hello everyone !!!
i am new here but have always been a huge admirer of XDA and their awesome work !! which is why i thought it would be best to state my problem here !!
I have a captivate glide on at&t bought online .i knw there are numerous post about unlocking etc but i have some different kind of problem..
the thing is that i am having a problem during sim unlocking my phone(i knw it seems like many other posts on this forum but please read). i am 100% sure i have rooted my device thanks to XDA . i mistakenly lost my efs folder imp files (.nv_core.bak, .nv_core.bak.md5, .nv_data.bak, .nv_data.bak.md5 nv_data.bin nv_data.bin.md5 only) while unlocking my device..
Athough i had a back up bt it resulted in only the backup of nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 somehow...as a result my phone got a generic imei but when i restore these two nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 files from my backup my phone restores its imei but now when i use samsung galaxy s unlock tool or any other sim unlock method (some methods dont work on my phone) it unlocks my network lock bt results in generic imei again .so i am not able to use my service provider sim !!
After this when i again restore my backup files(nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5) the imei is restored also the network lock !! after that if i again try to use sim unlock methods working on my phone it again gives me generic imei forcing me to restore my 2 backup files(nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5). i am having a problem with this and dont have any solution except asking the experts of XDA !!
So my eventual question is
1. how to fix this loop with my service provider sim working ( which requires original imei)
Thanks !!
Buy an unlock code..
Above method always gives you generic imei, which our indian networks are not accepting..

Wondering if you guys know of any good deal on an unlock code for my t-mobile galaxy s3 ...
I called customer service... they didn't give it to me ... The weird thing about the call was that the IEMI number that was on the back was different than the one that was obtained through *#06# !!! is that normal ?
Thanks >
If your on contract t mobile should have gave you an unlock code. I think your allowed to get one every six months from them. Maybe you just had a bad Rep call again and tell them you are soon traveling to Europe and need your phone unlocked

Hmm - cellunlocker charges $15! How did you manage to get the code for $4? Did you use a code? If so, mind sharing it?

They provide the quickest service, but cellunlock is the cheapest if you don't provide a video to cellunlocker.
Cellunlock did it for 7.50, but I had to wait about 3 days for the code. Google "cellunlock discount codes" and you'll find one to give you 50% off.
And for our phones, you need a SIM card from a locked-out carrier to prompt code entry.

Thanks for the info. I had a couple of S III's to unlock and cellphoneunlock came through for $7.50 a handset. Code came via email a couple of hours later.
I tried cellunlocker.net and the code they gave me didn't work so after that I just took it in to a cell repair guy and he unlocked it for me for 20 bucks

That is too bad, were you using the correct method? The only way to input the code is to have another carrier's SIM card for NA phones. At least you were able to get it all unlocked now.

thanks buying the code from them.
hi - i have a htc one x locked to orange uk, its totally original phone and never has never been rooted or modded before, i purchased an unlock code and the seller is 100% sure thats its the corrrect unlock code for the phone but it doesnt work, after several times of trying the code it still says " unlock code ir wrong".i thought perhaps unlock code was wrong so i bought another from another seller, it was the same unlock code....phone still obviously wont unlock...is this a deliberate ploy by orange to stop people using other sims in their phones.. I also have reset the phone to factory settings and tried with diffrerent sim like gif gaff, vodaphone etc but still remains locked and wont accept the unlock code. I have no reason to doubt the seller. im in the uk. Ive read somewhere that it may have something to do with the radio.zip whatever that is. To be honest im totally new at this modding lark so would be greatful if someone could walk me through this problem or help me in some sort of way. i would like to use my tesco sim in the phone. Thanks
Get the unlock code from orange/ee whatever it is called now.

That's the same reason I didn't get mine unlocked through T-Mobile (greedy @$$€$!) Got mine on eBay and it worked perfectly first time.
If the code isn't working for you and you got the same code from 2 sellers, it looks like your out of luck mate and you'll have to give your greedy network the money.

Do you realize that if I took it from the store I would no longer be stressed here .. I took it from a stranger to a pretty good sum I say compared to the initial price ..
Chalk it up as a lesson learned. You have been scammed then.

Then you likely only have 2 options. Either get your money back from whom you purchased it from, or call Samsung to resolve the IMEI issue. You very well could have a stolen device. XDA and it's members will offer no assistance to change IMEI numbers, since that is an illegal practice in many countries to begin with. Good luck.
