Warranty: good news - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hi guys! I'm back!
My SGW kernel got corrupted 2 months ago and I had to send phone to a Samsung centre. It was rooted and with CWM installed. I got my phone with all my files, unrooted and w/ stock rom.
I live in Italy and the phone got repaired in Rome. I don't know if it's like this also worldwide, but what i want to say is: If your phone breaks, try to send it to SSC anyway. +1 for Samsung Assistance

Thanks for your useful information!
Why did it get corrupted?
How long did it take for the repair?
Finally, I was about to root my GT-I8150... did you have any problem rooting it?
Which procedure did you follow?
Thanks a lot.

You're welcome.
I flashed a ROM while low battery and the phone turned off during first boot. (Corrupted kernel)
It was repaired in a day.
The rooting guide is available on this forum, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317394
I used recovery method, it's the easier if you still have the stock recovery. It never failed for me.

Thank for your reply.
Just for my understanding: didn't you flash the ROM while having the phone connected to the PC via USB (hence recharging its battery)?
Wouldn't it be safer?

well firstly get the tmobile 2.3.6 kernel and flash it ( if you dont and revert to stock you will bootloop) then download the unroot file its in the dev section unzip it then place the tar file on pda and flash but do a factory reset before you flash the process takes about ten minutes.. reboot and well i did another factory reset.. also flash the vl1 radio as well before you flash odin..

Download that zip. (this the newest update released yesterday)
And download odin from http://www.mediafire.com/?u868rqz4qn0ta34
Then follows these steps:
1) Power off your phone
2) Plug the USB cable into your computer, without plugging it into your phone.
3) Hold VOL UP + VOL DOWN while plugging in the USB cable to your phone. Stop holding with 'Warning' appears.
4) Press Volume UP and start ODIN (Run as Admin on Vista and 7, just to be safe)
5) Click PDA and locate the MD5 file extracted earlier.
6) Press 'Start' and be patient. It will take a few minutes because it is a large file.
7) You phone will reboot when its finished then you can unplug the usb and reboot your phone once again.
Got odin link and modified the steps from KonstantinKeller restore stock thread..so thanks to him and thanks to przekret for making the flashable zip

No post in dev section. This is a little jewel I discovered months ago. Far more simple and it's official firmware, with everything included, and won't trip the counter.

Your phone will never read "1GB". Due to how android handles memory, some will be reserved for it and not be visible to you. Kinda like what Windows does to your hard drive.

That is the question
I wasnt going to root my phone but while playing with phone and seeing Ads come up and cant install adfree worth rooting for this alone .Ok back to the pc hope I find a good roooting method

I have decided to hold back on root at the moment due to the flash counter and OTA break issue.
Its killing me though to have to live with such high lcd density atm
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
i'm holding off as well...
waiting to see what sort of custom roms appear in the coming weeks before i decide what to do with it...
aside from Titanium Backup, i don't really use a lot of root packages... changing the DPI would be nice, but i can live with it for the moment until the devs get coding
M
I'm holding off for now too, I really like having this phone stock at the moment but if Google wallet comes out for root then I will.
One idea if you afraid from raising flash counter.
Flash pre rooted rom
Use mobile odin to flash stock rom.
This won't raise flash counter.

Warranty will be voids.
Though soon triangle away application will get support for note2, then it can be reset.
Edit
Just looked your sign
PS : any special reason for asking? As you have already used sgs3,note and difficult to believe you don't know it.

You need to choose what you want:
1. Have root and forget about OTA`s and Kies and use CWM and PC/Mobile Odin or
2. Stay on stock firmware and forget about root all together.
You can`t have it both ways mate
You will never be able to install OTA`s if you are rooted as you have a custom recovery.
ok still some what a new bee im looking to get note 2 unlock and run it on att..i have a gs3 on att..
i like rooting to get rid of my crap ware on att..but unlock is nice pure TW and i like it..so if i root and theres a update do i just flash the new update ? coming from a rooted stock TW?

ROOT!
Then u can clean bloatware, like gmaps, g+, ChatOn etc.
Hi Ketan, i have a question for you, i want to install the rooted rom but before doing that i would want to take the nandroid backup of the stock rom. Can you please give me step by step guide as to how i should go ahead wih it . Thanks and await your reply.

N7100 does not boot past start up screen

Hi All,
Couple days ago I tried to flash my note2 with mobile odin back to stock rom but something went wrong and since I have not been able to get past the welcome screen *Samsung Galaxy Note 2*. I can get into a recovery screen but I am unable to choose a new rom to flash with.
I ve tried to flash it with odin 3.07 and via kies but no joy.
At this stage I am quite desperate to get this resolved. Can anyone help me?
Download correct stock rom to pc. Mount SD Card in recovery. Transfer file. flash from recovery.
Flash stock rom via pc odin
make a nandroid bake up as soon as you root your phone next time.

True but i had to use Odin and every guideline said the filed had to color yellow while for me it stayed blue but i figured heck at the moment it's just a paperweight so I don't have a lot to loose.
Now Rooting it again and placing my nandroid back up back and I am all sorted.
