So in the next coming days I'm getting rid of my zagg is. I will be installing my Otter Box Defender case when it comes in! So I ask you... What is the best dry screen protector? I will be buying one for backup in case my defender case fails me! What company? Looking for a good one not the cheapest!
Thanks...

Seidio.
Clarivue is the best but the GS3 is extremely difficult to install. It is so thin that the covers labelled 1 and 2 were extremely difficult to peel off. I burned the first one and just salvaged it on the second one. They give you two so it is worth the trouble though.
honestly i decided in the end to not use my skinomi and just use the verizon dry ones, and its holding up pretty well so far
Fosmon would be my vote. My inspire has a Fosmon under the Defender and it worked great.
I love the Otterbox series! The one thing I hate is the screen protector that comes with it. I'm gonna do the same thing I did with my GSM Galaxy Nexus defender when i get my S3 defender this week. I will pop off the screen protector and use my current Zagg HD under the case. That Otterbox SP is the worst, the clarity and colors instantly goes to **** LOL!

I really liked it on my HOX so I have a feeling that I will like it on the S3 too.
Also thanks for all the replies guys! Its very helpful to see what you all think!
Seidio screwed up on the GS3's screen protector, its about 3/16" short. either you fully protect the screen and have the bottom edge of it at the top of the hard button.. problem is the bottom edge is what should be protecting the soft buttons!

Quick questions for those with the Defender. Did you guys remove the protective film that comes with it and use your own screen protector? I have one coming in a few days and I already have the Zagg screen protector on it, even though it starting to just get dirty all the time. I read a lot of people have to use baby powder/talcum powder on the built in protector to get rid of bubbles. Any help is greatly appreciated.
the built in protector doesnt have bubbles. it isnt sticky it just says on the otter box... no adhesive to phone side at all... its atually quite nice and makes the screen look more matte than glossy which i prefer

I hate all the built in protectors, I always rip them off. Zagg isn't the best wet imho, but it is better than the built in protector.

Thought no one else would chime in, thanks for the response.
I bought a zagg and a tpu case to hold me over until I could get my hands on a defender. Now I've.been using zaggs for quite sometime now they are soso. This is my first otterbox defender and i love the built in one better than my zagg...I hate the feel of zagg after its been on there awhile.

i've got the zagg screen protector under my ballistic case. You can tell it doesn't quite look right, but i can't afford another phone so i'll take knowing its protected. I have a friend that has the otterbox defender and he's doing exactly what you're asking about it. His phone works great.

Hey everyone!
One of the cases that I'm considering for my GS3 is the Otter Box Defender. I know that it has a built in screen protector, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the quality of the built in screen protector is like? ie, clear, glossy, matte, scratch and fingerprint resistant, absolute crap, etc...? Does anyone have the Defender and use a different screen protector with it? The more information, the better. Thanks!
The feel of it as they have always been more like a clear glossier plastic. Its not Matte or smudge proof thats for sure. Is it the best screen protector out? Most certainly not, but its not really meant to be removed but doesnt mean you can rip it off cause i have done so with other phones I had. Mostly because I have always been a big supporter and user of the ZAGG Protectors which in my opinion are the best in terms of quality and build. But you really dont want to have a screen protector on and then use the otterbox with the added screen protector. Two to me is too many and can cause some interference with touch controls. I know there is prolly a million people on here that will say otherwise and they have done it without issues just my honest opinion when i had one on phone then used otterbox case with attached protector as well I hated it. The touch for me was way off. But if you dont end up liking it just get you a good screen protector and then when you buy the defender just pop off the one that comes with it. No worries.
I just got the Defender last week for GS3 and Love it! Its an amazing case and love the holster. I always end up buying one of these cases for my phones cause they just LAST.
Cheers!:highfive:
Case is good but the screen protector makes everything pixilated. Really hard to get past for me. So I tore out the screen protector and had a zagg hd put on. Works out well.

It, sux it makes the screen look grainy, i sold it and got the commuter instead, i just bought the defender because the screen protector, and since it sux i rather have the bit slimmer commuter.
I love the commuter btw.
I took the screen protector out also. Don't let that be what steers you away from the defender. The case is awesome, the product support is awesome. I keep thinking about getting a stick on protector but haven't yet. I use the holster so the screen is protected by that most of the time. I have scratched and scuffed the outer rubber of the case however. I emailed otter support asking if I could buy replacement outers in the future and explained that I scratched the case... No defect of the product. They asked for pictures and the next thing I know I have an invoice in my email... They are sending me a whole new replacement! You can't beat that service.
Got the Black Defender and the screen protector is utter crap. Invested in a ZAGG HD and never looked back.
The quality of the built-in screen on the Defender made everything look so blurry and pixelated.

Yea, I agree with the replies, it does make the screen look ugly, but it's good protection for your phone, I work construction, so I didn't take it off

Disagree - it's not good protection, in fact is bad for it.
Buddy of mine had a defender for his phone before. Over time dust, grit and what have you worked it's way in between the otter screen guard and the screen itself. Then everytime you touch it has the same effect as rubbing sandpaper on your screen. His got murdered from it.
You need a screen protector that adheres to the screen itself to prevent fine grains of dust, dirt, sand or what have you from turning it into a piece of sandpaper every time you touch it.
After seeing the destruction wrought on his screen, was in the defender from day one, and now owning a defender myself, I fully understand why the most common mod to the case is to take an Xacto knife and cut the screen guard out.
Do that and use a quality shield on the screen, you will be very happy you did.
^ I usually take my case off every other week to clean it, and I was surprised to see that barly any dust got in at all, the only places I saw was around the top where the little hole is at and around the camera/flash /speaker área , maybe his case was defective? Over all I'm impressed to see how clean my phone is every time I take off the case.

I know that. But I'd rather buy one from someone actually recommending one from experience

I just bought this exact color case and only used the stock screen protector for 30 seconds before I decided I hated it. Otterbox made a great case but put an absolutely horrible piece of plastic over it. I popped the stock crap plastic out and am currently using a Spigen crystal curved screen protector ($15). It is excellent, easy to install and it covers 100% of the front face, from edge to edge. It also installs back into the defender without any issue at all and feels great, like there is nothing but the oem glass under your fingers.

yeah that's why I want to get a screen protector before the case gets here because I know the screen protector on it will be junk. i was thinking of going with a glass screen protector, but idk how it would fit with the otter box.
Hello Everyone,
I am interested in buying a glass screen protector for my phone. There are couple out there but I am unsure with which I should buy. I am debating between iloome Screenmate and Seidio Vitreo however I am not sure which is better. Do any of you have a good glass screen protector? Thanks
Buy a UAG case. It comes with a protector. If you want a holster, Amazon sells one by Reiko that even works with an Otterbox Defender. It's a fantastic holster, and was like 3 dollars. And the holster comes with a screen protector, too!
Honestly wouldn't spend a lot of money on one. Think they are mostly the same. Mostly paying for brand.
If you don't want a holster, just pick up some cheap intl s3 ones. Recommend you buy a pack.
If your not looking for a case that comes with a protector, I would just get a pack of clear protectors off of ebay for a few bucks. I had one on my phone before I got my otterbox defender, which has one built in. The cheap ones did just as good of a job as the one on my otterbox.
Man you guys totally did not answer his question, he's asking about those glass screen protectors not those crappy ones from ebay. Personally op I'd go with the Iloome simply because I have one and it is totally awesome. It feels just like glass and it doesn't interfere witb the touch screen.

How is the iloome with cases? I have a seidio active case, do you think it will be compatible?
I'm not sure what one you should buy since i use the cheap ones and love them. However, a buddy of mine has the Gorilla glass protector and I don't like it. It has a very weird texture to it. It's almost like orange peel with little divots all over it. I think this is meant to reduce glare... I just don't like the feel though. I may have to check out one of those iloome for myself though.

Honestly I've never tried their cases, I used to have an Otterbox Commuter as my main case but the last few months I've had a UAG case. Both are pretty awesome

My mom ordered this case without even talking to me lol.
Well how is it? and the screen protector..
seems like some generic tpu case with nexus printed on it. it will probably do the job, i have some random tpu case, and it saved my phone at least once. the screen protector probably won't be the best for at this price point. i don't think you really need one with the n5.

how is it next to the diztronic case?
I would say the case is fine and you can go up with it but....you cant rely on the screen protector as it does not sound that much of good quality...so case is ok but look for some better screen protector from manufacturers like ismooth , SGP , Zagg , Xtremegurad and many others are there...but I would suggest you to go for a dry one of SGP...
got it from the same seller, use for 1 week and throw it away.
the buttons are really difficult to press.
especially if you need to wake the phone up often
and the screen protector they send is for nexus 4.
useless.
