All he have to do is call Samsung and they will replace it you have a year factory warranty as long as theres no physical damage. They send the phone fast. I did it four times already don't waste your time looking for solution just tell them it won't boot just turned off and won't start that's all i said. You don't have to have insurance either.

Really? You've done this four times? I'd be interested in if anyone else has had such luck? Seems like they would try to turn on the device or figure out whats wrong when they get it back. Thats awesome though!

I can vouch for that cause I've had to swap out my 1st. Maybe not due to that particular reason, but still, if it doesn't light up they gets frustrated and swap time.

I used to have an Epic 4G Touch and yesterday accidentally flashed a kernel for it on my S3. I was left with a beautiful pebble blue coffee table piece. I started to freak out because I couldn't power on or anything. Long story short, I purchased my phone less than 14 days ago so I took it back to the store. The technician took a look at it, couldn't power it on and they gave me a replacement phone, no questions asked!!

I promise if you hard bricked hell or even soft bricked you can get it exchanged from Samsung as long as it's been less than a year and no water damage or cracked screen .I really think they don't look into all the rooting stuff they just install new software in the phone and send it right back out to someone else which works for me.
If you go threw your carrier avoid it they ask to much question call Samsung and i sware they will send you a new or refurbished phone but a working one and that's all you can ask for and i didn't pay a dime the box they send you to send your phone is prepaid by them i just put my bricked phone in there then dropped it off to ups. I will say this two times i wasn't at home and ups left the damn phone in the box right on my door step than goodness no one stole it.

Tried unbricking with Heimdall; Now even USB JIG cannot boot phone? What?

Hello! I'm encountering a very serious problem and any help would be extremely appreciated. I had Bonsai4All on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S / Epic from Sprint) for months with no problems, til one day it randomly stopped booting and would just loop the Samsung logo or get stuck at the battery with the circle icon. Using the Clockwork Recovery menu I tried to re-flash the firmware but with the same results.. and now the 3 button download mode feature didn't work.
SO.. I got a USB JIG. That got me into Download Mode. Using Heimdall, I followed this guide (Simple Step By Step for ODIN/HEIMDALL recovery "HOW TO UNBRICK YOUR FASCINATE" ) to reflash my firmware with "CI500_VZW_EB01_FROYO_REL.tar.md5" which I now think may not have been the right file for this phone. After it uploaded all the data and said it was successful, the phone turned off. I expected it to restart, but it didn't. Just a black screen. I had it plugged into my PC via USB still. No LED to indicate it's charging, but that had happened before and it still was. Tried the power button, nothing.. unplugged it, took out the battery, put it back in, tried the JIG. Nothing--- stays at a black screen. Power button and various button combos have yielded nothing.
Does anyone know what the heck happened to my phone, and if there is anything I can do about it? I'm at the end of my rope here. I've heard of JTAG recovery, but I imagine that involves buying new tools, tearing the phone apart, voiding the warranty entirely, doing dangerous precision SMD soldering, and even then it probably isn't going to work..
Is there something else to try or should I just look into selling this to someone who can fix it, or for parts, and get a cheaper phone?
Thanks.
Ok, so you can't hold down 1 and the power button together and get to download mode right?valso, I have heard of the jig but where did you get it?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I was advised to take out the battery for 20min and then try 1+Power, I will do that in 5 minutes. That is a combination I'd not heard yet. I got the JIG from a shop that sells through Amazon.
OK, tried 1+Power.. nothing

Ok, try what you just did: Take out battery for a few minutes. Also, take out SD card. After a few minutes, plug cable that's connected to PC into phone with battery and SD out and try holding 1 and power down together again to get into download mode

Well, possibly the battery somehow died during the process. Also, I believe he was pointing out that if the battery is getting warm then the phone may not be permabricked. Usually you can find a way to rescue it. Its too soon to give up on it

Not to sound negative but I used Odin and flashed the wrong file once and my phone never recovered. I tried everything for countless days and eventually gave up. When i took it to my local sprint repair center they said they couldnt get it to turn on either. It sucks but it might be your best bet. just come up with a good story (of course leaving out that it was rooted) lol

Its trashed if you used the wrong file, because the pit that is auto detected in the Facsinate file will destroy info needed and it can't be recovered (the info) anyway that I know of.

If you do get it into download mode, I would try hooking into a computer with the battery out, then hold the 1 key on the keyboard then add pressing the power button together. You will want to grab the files from this thread and add the pit file and check repartition. Uncheck F.reset if in Odin. But Heimdall is better.

Another thing i heard about was some reset button below the camera.. haha never tried it though.. and heres a random article i found.. hope it helps
If you flashed an epic with fascinate firmware you're pretty well hard bricked. The dude from mobile tech videos can jtag it.
http://www.mobiletechvideos.com/blog/tag/jtag/
He recovered my captivate when I got drunk and flashed the wrong bootloader. Or if you're just going to move on to a new phone, I'll give you $25 and bag of cheese for the bricked epic. If I get a bricked epic, I'm going to rip the cpu off and trace the pins so we can get the unbrickable mod working for us too.
Id buy it. What accesories do you have and how much would you want shipped? I'm thinking 50 bucks.

I followed this thread and thought posts explained why it is NOT insurance fraud. And if that person wanted to pay the $100 to put in a claim that is what the insurance is for. Is it any different than the genius that uses their phone as a hammer or the angry girlfriend that throws her phone? Fraud would be if you said you lost your phone just to have 2 phones. I would like a better explanation please.

[Q] HELP! Bricked!

I just bricked my rooted T989. Nothing happens when I hit power (no display) and my PC does not show the drives when I connect via USB. I have tried vol buttons + power (with battery and [no battery + cable]). Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should try next? Is TMO likely to replace/repair my phone even though it had been rooted?
Have you tried getting into download mode? And what caused the brick?

This is really embarassing but I somehow stumbled up WickedRom, which is for the I9100, somehow thought it was for T989, and tried to flash it. Obviously a major league screw up. I have requested a replacement from TMO. I just hope they don't hit me with a major financial penalty if Samsung notices that it has been rooted (it was rooted when I tried flashing WickedRom).

Same thing happened here... I was odining back to stock and the power in my office at work went out... total fail. All Black, no power button, battery pull or Jig will make the phone do anything... anyone find a work around for this... hey i know im new here but i got the answer... u need 2 odin back 2 stock 4 download mode pull battery plug usb into computer then 2 phone hold vol up and trackpad then insert battery and u will be in download mode also if using CWM dont fix permissions and also dont forget 2 place unzipped recovery file in /system/bin folder and overwrite it over existing file also make sure that cache, data, sdcard ,and system are all unmounted in mounts option of recovery took me 3 days of flashin back 2 stock with odin and soft bricking my phone 2 figure this out hope it helps

[Q] Download Mode Not Working After KP8 Install

I was trying to go back to 2.3.x using ODIN after I installed the KP8 (update for a "leaked" ics) on my phone. Now my computer won't read the phone on download mode. Anyone have a fix for this?
Or do you know if that USB JIG will fix it?

Yea..... GSM + CDMA = your screwed
There is no leak for ICS for our phones yet.
So you flashed the GSM version.
2 options:
Sprint insurance
or
buy a new phone
No one has been successful at jtag, I wouldn't even waste my time.

Look up JTAG on Google. I believe they charge $50 for unbricking service. You'll be out of a phone for awhile, but it's not like the phone is going to do you any good in its current state anyways.

I can vouch that nothing will work. I had someone send me theirs to try and,I installed drivers through Kies, got drivers from XDA, tried a USB jig, hard reset, my SD card with Mobile Odin on it, etc, etc, etc. If when you hold volume up and power and you have the green Android guy holding a box and your phone says I9100, its jtag or nothing. I spent a week (about an hour a day) trying everything. If your phone powers on but you can't connect to wifi or SD card isn't recognized and no network is found, don't even waste your time. I tried because I hoped I could pull it off with the help of some of the great minds from around here but it just wouldn't be recognized by Odin....and it does beep when I plug it into my laptop....so close yet so far

Reboot into recovery mode and wipe cache, dalvik cache and do a factory reset in recovery.
Do NOT wipe/format system.
Then reboot the phone and it should work fine.
help
okay i have the same exact problem. i tried to flash darkyrom iii from androidgeeks.com or something like that, and, i also didn't see that it was for the i9300 only and it went through the little setup process from within cwm (like its own little installer) all steps went fine and everything. asked if i wanted to reboot, i touched "no" then the installer closed and brought me back to cwm and cwm decided to just reboot my phone on its own anways. now im waiting for it to boot, nothing. research, take the battery out along with the sim and sd for about 45 minutes. nothing. i plug it into the computer and nothing happens. i take out the battery and plug it into the computer, again to no prevail. so with the battery out and the phone plugged into the computer, i hold power, home and volume down and a red led comes on the phone and the computer makes the "attatched device" sound. but isnt recognized by kies or odin. will a jig help me out at all?
*edit* i got the rom from here; android.gs/update-galaxy-s3-darkyrom-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean/

You are about about the 50th person in the past couple months who done the same thing, flashing a 9300 rom.
The only way to get the phone back into proper working condition is to send it off to be Jtag'ed.
There are some very good deals on Jtag if you go to eBay and search for "JTAG Galaxy S3".
Good Luck!
thank you

Nope, I never had a need to. But I have read here in XDA that people do get excellent service at a good price at eBay.

Hold volume down and power and home
Does it do anything? If so, get Odin and flash a stock tar for jellybean.

This ^
Also, if you did it through the app, I've heard a lot of reports lately of people bootlooping after updating their recovery.
So if you can get it recognized in ODIN, flash a recovery through that and then see if you can get into it
I think i did the same. i was installing liquidsmooth for the S3 and went to reboot it and bam! bricked. i realized i did not do a wipe i just did an install on top of the rom. I have since then tried all button combos but no luck. I have installed odin and seems like when i plug in the phone to the computer and hold VOL UP+home+power my PC recognizes it but i dont think odin does. So I plan on going and buying one off craigslist and activating it in the morning if i cant do anything by then.

Then it sounds to me like you have yourself a fancy paperweight. Where did you find the ROM you were flashing when it occurred?

They fix a hard brick

FYI if you had a hard brick call Samsung and tell them it just stopped working and they will send you a box pre paid to send your phone in and a refurbished phone for your replacement. I end up getting a new phone as a replacement as I bricked mine a few weeks after the phone can out. I did this three times and the last time got a refurbished one. You don't pay nothing and the phone come in about a week the only thing that stuck is you have to setup your phone all over again. There really nice on the phone and didn't ask me about flashing or rooting my phone they just tried to have me trouble shoot the phone which I couldn't. Oh one thing our phone I's covered for one year manufacture warranty that has nothing to do with the carrier.

Shouldn't be doing this when you hard brick your phone, that's for actual phone defects and your dumb mistake doesn't fall into that category... :banghead:

This is called fraud. It's not a manufacturer defect that you screwed up. It's a you defect  people like you are the reason prices keep going up instead of going down.

Please do not encourage other members to commit fraud.

Whether or not they do replace it is irrelevant. When you decided to root your phone, you voided any and all claims on your warranty (which covers manufacturers defects only). If all of the people who hard-brick their phones claim it on the sprint warranty, you'll see a drastic increase in one (or all) of the following:
Phone Costs
Plan pricing
TEP Costs
"Premium Data" charges
By "claiming ignorance," you are willfully misrepresenting your situation to Sprint, with the intent to deceive Sprint so that they may pay for your mistake. This, by definition, is fraud. Now, you probably won't be sitting in front of a Grand Jury because of one (or three) replaced phones, but it honestly speaks volumes to your moral character if you see no problem with this.
What you're doing is passing the buck on your mistake off to Sprint. Sprint, in turn, will pass that cost onto us. Please don't recommend this course of action again.
