouch to the alpine dock:?
let me know what you all think?
Interesting idea. From the video I have seen of the official dock (primarily yours), it seems like it is quite a snug fit. I am not sure how you will be able to recreate that, but I bet that dock would work fantastically.
App Launching On Power
Im not sure if the official dock launches apps, but if you want app launching Check Out "powerwifi" from the android market, or you can go here http://sites.google.com/site/scadaguru/power-wifi

I have been thinking of doing something like this myself as well... I even drew up some quick ideas and made a cardboard prototype...I tried to design it where the angle may be adjusted....idk..
hmmmm
i had a thought about this also. what if we found a case that fit the phone and cut it down to spec, mounted it, then wired it up. i was even thinking about using the case to mold some others so i could make multiple ones that i might like
. .
I doubt they would have anything for the Galaxy Phones since the Jack and USB connection in that case is normally on the TOP of the phone (like the Captivate)
You'd have better luck modding and building your own. Considering the phone doesn't do upside down portrait at all oddly. I doubt it would be nearly anything like the iPod style docks since Apple did have the brilliance (the few times I do give them a compliment) of putting their major connector on the bottom of their mobile and portable products.
Although should such a product exist, I would be interested in seeing such thing maybe even purchasing one.

Mine does upside-down portrait just fine. (Though I think I'm quoting the wrong post, since I don't see the upside-down statement in your post.) (Nevermind, I see it now. Good, I am quoting the right person.) You have to go in display settings and enable 180-degree rotation or something like that. Some roms don't have that option, though so YMMV.
Samsung has done some good horizontal desk docks for it (once you register your captivate with samsung, it shows you a crapload of nice accessories) so it probably wouldn't be too hard to make one.
Easiest design would be to buy one of the horizontal desk docks, a small 3.5mm speaker set from Radio Shack, and drill a small hole in the dock to plug them in, then attach the speakers to the dock.
Could be done for under $50 if you use the Samsung official dock, way less if you use one from ebay or amazon.
Get the kind that is just an empty drawer and a headphone cord. Phone's right side up and you've got speakers.
Something like this:

www.Cablejive.com Has some great audio accessories, but the ones I've listed below are absolutely needed if your car is setup for iDevices and you have ANDROID.
The first converts your iPod/Iphone interface to a standard 3.5mm Audio Headphone Jack and allows for listening to your phone through an existing iPhone/iPod interface in your car or Home. ($22.96)

The second is the same thing, only it also adds a Micro USB charging solution built into the same cable. ($29.95)

That would be handy. We have a home unit I could use this with.
Thanks!

Yeah I originally bought the audio only version but Just ordered the combo so I'd have one less thing to take up my cigarette lighter adapters. Gonna gift the old cable as it still looks and works like brand new. P.S. they are pretty fast shipping wise as well.
I want to get this for my Volvo but not sure if it will work. My Volvo Ipod adapter plays the playlists on the ipod, and I'm able to play slacker. ANyone think this will work with a Volvo ipod kit?

They only list the VW and Audi as not Compatible. I think you'll be fine. Either way if it doesn't work it won't be hard to return or resell.
Neat, I will definitely think about getting this
Here's hoping you're not a spammer! (Kind of a suspicious post honestly)
argh they are sold out

Serves me right to be called a spammer lol. I switched to iPhone with the iPhone 4 and just came back to android for the Galaxy 2. Since I switched everything for iPhone I had to find a way to get my new Galaxy II hooked to all my docks and car kits I spent hundreds on. Buy or do not buy, but I have been hanging around here since 2007 and thought it was about time I contribute.
I've been using a female dock adapter I picked up from Deal Extreme, but it picks up electric interference when I use it in the car. Anybody else experience this?

I haven't had any of that out of the audio only adapter I have. (the one on top) The charging and audio adapter arrives tomorrow hopefully, so I'll let you know after I've had a chance to test.
Yes... thanks. I need one of these.

Well it ended up being at home waiting for me yesterday. I can report that with power and audio I have no feedback or noise in the background. Just clear music. I think those other systems just aren't grounded as well. Hope this helps your decision.
is your car too old to have streaming bluetooth? are you too damn poor or too lazy to get a job and buy a head unit? well i got the answer for you

this thing is a bluetooth that play music wirelessly via a2dp all you need is to have aux from your stereo plug into this thing. i just got it today and it is great! i could have just stay with the aux input line but that was too messy, i like things clean and neat looking, so if you like me and want a cool solution, get this thing, dont mind the amazon reviews its the best thing out there right now.
yes you can make call from it, and I test it with my friend, mind you my car is not the quietest (02 rsx = rattles) and yet he can hear me clearly.

Or get this, is pretty cheap right now usually 70+

Works really well if you asked me, and also good reviews.. and there is a usb port for you to plug in your micro-usb to charge the phone at the same time.

But how is the streaming quality?
I tried the Griffin mentioned in the OP and ended up returning it because of audio quality being significantly degraded compared to a wired connection (I'm talking about music here, not the calling quality).

I bought these because I wanted to use earbuds in classes or while working and just use one earbud inconspicuously. These have worked great, and I like them so much that these are the only earbuds I bother grabbing when leaving the house for most occasions.
A big problem I have had in the past with my corded earbuds is that because I am at school, I am always stuffing my earbuds into my bag, where they get tangled and the cord gets damaged, so most of the time I just get cheap earbuds, because they all end up wearing out eventually.
These earbuds fit perfectly in the charging case, and because the case is so small, I can easily slip it into my pocket or backpack and know that they wont get worn out or damaged from my usage.
The pairing on the Bluetooth can be a little confusing at first, because both of the earbuds can be "in charge" because they both work independently. The best way for me to get them paired was to turn on one, and then once it pairs with my phone, then turn on the other earbud and it will automatically pair with the other one.
The sound quality is pretty good, and they are very good at sound cancelling, so I usually just put in one while in class so that I can still hear when something is going on.
I don't really have a way to compare the battery life with my other devices, but they seemed to last a really long time before they got to low battery and I usually put them in the case pretty frequently between usages and the case charges them well. The case charges by usb-c, which is a plus for me, because that's one less micro USB cord I need in the jungle (in my disorganized charging station), I just need to pop it on to my OnePlus Dash Charger and it charges at regular speed.
Although there is not much bass, the sound is very clear, and you can still hear the lower tones. I assume the lack of bass is a contributing factor to why the battery lasts for so long
One thing that surprised me was that my ears do not go well with normal cup earbuds, I usually have to use the shaped ones without the cups like the Apple or Samsung earbuds. Even when I use small earbud cup sizes, I often have trouble with my earbuds falling out. The design on these earbuds makes you twist them to go in and they actually stay in my ears very well I shook my head side to side, equalized my ears, and went running with them and they didn't come out.
Overall, I think that these earbuds are a great substitute for the apple air pods, and the long battery life along with the included charging case lasts me a good while of listening to music or calling people. Many of my Co workers and Classmates have asked about them and where I got them and I have been recommending them left and right, which is why I thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts about them here .
Here is the link to the amazon site where I purchased them: https://www.amazon.com/product-revi...=UTF8&filterByStar=five_star&showViewpoints=0
