Hi guys,
Im trying to make my exchange mail work on JB but he only keeps syncing and syncing....I think theres something wrong...he worked nice on ICS
Anyone knows if theres a fix for that?
The only diference that i see between JB Email app and ICS is that JB asks for a port...and ICS version didnt...
Im using ARHD rom...
many thanks guys
I don't have a fix, but exchange works on my phone. My exchange account even requires access to wipe the phone in case of emergency, and I was asked to give it permission running Vicious V5 JB.
I also was able to setup hotmail to sync through exchange.
Exchange works fine on my phone.
My problem is with Microsoft Exchange...dont know why isnt syncing anymore (ICS was okay)
I'm having the same issue, everything works fine on ics. Had been trying to find solutions for a while but nothing works. I'm considering return to ics cos most of my email accounts are different from gmail and they require to relogin to stay active.

Heh, very weird . I found a fix - just make sure the Check Frequency and Days to sync are on automatic AND turn on the automatic sync. Turning on automatic sync for all accounts seems to have done the trick. Hope it helps someone .
Hi guys,
Update: Problem Solved.
I re-started phone, removed all security features and tried to configure again. It worked by configuring automatically and applying all security features.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I have the similar issue.
I used Samsung's OTA update today to upgrade to Jelly Beans and my Exchange went kaput. It's unable to find mail server. I deleted the account and tried to create again, but no luck.
I compared with ICS on my tab and only difference between JB Email app and ICS is that JB asks for a port...and ICS version didnt...
Anyone knows if there's a fix for that?
I am using the OTA updated version without system root.
Many thanks in advance,
hey,
I tried your solution indian_curry but it doesnt work for me. I've deleted and reconfigured the account several times during the last days. Right after configuration everything works fine. All contacts are there. But a couple of minutes or hours later, the contacts are gone. It started a few days ago. But not directly with the JB update... very weired
So are there any other sulutions?
thanks

Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help.
95% of FroYo / HTC Sense ROMs I've tested always initially give me a problem adding an extra GMail account to the handset.
The symptoms are either that Mail refused to auto-sync, or that I can't enable GMail at all (no option on the sync screen).
Sometimes I get round it with a combination of clearing GMail, Contacts & Calendar storage and removing / re-adding the account. I've not come up with a definitive method of doing this though.
I'm currently on a AOSP ROM, looking to go back to a Sense based one. I tried 2 ROMs last night and couldn't get the mail to work so I've NANDROID restored in the hope that I can find a solution before flashing again.
Does anyone have a definitive method of making my phone work with 2 GMail accounts that auto sync?
Cheers,
B
That's because it's a known issue in Gmail appart from the new 2.2.1 version...without updating to that it'll never sync the extra accounts. It's well documented and the new 2.10.405.2 OTA update fixes this.
Cheers Eddy.
Are any ROMs out based on the new OTA update? Or is this update not out yet?
I have managed to get it working every now and again, I'm just never 100% on the steps I took to make it happen!
Update is out now, I'm on it but I don't use more than one Gmail account on my Desire...there are ROMs in the Dev forum that are based on it so assume they have it working so go look there
Would make sense as to why MoDaCo r8 didn't work yesterday. It's based on 2.09.x. Cheers for your help.
It is BUT it's got the option for the new GMail app in the kitchen (I think)...I'll try tonight with another of my GMail account and see what happens
I had a look. R9 has the new GMail. I'm going to grab that tonight.
An update - MoDaCo R9 STILL had the problem. I tried NeoPhyTe's AuraxTSense and happy days - I have Gmail sync again.
Mustard.
I missed Sense a lot when using OpenDesire. It's a real dealbreaker!
Hi
Has anyone else encountered this issue, or know of a solution? I've searched and have found similar problems but nothing exactly like this.
I've just upgraded to Stock gingerbread using the RUU download.
I use Exchange Activesync to sync only my mail from Gmail. However, when set to 'Push' email it will go into a constant loop of syncing.
One thing I noticed, after deleting and re-setting up the account a number of times, is that it works fine until I delete emails. Once I delete, the non-stop syncing begins....
Apologies if this has been asked before-I searched, honest!
Many thanks in advance for any info.
Unbranded DHD on stock Gingerbread, Virgin, UK.
Do you use GMAIL or the htc mail app?
In the htc mail app, it is looping if you set the app to synchronize more than one day (3days beeing the default value)
With 1 day, it is working partially : many sync will end in error, but will succeed later.
definitively, htc isn't able to provide a stable solution for AES...
For my part, I still use the Froyo stock mail app, wich is working very well with hotmail, but unfortunately without html support. (you can easilly install it with the apk)

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this did not work for me.
Yes-I'm using the HTC Mail app.
I deleted the account and set it up again , reduced the syncing to one day as you suggested, but as soon as I delete any emails, it goes back into the continuous syncing loop.
Would I have to be rooted to install the Mail app from Froyo?
Thanks again!
I have same issue. If I setup Gmail as an exchange activesync with m.google.com it continuously syncs and sometimes authentication error, then it works fine again.
With other exchange accounts it is fine.
I prefer the Mail app over Gmail app as I prefer not to have conversation view and it will view.docx word files.

Yes-I prefer the Mail app. Nice clean UI. Always used to work well for me with Froyo. Giving Moxier a trial right now, Seems to work fine but a bit pricey.
Same boat here.
Prefer the HTC mail app but getting sick of the constant syncing.
I'm using a custom Rom, could that be the problem?

No, you can install it on unrooted phones.
BTW you are able to uninstall it like all apps later...
You'll find below the version I'm using.
If anyone has the stock 2.3 mail app, and that it is better, well I wouldn't say no...

I don't think having a custom rom is the culprit as I've got HTC Stock Rom on a debranded but unrooted DHD, and I've got the same issue.
By the way, as I said earlier, I have been trying out Moxier mail and it does not seem to have this syncing problem....BUT-it's a bit expensive and overkill for my needs really.

Big thanks for the APK, Samsenteur!
I have the same problem on a unbranded DHD after the Gingerbread update.
Has anyone sorted out a fix for this?
Does installing the 2.2 mail app solve the problem?

Of course not!
But you'll have another mail app that will work with hotmail push.

After a lot of messing about I firstly discovered that after a short while using Moxier Male, the problem returned. However Touchdown works perfectly. Unfotunately this is a rather pricey cure for the problem. I think the reason Touchdown works for Push mail is something to do with the fact that there is an option in the Touchdown settings, to only delete emails from the phone rather than the server. Having this ticked I have had no problems at all with the constant syncing issue. As for why this should make a difference...I'm afraid someone with more technical knowledge would have to try and answer that!
I'm having the same problem with this. Anybody find a solution? Not keen on the gmail app.
GB has proven to be a flakey update for me. Lots of stuff worse than Froyo (for me).
Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
I have a HTC Desire (not desire HD) and have just changed to a gingerbread rom and now have the constant sync problem with push mail. I did not have this when i was using froyo...
same problem
Same here with DHD on 2.3.3 (stock). No fix yet, I assume...

why install the 2.2 htc mail app then and use it if it doesnt solve the problem (resending the deleted items and push issues) ??
i restored a froyo build of one of the roms i use and mail htc mail was working flawlessly (imap/pop3 and hotmail activesync).
the problem seems to be in gingerbread.
anyway to get over this? ideas ?
thx.
It seems you don't understand me :
-Installing the Android mail stock app doesn't solve the problem in HTC MAIL. (of course)
But it allows you to use a mail app that does work correctly with hotmail AES. (we don't want imap/pop, do we?). I don't have any push issue with Android stock mail. It works perfectly. My only concern is that there's no html rendering.
Touchdown is able to push mail with Hotmail AES and provide html rendering, but the app is expensive, I personnaly find the interface heavy, and it only supports one AES account at the same time (I have 3).
- I had the same exact issues on Froyo. And this is why I was already using the Android stock mail app.
Well I don't know what ROM/s you were using on Froyo that had constant syncing problems with the stock HTC email app. I've never had any problems on Froyo whilst running Leedroid, ARHD or Coredroid.
The only time I have ever encountered or even heard of this problem was on Gingerbread.
I've just gone back to Leedroid 2.2.3 Froyo & this problem doesn't exist on that ROM.
I don't see any benefit to using Gingerbread on the DHD (without Sense 3), it seems like HTC have gone backwards to be fair...
I was using the native htc Froyo ROM.
Sync was looping on first message when using push in Hotmail (no pb with other accounts, and no pb with pop/imap). As I've seen in XDA, I was far from beeing the only one to have this issue... You can find many threads in this forum.
Anyway, I'm quite happy with google stock mail app, so I no more use the htc's one.
Ah that must be why I've never come across it on Froyo, as I use Gmail & not Hotmail.
Do remember hearing of some people having problems with Hotmail on Froyo but never with Gmail. Think the Gmail problems are limited to Gingerbread.
Could someone confirm that Exchange email is working on any of the later builds of CM10?
It was working just fine for me on CM-10-2012-09-08 and after flashing around a bit I can't get working properly. I use Enhanced Email but have tried to set it up with the stock email app as well as some other flavors of exchange apps from the market with no success.
I'm really just wanting someone to confirm that it is working on CM10 > 2012-09-08
currently on CM10-2012-09-11
Edit: Actually I can't say for sure it was working on CM10-2012-09-08, I very well could have been on Frosty or FreeGS3 the last time it worked. Regardless...
me to
I have the same Problem to.
i use cm-10-20121205 and i cant use Exchange email.
the security policies want to ad the deviceadmin, but in the Settings menĂ¼, there is no one so it did not sync with Exchange.
with my Samsung SGS1 with cm 10.0 it work corect.
Wow, good job searching for a related thread! :good:

Just an observation with regards to Exchange support on these releases.
My S3 came with ICS like most others on this site and I had a persistent issue with Exchange telling it it "wasn't connected" as it simultaneously proceeded to get my mail.....
I was PO'd at it, but found a 4.1.1 ROM (BlackJelly), which I flashed and, low and behold, mail worked perfectly! Great I thought!
Yesterday I decided to give CM 10.1 a shot. Wiped the device, installed the ROM and immediately had a very similar issue with Exchange. To confirm that it wasn't just the mail app, I downloaded CM 10.0 stable, flashed it, and mail worked perfectly.
The symptoms of the mail issue are:
1. Deleted messages on the phone do not disappear from the inbox.
2. You may see a "can't connect to server" or something to this effect periodically in the mail client
3. Mail "push" behaviour is irrattic and may not work at all.
Since I'm using Exchange 2003, these observations are exclusive to that platform. I'm not sure whether 2007 is effected by the same problem.
It would appear as though whatever was broken in ICS, then fixed for JB 4.1.x is now broken again in 4.2.1.
Hmmm...not saying this is your problem and I'm running from an Exchange 2007 server, but I had very similar issues on ICS and JB 4.1.1 (could not always connect, flags didn't transfer). After I visited our IT department, they said I was using an old server address that didn't have proper authentication. They put it the new one and it's worked perfectly since.
What alerted me was that it worked perfectly on data, but had issues on WiFi. Any differences on your end? No need to test if you're fine being on BlackJelly; I'm just curious, haha.
Also, CM is AOSP-based, while BlackJelly is TW-based, IIRC. I've read somewhere that Exchange certification/compatibility is expensive and Samsung licenses it for their phones, but on the other hand, AOSP doesn't license Exchange compatibility. That doesn't explain why ICS wouldn't work (presumably you were on stock TW?), though...

Well, I'm the Exchange admin, so I'm pretty sure I'm using the right address
I should probably clarify a little.
It works fine on IOS devices.
It worked fine on the stock ICS ROM that came on my phone and all of the updates until the last one before JB. IE, the last ICS update that Samsung rolled out broke Exchange in the manner depicted.
At this point, I rooted the phone, installed JB and bam, all was working perfectly again. It continued to work fine on every release of BlackJelly. And this is for both WiFi and 3G/4G, behaviour is normal.
Getting an interest in 4.2.1, I grabbed the M release of CM 10.1 and flashed that. Immediately I noticed I was having an Exchange issue that was similar to the one I was having with the last release of ICS pushed from Rogers. Wanting to ensure that it was the ROM, I wiped and flashed CM 10, which worked perfectly fine.
So I wiped the phone and went back to BlackJelly.

Disable HTML email. That is broken for 2003 Exchange.

It appears to work fine in the 4.1.1 releases.........
And that doesn't explain "push" mail not working in ICS or 4.2.1.
I found the info in the Enhanced Email forum.
I posted that all my accounts were fine except for my Live account.
The dev told me to disable HTML. So I did, and suddenly my Live started working properly again. The problem is only in 4.2 ROM's and Exchange 2k3 afaik. I never had the problem on 4.1.1 or 4.1.2.
Push works fine in my Hotmail & Gmail accounts.
And now in my Live also, after disabling HTML emails.

Just so I understand this correctly:
You were having the EXACT same issue as me? Push wasn't working, but fetch was (Exchange 2003 account) and deleted items were not disappearing out of your desktop Inbox when you deleted them from the phone? And disabling HTML mail fixed this?
Wiped and re-installed 4.2.1 again and magically it works properly????? WTH?????
Anyway, looks like problem solved itself......
I don't know what's going on. When I setup the accounts (2), they are synchronized in the first moment but, after that, no more.
This happens just when 3G is in use. In the first moment that I connect the Note to a wi-fi network, the accounts are updated instantly. If I stop/disable Gmail and enable it again, it syncs again, but just once.
I tried everything to solve this, installed a unbranded rom, version 4.1.1 and, now, version 4.1.2, remove the accounts, remove the authorization of access, using PC, and nothing worked.
Any help? My Nexus 10 tablet and my old S II are working without any issue.
Thank you.
I think I solved the problem, creating a nem APN. The default was defined as java.claro.com.br and I created a new one, just claro.com.br.
It's working now.

Similar problem with two accounts two times. The first time happens almost instantly. Synced went ok and after an hour no syncing. I remove the accounts and all were ok for 2-3 days and then again. Remove again and now for 2 weeks its ok. 4.1.1 stock.
