Better wait for a patch of the cm7 of phiexz cause im using it right now and its has a problem on sound. Its so much low. Everithing else its stable. If you choose it instal beats audio mod on Ace forums, the Ultimate Media Enchancement on themes and apps forums. With this two scripts the sounds back to normal but its a little low anywhere :/

phiexz now share his ROM at gio community, or you can straight download from his blog. http://android.phiexz.com
for sound problem in his blog phiexz got the answer.
there is hardly communication. about the rom
is a2sd. still proprietary?
is this kernel related?
copying. library. files from anywhere to anywhere is no solution just an idea....

Hi there, u sound so... sad  be a little bit optimistic will ya? LOL I have a series of rom collection that is, according to me, stable enough: PX's CM7, Delano's LEWA, Delano's MIUI GB, self built CWM DXKT8, AOKP ICS B40, tioammar's Android X (my current rom)
Seriously none of the above came stable enough out of the box except PX's CM7 & tioammar's Android X (most stable, ready to use right after flashing), but doing some stuff to the rom makes them (those not too stable) stable enough for daily use
so keep ur spirits up :good:
i have not seen tips to make roms really more stable...
use a2sd to free memory but all but standard (public available beta) is stable, s2e made it to work for . 2. full minute's. and had to reflash...
problems with the later Rome with beautiful. cm menues is the entered. data is not applied..settings get corrupted and the whole thing locks up, leaving a completely. unreliable. phone.
a phone without sound is no solution then....
realty love the stability. brought by phietz
but not seeing any comments nor explaining. makes. me a bit sad.
with the other Rom believe. me i tried most of them but every, daily (required) reboot doesn't, warranty me the basics..... feel ashamed. to walk arround and can not pick up the phone in timely due to. one or other lockup or crash reboot in-between a call.
Enthusiastic Gio User
Very glad with the work done
But sometimes a pusher for results( nothing bad intended)
i will be forced to go back. to stock rom
as i was in the pre phietz. period
I see, perhaps there are some difference in your standards of requirement for rom spec and mine
Back when CM7.2 start to have stability issue with A2SD and S2E (2 months ago estimated) I started to switch permanently to Link2SD, but it wont free as much rom space as the other 2, then I started to open up the rom and bareboned it as much as I could go without damaging the stability, there are plenty of guide for this, cyanogen has his own barebones list, the OP for Adrenaline has his own guide for it too, those 2 were my guides, as for apk that I am not sure of deleting, I would google it up and do some trial n error, up to today, everything seems fine to me. A bareboned rom will eat up 45mb right after installation, that will leave a lot of space for Link2sd to work with the rest of the apps that I need to install on my phone.
init.d scripts: I have been using reference from zeppelinrox's V6, Adrenaline, and Pikachu's Thunder Bolt Package, but I do not use all of them together, Adrenaline is most suitable for Gio because the author wrote it for Ace, which has almost identical spec to gio, but I do not use all of his tweaks, instead, I opened up all the scripts written in the above packages and read the tweak sentence by sentence, I am not a programmer/ IT guy, in fact, I work in a hotel for a living, muahahahaha  when I started I dont have a clue about what is on my laptop screen, but I took my time and read through the entire V6, Adrenaline, Thunderbold thread, and slowly beginning to understand, and still am learning, muahahahaha  the scripts may not be perfect, but it does help in speeding and stabling stuff for the phone.
Sound: I have to agree with u that the latest release of PX CM7 has low sound, again, I use some available sound boost package available, well not @ XDA, but @ Delano's forum, it helps the rom "a bit" and frankly from what I have in my AOKP rom, none of the CM or even the STOCK rom's sound can compare to it, muahahahaha  but ICS AOKP port is still far from what I need from my phone function for my work, so I switched back to CM7 but due to missing AOKP setting style, instead of PX's CM, I picked tioammar's Android X because the settings panel is "SLICK" muahahahaha
update-cm-7.2.0-20120602-NIGHTLY-gio-AROMA.zip from PX is a nice rom, to counter the camera bug (governor switch back to ondemand), u could flash his latest cm kernel px-kernel-20120606-cyanogenmod7 and the bug will be gone...
Its nice to see u pursuing high standards, I compromise some stuff off, muahahahaha

Depends if you want a technical explanation or simple?
As simple as it gets.. Nothing!
They are both GREAT Rom's by GREAT developers. However, they are also BOTH in "pre-stable" release status. This doesnt mean they arent stable, actually they are both insanely stable. It just means neither is a "Final Product"
Both share most of the same basic features and neither really has a downside or drawbacks.. it's all personal preference. I LOVED Oxygen when I was running it, but for me, the new features/tweaks/bugfixes of the CM7 nightlies just drew me in
Both have their own HBOOT, both support A2SD (though Cm7 is a seperate flashable zip) and both have a pretty stable following as far as theme support..
It really just comes down to you.. read through the threads/changelogs and see if one draws your attention more than the other.. remember, once you are rooted, it only takes a minute or two to flash a new ROM.. if you dont like the one you choose, try the other.
I find that CM7 actually works. I can't get Oxygen to install at all. The download messes up so the md5 is a mismatch and as such, when installed it doesn't. Just returns a bad request. But as mikeandjaimie said, there are very little differences. To be honest, you can't get someone to tell you what is better or not. It is down to you. Your own preference. Try them both out for a little bit and see which you like.
I've tried both over the last week (tried GingerVillain too) and I prefer Oxygen out of the 2 you mentioned. it's very basic, but I really like it. only had a problem with the Launcher Pro calendar widget, but everything else works fine. On CM I had some bad battery drain, but other people like it.
I actually managed to get Oxygen to work today and I am testing it a bit. Obviously there are still going to be bugs around but it's pretty stable. Oxygen is minimal. It uses the default Android launcher whereas CM7 uses ADWLauncher. I can't really tell the difference between them both really. Like I said above it is down to preference. There are no real differences at all.

What features do you prefer in CM7 as opposed to oxygen?
...just interested
Well I haven't used oxygen in a bit, but they hadn't added any of the CM specific tweaks and features yet.. mostly stuff like gestures, etc.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
CM patches are used for pretty much everything in Oxygen, so most features are alike. I like both, but prefer bleeding edge so CM nightlies FTW
Sent from a piece of ginger bread... Now with a little cyan tint
I have never used oxygen roms but its my first time to cyanogenmod 7 roms ever and I can say I am more then happy, I am have been using the first build nightly for well over a week now and its been absolutely fine, the only thing that does not work is video recording which but everyone is pre-warned about that until the nexus one files get dropped in.
Just flashed to 24th Feb nightly and still no hiccups, not getting the battery drain issues like people are posting, but there is no noticeable decrease or increase for me compared to the previous O2 branded froyo build.
what about ginger villain?
Haven't used CM7, but if you want a fast and lightweight ROM with excellent battery life (see the battery saving mods) then you cannot go wrong with Oxygen
Moreover,tt looks like now that the nexus one OTA has been extracted we will see a stable version of Oxygen very soon, so the problems with the Camcorder on RC7 (the dev didn't want any hacks in the ROM since he wanted it to be as stable as possible) will be ironed out!
Do both these have Bluetooth gamepad support
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
would love to see some posts with info about what made someone to move from one mod to another
(just a bump)
I loved Oxygen, loved it. Very fast and minimal allowing me to add to it the way I see fit, the way it should be really. Problem was I was one of the few that experienced bootloops constantly. On average once a day. Sometimes it would go into a boot loop at idle, and I wouldn't notice for over an hour, and by the time I got it back on, the screen being on and displaying the boot animation had drained some serious battery.
So I tried Ginger Villian, I had the same issue with bootloops, so I tried redux. I was quite happy with it, except it didn't work as a phone. It dropped calls every few minutes to multiple numbers, and it refused to send or recieve mms (Yes I checked the APNs). That's when I decided to try CM7, and found that it just works for me where the others didn't. Yes it's a little more heavily featured than I would like, yes it can be a bit laggy and slow every now and then, but it's the stability and reliability that keeps me here for the moment.
I wasn't S-Off when running Oxygen though, so I will delete the ext partition on my SD card and reinstall Oxygen with the oxygen hboot to see if maybe it makes a difference. Something must, there's a lot of people out there claiming to have never had a boot loop, though I would miss the T-Mobile theme enginge that CM7 ships with.
Probably more than you wanted to hear, but that's basically what made me jump from Oxygen to CM.
i really love a stable rom. that's why i prefer cyanogen and used cm6 for a long time. but i also want the latest android version. that's why i use oxygen at the moment until cm7 becomes "FINAL".
the most important thing about cm is that they do not modify the rom all the time. they create a rom, they test it as beta/rc (ONLY for bugfixing - no new (maybe buggy) features all the time) and one day you get a final rom which is no longer changed and STABLE.
I used CM6.1 for quite some time, I love AOSP ROMs, Ultralinx persuaded me to try Oxygen RC2 and I changed HBOOT to go with it. I love the minimalist, hack free aspect of the ROM. And because Oxygen 2.0.1 is so stable and lightweight, and that I can't be bothered to change HBOOT again I think I am going to stick with Oxygen until I am due to upgrade phones.
I used Oxygen since I first rooted, it was a froyo rom, but I used it all the way up to the most recent version. Today I tried cyanogenmod, just to see what differences (if any) there were.
So far, I've noticed the for a2sd+ on cm, you need to flash an additional script. But the main benefit of cm is that I can, for the first time since rooting, send mms again. I could receive them on oxygen no problem, but couldn't for the life send them. Definite benefit for me there.

Sorry of topic now but:
What do you mean by flashing a script for the app2sd? I only have a app called S2E, and an ext3 partition. And that app does the job, just by restarting my phone the apps moves to the ext3. But I do realize that my internalmemory goes down when I have a lot of apps. Like now i got 96 mb free. Am I doin it right?
Thanks

If you haven't moved your dalvik cache to SD then your internal memory will decrease. Dalvik takes up so much storage space.
All the effort i see invested in CM9-CM10_AOKP with as mayor problem that all the memory gets consumed so that only few applications can run ????
I ask myself why !!!
Tried out CM9/CM10/OAKP(franklin)) and installed a2sdx and int2ext4+ .... just to be able to get some applications running
Not only is the thing getting horribly slow and very buggy it is in fact completely unusable at this time.
Ex standard applications as Google play are completely failing ....
it is possible to download aps and install them manually but then you can not support it any more.....
These are NOT rom's for daily use. not in a long shot .
its back to good old Piethtz who took pride in finishing stuff untill it was WORKING AND STABLE.
Bugs in AOKP (franklin) just use it it fails and crashes
bugs in CM9 lagging like hell practicably impossible to use the keyboard
and do not tell me not to use a2sd functionality it's simply not worth it for 2 applications/not even for 30 ... then Stock roms are way better.
A long as that memory limitation problem is there android notebooks and phones are dead, not worth investing in not in 2012
If their architecture is such that this is killing the use we should abandon android architecture its mis concieved
this is not the quality of windows
this is not the quality of linux
this is not yet .....
if installing multiple applications use a simple symbolic or direct link is getting in so much trouble the real quality of the whole is not Good
with all respect for the work of ericas and ....
signing off
you should know there isnt an old windows phone or whatever that can run windows 8 via an unofficial way.
ics/jb is not made for our gio's, and so, it wont work as good as you want it to be. if you want that, buy a galaxy s3. they even give you a better screen and processor.
so stfu and live with it or get rich and buy high end smartphones.

Did you try link2sd?
By the way I've just installed this rom, and I think it's the first usable Android 4 for Gio.
Camera and camcorder working finally, everything's running stable and smooth (yet).
The only thing I haven't experienced yet is battery life. If it can take 1.5-2 days with average usage, it will pass my high standards that no other non-stock based rom have passed yet.
Oh, and after installing some basic apps(Skype, Maps, GMail, TC, etc...), I still have 108MB free on internal mem.
So no, it's not a joke, it's the best ROM out currently for Gio (a smooth camcorder like the TW Camera in stock would be good, but this is just a minor negative point if you take the features that ICS gives into consideration).
I say this after trying about 30 different ROM's in the past half year...
I'm sorry to ask you this: did you pay for his work? which makes you right for komplain about it?
installed a2sdx and int2ext4+ .... just to be able to get some applications running
this is your problem
two scripts that do the same thing
chose only one of them (i recomment cronmod int2ext+ if you want that kind of script, i use link2sd and link only the games)
and in developer settings choose force gpu rendering(for better battery aver all) and smartassv2 or interactive
Some bugs
Can someone please post this in the dev thread? I don't have 10 posts yet...
So far I've found these four bugs:
-(MINOR) Ringtones play only once if there's no ANDROID_LOOP=true OGG metatag in the sound file. By the metatag it seems rather a feature than a bug, but in 2.3.x roms it was not needed, and it can really troll new rom users. Please fix if possible, or write instructions (convert file to ogg and set the metatag, that's all but it needed me a lot of googling to find it)
-(MAJOR) Init.d settings (at rom settings) cause heavy load, and settings won't stay (su permission request accepted of course). It can't be enabled at all because of this.
-(MAJOR) Google Talk from gapps-ics-20120429 FC with "Need GTalk_SERVICE permission".
Tried first by just installing talk.apk (extracted from gapps) as system app, then by flashing the whole gapps zip, then with full wipe, rom reflash and flashing gapps immediately after rom flash, but no luck. Tried CWM fix permission too (no effect), but couldn't try rom init.d feature fix permissions due to the previous bug.
-(CRITICAL) If I go outside the signal area of a WIFI AP (without turning off wifi) and there's no other available connection (I don't have mobile net atm), the whole system crashes when an application tries to initiate a connection.
No response to:
-Touch
-Back softkey long set to kill
-Pwr hardkey, home hardkey
Only removing battery helps, however my live wp (phase beam, the one that's integrated in the rom) moves until that.
It happened two times:
-Wifi dropped due to signal loss, unlock phone, push browser icon, browser icon glows, crash
-Wifi dropped due to signal loss, unlock phone, open wifi settings (with wifi powerswitch longpress), select another ap to connect to, start to enter wpa passphrase, crash after typing 4 chars (some process in the background may have tried to initiate a connection meanwhile)
If you can't reproduce tell me and I'll try in USB Debug to get a logcat dump.
I still say this is the best ICS/JB rom out for Gio, but if you can fix these it'll be completely perfect

installing multiple a2ad.. methods one after the other gives similar errors that disappear when not installed. Up to no one published this serious memory handling BUG in the center of ics cm9/scm10/aokp biggest problem area.
problems in the center area need to be solved if people want to believe in any future for the Rom.
why invest time in any os if people are not assured the main problem lack of memory handling poses a risk of complete failure
that is the reason for the"is this a joke?"
the hard work of the developers is NOT assured questioned nor diminished
I refered to linux and windows as basic fundamental robustness as a base.
individual apps anoi one person.failure into the core make everything fail

No tweak. Some apps uninstalled from system (trebuchet, live wp's), and link2sd that's all. With link2sd Google Maps is on SD, maybe it's background service doesn't like it, apart from it there's nothing wrong I could've done.
CPU settings: clocks at stock, governor is SAv2.
About 1 crash / day. Newer crashes seemed unrelated to wifi signal drop.

Also, try out roms see what you like. Others, please don't post suggestions because it may lead to flaming and may cause a serious argument. If you have an opinion about a rom say it but don't say it is the best rom as developers may get offended.

The most beautifully crafted ROM for WFS. You will fall in love with it again. I have tired at least 20 roms. But this one catches my heart.
Well, I have experienced one small bug - data connectivity issue ( when travelling especially data gets disconnected, u will have to toggle data to reconnect). Hope djolivier solves it in next update. ( I guess its a kernel error- not sure)
Works wonderful with WiFi.
Amazing battery life ( Under Wifi, It served me for 12 hours of near continuous Whatsapp usage). But under normal GSM data its only 2.5 hours
And I would recommend any root cache cleaner.
Rest is awesome. If you are patient, then you can try 4.2.2 whenever a stable ones is released by Marvellous team.
Thanks :good: djolivier

Maybe I'm just having bad luck with ROMs. I've tried many as well, but the only one I found myself coming back to was CyanogenMod 7.2 Port purely because it made my phone seem future-proof and made me fall in love with it once again. I did stay with the CyanogenMod 9 port for a while but found an annoying keyboard-sub-key-placement issue which rendered my phone unusable. After that, I did try the Marvellous ROM and had issues.
All to their own, I guess.
For me Miui v4 by Henry is Gold but no multilanguage. The question of the thread is obselete. Everyone has to test out roms

All to their own, I guess.

no doubt 7.2 is the most stable ones out there, but it definitely lacks speed, feel and smoothness of CM10 & + .. :good:

I can't say for sure if this is true, but maybe that's because the CM10 ROM didn't sit long on my device for more than about 20 minutes. I had to remove it because I was getting way too many forced crashes residing around the Trebuchet launcher and even the keyboard. With CM9, I found video game performance to be extremely superior as running games like Canabalt would result in zero lag at all as apposed to my Gingerbread stock HTC Rom. But of course, it had a really irritating keyboard bug so I moved back to CM7. Now, with CM7 out of the box, performance isn't really there. But once I delved into the settings and played with governers and CPU speeds and loading a completely new launcher, I've found CM7 to be faster than CM9.
It just took a bit of tinkering but I get great battery life as well as performance. When I first installed Canabalt on my device, it ran at about the same smoothness as it did on my Stock HTC ROM - it had small graphic delays and lags. Now, it runs just as smooth, if not better, than it does on CM9. So now I have stability and speed on my device and I couldn't be more satisfied.
But I guess people are different. I don't doubt that the ROMs mentioned above are fast. I've probably just been having bad luck.
Greetings, let me briefly explain my ROM related adventures.
I was sick and tired of the stock rom, it was slow and ugly.
I installed a Paranoid Android rom I found but it got stuck in a loop at boot and I was recomended to try another one that wasn't outdated.
I was recomended a PAC rom. It worked just fine, but it consumed a lot of RAM. Never having too much ram to spare the phone was extremely slow when accessing the store and other "heavy" actions.
Recently I installed the bionic cow rom I saw from the samsung galaxy w rom page but it reboots the phone spontaneously, I found in the thread of the rom that it has been discontinued and I should look for another one.
In sum, I need recomendations for a rom that is both light and good looking, any recomendations?
thanks.

Can I trouble you to share links of threads with those ROM's.
I know my share of computers and programming and even a little of Android. I'm a bit "noob" on the topic of Kernels and other boosts alike.
I'm going to try and search for the mentioned threads/roms.
thanks.

KERNEL: honeyx 7up 3.0.x HurtSky' Kernel V4.1
in flashing, follow the installation instructions carefully to avoid bricking ur device. nandroid back-up & pristine! goodluck!
ROM: Honami UI: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2378598
Kernel: Madridii 3.0.x (v3 original with371mb ram): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301504
Really nice ROM, runs sweetly and looks good. With Madridii kernel I am getting up to 2 days out of a charge using Smartassv2 as govenor and SIO as scheduler.
Do a pristine install for trouble free installation and useage.

My usage would probably be best described as light to medium: few phone calls, some sms and mms, ebay, email, weather updates, some web browsing and some tunes (inc stream to DLNA devices), but no gaming at all. I don't use Seeder or Greenify.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Please ignore the mobile network signal bar being too short as it has never worked properly for me since CM9 (randomly stops logging data) - but as you can see the phone wasn't in aeroplane mode as it has signal in the status bar and the wifi has been permanently switched on.

I'm going to try this one.
It's not that I'm "lazy" to look for the links, I did look but I end up getting lost in the ROM descriptions since they get really technicall.
My next question would be "how the heck would I install a Kernel", a bit of Googling revealled a thread about it, I'll post it here in case someone else is reading this and looking for information.

I'll post feedback on the ROM.

Feedback
Hey,
I installed CM9 with the kernel like was suggested here. I decided to post some feedback and news about the rom.
So far it's been neat. I'm getting the performance and battery saving like I did when I had the stock rom, but I have the look and feel of the ICS.
here's a screenshot of the battery saving, it lasted the whole weekend... weekend partly spent discovering the wonder of Pudding Monsters, I've gotten more addicted to that game (in that weekend) more than I'm proud to admit.
In spite of that, the battery last for a good 2 days before crashing. This without any battery saving app or greater care.
(I haven't spent as much time online as I used to, that might've also helped a bit)
There is only one annoyance... two actually:
. (as expected) in the camera, the zoom doesn't work. (I was told cameras don't work that well in custom ROM's, as longs as it takes pictures as is I'm happy enough)
. There doesn't seem to be a usb support. Before, when I plugged the phone to the computer there was a popup allowing me to open some usb mode and allowing file transfer between external and internal sd cards. Now it simply turns on usb debugging.
While this works fine on Windows, the OSX doesn't recognize the device. Thus I cannot plug the android to my mac anymore.
Any ideas for the second part?
PS: Just noticed that my tablet also can't be seen on my mac. This means it's not a ROM problem. After searching the usb options I noticed the Samsung has a "mass storage" option which I think may solve my problems. But the same does not go for my tablet.
My tablet is a Sony S unrooted with stock ROM. It only allows usb connection through MTP or PTP modes, neither works with OSX for some reason.
as far as i tested, you can use liquidsmooth or the newest build pacman for sgw :good:
Hello
I have enjoyed having djolivier's JB ROM in my phone. But it is still so much slower than Stock. I need to be able to dial, text and search straight away. I have a class 10 SD, I'm using Int2Ext+ I don't have a lot of apps, I only partitioned 512MB to try and speed it up.
I upgraded to get the Gmail App with Primary Inbox etc. but Gmail is so slow I hardly use it
Do I need to go back to stock with Link2SD? Or Stock with Int2Ext+? Or is there a ROM out there that is really actually so fast that the app opens when you touch it - not 5 or 25 laggy seconds later?
This may not be the correct place for this - but I don't get straight answers on other sections of the forum.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Chris
Hello. First of all I have to tell you that in my oppinion, the Wildfire S hardware is a bit weak, so you can't avoid the 5 laggy seconds for an app to open... But, I 'll tell you which roms are the fastest for me.
1. Stock. This is what I use. I like its performance, but I dislike it visually. I use a Sense 4 theme and live with it.
2. CM9. I my oppinion the fastest custom rom until now. It lacks one thing: Video recording. Someone could talk about the laggy video playback but Henry_01 modified some lib files in his MIUI port, and video playback is working there. So I replaced the libs in CM9 and it worked too. So If you don't care about video recording you can use this one.
3. JDevs upcoming update seems a lot promising to me, and this is what I'm waiting for to replace stock.
As for the scripts, in terms of speed:
Link2sd > int2ext+ >int2ext
I use stock android 2.3.5 Sense 2.1 with Link2sd.
This is what I think is the best, until now.
edit: I forgot the Cyanogenmod 10.1 by OWL project, it's good and fast too. But in my opinion cm9 is better, in terms of performance.

Thanks so much for your response. One follow up question. You're saying Link2SD is the best for speed? When I installed a JB rom without int2ext there was not enough memory to even start installing apps..... did I do something wrong? I don't want to go back to the days of uninstalling apps so I can update the ones with large memory etc.

You 're right. Link2sd worked succesfully only on GB and ICS for me too. You didn't do anything wrong, so use only int2ext(+) with JB.....

For me this is the best CM9 rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245617&highlight=slimsandwich
As it is, it has 2 bugs: no camera recording and slightly buggy video playback. If you want, I can fix the video playback and provide it to you tomorrow.
Although, I would suggest that you wait for the next big project by the owl team, based on android 4.2.2.
edit: Better use this link to SlimSandwich, as here, in xda it's not the latest version posted: https://teamblueridge.org/projects/files/
Rom > Marvel > Slimsandwich-marvel
Or tell me to give it to you with working libs for video playback.
Thanks for the info. The problem with owls project is that WiFi tethering is and has been broken for a long time and I hardly see them fixing it. I'll try out slimsandwich. I'm mainly looking for a fast, responsive ROM, not many features.
