With my Nexus one if I was in car mode, and I hit the home button, I would come back to the car mode home. Now I get sent to my home screen. Can I fix this somehow? I have tasker and car dashboard. I'm running Jelly Bean but the issue still happened on ICS. It's annoying if I'm in car mode and I tap my shortcut for poweramp then hit home and it goes to my regular home screen!

I'd just install the Nexus S car mode - works fine for me in ICS and I've never had the issue you describe (hitting home goes to "car home")
I cannot understand this oversight on Google's part...
Does anyone have any idea how to disable speaker phone in Car Mode?
I am often dialed in to meetings in which I'm optional, and therefore in "stalker mode" just listening to the conversation. I would LOVE to have that play over my speakers rather than the ****ing worthless speaker on this phone...

I have an in dash DVD player with A/V input, and I love hooking up my TP2 so I can watch Sports Center on my way to work. My only problem is that the screen has to stay on in order for the video to be output. The sound still works when I hit the power button, but not the video. When the screen is on there is a high pitched buzz that is really annoying. It goes away immediately when I turn the screen off.
Is there any reg edit that will allow the screen to be off and still output the full A/V?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't know if there's a way to do that, but have you tried just going into the settings and shutting off the backlight, and seeing if that kills the noise?
I turned the backlight all the way down and that didn't do the trick...
There has to be something in the registry, otherwise why would the audio work with the screen off but not the video!
Help! I just took a job with an hour and a half commute and I need this function w/o getting a headache from the buzz!
is the buzz coming through the car speakers? if so, its probably a grounding issue. Does the buzz happen when the phone is running on batteries? Or only when its running on AC power from the car? If its coming from the phone speaker, I have no idea.

The buzz is heard through the car speakers. I thought it was poor shielding at first, but when I hit the power button on top to turn the screen off, the buzz goes away and the music sounds great! The buzz does get infinitely worse when I plug in the AC into the side adapter in my A/V cable. I was using the multiplug with the blue wire cut, so I decided to order an actual OEM cable to see if that fixed the problem, but no go there. The buzz also gains/decreases intensity based on what's on the phone screen itself. I.E. when on the Today screen the buzz is softer than when it's in Kinoma Play or Slingbox.
I really just want a solution where the video can be output along with the audio when the screen is off...has to be software related I would imagine!
I have a SG2 and the official samsung galaxy s2 vehicle dock. I am wondering if there is a way to make the home button go to a program like Car Home Ultra.
When I plug the phone into the car dock, it asks me if I want Voice Control or Car Home Ultra. I haven't yet made either of them default so I choose Car Home Ultra and it works. Until I accidentally bump the home button and I go to my launcherPro home screen.
Isn't there some way to change the behavior of the home button when in the car dock?
I use my head unit in my car to stream music from my phone to the car and have been loving it. I have been using it since I had my OG droid and never had any issues. The only thing that i have noticed since getting my galaxy nexus in december is that it seems as if ICS changed the way the pause/play function works with bluetooth audio.
My Pause/play button on my head unit doubles as the head unit's menu button and in the past it was no big deal. The only thing is, I have read that people hold down their pause play button to get music to pause with ICS, but when I hold that button down, it goes to my head unit's menu.
I can play music fine, as I just tap the button and it works, but I cannot pause it. I have tried 6 different music apps and have had no success with pausing music via my head unit.
Has anyone else had this issue or found a way to change the way the bluetooth button actions work? Like is there a way to change the reaction time so I can just tap the button to pause it?
Anyone bump
Hi everyone,
I have an official htc car dock for my htc one x. The problem I'm having is that, when I insert or remove the phone from the dock, the phone will play the ringtone for a few seconds and also turn the screen on. This isn't a huge problem but it can be annoying having to turn the screen off ever time I use the dock. As I drive in my job, I have to insert/remove the phone around 10 times a day, so this little issue is getting annoying.
My question: is there a way to stop my phone both playing the ringtone and turning the screen on every time I use the dock?
I've hunted through the settings but there isn't a setting to stop this from happening.
I've rooted my one x and uninstalled bloatware, but other than that its stock o2 - uk. Software version 2.17.206.2
ok... so what happens if you manually launch the car app? Does it make this noise on car app launch or bt connect? Try triggering all automatic docking functions manually and find the culprit.
I get a beep on bt connect. Maybe that alert noise has been reconfigured in your sound profile somewhere?
I find mine's better behaved using automateit to kick off bt, dock app, volume settings and what have on dock state triggers. This way I have better control and with delays I can remove the phone from the dock without bt disconnecting for a bit. Obviously you need to configure unlock triggers too.
Worst case with automateit would be to temporarily turn down volume on docking maybe.
This has got to be fixable!
I created a NFC tag/Tasker combo to activate Car Home Ultra when I get in my car. In Car Home Ultra, I checked the "Start/Stop Car Mode" option so that hitting the home button will take me back to Car Home Ultra instead of the regular Android home screen.
However, I can't exit out of Car Mode. I have a steering wheel icon notification in the notification bar that says "Touch to exit car mode," but tapping it has no effect. The only way to stop the phone from taking me to Car Home Ultra on home button press is to reboot the phone. I can disable the setting in Car Home Ultra to start up Car Mode, but it defeats the whole purpose of simulating a car dock.
Note: Car Mode and Driving Mode are NOT the same thing. Car Mode is a Google implementation, I believe, whereas Driving Mode is a Samsung implementation (as far as I can tell). Driving Mode only reads incoming calls and texts out loud, while Car Mode simulates having a physical car dock.
