Can't recive calls when WIFI calling enabled on SG2 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

WIFI calling enabled on SG2 won't receive calls
I've been flashing Roms for about three years now. I travel over seas quiet a bit and wifi calling is have been very helpful. But lately I've been having problems when I'm on any ICS roms. I don't know if it's just me, because looks like nobody else is having same issue, but I can't receive phone calls when wifi calling is enabled. It goes strait to voice messaging. I can make phone calls, but can't receive them. I have no problems with WIFI calling when running Gingerbread roms. Please help!

Might wanna take it up to tmobile if you confident you are following the ROM installing procedure.
How about go back to GB and see if you still have the issue

Thanks for the reply!
That's the thing, WIFI-calling is working just fine on ANY of GB ROMs (I'm running Darkside Digital Warfare v2.7 now). It's when I'm on ICS ROMs and WIFI-Calling is active incoming calls not going through, they are going to voice mail without one ring from the caller (it's like phone is off). But I can make phone calls no problem. And trust me I've tried all the new ICS ROMs that came out lately. And I do follow installing instructions very carefully.

Do you have the beats audio mod installed? I figured out with a few other people that it does cause an incoming call issue. And i know that wi fi calling is hit or miss on ICS

oh man. i just realized im having the same problem. i just didnt think anyone was calling me.

I called T-Mobile about this today, because none of my phones (S2, Blaze, Double play) would receive calls over WiFi. Ever since I called it's been working. Maybe it was a system update on the T-Mobile end?

But I can receive calls (wifi active) on all the GB ROMs I've tried. It's the ICS ROMs I'm having problem with... But thanks for the advice, I'll try calling T-mobile tomorrow.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus GSM problems on receiving calls while on WiFi

Hi guys!
I've been looking for a Post with this kind of problem but I couldn't find any such.
My problem is that sometimes, while i'm connected into my WiFi Access Point, i can't receive any phone call; even the icon bar is full and, in another hand, i can make some phone calls.
Then, when i'm not in Wifi mode, over 3G, i receive "lost calls" SMS from my provider.
Am I the only one with that problem?
My scenario:
GN ICS 4.0.2 changed from yakjuxw to yakju.
Regards!
Any idea ?
I sold mine because of dropped calls, the phone ring i slide to answer the call is lost!!!! i was on 4.0.2 .
Wow, i don't have that kind of problem.

No issues here, try a SIM card from a different carrier for testing.

Obviously the call is actually placed via the mobile network....
I'm explaining that I'm able to make calls while connected to WiFi... the thing you're talking about in your first post...

I'm using AOKP with 4.0.3 and franco.kernel. I'm almost always connected to wifi at home or at work. My baseband is KL1 and before that KK6.
I don't have issues with calls not getting through or dropping.

Do you know if is possible to update a baseband KL1 w/ official 4.0.2 ROM ?
If not, i'll be waiting for the new 4.0.3 version :/
I had my phone since release day, I just started having this issue 3 days ago, and this is with the verizon LTE model. Seems to drop off the network after 5 minutes. While wifi connected if i make a phone call, i will be able to recieve them for the next 5 mins or so. Using stock verizon galaxy nexus. If i turn wifi off i can recieve phone calls.
I have not had this problem and I am usually connected to WiFi wherever I am. I am using the GSM model on baseband XXKK6 in the US.
All im reading from you guys is that you're having this issue under non-stock ROMS... a few with stock... but those with ROMS just do a wipe, start all over... my GN is working fine... and im in Puerto Rico... with that said(worst signal in the planet Earth!!!!!)switch radios...

I reset my phone to factory (erase all data) and it has seemed to fix the issue for now. Will report back if it happens again, been working for 3 days now. Been completely stock since day 1, never rooted, never unlocked.

Definitely no such problems on my GN, which is connected to WiFi network about 90% of all time.

Bad news... it started happening again. I was even sitting in the VZW store, full signal wifi on. I get an voice mail notification. No indication i missed the call either.
By any chance are you using google voice as your voice mail? I was reading of people having issues receiving calls with google voice enabled, the timing seems about right for my problem as well, latest update was 1 day prior to me noticing an issue the first time. My next step is to wipe again and run without google voice.
Only thing verizon offered was a replacement, but i have had even worse luck with refurbished phones

[Q] Phone Doesn't Ring When Receiving A Call

Hey Everyone! So I'm having this problem where my phone will NOT ring or show that someone is even calling. The only way I found out that someone called me is when they text me asking why I didn't answer them. Well, my simple answer (that people are starting to not believe) is that my phone didn't even show that someone was calling... This wasn't so much an issue before because they could always text me if they needed to get a hold of me. But now after to applying to many places for a job, I kinda need it to ring. I also have another issue and that is that texts will not receive either. The only way I can get them is through Google Voice. This wasn't such a big deal to me but I would like to know if that can be fixed too. I have never had this issue until after I tried CM9. Since then I have tried many other ROMs to see if i still had this issue. I did.
The other ROMs I tried are:
MIUI v4
AOKP
Clean GB
Marcusant v3
MIUI Gingerbread
CM7
Legendary
What my current setup is:
ROM: AOKP
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband Version: S700.0.5S.EI22
Kernel Version: [email protected] #6
Build Number: IML74K
Mod Version: aokp_epicmtd_build-28
Theme: NONE
PLEASE!!! ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!
Odin back to stock EL30. Follow the procedure in the How to restore a semi-bricked Epic thread. Test it there. If it works root and flash, do not restore data.

I did this and (sorry for taking so long to get back to you but i wanted to make sure that it was happening often and not just once in a while) it worked for the phone ringing but the messaging, although im receiving them, they come late. sometimes VERY late like a whole day later. This is not cool and would really like to find a solution because i dont want to have to be stuck on stock :'( Oh yeah btw the ROM i flashed this time was AOKP. Thank you for the help!!
I believe late texts are a symptom of carrier network issues. It should clear up when the maintenance is finished.
Sent from my PantechP4100 using xda premium
I am having the same issue with the phone calls either coming in late or not at all. I test this by calling my number from a land line. It takes 4 - 5 rings before the phone will start ringing, if it rings at all. Most of the time, Google Voice answers for voicemail.
I remember back in the days when I had my Windows phone, there was something that we could do to have the phone poll the towers more often to make the phone ring faster. I know that this faster response to phone calls came at the expense of more battery usage. I wonder if some of the battery saving tweaks done by the ROM developers has had a negative effect on the phone calls coming in.
I have tried updating my PRL and whatever through EL30, then reflashing with out restoring any data. Still having the issue.
Thanks.
this same thing is happening to me and everyone else in my neighborhood that has sprint. Its one specific tower that's causing the issues. I know this because once I connect to a different tower the issue goes away. I contacted sprint about it and they said they would fix it when they do the network vision upgrades, which could be a ways away.

I kinda thought it was a problem with the network and so i called them and last time they sent me a airave and it didnt solve the problem. I still think its a problem with sprint overall and am planning on calling them.
I have the same exact problem. I have even had the phone replaced and it still does it. I only know when it happens because google voice logs the missed call. I have had it happen with a completely stock phone as well as rooted.
It is very frustrating because like you said, people don't believe you when you say that your phone did not ring.
They are actually going to switch my phone again. I know this is not going to fix the problem, but I will play the game!

[Q] Phone displays "Unknown Numer" when receiving calls

Ever since the update, my phone will sometimes not show a number from callers whos names and or numbers used to pop up. It just says "Unknown Caller/Number" even though before the update it would show their numbers. Anyone else experience this?
**EDIT**
Forgot to mention I'm fully stock.
My girlfriends phone also does this after the update and she is completely stock. I am rooted and on AOKP and haven't seen this yet.
Happening to me too, very annoying
I talked with tech support they made me do a full wipe, I did, and its still occurring. I just called in for a replacement, as I don't know what else it could be.
Probably by design by TMo so they can get you to subscribe to their caller ID app.

mine did that and fixed it self on its own. weird thing is this happening to alot of people
Use whitepages caller id. It should remind the phone about caller id, and you can uninstall it later if you so choose

+1 on this. It happens to me at random. Sometimes my girlfriends number will show fine and others it will show as unknown. Not just cellphones but she has called me from her work phone and it does has happened the same thing. super annoying!
I've been seeing this alot lately also...I work in tech support and the times I have seen this something has been off on the back end we can see. I saw it was a known problem 2 weeks back but they've since removed it. Instead of moving a couple of things and click a button technically a "trouble ticket" needs to be filed so TMobile's eng team can track down the issue.
I've found no other workaround then calling in..sorry
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I'm having the same problem. When I'm connected to wifi with wifi calling on, my caller ID works. But if I'm connected to the cell network with wifi turned off (or out of wifi range) then my caller ID almost never works. It's worked a few times when connected to the cell network but usually not. Have you guys called T-Mobile to let them know this is a widespread issue?
Hey guys to fix this issue, turn on Wi-Fi calling, place a call to the phone. Then change the settings on the Wi-Fi calling to use cellular network and place another call. After that it will stick until you flash another rom
Has nothing to do with wifi for me. Happens both on wifi and on cell.... Should we be sending in for a replacement? Also im on stock odin of ics. Not updated through kies. Very annoying issue i do not understand

Care to enlighten us on this "call waiting paradox"? I have never had an issue with call waiting.

It's important for you to specify carrier and which version of the phone you have. I presume from your other posts you have a Verizon GNex. The first respondent to your thread is in Manchester so I presume they have the same as I do - the GSM/HSPA version. I have never had issues with call waiting and I am thinking this is probably an issue with only the CDMA/Verizon variant.
there's an issue with call waiting? why didn't anyone tell me
maybe its an issue with your provider.
Well...I'm a Toro and have no issues.
Never did.
But do you mean the bug where you suddenly go mute to the other party?
I heard from most people that that was fixed for them on 4.1.1 ROMs.
Ok. So if I am on a call and I answer the phone to pick up call 2 everything is sort of fine but I cannot tell who I am on the phone with. It just say on a call. There is no where I can switch to the other call, call #1. No swap button, or anything. Then when I hang up with call #2 it seems to have hung up on call #1. But if u wait about 10 seconds the phone rings and call #1 is there... I cannot just simply hang up and call #1 is there. I am not the only person with the issue, as I have seen it frequently on the Web being reported.
I am on a Verizon LTE version of the phone. My fiance has the same phone, same issue.

Definitely doesn't happen on the HSPA version. Tried it last night.
I seem to remember a thread where someone was complaining about difficulty controlling multiple calls on the CDMA iPhone, and their screens looked significantly different from the GSM/HSPA iPhone. Are there certain limitations to CDMA networks?
I know the issue has been around since ICS. I have always experienced it, root and unrooted... Here are some other threads of people complaining, as I have researched this quite a bit. I would be willing to try out another for Verizion CDMA if I knew it would fix the issue. I am currently running "Vicious-Toro V1-JellyBean 4.1.1 "
Anyway here is another thread I have found with people complaining about this:

{REQUEST} T-Mobile Wifi Calling

I know its been asked before and I also know its been shot down before...but still trying to find out if anyone had any kind of success with making a tmo wifi calling app for the our beloved nexus. I know there are other options but I want to be able to call anyone and receive incoming calls with my tmo number.
Thanks
Unfortunately, T-mobile's wifi calling has hooks in the kernel and the ril, as well as now being baked into the rom itself. It's VERY unlikely that this will ever happen. Sorry.
I was afraid someone was going to say something like that.
