[ROM] [2012/07/18] AOKP Milestone 6 [unofficial] - HTC One X

Hi!
I wanted a 'stock' AOKP Build and couldn't find so I tried and built one...
Thanks to LorDClockaN (IceColdAOKP) for the device specific files and the vendor setup for AOKP.
So you get a pure AOKP synced with the latest AOKP changes with device specific fixes for the One X.
Changelog
same as AOKP - plus:
- Fixed Black-Screen on rotation
- Fixed button timeout (fix by tbalden)
2012/07/18
- Fixed some issues with Camera/Videorecording
I want to keep the main packages the same as in AOKP and just integrate device specific fixes - so no added features
Installation
Flash ROM
Flash GApps
Reboot into fastboot
Flash boot.img via fastboot (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
Reboot
Bonus: No wipe required when you are currently on IceColdAOKP ;-)
Downloads
Download (in sync with AOKP Milestone 6)
GApps can be found here
Sources and Changes/Commits can be found here
I recommend flashing the GPS tweak from here

thanks for your hard work.
it would be better to work with LorDClockaN ?

Tutorial.

But icedcold is pure aokp? What makes this different?

IceCold has some features added that are not (or at least not now) in AOKP - like profiles for example...

Ok. But the issues list is exactly the same?

Should be mostly the Same, yes...

Which device and vendor trees is this built off?
EDIT: Nevermind, realised you've stated it in the OP.

Not being funny here and apologies if you think i am having a dig but you need to write abit more info on what you are sharing here...first you can give us even a tiny changelog please and if so as well few screenshots....
cause you are sharing something in the development section so as far as i know you can be sharing anything...so it is for the benefit of us the users who want to download this and also for the safety of your back so at least you showed the user what they are actually flashing on there phones...
and welcome it is always nice to have more roms but if you can add the above to the OP you will be good to go and hoping for more AOKP magic

Hey there!
Updated the Post and added more info. Are screenshots madatory? The ROM looks exactly like any other AOKP 0_o If I have to I will add some...

Not discouraging development but man, I really really wish people would work together and come up with - in the very least - an "official" AOSP/AOKP XDA ROM. Not CM9, not Trip's (no offense Trip) not any other variant.
Just get together and work on fixes together. These AOKP ROMs all over the place are confusing a lot of people.

As there are lot of AOKP roms so are Sense ROMs like ARHD, Viper etc. Why dont you ask them to work together also instead of just singling out AOKP?
No offense just suggesting.

He did, he said AOKP/AOSP, CM9 is covered under AOSP, and AOKP is just a derivative of CM9 anyway, building AOKP isn't any different than CM9 as the device specific stuff is the same.
The (seemingly) most efficient solution would be for everyone wishing to develop for an AOSP-based ROM to join tbalden and mdeejay in their TeamNDVRu organisation on GitHub.

That wouldn't work, since they are in a way competing and all have different stuff, some are stock, but fast, some are based on leaked bases, some are totally customizable (LeeDrOiD and ViperX) etc., but CM9 is... well, CM9, so it actually makes *sense* (pun intended xP) to work on one rom

Apples and Oranges.
Sense ROMs are based off HTC's official release. There is no such official release from Google for the HTC One X unfortunately. So until that happens, I just wish everyone could band together and release a pure AOSP ROM and THEN have developers apply their tweaks to their hearts' content, kanging the hell out of the AOSP build until they're blue in the face.
So far, these AOKP releases are like a virus. They all attach to one device tree, bugs and all, and virtually release the same (seemingly) ROM. When someone squashes a bug, they all copy it. It's just redundant work that could be channeled towards finishing one master build rather than having multiple ones floating around.
To give some food for thought, this is like having the CyanogenMod developers working individually to release their own version of CM9 or CM10.
Apologies for derailing this thread.

It's so smooth!
This seems like a project heavily based off the work of the CM7 team and other kernel devs, only without the inherent benefits of CyanogenMod and the work the experienced developers have put into it. Exactly what is the benefit of this project?
Am I right in thinking you could take any nexus s rom and just slap this or bilboas kernel on it?

Some people consider cm to be bloated as it comes with excessive features not required by some users.
Bloat == less responsive. So w/e there's cm builds, u'll see aosp builds.
Why ? One simple reason, u get stock and nothing but stock.

To be honest I don't think there is any measurable difference in performance between CM and AOSP on a device like the Galaxy S...IMO the features outweigh any preconceived ideas about slower performance that aren't really based reality. But if it's all about the clean AOSP "feeling" then go right ahead.

Yup i completely agree, especially on these high end devices.
This idea of having aosp clean builds originated however from previous generation devices such as g1,magic...etc where aosp builds seemed to be preferred by a lot.

My brother uses a G1 and on their it's clear that in order for Froyo or Gingerbread to be usable it needs to be as light as possible. But this primarily pertains to memory usage...CM6/7 is pretty smooth, just apps don't stay open.
On Galaxy S I don't really think pure AOSP has any tangible benefits over CM7 which is quite obviously based on AOSP. For instance, MIUI, while it should feel more "bloated," feels 100% the same performance wise as CM7 which is great (they share kernel etc. so that makes sense)
Hey Guys,
I installed this on my cappy cause I wanted less bloat. Change the lib files for auto-rotation and flashed bilboas kernel. Working fine. Issue is this dosen't have root. How would I go about doing that? I tried super one click, but it freezes the app. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you done any reading? This project is entirely dependent on the work that codeworkx and the CM7 team has been doing. This project won't "overtake it"; I doubt this dev (no offense to OP) has anywhere near the experience or technical ability to troubleshoot problems with AOSP on Galaxy S like codeworkx, dumdidum, et all have been doing for months.
Battery drain on CM7 (and other ROMs that utilize its work like MIUI) is worse than Samsung based ROMs, sure. But it's not "crazy" at all and for my usage patterns isn't even a problem...I charge every night anyway. To me it's either one full day, or two full days, not in between. I've never had a ROM last me through two full days, therefore, I need to charge every night and it doesn't matter if I have 20% or 40% left.

[wip][rom][aosp] ns2

Change of plans, hopefully with the help of anyone who is willing I'd like to compile an aosp build for the Sprint GS2 from source instead of trying to hack a port together, as suggested in this thread and other places, it just feels like it will be a lot more of a fruitful experience for all involved and have a better end result.
(a big thank you to everyone who so far have been super encouraging and friendly with noob questions, it's much appreciated!, I hope that if you wanted to help with the port you'll help with this build as well!)
This is a WIP. Starting out with Samsung's open source platform and kernel instructions on how to build from aosp and I'll take it from there.
I've setup some repos to get this all started in one place:
Samsung SPH-D710 platform source - https://github.com/thefredelement/sph-d710_platform_source
Samsung SPH-D710 kernel source - https://github.com/thefredelement/sph-d710_kernel_source
Team Hacksburg kernel source - https://github.com/thefredelement/android_kernel_samsung_c1spr
Stock kernel initramfs (thanks buddy323!) - https://github.com/thefredelement/stock-initramfs-eg30-epic-4g-touch
https://github.com/thefredelement/Samsung-Galaxy-S2-Sprint-Epic-4G-Touch-AOSP-Build - will be where the build will live after I push over Samsung's platform make and upload it!
--- old stuff that will make your head spin ---
If anyone wants to continue working on this, feel free.
This is my attempt to get get a pure aosp build of android 2.3.5 for the Sprint Galaxy S2. I've never done anything like this before and it's mostly hacked together pieces of two different ROMs. I guess you can call this a "learning" experience.
THIS ROM JUST BOOTS AND NOTHING ELSE REALLY WORKS, THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND I POSTED IT HERE TO SEE IF ANYONE CAN HELP, THIS IS NOT A DAILY DRIVER, NOT EVEN CLOSE.
THIS HAS ONLY BEEN RUN ON MY PHONE, EVERYTHING IS FINE ON MY PHONE AND I CAN RESTORE A NANDROID BACK TO STOCK AND EVERYTHING STILL WORKS FINE BUT I MAKE NO GUARANTEES FOR YOUR PHONE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING I WOULD STOP READING NOW
This rom is based on AdamG's devnull-test aosp rom for the Euro Galaxy S2. (post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183063)
Credit must be given to AdamG for his rom in the first place, bubby323 for his help on IRC and kpkimmel at ACS for the Gerbal V1 beta ROM (post: http://www.forums.acsyndicate.net/showthread.php/2734-ROM-Gerbal-v1-beta-ROM) which I used for guidance for the build.prop and updater script.
I am not trying to steal anyone's work or take credit for anything, I really just want a pure AOSP rom for the Sprint GS2 and would love anyone's help as far as guidance, code, a guide I haven't found, anything would be great, thanks.
Known bugs:
- No radios
- No Wifi
- When wifi is on (or trying to turn on) the screen turns on/off as if a process is restarting
- Orientation sensor is out of whack (disable auto rotate so it doesn't drive you crazy)
- Home button & search button do not work
- Something FCs real fast on first boot but android setup starts
- Distortion on the touch screen occasionally
Known positives:
- No real FCs
- I added the Nexus S boot animation
- Calculator, gallery, etc. all work fine
What I've done so far:
Based on buddy323's advice in IRC, I've brought over vendor, firmware, wifi, vold, egl and hw from the Gerbal v1 rom to the devnull rom.
I used the wipe partition section of the Gerbal update script and then the symlinks/permissions from the devnull script (I removed the kernel installation as this rom doesn't come with a kernel). My approach has been to go through as much as I can on devnull and change out anything that's platform specific to the sph-d710.
I'm sure there's a bunch of noob happening in this rom and I'd appreciate it if you can call me out on it and tell me where to look to make it right.
Installation:
Install via clockworkmod, this will wipe /system /data so I'd erase your user data before flashing.
I've been booting this with the stock kernel.
Link: you don't want this...
Reserved for changelog, when hopefully it gets that far
Awesome to see a project like this, good luck in the port!

You are under no obligation to install anything posted on XDA. If it doesn't work, report. If you don't like it, don't use it. Help, don't hinder. If you have nothing to contribute, then sit down, shut up and wait for someone to do it and allow you to participate. It's that simple folks.
Now keep this on topic or infractions and/or mandatory vacations will be handed out.
I would highly recommend you get to grips with the aosp source and learn to build them for the device instead of cobbling a mix of aosp and stock Samsung roms together. You will also need an aosp compatible kernel and stock kernel is not. There is a list of patches to the aosp kernel in the SGS2 section and on team hacksung's github. Good luck.

[ROM][JB] Team EOS 3 *JELLYBEAN* Nightlies - Maguro

Team EOSJB 4.1.1 MaguroNIGHTLIES
Continuing on from the success of the EOS ICS roms, we present to you EOS3, based on JELLYBEAN!
It is the goal of Team EOS to develop and maintain the highest performing and most stable AOSP based rom for an array of platforms. For the latest news on Team EOS releases make sure you follow @teameos on twitter and on IRC on Freenode in #teameos.
--
NOTE: Team EOS, it’s members, friends, dogs, cats, and associates are in no way responsible for any loss of data or device functionality. Use this at your own risk!
--
A quick note on Nightlies: NIGHTLIES ARE DEVELOPMENT BUILDS. They are automatically generated every now and then, and represent the compilation of the latest commits to the code repository. While every effort is made ensure that the commits that are accepted are stable and do not have a negative impact to the overall performance and function of the builds it is not possible to test every aspect of a commits impact to the overall repo prior to it’s inclusion in a given build. As a result it is entirely possible that instabilities may be introduced as a result of a given days commits. That is the nature of the nightly system, and the risk that is taken using the latest code changes to the project.
EOS is an AOSP based rom. It is developed and maintained by Team EOS and is the culmination of our own in house development efforts.
Team EOS Nightly builds: http://goo-inside.me/devs/teameos/roms/eos3/nightlies/maguro/
G-Apps Package
Because this is an AOSP based rom Google Apps are not included in the base rom. To install Google Apps please flash the following package after installing the base rom:
Temporary Gapps package gapps

Features:
Because these are nightly builds the included features are constantly evolving, we do not provide a change log manually. Instead please see the changes on jenkins for your build.
For the most up to date and comprehensive listing of the changes included in this rom please visit http://review.teameos.org
Kernel:
Kernel Note: This rom is currently using the stock kernel, so you can find the sources from aosp.

Installation Notes:
These builds are designed to be installed from your favorite recovery.

use "notification toggle" from play market. it is a good substitute.
my only show-stopper would be a full sized navbar. customization or fix high on 36dip or 32dip would be nice!

All sense roms with the newest ICS have functionality mic but not for CM higher than 7.0.3 stable or 7.1 RC1 version. Sorry for my english but I beg for help any.
it's totally weird because I use GRJ22 and there everything is working I mean the microphone too.

That's odd, I'm sure I've used the microphone with my G2 before, and I've never used anything aside from CM9, 10, and Sense 4. I'll look into it, but in the meantime have you tried flashing a sense ROM then a CM ROM, because this is supposed to fix lights and vibration or something so maybe it's the same with the mic.
In the meantime have you noticed any improvements over the Andromadus CM10.1 due to the toolchain and kernel? I known the differences are limited at the moment, so if there are any features you can't live without then I can always have a shot at implementing it.

yeah i trying flash the CM after Sense. No luck mate!
I used not to long this rom because mainly functionality is not working on every CM rom above 7.1 RC1. I think it is maybe wrong drivers leaning on that phone DZ series.
I even pushed the sound file from official rom there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620708 but I got sometimes temporarily hang when I calling or I answering the call. This bug is appear on this time on every CM7.and ICS sense. So I use GRJ22 or Sense 2.3.3 If someone port the sounds libs from official I think I will get the mic. And that bug of calling can fix next time in the future if supposed to be
Thanks a lot!
Curious as to how this differs from NeverGone/RUs 10.1 ROM as they are both CM and Andromadus based? As NeverGone/RU changed his OP after switching the thread to 10.2/11, there's no means to compare the two.
Also, seeing as how you (OP) appear to have used NeverGone/RUs 10.1 ROM, I'm assuming you feel that this ROM is faster and/or more stable?
Edit: Also, would you mind posting an MD5/SHA just to be safe?

I admit it's very similar to NeverGone\RU's ROM at the moment; most changes are in the kernel. I have added some system features though, if you see my GitHub: I've moved the clear all recents button to the bottom left, and thanks to @randomblame you can now choose the position of the statusbar clock. Also I've compiled the whole thing with a custom toolchain. More features are to come, don't worry I'll keep it fairly close to the original Andromadus source though, but there might be quite a few visual changes and options. If there's any feature you absolutely must have, just PM me.
Here's an MD5 sum of the latest (20140309) ROM

I've uploaded my own gapps package (see under "instructions" in the OP) but otherwise use the apps from goo.im.
TO EVERYONE: ROM is updated, now there's a statusbar clock option, and there's a slim gapps package if you fancy that. Downloads in usual place under "Instructions".
Is the Maps app works without bugs on this Stable Rom?

If it works on the Andromadus CM10.1 ROM then it works on this. If it doesn't, then it doesn't on this either, but I would've thought it should, provided you install the correct GApps.

I guess my main concern is whether it is more stable, and faster than NeverGOne/RU's ROM; while added features are always nice, I've always been fine with the base CM as it's light weight compared to stock Android.

Well with the custom tool chain and all the kernel improvements I expect it should be as fast if not faster, and there are no features which could actually decrease performance at the moment.
Hi all
First, thank you verry much for this stable and good rom!
But one quetion, where is the option to allow debuging and researching thrugh UBS?
Cant find it....
And finnaly, i can stop the right off the apps, but i cant tell which right exactly?
Thank you for any answer in advaced !
Greetings ivi

I flashed this yesterday to try it out and ran into an issue that I'm assuming to be SU related.
During setup, after downloading all my apps, I went to copy my notification ringtone over to the system partition with SUFBS and, despite the app having root access, and despite the system partition being mounted R/W, the file wouldn't copy over. The app appeared to copy the file over but, after the transfer, the file wasn't shown.
Assuming there might be a rights issue, I cleared all root privileges from SU and went to update SU with ChainsDDs app, and it repeatedly failed to update SU despite having root access.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it sorted ... I didn't know that ChainsDDs superuser wasn't being maintained anymore and didn't work on 4.2.2.

Go into Settings > About Phone > tap Build number until it says you're a developer, then go back and go into developer options, it's all there.
Also sorry but can you rephrase your second question, I don't quite understand?
Very nice, I'm definitely gonna try this one out soon. :good: Could you please provide checksums (MD5 and/or SHA1) for the download?

The md5 for the most recent build (cm-10.1-20140309-UNOFFICIAL-vision.zip) is 06b536fbc6079d3971af342491c4d7d6.
Because I want your guys input, would anybody be interested in an option to change the status bar clock color? I have a build with it partially working right now: it is possible to change the colour, but you have to change the position of the clock and back again in order for the effect to actually occur, which is very annoying. However I'll only bother fixing this if you're actually interested in it. Otherwise there's no point, as my non existent java knowledge makes it very hard.
Are there any other features you want in the meantime? I might be able to implement active display if back porting the 4.3 notification api isn't too hard.
Adding wallpapers
After digging around XDA and Google, I can't seem to find my answer.
I'm wanting to add a wallpaper to this ROM (it's an old stock wallpaper that I like that get's cropped oddly when selecting it from the Gallery) but I can't seem to figure out where the CM Wallpapers are stored.

AOSP ROM?

What would it take to see a base AOSP ROM put together for the LG G4? I know there's some folks working hard at bringing CM to the G4, but what about an AOSP unmodified ROM with drivers, of course? I've always wondered if that is a better option than say a ROM like CM which has loads of known bugs and issues.
Maybe an AOSP super-stock setup which we could modify after via Xposed / Mods to add in what we want would be a better option?

After we finish the device tree and everything is working, it can be then used to build whatever Rom you desire
You rock, thank you for the quick response! I'm not even sure what kind of rom I desire. I just know it would be neat to go full on basic AOSP and add from there without some of the clutter and bugs introduced with CM's stuff, although CM has always been an enjoyable experience. Whoot for guys like you!
I know this is old thread... but what source tree are we talking about here? Obviously not AOSP itself, i think... right?
CM source?
Maybe i'm missing something about branches of AOSP... and other trees..
many thanks

They talked about device tree here. An example for a pure AOSP one for the device LG H815 is here:
https://github.com/cile381/android_device_h815
See this for an explanation :
http://wp.me/p6ZeCY-3p
AOSP source contains the sources to build a ROM which are the same for all devices and a device tree is a device specific description on how to build or as the above link states:
“A device tree is a tree data structure with nodes that describe the physical devices in a system”
.
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Labs
Thank you, steadfasterX.
That provides some clarity, although I think there is still a bit missing for me--
Ugh, i can't post links because of spam rules.. :-/ makes describing things harder.
How did you find the github cile381/android_device_h815 as being the AOSP tree for that phone? My understanding was that the AOSP main repo is here:
android.googlesource.com
And so related to my question previously.. i guess i'm confused specifically who the 'we' is that mythos234 references, and where that source would be located...
many thanks!
