I'll do it....did you fully wipe first? Also some more information would be nice. Like..unlocked bootloader, custom recovery, etc. What you're running directly affect the steps taken to do anything.
i sent my tablet off to acer to get serviced because it would not boot up. when i got it back it had honeycomb. i got the ota upgrade to ics but it had "1.0014_cus" on the end of the ics version. im all stock, stock locked bootloader. i didnt want to go through all the rooting because this is my wife's tablet. i knew that it was a new update and the stock rom i had did not update. i just download the 1.0014_gen1 and renamed it update.zip and did the stock recovery update. thanks for replaying.

Ok, have you done a reset on it yet?
Power off tablet
Hold volume UP (furthest from lock switch)
Press and hold Power
Once it gets to the acer screen let go of power and toggle the lock switch a few times while holding Volume UP
should do a reset
reboot and report back.
Theres videos on youtube if you need a visual aid.

Thanks it worked. I did notice some sluggishness when doing somethings. but the sound works. i also noticed that when you are runing a app sometimes it jumps back to the home screen when just holding it. but thanks for the help.

The jumping to home happens to my wife almost constantly, but never to me. I think it's part of the hyper sensitive issue these have, combined with how it's being held at the time. I guess the way I hold it doesn't trigger it, but my wife does somewhow.
The sluggishness thing happens on occasion anyways, I've seen it alot on Acer and Acer based ROMs, but I don't seem to run into it on CM9 or Jellytime. Occasional reboots will also help with that.

So my power button all of a sudden broke. It won't turn off or on, the only way to power the phone off is to pull the battery and it turns back on by itself as soon as I put the battery back in. Doesn't anyone have any ideas? I've already done a factory reset, didn't change anything. Also, it doesn't work to select anything in recovery. So my 2nd question is if anyone can tell me how to flash the stock sprint rom so I can take it in and get it fixed?
.
Use the ruu it will run in windows
Same thing happened to my phone. Damn cheap power button. Was waiting for cm6 to work with the new version hardware. Now that it does I will be doing the same.
What I have been doing as a work around is using widget locker to remap the power button to the volume key. And have a screen off widget. I don't mind it but can't do anything in recovery either anymore. So I am gonna take mine in this weekend. I believe they will give you a replacement phone.
FYI - I got thinking that maybe it wasnt a hardware issue but maybe software - and it would have to be something higher up than the recovery system. Anyway, the button started working again and while it was I flashed a new HBoot thinking that maybe it was a corrupted driver or something. It seems to have fixed it, but YMMV.

You can use the ruu to restore our but it will most likely still show s-off in the bootloader. You can fix that by using adb in recovery mode to flash unrevoked forever while in the recovery

So, I have an issue here.
I rooted my wifes phone awhile ago, and recently she has been complaining that she has bad battery life, phone freezing, etc , eyc.
So I figured I would change roms and update CWM.
I relashed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076967
and everything went fine.
Phone rebooted as if it was back at a default rom, but still rooted.
So I went through the phone setup and got it up and running.
I then put the updated ClockworkMod 3.1.0.1 PURPLE UPGRADE RFS/EXT4 file on my sd card and turned the phone off.
I tried booting the phone into recovery by using the 3 button method and now I am stuck on the black Samsung screen.
I pulled the battery numerous times and I cant get this thing to boot at all.
Someone please help as I am lost here.
Thank you.
Just odin back to stock ec05 and start fresh with one click root + cwm3.1.0.1......
Edit: unless you haven't made a band backup yet then you should try your best to boot up regularly and make a titanium backup

Thanks....... Found a thread about using odin, and now have the phone back to default.
I guess I will go ahead and try this all over again.
Thanks for your help.
So, I ran the one click root method found here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076967
Everything went smooth.
Did all system updates, etc.
Phone was running just fine.
Now when I go to use the 3 button recovery method the phone stays put on the black samsung screen once again!
Cant even boot the phone normally now.
Why is the phone doing this?
This makes no sense at all.
Hmm..... try to flash a pre-rooted rom (like chris41g's ec05 plus rom) and then try to use the 3button method...... if this persists then you should probably stick to using quickboot to get into the recovery.....
Here's the link to the rom ---- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061912

Yep happens to me as well..... Odin back to stock EC05 again and try a different cable.
If after Odin to stock and rooting you still have problems maybe it is the order you are pushing the buttons. Press and hold camera button first, then add pressing and holding volume down, then add pressing and holding power button, holding all three until the recovery menu comes up.

Is quickboot the answer though.
Because if the phones battery dies, then I might be stuck again seeing it wont boot at all after I power it down.

My Galaxy Nexus has just started into a constant reboot cycle. The Google logo comes up and the the multi coloured animation thing like normal and then it goes back to beginning.
I never get to enter my pin or anything.
Has this happened anybody else?
It also gets quite hot after been in reboot phase for 20-30 mins.
Thanks

Im not sure on exact details other than its as it was when I bought it apart from 4.0.2 is installed
I didnt root it or change radio etc
I was just using it as normal, was going in to check battery level I think
ClockWork isnt installed
If I hold down power button and volume button and go into recovery options reocovery mode doesnt work, restart bootloader doesnt help either
Only other options I have are Start and Power off
When I try and go back into those options again all I get is a screen with green Android and Start > Downloading > Do not turn off target
It can stay in this screen for 5 mins or more and go nowhere
This happened earlier on as well so I just turned it off
I tried the same procedure again and I got the recovery menu again but it still didnt work and then tried it again and I just got the Downloading message again
Not sure if any of that helps, I cant check the kernel version anywhere right now.
Oh and its the GSM release of the Nexus

I choose recovery mode and the phone restarts, Google logo comes up and it then goes to a picture of android robot with a red excamation mark over it
It just stays there on that screen for about 2-3 minutes and then retarts
After restarting it goes through sme sequence as before constantly going from Google Logo to multi coloured animation and then restarts again. At no stage do I get to login screen.
Only other option I get when I hold down power button and volume button is to restart bootloader, start and power off.

Just to warn you, there's a good chance it will happen again eventually. A few days ago it happened to me for the second time (completely stock).
I decided this time to root it and install a custom rom seeing as how I'd have to flash stock again anyway. I'm hoping that whatever bug that caused it has been fixed in 4.0.3.

I bought the kids A100's last year for Christmas. I ended up un locking the bootloader because the ICS update was WAY too slow for my liking. Two weeks ago my sons decides that the unlock pattern is not going to work. You can get the screen to respond in a couple of spots and then go from there but the lines are jittery. I figure that it might need to have a hardware reset. Do that and get a screen with the bootloader info instead of erasing cache..
Find the sd card I had all the info on and tried to do a master rest. NO go. Brings me back to ICS and his lock pattern. I cannot remember how I unlocked the bootloader, did not add it to my favorites or anything else. Now I am stuck. If I am looking at this right the bootloader is unlocked and needs to be locked before I can do a recovery? Is that correct and how do I get that done and do a factory hardware reset?
Worried that if I call ACER with this I will void his warranty.
Power off, then hold power + furthest from the lock switch, press and hold power then toggle the lock switch a few times when the screen turns on to reset. It didn't reset if there is still a lock screen there.
Edit: forgot to mention, holding volume - while powering on will boot into recovery which if its twrp or cwm you can factory reset there, install a new ROM etc.

You definetly need to find out what you have done. As in if the bootloader is definetly unlocked and if you have a custom recovery. Just because it is not neccesary to do anything (ie: root, unlock or recovery) if you just wanted to flash a leaked ICS or the official.
Like Pio said, if you have a custom recovery, boot to it and factory reset/wipe data from there, or flash another rom/reflash. I'm not sure how the tab will react if you do a stock factory reset with the button sequence when you are rooted, unlocked bootloader, and custom recovery.
If the screen only responds in a few places, and is gittery in others, it could be a problem with the digitizer. Digitzer problems are reletively common on the A100. It would covered under warranty if you still have one. If it turns out nothing fixes it, I would restock it though with this concern. They may ***** if they can see it was flashed, if it was bricked it would be a different story.
I used a post on here to go from HC to ICS. Basically It was rolling the HC back first to get the update to push from Acer. I tried to find the post but am having a hard time finding it, and my dumb ass didn't subscribe to it.
This was about in April of this year.
Now when I try to do a hard reset (power + vol down + switch lock) it goes to a black screen with USB bootloader info in the top right corner (near the vol switch). I don't have it with me so I cant tell you right now exactly what it says.
I would have posted sooner, but didn't get emails that there were responses.
Thanks for everyone trying to help. I will try to get back on this this afternoon.

I take it you did the process of going back to HC already and now you can't boot? If its saying its boot loader info in the right corner then its certainly not an ICS boot loader, thats in the upper left corner. It also says ICS in it. Let us know what its actually saying when you boot and we can go from there.

OK top left of the screen where the volume button reads:
Bootloader v0.03.13-ics: Starting Fastboot USB download protocol
This time I was able to do the erase user data. Got to the Welcome screen with the language and Country. Cant get the screen to respond.I am guessing at this point that the screen is shot and needs to be replaced (under warranty) however I need to make sure that this is set to Factory specs so that I don't have to worry about voiding the warranty.

It sounds stock to me. From what you have said, I think all you did was revert back to a HC version to get the ICS update ( which some did bck when ics came out if their version wasnt getting the update). If you did this a few months ago, you are just running a stock ICS version.
If that is the case is something missing from the ROM that I cannot get it to reconfigure everything automatically? I thought that it should go directly to the recovery information and reflash the entire tablet (may have the terminology screwed up).

If your talking about Google's sync. If you have it turned on and sync'ed prior to a factory reset, and turned on after. It will sync some stuff, it may restore your desktop wallpaper, contacts, WiFi info and some apps. But it will not restore it perfectly. Either way if your screen is still messed up, I think your OK to warranty it. IMO. Verified if your bootloader is locked, and under settings > about tablet, you are running ICS version 4.0.3 with a stock Acer build number.
I cant get there though. The screen will not respobd to input. I was going to try a bt mouse and keyboard but not having screen inputs puts a damper on that.
And about reconfiguring I was refering to the os and stock software not yhe stuff from play.

Ah I think you mean a factory reset. It doesn't flash anything, it erases /cache and /data (not /data/media but that's another story) and let's the system purge any settings apps or data causing issues.
The system itself is left untouched, if its rooted it stays rooted, if something is corrupted or damaged or missing, it stays that way through a reset.
To replace the system itself you'll need to attempt to flash a stock ROM zip named update.zip on the root of your external SD card and powering on holding the volume - key closest to the lock switch.

I've been looking on multiple other threads for the last few days now but haven't found a fix. I updated my S3 from 4.1.2 to 4.3 through the phone(AT&T recommended update) and it worked for 4 days but was very glitchy. Then it shut off one day with 50% battery and wouldn't turn back on. I tried pulling the battery and turning it on but it would generally fail after it reached the galaxy s3 logo. Can't stay in download mode or recovery mode without it crashing. I sometimes I found that if I leave the battery out for an over 4-5 hours, it can get it to boot and reach my home screen but it soon crashes. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I have been without a phone for about a week. Thank you.

Unfortunately no, the phone doesn't stay on long enough. And I've tried with and without the phone plugged into a charger or my computer but neither really help.
Any warranty left on your phone? If not, you could try flashing a custom recovery in Odin if the phone will stay in download mode, then wipe data, cache from the custom recovery.

No I'm pretty sure the warranty is ended since I've had the phone for about a year and 3 months and don't have any insurance through AT&T. How would I go about flashing a custom recovery? Is there a link to a tutorial you could refer me to? Just in case I could get the phone to stay in download mode long enough. Thanks for all your help by the way. I really appreciate it.
Okay. Download the tar version of Philz Touch Recovery from here: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2att
Install it using Odin by selecting pda and browsing to where you saved the CWM file. Flash it, go into recovery, and wipe.

The flash worked and now my phone is staying in recovery. It got into recovery mode and did a factory reset. Now I started up and I started setting up my phone (wifi, google account..) but it crashed multiple times during that setup time. I haven't reached the home screen yet. Occasionally it will boot loop once or twice before reaching the setup again......
So I finally got to the home screen and it crashed (after about 7-8 crashes and reboots). Could it be 4.3 or maybe a hardware problem?
Could be either but let's assume it is an OS issue. Did you flash a custom rom?

No I didn't, I don't know of one that I should flash? Recommendations?
Also, my phone was just on for about 8 minutes and was working. I noticed that my power/lock button was extremely touchy and i would barely have to touch(not press it) to lock it. If I press it (like I use to to lock it, it pulls up the power off/options and if I don't do anything about it, it will shut off and restart(boot loop) until i pull the battery and turn it on myself. So I think it might be a problem with the power button being too touchy that it just turns off. Do you know if there is a way to disable the power button?
I run Cyanfox on my brother's S3 and it's pretty stable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480007
Yes, the power button could be causing the problem. Sounds like the power connection and/or board may be defective.

Alright I will try to see if I can get that to work. Now the phone is rarely making it to the home screen and if it does, it only stays for at most a minute. Generally it's back to it only getting to the initial Samsung logo.

Alright well it worked right off the bat for about 15 minutes and then crashed. Now it is doing the same sort of thing it was before. It will rarely make it to the home screen but typically just crashes before it gets there. It will crash and then only sometimes turn on when I press the power button. Other times I have to pull the battery and occasionally it will boot loop once or twice.
I think the power button is now the issue.
