Am I dreaming or is the option to edit the calendar for an existing event no longer available in 4.1.1?
Can someone with 4.0.4 confirm that you can change the calendar for an existing event? (As is, two what calendar the event should be under)
Thanks!
This is present in 4.0.4. You have to click on the calendar bit at the top of the event and it gives you a drop down.

Is that when creating or editing an existing event? I'm can't seem to be able to switch the calendar once the event is created under JB.
Editing. I'm not sure why they'd remove it. Anyone else on JB confirm that you can't change it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Can't change calendar of existing event either (JB 4.1.1). Even with a third part app (business calendar) I can't - the dropdown menu is greyed out!
Apologies... Just tried it again and I can't change it. I think I must have done it to a new event before. Sorry!
Looks like it wasn't possible in 4.0.4 after all.

Possibly a limitation of it importing events that were originally done in ICS?
Nevermind, I get it. No, I've never been able to change the calendar of an event as far back as I can remember.

I can also confirm it wasn't possible in 4.0.4. In fact, one of the main reasons I upgraded to 4.1 as soon as I could was in hopes that it was fixed in JB.

Thanks for the feedback, I guess I was not remembering this correctly. It's odd that such simple things aren't looked after by Google. The other one is the lack of rich text signature in Gmail.
I don't have any future dates to test, but I can't seem to edit past ones either.
I've never been able to do this. My wife sometimes places shared events under events that are just for her. I've never been able to fix that on my phone.
tab the event, look for the pen symbol and edit the event.
to delete click on the trash symbol
As the poster above says.
Works for me, I can edit entries just fine

Editing is fine but can you move entries between calendars? That's what the OP was asking? I don't think it's supported in ICS or JB.
Same here, can't change calendar when editing an event. I think this has been a problem since ICS as well.
location link to google maps
Hi you all,
It's not quite same problem, just I'm talking about the same app.
On ICS, as GB, Froyo, Eclair and so on, the Location field on any event could be understood as a link to google maps. Now, in JB it's not a link. Therefore, there's no easy way to use the navigator to reach to your destination.
Does anybody know a simple method to convert the location fields to google maps links? I have the same problem with Business Calendar, but given that this app provides a third party link I could use that.
Cheers.

I am seriously digging the new Gmail app. Very refreshing change from that boring POS old app.
I do wish I could turn of the conversation mode. Anyone figure out a way to do that? I haven't been able to do it.
i agree that overall its great, wish i could pinch to zoom in messages so i could see most or all of the email at once.
That's my only gripe. Can't see all of the email and when I try to swipe over to see more, it goes to the next email. Maybe a future update will make it better.

I think he's referring to the versions shipped with Gingerbread and prior.
Yeah it's a major improvement from the Gingerbread version.

Is there any rhyme or reason to how the folders in the Gallery app are ordered in ICS? I swear, they just appear to be in a COMPLETELY RANDOM order, and it is maddening. It's not alphabetical, it's not by date - what is going on? Has anyone figured out a way to bring some order to this mess? It's extremely frustrating.

mine is sorted by album. You can change how its sorted by clicking the top left sort option.

The problem I'm referring to is that when it is sorted by album, the albums themselves are not actually sorted (e.g., they're not listed alphabetically). When you have a large number of albums, this makes it very difficult to find the one you're looking for. I didn't have this problem in the stock gallery app in Gingerbread or in Honeycomb.
Only workaround is to use 3rd party app, QuickPic. Works wonders for me. I just can't use the stock gallery.
Hi all,
My phone is rooted. Not a fan of the Sense 4.0 SMS/MMS app. I know I can download the default ICS 4.0.3 MMS.apk from the market.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.concentriclivers.mms.com.android.mms
When I go to install it, it says it will overwrite the existing application. Before I get reckless...
Couple questions:
- Why is there no existing mms.apk in /system/app ? I can't find it. Does HTC call it something different or...?
- How do I backup the current Sense version in case I screw this up and need to restore it?
- Is the Sense one tightly integrated into the rest of Sense? Will it break other apps, widgets...?
So far I got this working.
1. installed stock ICS SMS from market
2. backed up and removed /system/app/Message+CRC_1.apk
3. rebooted phone
Haven't tested MMS nor any sense features that might bomb (I hope not)
I'll update thread if there are any problems and I need to roll this back
Any Update
Hey. Just wondering if you had any update on how this worked? Everything still fine? I want to go to the ICS MMS app, cause the sense one isn't as nice.

I use it daily, the SMS app works perfectly. Love this change.
The HTC SMS widgets that display your messages on your desktop may not work (don't think mine do) but this is easily remedied by just finding other widgets in the market etc. Just don't put the default HTC ones on your desktop.
Won't uninstalling the app just automatically put stock sense app back in there?

No. The stock ICS app does not play nice with the stock Sense app, you can't have them both on the phone at the same time. Its not like when you install GOSMS or something.
I had to actually delete the sense app right off the phone completely for it to work properly. Otherwise I had strange problems such as messages being sent twice.
Since I physically deleted the sense app there is no going back without re-installing the sense APK.
Did you save the stock apk? No joke one of my hesitations is the messaging app. If I can switch to stock ICS for messaging I may be ordering mine yet tonight.

Honestly no why would i? I updated this post to be kind but I'm not building something here, this was for my own use and it works perfectly. I'd that's not what you're looking to hear, find another thread. I won't lose sleep at night.
As for backing up the original sense app, yes I did see step 2 above. I used adb for this just pull the file.
Again this works perfectly If anyone cares to try it. nothin to lose, if you don't like it just put the sense file back and reboot.
I installed both the calendar and the sms app today and they seem to work fine. Haven't tried mms. Haven't uninstalled anything yet, will see if I run into trouble. Thanks for posting readk, been searching for this but didn't find it until now
EDIT: Ran into problems immediately of course where pressing the Messaging app launched the HTC Messages app. Following your instructions for backup and removal seems to have done the trick though. Next step will be to do the same for the calendar

Wow, get out of the basement once in a while and realize how to communicate with humans. I simply really liked the idea of stock ICS messaging on the HOX and since I don't have mine yet I was just asking to see it because I imagine it would look really awesome. Why would you? I guess since you were sharing what you were doing I thought you wouldn't mind. Guess not.

I just updated my Samsung Galaxy Nexus from 4.0.1 to 4.0.4, and now my Google Reader Unread widget is 2x2 instead of 1x1, unnecessarily taking up 4 spots on my home screen instead of only 1.
Am I the only one with this issue?
Thanks.
UPDATE: This seems to be an issue with the 1.1.5 Version updated on June 21, 2012
Here is my workaround:
1) Downgrade Google Reader to 1.1.1 here: http://www.apktops.com/google-reader-1-1-1.html
2) Add a new Reader Unread widget (should be 1x1)
3) Feel free to upgrade Reader back to 1.1.5, and your widget will stay as 1x1

Is this really an "issue"?
Get Apex Launcher. Increase your grid size to 10x10 if you want.
Sent from the future.
Mostly, I'm trying to find out if I'm the only one having this. It was 1x1 before I upgraded, but there was also an update for google reader.
I even tried resetting to factory to see if something was just messed up.
There is absolutely no reason for it to be on 2x2, and I don't understand why it would be.
I'm looking for some help here, and I'm not going to change my home screen just because of this.
This is my first experience with a phone supporting 4.0, and I want to give Stock Nexus a chance.

Try searching a previous version of Google Reader apk online, download, and install. Maybe that update is what did it. I don't use reader but after reading "There was an update for reader," it seems like a logical assumption.
Sent from the future.
I just did a quick check and you are right. The widget is now 2x2 for some reason. I recall reading something about the update fixing issues with tablets.
I had the 1x1 widget already on my homescreen before I did the recent update so luckily it's still there only taking up 1x1. When I try to add another new one though, its 2x2.
Hope they fix this ASAP.
Heh, yeah, same for me. Looks totally absurd. It's very much due for a visual refresh anyway, that widget looks very Froyo.

Also, another update, I downloaded the old version (1.1.1) here:
http://www.apktops.com/google-reader-1-1-1.html
And now it's back to the proper 1x1 widget. Thanks for the help.
Can you guys post the new feature you found in 4.1.2? Currently I flashed the takju 4.1.2 factory image, and I think it's almost the same as 4.1.1
Features/Bugfixs found from replies
1. One finger swipe to expand rich notifications. (boyzzykid)
2. Moving the Location settings out of the old settings to it's own settings page. (boyzzykid)
3. 4.1.2 build does not contain either the /system/recovery-from-boot.p or /system/etc/install-recovery.sh, so it will not automatically install the stock recovery upon reboot. (Palaryel)
4. There is a new language selection screen (when you enter your phone for the first time - fresh install). (Joplisan)

One finger swipe to expand rich notifications and moving the Location settings out of the old settings to it's own settings page. That's pretty much it for GN users other than translation fixes and minor changes.
I've had to install 4.1.2 from the stock images from google sinceI ****ed up some things in my 4.1.1. rom that i couldnt fix that easily...anyway, ive noticed that the 4.1.2 build does not contain either the /system/recovery-from-boot.p or /system/etc/install-recovery.sh, so it will not automatically install the stock recovery upon reboot

The webbrowser has improved alot when viewing flash content. It loads up almost instantly. Web pages also load faster now. My nexus beats the S3 and the iPhone 5 on web browsing (my own test on 100MB fiber optics internet).
