I understand the ATT SGS3 SGH-I747 with MSM8960 has the same frequency capabilities as the T-Mobile's SGH-T999, but as far as I know nobody has tried to enable AWS on the ATT SGS3 for use on AWS networks. Popular word on the street is that the T-Mo has MSM8260 but I haven't been able to verify that either.
If there is not a request to dev or prove this ability, I would like to request that we try to get the ATT SGS3 (or any SGH-I747) working on T-Mo's AWS frequencies.
Are you a developer? Think before you post something. Wrong place this is a general topic..'

I just got this baby unlocked, FINALLY, and was wondering if I need to flash any modem/radio to get the best possible performance.Thank you all for your awesomeness!
I don't think there's any specific modem that would work best under those circumstances, particularly as modem performance seems to be location-dependent; if you're curious, you could just cycle through all of the available modems and see what works best for you in your area.
I believe you're in the wrong forum. This is the forum for the i747 Galaxy S III.
If you're on T-mobile, you'd have the T999, which is in a separate forum over here
The differences are the T999 doesn't have an LTE transceiver and the radio uses the AWS band rather than the PCS band for HSPA.

...which he unlocked, and now wants to use on the T-Mobile network. This does not mean he has a T-Mobile device.
Hey guys,
I noticed there was a section in the Band Selection menu using *#2263# for selecting WCDMA 1700
I have my SIII unlocked, is there any chance in hell that choosing wCDMA 1700 in the options would give me 3G on Winds AWS 1700 Frequency Network?
If not I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021&page=25
Can anyone clarify this for me?
(In the back of my mind i know it's probably a no.)
However, I'm using WIND sim now, and it's in WIND away with 5 bars and I can text call whatever. (Might have something to do with the fact that Wind Outsources to Rogers, hence why it's working in WIND Away.)
Anyone?
Just tried, didn't work. About to try editing the NV values like in that thread. If I do it successfully (knock on wood) I'll do a quick more clear and precise write up.
I tried that as well, sold my i747m and going with a nexus 4. Sigh.
NV values did nothing. Just like everyone else says, AWS 1700MHz is disabled via hardware.
400 dollar bounty and no one will pick it up, I bet.

Let's see. You are on Verizon. With a S4. This is the AT&T S3 forum. Yep, I would say wrong area.
Try asking in this forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2258
But general guess would be no.
No i'm giving him my old Verizon Galaxy S3 to be used on AT&T

Your Verizon or Sprint S3 can be unlocked and flashed to work with another CDMA carrier such as Cricket/boost/Metro etc.
AT&T and T-mobile use sim cards and can be unlocked to switch between GSM carriers. So unless I am mistaken, it is not possible to use a Verizon s3 on AT&T.
you have CDMA version; friend is GSM. will not work on this device. Most of the world is GSM; i travel a lot so i always use GSM carrier in USA. There are no CDMA carriers in France, Greece, Italy, (im Greek and have friends/family/work in Southern Europe) UK (i think Ireland proper has CDMA carrier) and only one in Belarus, one in Ukraine and two in Russia (GF is from that area) so we stick with GSM from carriers in USA now (used to buy intl models when WinMo5/6 was popular).

technically, i believe the verizon s3 takes a sim card for LTE....... but even with that said, a verizon s3 isn't going to work on ATT because of it having a cdma radio instead of a gsm.

hello everyone
first off it's been a while since i have been on the xda forums so please move or delete the thread if it's not ok.
i did search for this topic in forums and google'd it also but couldn't find this specific situation.
first off i'm from europe, but have been studying in the US for about 2 years now.
i'm using t-mobile in the US as carrier and that's why i posted it in the t-mobile forum here.
my family wants to give me a galaxy s4 for my birthday but i don't know whether or not it would work with the 4g bands of t-mobile in the US.
i know they refarmed the frequencies and i do have 4g with my iphone5 (which i bought in the US).
according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile_US#4G_LTE_upgrade t-mobile is using the 850/1700/1900/2100 bands.
compared to this http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Term_Evolution#Deutschland which are bands 3 / 7 / 20
on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-UTRA#Frequency_bands_and_channel_bandwidths the Channel
Bandwidths (MHz) are the same, but the channels are different (3 <-> 4)
now my question:
does anyone know if i can use the german phone with the t-mobile plan same frequency or won't it work since the channels are different ?
thanks in advance

What LTE bands does the S4 T-Mobile variant support? Will LTE work on AT&T or Telus, or Bell? Or is it just hspa on networks other then T-Mobile or Wind or Videotron?
I have a t mobile s4 that I unlocked to use on at&t. It gets LTE. I believe the t mobile s4 is the only variant with 4-5 LTE bands being supported.
