Hey guys,
I noticed there was a section in the Band Selection menu using *#2263# for selecting WCDMA 1700
I have my SIII unlocked, is there any chance in hell that choosing wCDMA 1700 in the options would give me 3G on Winds AWS 1700 Frequency Network?
If not I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021&page=25
Can anyone clarify this for me?
(In the back of my mind i know it's probably a no.)
However, I'm using WIND sim now, and it's in WIND away with 5 bars and I can text call whatever. (Might have something to do with the fact that Wind Outsources to Rogers, hence why it's working in WIND Away.)
Anyone?
Just tried, didn't work. About to try editing the NV values like in that thread. If I do it successfully (knock on wood) I'll do a quick more clear and precise write up.
I tried that as well, sold my i747m and going with a nexus 4. Sigh.
NV values did nothing. Just like everyone else says, AWS 1700MHz is disabled via hardware.
400 dollar bounty and no one will pick it up, I bet.

So I bought the HTC touch pro 2 online around last year... I bought it unlocked .... and now I have a question is my phone a GSM or CDMA?
How can I tell...?
If it helps it says the
network is HSPA/WCDMA:
900/2100MHz
Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
I really wanna flash rom to WM 6.5.....so if someone can please tell me what type is it?
Thanks!!!
PS. not sure if this is the section to post, i apologize in advance!
The General Touch Pro 2 forum would be the right place. This has nothing to do with ROM development.
Your phone is GSM. GPRS, EDGE, and (believe it or not) WCDMA are all names for the data technologies used on a GSM network.
Also, you must have put your SIM into the phone to get service. CDMA phones do not have SIM cards, only GSM phones do.
Moved as not ROM Development.

Remove the battery. There should be a model number such as RHO100, RHO200, etc. What does it say?
I understand the ATT SGS3 SGH-I747 with MSM8960 has the same frequency capabilities as the T-Mobile's SGH-T999, but as far as I know nobody has tried to enable AWS on the ATT SGS3 for use on AWS networks. Popular word on the street is that the T-Mo has MSM8260 but I haven't been able to verify that either.
If there is not a request to dev or prove this ability, I would like to request that we try to get the ATT SGS3 (or any SGH-I747) working on T-Mo's AWS frequencies.
Are you a developer? Think before you post something. Wrong place this is a general topic..'

Hello i have this s3 747m from virgin
I unlocked it using the steps in this forum from hidden menu
I did a network search and found 302490 (wind 1700MHz)
I went to wind store and put a wind sim in but it wont work only emergency and when trying to dial out it gave me not registered device msg
I did a network search and it came up only wind away 3 times
So with virgin sim i can find 302490
Can someone explain pls why i cannot use i on at least one of the aws bands
I also noticed that there is no 2100 MHz aws on the hidden menu
Im sorry if this has been discussed previously but i couldn't find it
Thanks
My friends nobody can help me out?
I'm willing to drop the LTE if neccesary cause I don't have in my area anyway
Thanks
As far as I know nobody has been able to use anything but Wind S3's on wind
AFAIK The i747 will not function on wind's network. You need a T999 to run on their HSPA over AWS network.

I went thru that post a while ago and that triggered me to post because I do have aws support but why I cannot use at least the network that my phone finds
And funny thing is that I'm only able to find wind not mobilicity
I know wind uses 1700/2100 aws not sure if mobi uses both
My explanation that I'm able to find wind would be that it uses one of the bands that i747m have but cant understand why I cannot use at least one of the bands if I'm able to scan it
Any suggestions?
Thanks
anybody?
So apperantly T-Mobile rolled out 1900 at my wives work and at our home, as far as I know 1900 supposed to penetrate buildings better and we are suppose to see better speeds. Well I haven't seen any speed improvements and my wives and my phones still don't work at her work inside or at near by shopping mall.
Does the Galaxy Nexus support the 1900Mhz frequency?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I thought most GMS phones support 1900 2G and Nexus supports 1900 3G
Yes its a pentaband phone that supports 850,900,1700,1900,2100 bands for HSPA+. In regards to the OP's question; I have no clue as to how much the impact of the new frequency will help you with indoor coverage as I don't have t-mobile. I do hope someone comes along though and can shine some light on it though.
I see now, they deployed 1900 3g, while Nexus does support it, my wives phone doesn't. But I still have not noticed any improvement on mine
i thought I read somewhere that if you dial *#*#4636#*#* then go phone info, then menu "select radio band" and the select USA band it will use the 1900. I don't get it at my place so can't try (only goes to edge for me)
I didn't think 1900 will show any speed or connection improvement. Should be about the same... They only changed to 1900 because LTE will be taking over 1700 band...
Is there an app that can tell us what band we are on?
All system settings shows is network type, but not the frequency.

My finding using Haipai x710d phone, getting 3G;
Doing *#*#3646633#*#* or using app MobileUncle Tool, and going to the
Band Mode menu - the following bands are checked as supported
GSM Mode:
EGSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900, GSM850
UMTS Mode:
WCDMA-IMT-2000, WCDMA-PCS-1900, WCDMA-CLR-850, WCDMA-800
So Based on this 3G should work for AT&T, and T-Mobile (in areas that have the 1900 reframe)?
Update:
I was able to try AT&T 3G in Atlanta GA area and I was able to get 3G, AT&T 3g data runs on WCDMA-CLR-850 in the Atlanta area; With 3 bars i got Down 4MB, Up 1.1MB.
I'm still not able to test the WCDMA-PCS-1900 band, I don't think AT&T uses the WCDMA-PCS-1900 band in my area (gave it to T-Mobile as part of the merger failure). I'm still looking for a confirmation that WCDMA-PCS-1900 band really works?
I have recently purchased an LG Optimus G pro, LG E-980 - the ATT phone.
I am trying to set it up to use with my carrier Mobilicity here in Vancouver BC.
Mobilicity is on the AWS Band 4 frequency, just like WInd Mobile here in Canada and T-Mobile in the US.
The phone has been unlocked and rooted but when I try to select my carrier from the list under Network Carriers,
it does not appear.
The specs on this phone do indicate that it should work with this frequency but I cannot seem to get it to work.
I have added the appropriate APN settings for data and MMS but I cannot even get voice let alone data.
I have set the network mode to WCDMA Only but still no luck.
I have discovered the hidden menu but do not know what if any changes to make.
Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
From my understanding of reading the specs is that this phone can support AWS (1700/2100).
Any thoughts?
Thank you
It should at least get EDGE to make voice calls. Where did you read that the E980 has AWS bands? It doesn't. It may work with LTE but not WCDMA. If it's not making voice calls, check swappa's ESN checker and see if the IMEI has been blocklisted.
it does support aws - for lte.
i read it in the specs and there are other users on this forum that are using it on tmobile lte
imei is fine and it doesn't do 2g voice only because this carrier only supports 3g aws for data - no edge
i am interested if the method mentioned on this forum titled "Enable AWS band (3g/4g Tmobile) on ATT Note 2 stock baseband" would work
that method has also been used for the same purpose on the samsung s4
I believe the s4 uses the same snapdragon 600 soc so i would like to know if this could be ported over to work with the g pro
not sure but newer player like mobilicity/wind do not have the 2g frequency....it use the 1700/2100 frequency... it should work since the ogp have the 1700 and the 2100 frequency...the same is for those who are on the T-Mobile in u.s.a....
yes i believe i said that mobilicity/wind do not support edge.
it does support 1700/2100 for lte - that is confirmed.
trying to find out if phone can be modded to support wcdma 1700/2100
if it should then great - does anyone know how to proceed.
thanks
Tried to contact OP but haven't heard back for over a week now and just wondering if this can indeed work with Wind/Mobi network? Anyone have this workign? It "seems" like it should work...

I never did manage to get this working. I kept searching online but no info was available.
I believe it can be done, but I don't know how.
This link also confirms this but gives no further data.

*** see "Optimus G Pro (E980)" ***
Good luck and please let me know if you have success.
Cheers
I was hoping to buy this phone to use on Wind's network and save myself a few hundred instead of buying the LG's G2 (end up buying that). I tried contacting Wind and they said it needs to have both the 1700/2100 band but it seems to need something else on top of that. GL and hope you figure it out.
